ESMEPOV
It was the sound of a car entering our long driveway that interrupted my conversation with Carlisle. The car kept driving with a decent amount of speed towards our home, which made me sure that it was one of our children coming home. This however, made me frown, since they were still supposed to be at school. I was also sure that whomever was driving towards our home, could be anyone else but one of our children, because of the speed and fluentness of the moving car.
'Carlisle,' I asked in a calm voice, 'are you expecting company?'
'Not at all darling.' He replied.
When the car came into our view through the massive window, I noticed it was one of ours. It was the Mercedes, with Alice behind its wheel and an unknown girl sitting next to her.
Carlisle's eyes flickered to me for a fraction of a second before he placed his hand on my back and started moving towards the door. Alice smiled at our confused looks through the slightly tinted window before gracefully jumping out of the car and helping the other girl out of her seat.
By the clumsy and unsteady way that she made her way out of the car, I could tell that she was human. Of course I had already noticed the blush on her face and the beating of her heart before she had even opened the door of the car.
She was covered in what seemed to be vegetables, the tips of her hair were dripping slightly as the girl uncomfortable and stiffly moved next to Alice. Her clothes seemed to be damp as well. But the weird state of the girl was soon in the back of our minds when we saw the way she truly looked. She was thin, way too thin to be considered healthy.
Carlisle's hand on my back froze slightly and his eyes showed some form of recognition, it was in that moment that I realized who this mysterious girl was.
'That's Isabella Swan.' I murmured.
'Charlie's daughter.' Carlisle added.
When the two girls entered through the front door, She didn't seem to notice us at all. Her eyes were currently roaming the walls, admiring some the artwork and decorations. Seeing the dark circles and hallowed look on her face, made me feel sad for the poor girl.
Alice cleared her throat, and Isabella's eyes instantly moved towards us. A bright red blush spread over her face and neck as Alice explained what had happened at school.
She declined when I offered to get her some lunch, telling me she had to follow a specific diet because of everything that had happened to her in the past few months.
When I mentioned that she could take a shower and change into some of Alice's clothes, Alice beamed. She seemed to have found another victim to dress up.
Carlisle was right behind as Alice pulled Isabella up the stairs. I had an inkling that Alice had had a vision about this.
'You are going to get her something eat?' Carlisle asked when I opened the refrigerator.
Upon opening the refrigerator, there were all the necessary ingredients for a light salad. I frowned as I took in the proportion of things.
'That's not nearly enough, is it?' I questioned before looking at him.
'She's been through a lot, she needs to build things up again.' He replied in his doctor voice.
'She isn't looking well,' he added, 'the thinness is understandable but she looks exhausted. I'm guessing she needs more sleep.'
'She's probably having nightmares, Carlisle.' I said as he moved to the kitchen counter to lean against it. 'She's been through a very traumatic ordeal.'
He nodded before moving out of the way, still frowning. When I finished her salad, I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his back lightly. 'She'll get better, I can feel it.'
He snorted and put his hands over mine. 'What, have you turned into Alice all of a sudden?'
Before I could reply however, I heard a melodious giggle and a groan. Alice and Isabella were making their way downstairs. Isabella's face was, yet again, bright red. Her eyes were fixed on her shoes whilst Alice was beaming with pride.
'I made you a light salad dear, I hope you'll like it.'

After Alice had practically dragged me to her room, she made me try on at least more than fifteen shirts. When she finally found the one that she thought was "perfect", she added that it was just for eating.
She was so much more energetic than anyone else I had ever met before. As a surprise, even to myself, I liked it. She was nice and friendly to me, when everyone else didn't bother.
When we entered the kitchen again Esme was smiling kindly.
'I made you a light salad dear, I hope you'll like it.' She smiled warmly and waved over towards the big wooden table. There stood a plate with a small amount of food on the most elegant plate I had ever seen with even more beautiful cutlery. They almost looked too beautiful to touch.
Esme and Carlisle left after my face turned bright red again. Alice sat across from me and told me she had already eaten at school when I asked her if she wasn't hungry.
Alice smiled when I took a bite from the salad. I nearly moaned when the flavour touched my tongue, it was the best tasting thing I had ever eaten. At home, I'm usually the one who cooks for my parents. Basically because mom can give you food poisoning with her cooking and because dad can't even turn the oven on. I also made sure that the house was clean, the bills were paid in case of my mom and that the door was locked when we left the house. It felt weird to not be the one to make a meal, good weird.
Esme's gaze made me feel my age. Whenever I would be with mom or dad I would mostly feel like the adult. It was a welcome change for a few seconds, it made me smile.
'Did you like it Isabella?' a smooth and honey like voice interrupted my daydreaming.
'Call her Bella mom, she doesn't like being called Isabella.' Alice said.
'No it's fine Alice, whatever you want Esme.' I politely smiled. I also inwardly growled at myself because I indeed don't like to be called Isabella, I shouldn't have told her that she could.
Esme smiled and nodded. 'Do you want some more?'
Frowning I looked down before realising that for the first time in weeks, I had completely finished a meal.
'No, thank you. I'm really full and that salad was really good.' I smiled, 'thank you so much.'
'No problem dear,' she answered before picking up the plate and petting my hair.
I smiled at the pet name, mom usually calls be baby girl and dad calls me Bells. Suddenly to long fingers were snapping in front of my face.
'Bella!' I suddenly became aware of Alice's loud voice right next to me.
'Good, someone's actually home in there.' She snorted playfully.
'Sorry, mom always says I have a problem with blocking people out when I'm thinking.'
'Tell me about it, you remind me a lot of my brother.' She answered whilst grabbing my elbow and pulling my upstairs again.
'which one?' I asked.
She laughed out loud, which made me frown. 'Edward, he blocks us out all the time.'
'Why?'
She stopped in her tracks for a second before she took another step, 'nothing.'
'Let's play dress up again!' she squealed.
I laughed and tossed my hair back when Alice groaned in disgust and picked a forgotten piece of carrot out of the back of my hair.
'Where does this all go? How can one person have so much hair?' she groaned before going through my hair again.
She made a nonchalant bun on the back of my head before opening her massive walk-in closet. She kept holding up hangers with different shirts, tips, sweaters, blouses, pants, skirts and dressed in front of me before making me try on at least twelve different outfits. Where does this girl get all her energy?
After another hour she pulled me through to her bathroom where I suddenly was surrounded my massive mirrors and marble. Her bathroom alone was bigger than my entire room at home.
She made me kneel over the sink and quickly washed out my hair with the most amazing smelling lavender shampoo I had ever smelled. We both laughed when another piece of carrot someone had hidden itself in my hair and made its way down the sink when Alice gave it all a good shake.
I was glad Alice seemed to like me, she seemed like a wonderful person. It made me wonder why people seemed to be ignoring her and her family at school.
After she blow dried my hair and made it look all nice and shiny, she made me sit in a luxurious chair which she had placed in front of yet another mirror. She showed me what she did with her makeup, and I tried to soak up as much information as I could.
She placed some concealer under my eyes and the dead, tired look disappeared almost instantly. She placed some mascara on my lashes and my eyes seemed to pop. I looked almost normal, I looked healthy.
She had put me in very tight skinny jeans and a beautiful blue blouse. I pulled her against me and hugged her without second thought.
'Thank you so much.' I whispered next to her ear, feeling slightly awkward but emotional nonetheless. Her grip around me tightened and her face froze against my neck for a moment before she hugged me back.
'You're welcome.' Her voice seemed to be shaking slightly. 'I knew you'd like it,' she said as she pulled back.
Before she could say something else she smiled and stared at the wall behind me.
'Oh, my brothers and sister are home.' She said.
I frowned and turned around to see a beige wall. 'How did you know that?'
She looked at my face again with wide eyes, 'I heard it, of course.' She said whilst walking out of the room, I tried to follow her but she turned around so quickly it almost gave me a whiplash.
'Stay here, I'll be right back!' she yelled before running off.
I frowned in confusion, what had just happened?
