Chapter 11
It was a beautiful day in Adventure Bay as Everest walked through town. She noticed something odd today, everyone was wear an ocean blue ribbon. If not people were dressed in all blue, "What's going on she thought? I'll go ask Ryder". She speed over to the lookout.
(Lookout) Ryder was playing fetch with Rubble, Zuma and Chase while Marshall was napping under a tree. Everest came running up panting "Hey Ryder". "Hi Everest, what's up?" he said turning toward her.
"I just wanted to know why everyone is wearing blue today, is it some holiday?" she asked curiously. "Yeah why is everyone doing that" Zuma asked as well receiving an agreeing nod from Chase and Rocky. Ryder looked at his pups as his face fell to a disturbed look.
"What's wrong?" Skye asked to her leader. He quickly changed his tone "Well today is the anniversary of a really horrible flood that happened a year ago". The all gasped "Really what happened?" Marshall asked. The pups sat in a semicircle around Ryder and he sat down as well.
"There was a neighboring town next to Adventure Bay called Oceans Creek, it was small but still a separate town it was located a lot lower sea level than Adventure Bay. One day there was a massive storm that ruptured the bay and flooded the entire town. It unfortunately killed most of the people living there, the rest moved here. The town was completely destroyed." Ryder finished, the pups started to become teary eyed.
Rocky was upset too, but he felt so confused on why he felt so sad. "Pups I didn't want to upset you, how about we all head over to Katie's for lunch" they gave a melancholic nod in agreement getting up. While he followed Ryder watched Rocky for a bit "He can't know the truth yet".
(Katie's) "Hey pups, hi Ryder" Katie greeted wear a sky blue dress with matching shoes. "Hey Katie" they said in unison. Callie was taking an unwelcome bath hissing the entire time "Callie hold still" Katie yelled to her kitten trying to keep her still.
"Ooh Katie, mind if I get a warm bath" Rubble asked wagging his tail "Sure, but later I'm trying to-" Callie tried to hop out of the tub but it fell and ironically all over. Normally he would just groan but he screamed out of actual fear "Aaaa Elizabeth no". "Rocky it's OK" Zuma said, he ran toward Ryder for a hug.
"Shhh it's OK" Ryder comforted the damp dog. "Who's Elizabeth?" Chase asked his friend "What do you mean" he asked sniffling "You called 'Elizabeth' when you got wet" Everest noted. Rocky was surprised he didn't know anyone by that name, at least he thinks he didn't. "Ryder I wanna go for a walk" he asked "Um if you want but-" he began but Rocky already was gone "That was strange" Skye said.
(Town Hall) "Chickelleta you look adorable in that blue pin" the Mayor complimented "Buck, buck" was her response. Mayor Goodway's entire attire was of blue shades with a purse to go along to which Chickelleta was taking a nap. "Why hello Rocky, why the long face sweetie" she asked as she noticed him walking alone.
"Oh nothing, just a little down" he said. "I know how you feel, today has everyone a little mopey" she sighed clutching a framed picture in her hand. "Why do you have that picture?" he asked curiously. "Oh its a picture of Oceans Creek and it's residents, I just found it today" she answered and handed it to him so he could take a look.
The picture didn't look that old, the people in it looked normal and happy. He felt more confused for some reason, when his eyes fell toward the corner of the frame he saw something that astonished him to no end. Two scruffy looking little puppies, playing together. One of them was a female and the other...he fainted.
