Chapter 9: Vacation choice
Kaoru's POV:
I sat on the couch, watching some wrestling show.
I felt my eyes water a bit but I blinked, forcing the tears away.
"Next let's welcome the Masked Wonder!" the man in the TV yelled.
I watched sadly as my father entered the ring and waved. He still wrestled even after all these years.
As I watched, I felt two pair of eyes watching me.
I sighed and glanced over at the twins.
They are doing their homework in the dining room, where they're able to see me.
"You two get on with your homework," I said.
They immediately turned away.
I know they're up to something because they usually do their homework in their own room and they don't usually doing things together like nowadays.
I watched as my father wined easily then I saw Shou, mom and Dai sitting in the front row cheering.
Shou have grown.
I switched off the TV and just sat there.
My mind was blank.
I felt homesick.
'No!' I shook my head. 'This is my home.'
But I felt very empty these days, I wanted to go back to Tokyo.
I closed my eyes and just sat there, not moving.
"Mom?"
I opened my eyes and looked up at Yahiru and Soyaki standing a little away.
"Soyaki wants to talk to you," Yahiru said and gave her brother a hard nudge.
Soyaki stumble forward. "Hey!" he hissed, "I though we're going to tell her together!"
Yahiru glared at him and jerked her head towards me as if saying: go on! Tell her!
Soyaki growled before coming over and sat next to me.
"Um…" Soyaki hesitated.
I grinned.
Soyaki can be calm and carless and won't hesitate while talking to others, but he'll become all nerves and stress when he is talking to me.
"Go on, I won't eat you," I teased.
He smiled shyly and looked down at the floor. "I… I've decided were to go on the vacation you said you'll take us on."
"Yes!" Yahiru came over and sat on my other side.
I smiled and asked, "Then what nice place have you thought of?"
He looked up at me straight in the eye. "Tokyo of Japan."
My smile faded. "Tokyo?" I asked coldly.
He flinched and Yahiru looked away.
I narrowed my eyes and looked from Soyaki to Yahiru then back. "Why do you want to go to Tokyo?"
"Because… because there's a lot of manga authors there and my friends all said Tokyo is awesome," Yahiru said while avoiding my eyes.
I sat back and crossed my arms and legs. "That's it?"
Soyaki turned to me and asked, suddenly all nervousness was gone. "Why do you bother to ask the reasons we go to Tokyo? You said we can go anywhere we want."
Anger suddenly flared in me but it died down quickly.
He's right, why must I worry.
I sighed and nodded. "If you want to go to Tokyo I will take you there, just want to know why you chose that place."
"Thank you mother!" Yahiru said and hugged me.
"There's something strange though," I said and Yahiru let go.
I looked and Soyaki then at Yahiru. "Why are you two so close all of a sudden?"
Soyaki stiffen and Yahiru glanced at her brother.
"Uh… Soyaki helped me with some… things," Yahiru said slowly.
I chuckled. "I'm happy with that. I want you two to stick together when we go to Tokyo, I don't want the two wondering around and get lost."
They nodded and I got up.
"I'm going for a walk," I said and walked towards the door.
"I'll be back just now," I said as I closed the door behind me.
I walked down the sidewalk and thought for a bit.
'Maybe I'll go check on mom them, and Miyako and Momoko.'
I thought maybe I must check on Butch too.
I shook my head. 'No.'
I heard a movement behind me.
I spun around and looked around, no one.
It can't be the twins because I felt there is a dark aura.
"Who's there!" I yelled.
But no one came out.
I smirked. 'Of course they won't come out, they don't even have the courage to do it.'
When I turned back to walk away, something shot out from the bush towards me.
I caught it with one hand.
I ran to the bush and looked over it but no one is there.
"They better run," I muttered and looked at the thing that shot at me.
It was a paper plane. I looked at my hand and saw a paper cut.
I snorted and unfolded the plane.
Dear Matsubara-san
You finally have the guts to come back huh?
Oh wait… no it wasn't you that wanted to come back
It was your twins, how pathetic!
I felt the hair at the back of my neck lifted.
But I took a deep breath and carried on reading.
Are you even planning on reuniting with your family or friends?
Or you don't have that courage to do that!
Oh do I sound like I'm insulting? Because I am insulting you!
But don't worry, I won't tell them you went back
If you come and see me
I'll give you my address when you get there
Oh, it would be an honor to meet your twins and tell them your real secret right?
Oh I'm so sorry but I couldn't help adding that in
Enjoy your flight
Hope no accident happens when you're on the plane
From your dearest friend
Oh sorry I can't tell you my name
You'll have to guess before we meet
I hissed with fury and crumbled up the paper.
"Does this person think I'm scared huh?" I growled. "I'll show them!"
But there is some doubt swimming in my mind.
I shook my head to clear the thoughts.
"We'll go in four days' time," I said and went back to my house.
I started the engine of my motorbike and rode off to buy the aeroplane's tickets.
Normal POV:
A female chuckled as she stood in the shadows, watching as Kaoru rode away.
"That wasn't really a polite letter you wrote," a male said.
The female glared at the male. "I never said I'm going to write a nice little good-luck letter!"
The male looked at the female in the eye. "You stirred her up."
The female snorted. "The letter was supposed to make her angry."
The male sighed and shook his head.
The female growled and gripped the male's collar.
"You're still too soft, even your daughters have more hater in them," the female hissed.
The male glared at the female and growled, "I'm not soft! Just think that you're doing this for nothing!"
"No!" the female yelled and shoved him away. "It's not for nothing!"
The male growled.
"Mother."
The female turned to see a boy standing there.
"What now?!" the female asked.
The boy frowned and said, "Sisters are fighting again."
The female nodded.
"Let's get back then," she said and walked away, the male and boy followed.
