"Bill!" Sookie screams, a baby-blue towel hugging around her waist. She shivers against the cold chill as she can only stare. "What...the?" She watches fearfully and unsure of whether this is a dream or reality. "A dragon?" Sookie asks herself, watching as vampire and dragon continue to fight, well, more vampire evading dragon.
A loud roar erupts from the winged-beast as it plunges at Bill, long and pointed fangs continue to snap at the vampire, missing by inches as Bill continues to dart around. Sookie hesitates; standing on the porch, her brother stashed a few guns in the house, just in case. With that thought in mind she leaps back inside the warmth of her house in search of a gun.
A large tail lashes out whacking Bill in the knees, causing him to stumble before losing his balance. As he forces two hands into the dirt, ducking as the tail aims for his head. Unable to exhaust the beast Bill jumps up and rushes towards the dragons' underbelly.
Claws stab through his shoulder, penetrating deep and quickly pinning Bill to the ground. He groans in pain, his hands automatically attempting to ply the claws from his body; but they are inseparable. Black eyes tinged with red specks stare at him, they say the eyes are the window to the soul...yet he could see no life, only a black burning furnace.
A loud bang blasts into the air, silencing everything else. Sookie found her gun, she aims it towards the large scaly beast, watching her beloved one being forced into the ground and almost stomped on. To anyone, Sookie radiated confidence as she pointed her weapon, the towel still poised around her waist, however, both vampire and dragon could see the slight shaking of her hands and the drop of sweat rolling down her forehead.
"Let him go or I will shoot!"Her firm voice rings out, cocking the gun to emphasise her point.
"Sookie" Bill breathes before groaning as the claw pierces deeper.
Then it happens, a bullet trails through the air and hits the dragon directly in the ribs. Everything is silent as everyone watches the bullet make its journey, bouncing off the scales and dropping to the ground in surrender.
"Oh come on!" Sookie says exasperatedly. Her hands surround themselves in a bright white light, thrusting her orb of faerie light at the dragon.
Wings outstretch as the dragon leaps into the air in one smooth motion, Bill clamped in between claws as they leave the ground. Bill's eyes follow Sookie as she rushes towards them, screaming and ranting.
"Goodbye Miss Stackhouse." He manages before the wind crashes into him as he is lunged further into the air. Sookie becoming a faint dot in the distance, he can still hear her piercing screams echo through the night.
The cold frost-bitten air stings at his non-healing wound, his shoulder radiating with pain as claws still refuse to leave him. In a human life he would be dead, frozen before the dragon could finish him off.
In one brief moment, everything is forgotten as Bill can only stare in wonderment. Something he had never seen; somewhere he had never been. Mountains on the other side are cloaked in white, the chilly air creating a fog that surrounds them and the frozen sea below seems to sparkle. The air itself seems too frozen to even allow a breeze and the icebergs below, unmoving.
"Anna" He squawks as he can only look up at the giant monster, "this must be hard for you. I had heard once before, a long time ago...that dragons possessed many powers, I had heard that they are unable to control their natural urges. Anna, I need you to fight it." The dragon continues to stare upwards, barely noticing Bill's plea. "Taking someone's life...it will haunt you."
His speech concluded Bill follows her gaze. Staring up at the painted blue sky, a red ray of light peaks behind each mountain, the greying sky was fading into colour; a light blue engulfing the darkness.
"...You plan for me to meet the Sun." It's not a question as Bill realises the reason he still lived, she would watch as he turned to dust.
Unable to move, and unable to fight anymore he accepts his chosen fate; he would see his last sunrise. "It's beautiful."
An orange flash begins to rise from behind the snowy mountains, the sky turning a shade of red creating a false sense of warmth. Below, the light reflects off the frozen ocean, ripples of light dancing through the cracks between the icebergs.
Slowly his skin begins to sizzle as the smoke rises from his body, his eyes watch the rising of the sun and he can only feel a sense of sadness. His family resting in a better place, all those people he had murdered both as a human and a vampire. Whatever awaited him in the afterlife, it would not be loved ones, and he would suffer his sentence for all those lives taken. Would Jessica continue to grow as a vampire? Would The Authority destroy the humans or would the humans revolt and destroy all those who walked the night? And Sookie, what would become of her?
"Dragon Anna it is my final wish that you will not cause Sookie harm." He says as his crisp skin floats off into tiny bits of ash, his eyes watch the sunrise until they burn from their sockets along with the rest of his body. He holds back the screams just until his mouth is burnt off and the flaming vampire leaves nothing but ash in the dragons grip.
Something takes over Anna, a calm and regretful pain. She feels the transformation of her body though this time the scales shed from her flesh and within seconds she is back to her human unclothed form.
"I did it." She says blankly.
Watching the dust particles as they land softly onto the snow, she wraps her hands around her naked form and indulges herself on the panoramic view. An untouched and isolated world, this would be Bills final resting place.
"Great" She mutters, somehow unable to feel the cold. "How do I get back now?" She inhales the chilly air and watches as a Polar Bear stalks towards her.
X-X-X-X-
"Eric!" Sookie storms through the club, heading straight for the office where she was certain Eric would be lurking. "Eric! Bill's gone. A dragon just takes him away and you're sat here going over paperwork!" She exclaims.
Eric's eyes glance above a sheet in his hand, watching the blonde; her heart beating uncontrollably. "Nice attire" he states, eyes focusing on the towel protecting her modesty.
She bangs her fists on the desk in anger. "This isn't funny! Bill is in trouble, you're sheriff aren't you meant to help?"
"Miss Stackhouse, it's sickening how much you both care for each other but I have received no report on Bill missing-"
"-of course not it only just happened!" She screeches.
"Well until then I cannot investigate this based on your account."
"That dragon...it was Anna wasn't it?" Eric looks alert for a brief second before regaining his composure. "She won't get away with this Eric; I'll find some other vampire to help." She waits for a response but after hearing none she continues, raising her voice. "You'll pay for this; I know you're covering for her."
Without another word Sookie storms out, holding on tight to her towel as she moves through the crowded club and on the search for help.
