AN: So this chapter is a bit boring, and short, a bad combination. It does however setup quite a few things so just bear with me for the time being. I'll be updating The Freak in the Mirror, on wednesday, and I might even upload another chapter of MH, to make up for this chapter.

I don't own TD

It has been three months, since the battle to save Dawn from the Governor.

Duncan, Scott, and the others received gratitude, from the Council Leaders for taking down a McLean, and were awarded a large sum of money, which they used to fund their travels to take down demons. Duncan is now at 6, while Courtney is now at 8, although most of them were low level demons.

Chris McLean's post disappearance outing as a potential tyrant sparked the interest of multiple parties, most of them wanting to know who would take over the position of Governor of Vantage City, and if they could still tend to their crooked lifestyle, and illegal activities.

The people who have claimed to be running for the seat of power in the city includes, Gatling the Cannon, although he may not run, since it would interfere with his Council Leader duties, and no one took him seriously, since he had been made into an all bark, no bite man at the hands of Duncan. Archanus Mitis, the guild leader of Broken Soul, a powerful guild known mostly for their strength, and corrupt ways. Darren Vise the heir to Vise International, a manufacturing company that is the main, although severely outmatched competition to Wrett Industries, the company survives with its lines of children's toys, and only recently broke into industry equipment. The most recent claim coming from Victoria Libelle, a woman who ran against McLean several years ago, but ultimately lost.

"Today? Are you sure?" Duncan said, while speaking into a Comm Rune, as he paced through his room. "Okay, we'll be there in a little while."

"Who was that?" Courtney said, as she rose up from Duncan's bed.

"It was Dad. He wants us to come over, he says he's got some news."

"What kind of news?"

"Don't know. It's gotta be something good though."

"Okay, when do you want to leave?"

"Now, so get dressed, babe"

The couple got themselves together, and walked out to the main room of the guild hall.

"Where are you two off to?" Gwen said, as she sat at her desk.

"Going to Dad's, we'll be back later." Duncan said, as he walked out of the guild hall, with Courtney.

Gwen heard a yawn, and looked over to see Mike, coming down the stairs.

"Is everyone from your guild here?" Gwen asked, confused by Mike's presence.

"Nah, Geoff, and Bridgette are still at the guild hall, but I came with Courtney two days ago."

"But I didn't see you at all yesterday?"

"Umm well... Zoey, and I we-"

"Nevermind! I don't know wanna know." Gwen said, embarrassed, then walked off.

Mike shrugged, and walked to the restroom. He brushed his teeth, wet his face, and examined himself in the mirror, because of the circles that had begun showing under his eyes.

Mike's appearance seemed very distressing, even to himself. Sleep had become something he couldn't achieve, but didn't want to alert Zoey to his condition, even though she wore him out nearly completely last night.

Mike examined the circles closely, and noticed something. His reflection seemed to be a half second behind his actions. He was dumbfounded by this revelation, and out his hand against the mirror, thinking that it may be enchanted. Suddenly, his reflection grabbed him, jumped out of the mirror, and phased into Mike's body.

Mike convulsed several times, then his eyes opened, and he slowly got up from the floor. He grinned evilly at himself. "Looks like I'm the dominant one now." He said, then walked out of the restroom, and bumped into Gwen.

"Are you alright? I heard some noises, and thought maybe you hurt yourself." Gwen said concerned.

Mike, now Mal glared at her for a second, then walked to the door, and left the guild hall. " What the hell?" Gwen said to herself.

Cameron, and DJ were busy tending to matters in Blare, since the guild had begun acting, as the town's guard force, since they took down McLean.

After saving a woman's cat from a tree, the two decided to stop at a restaurant, and get something to eat.

"Oh my gosh. You're Cameron, and DJ!" A girl shouted, as she, and her friend walked up to the duo.

After a bit of flirting, the gorgeous girls, and the Gateway Guild members agreed to go out on a double date at a later time, and the girls left.

"I'll tell you, I like how things are going these days." DJ said to Cameron, as they sat at a table.

"Yeah, everyone seems to have taken a liking to us." Cameron said, surprised at what just happened. "I just got my first date."

"Not that." DJ said. "I'm talking about getting to save all the animals that are in trouble."

"But, animals aren't always in trouble here." Cameron said to his built friend.

"Is that Mike?" DJ said, as he pointed out the window of the restaurant.

Cameron turned, and looked. "Yeah, I think so."

"What's he doing out here by himself?" DJ asked.

"I don't know, maybe he came with Courtney." Cameron said, as he pulled out his new Comm Rune.

"Hey, Gwen." Cameron said into the device.

"What's up?" Gwen said, from the other end.

"DJ, and I just spotted Mike wandering around downtown Blare. What's he doing here?"

"He came with Courtney, b-"

"I was right, he did come with Courtney." Cameron said, interrupting Gwen.

"Cameron!" Gwen shouted into the Rune. "He's acting weird, and left all of a sudden."

"Okay, that's weird."

"I want you two to follow him, I feel like he might be up to something."

"Now?"

"Of course now!" Gwen said loudly.

Cameron placed the rune back in his pocket, and exhaled. "What's wrong?" DJ asked.

"Gwen wants us to follow him." Cameron said, and got up from the table.

The two walked out without even ordering a drink.

"Where'd he go?" DJ said, as they tried to find Mike's trail.

"It's like he just disappeared." Cameron said,

Duncan, and Courtney were currently in Morris's office, along with said werwolf, and Meria.

"So, what's up dad? You kind of surprised me with this sudden urge for family time?"

"I called you here today, because I wanted you, Courtney, and your sister to be the first to know that I will be running for governor of Vantage City."

"Uhh… Come again?" Duncan said.

"You're looking at the future Governor of Vantage City." Morris said proudly.

"That's great, Mr. Wrett." Courtney said, and Meria agreed.

"But that's not the only reason I asked you to come here."

"So what are we here for?" Duncan asked.

"As you know, I am a very important figure here in Vantage, but I am not without my enemies, so once I make my official announcement there may be a few folks who will not like it, and might even try to stop me. I need you, and your friends to be my private security force for the duration of the campaign."

"Alright, we'll do it."

"You will be paid well." Morris said.

"Ehh, don't worry about me, just give something to the crew, and we're good, dad."

"I won't be taking any money from you either, Mr. Wrett."

"Well, I may need to pay you something, since I'm gonna need you to be my campaign manager."

"Really?" Courtney asked stunned.

"Yes, you, and Meria will helm my campaign together. So, what do you say?" Courtney looked at Meria, and the redhead smiled approvingly.

"I'd love to." Courtney said.

With Dawn, and Scott.

"Scott?" Dawn said, as she walked through some woods near Blare.

"Boo!" Scott shouted, as he jumped out of a tree, and Dawn screamed. "Oww, my ears." He said, and Dawn looked at him flustered. "C'mon, babe. I'm just trying to have a little fun."

The two had become inseparable ever since the incident with McLean. Scott didn't want to lose her again, so he has chosen to keep her close, within his arms, rather than at arms length. Dawn feels the same way from her perspective, and tends to be a bit worried, when Scott leaves with Duncan.

"Fine, then I will have some fun as well." Dawn said, then she flew up into the air, and disappeared into the trees.

"Dawn?" Scott called. "Okay, you've proven your point. Come out already."

"Help! Scott!" Dawn screamed.

"Dawn! Hold on, I'm coming!" Scott said, as he ran to the Dawn's voice. He ran around a tree, and then fell face first into a small mud pool.

She seems to be inheriting some of his mannerisms already.

Scott sat up from the mud, and looked back to see a log in the way. "Stupid log." He said, then heard some faint giggling, then Dawn burst out from the trees branches, and floated above. "Nice joke." He said. She smiled, and he grabbed her arm. Dawn prepared herself to be thrown into the mud, and closed, but nothing happened. When she opened her eyes, she could Scoot smiling at her. "Don't leave me like that again."

Dawn couldn't help what she was feeling, so she lowered herself closer, and kissed him. She pulled away, and they both looked at each other shocked, but then Scott smiled.

Dawn smiled back at him. "I never will." She said, then Scott pulled down into the mud, and kissed her.

Later that night.

"So, what are we doing here?" Chris McLean asked, as he, and Mike walked up to the home of Gatling the Cannon.

"Getting reinforcements." Mal said simply, then knocked on the door.

The door opened revealing Gatling, in a golden robe. "McLean!?" Gatling shouted.

Chris threw his hands over Gatling's mouth. "Shut up, you idiot!"

Gatling calmed down. "What are you doing here? Do you realize how much trouble I can get into for speaking with you."

"Relax. I've come for my favor."

"What? What do you want?" Gatling looked at Mal, who he had just noticed. "Who the hell is this?"

"This is Mal, he's the guy who needs the favor." McLean said. "It's got to do with Duncan, Gateway to Hell, and the rest of them."

"That mongrel, and his friends can rot in hell for all I care, so I'm sorry, but I won't help you." Gatling said, as he tried to close the door, but Mal put his foot in the way.

"I heard about how Duncan humiliated you at the tavern, how he beat you into a bloody mess with only a few punches." Mal grinned. "I'm here to help you get back at him, and all it'll take is you giving us access to the Hunter Council."

"How will we be getting back at him?"

"By killing him, and burning his entire guild hall to the ground." Mal said.

Gatling was shocked by Mal's audacity, but the pride in him reared its ugly head, and overtook Gatling's better judgement rather easily. "When will we be doing this?"

"Three months from now." McLean said. "After the new Governor is elected."

AN: So I know it's boring, but I've decided I'm gonna try, and put another chapter out on wednesday to make up for this one.
