Derek wakes up early on a Saturday morning, his arms wrapped around Emily, the same position they have been sleeping in for three months. He untangles himself from her and heads into the bathroom. He uses the bathroom and splashes some cold water on his face. He grabs the towel from the back of the door and wipes the water off, we he opens his eyes he's shocked to see a lavender towel in his hand. His towels aren't lavender, they are dark red. He hangs it back up and looks around his bathroom. He hadn't noticed how much of Emily's stuff he had accumulated until now. She had a bathrobe hanging on the hook next to his, half of his bathroom cabinet was covered in Emily's makeup, hair products and a toothbrush, in the medicine cabinet she had some pills for her nausea and a razor, and in the bath she had several bottles of feminine soap. He smiles and shakes his head.
"What's so funny?" Emily asks coming in to the bathroom.
"Oh nothing." Derek turns and places a kiss to her lips before leaving her to do her business. He goes into his room and opens the top drawer of his dresser, and next to his boxers, he found several pairs of Emily's and a few tanks tops. He shuts the drawer and goes downstairs to make breakfast. Instead of coffee, he made Emily a cup of orange juice, scrambled some eggs, cut up some fruit and toasted some bread. Emily comes down freshly showered, dressed in pair of capris and a light pink top. They sit down at the table and begin eating their breakfast. "So what time do you want to leave?" Derek asks. Today they are going to get things for the baby.
"Eleven-ish. That we can make sure we have enough time." They finish their breakfast and Emily does her hair while Derek showers and puts on fresh clothes. They leave Derek's house around 11 and head to the mall. They go into the baby store and start looking around.
"What's that for?" Derek asks pointing to a half crib looking thing.
"That's co-sleeper, you put it against your bed so the baby is right there." Emily explains.
"Oh, are you going to get one?"
"No, I'm just going to keep her in a bassinet in my room for a few months then I'll move her to the nursery, if I ever get it finished." They walk over to the bassinets and Emily starts looking at them. "This one's nice." It's light pink with fringe around the edge.
"Is it the one you want?" He asks and she nods. He lifts the box up and puts it in the basket. "Do they have any red ones?" He asks looking down at the boxes.
"Why red?"
"Because when you guys come over I want her to match my room."
"We can just take this one, it can fold up." Emily says grabbing a light pink blanket and throwing it into the basket.
"Or you guys could just move in." Emily freezes, did he just ask her to move in with him in the middle of babies R us?' She asks herself. "Em." He waves his hand in front of her face and she blinks.
"I, it's a little soon for all that." She says as she turns her attention the rack of onesies.
"Why? You practically live there already, when's the last time you spent the night at your apartment."
"That doesn't matter." She throws a onesie into the basket. "It's too much right now."
"There will be more room, I can move my work out equipment down the hall and the baby could have the room next to mine. We're eventually going to move in together, we might as well do it before she gets here. It will be a lot easier."
Emily bites her lower lip, 'it would be easier.' She thinks. 'But we've only been dating for three months.' "Can I think about it?" She asks and Derek smiles.
"Of course." He nods.
"You know that mean you'll never get a break from us. You'll be there for every three a.m. feeding and there is going to be dirty diaper after dirty diaper."
"I know, so is that a yes?" He asks.
"I'll still think about it for a few weeks." She says, but deep down inside she knows she's going to say yes.
