Chapter Eleven

Slowly but surely things were headed on the right track. Bec had an apartment, and now had legal custody of Lindsay – who she noticed took a real liking to Chloe. Always asking if they could see her or when she was coming over. Beca couldn't help but laugh. Sometimes, she felt the same exact way as Lindsay did. Even when her and Chloe were married.

"Do you think we can see Chloe today?" Lindsay asked hopefully as she was setting a soccer trophy carefully on a shelf in her new room.

"I'm not sure, Linds. I know she's working. I'll see if she has some free time though."

Lindsay smiled, "Thanks."

Beca smiled in response, going into the kitchen to grab a water bottle as she held her phone in her hand to call Chloe.

The three of them had been seeing each other more. Whether it was at Lindsay's soccer games – which some of the calls the referee made Beca thought were bullshit – or having dinner or lunch whenever Chloe was free.

Chloe wasn't working crazy hours like she was anymore, but it was still sometimes hard to catch a break, especially when she always seemed to be one of the only people who never got sick. She was just changing out of her scrubs when her phone rang.

"Hello?" She answered, maneuvering her phone swiftly as she put her shirt on.

"Hey Chlo. Lindsay was wondering if we could all do something if you weren't busy?"

The redhead looked at her watch, 10:30am. "I'm just getting off work, so let me go home and get changed and I'll be over."

"If you're tired, you can go home and sleep, it's okay. There's always later." Beca responded, not wanting Chloe to over-exert herself.

"No, no," Chloe said, walking to her car. "It's fine. I have enough coffee in me that I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway."

Beca chuckled, "I remember. It was always fun when you would come home and you had so much energy."

Chloe had her on speaker, driving now. "Yeah, you, for some reason, thought I was a hyper-active redhead. Even without coffee." She teased.

"And I still stand by that. Anyway, I can tell you're driving, so be safe and see you soon." Beca hung up, so badly wanting to say 'I love you' at the end, but decided against it.

"Love you…" Chloe whispered softly as she clicked the end button. She drove the rest of the way home in silence, almost too eager to get to Beca's.

Thirty minutes passed and Chloe was standing in front of Beca's door, raising her hand to knock when the door swung open and a beaming Lindsay opened the door.

"Hi Chloe!" She greeted the redhead, letting her in before she turned her head to yell, "Mom, Chloe's here!"

Chloe laughed at the abundance of joy Lindsay seemed to have with just her. "Hi Lindsay,"

Beca came walking out of the room Chloe assumed was Lindsay's, her hair in a messy ponytail, "Hi," she smiled at Chloe.

"Hi yourself," Chloe responded, kissing Beca's cheek softly.

They stared at each other for a moment, wanting to do so much more than have a kiss on the cheek – Beca wanted to tell Lindsay to go to her room so that she could rip Chloe's clothes off and take her right on the couch.

They shared kisses here and there, but they still weren't comfortable enough to be the way the used to be with each other.

"Chloe, you wanna see my room? It's finally finished!" The young brunette asked, pulling the redhead out of her thoughts.

"I would love to, Lindsay." She smiled, allowing the girl to lead her to her room and start talking about everything like her soccer trophies.

Beca laughed softly to herself. She loved the way Lindsay interacted with Chloe, and she knew the redhead felt the same way.

So why can't we be that way again? Beca wondered. No, don't go there. Now isn't the time.

Moments later, Chloe and Lindsay were bounding out of the soccer player's room.

"Nice job in there, Bec. Better than I remember." Chloe teased.

Beca's eyes snapped up at the sound of Chloe's voice, "Uh, thanks. I had help from Lindsay though."

Lindsay laughed, "You thought you did. I was simply watching."

Chloe started laughing, hugging Lindsay to her side, "You sound like me. I love it!"

The two laugh as Beca tries to look hurt, failing at pouting. Chloe quickly grabs Beca's had and spins her as she started walking in the opposite direction to give her a warming kiss on the lips.

"By the way, you still suck at pouting," Chloe teased as she pulled away from the brunette.

Beca playfully slapped her arm, thinking back to when they were together, "You're still mean, Chloe Beale."

"Chloe," Lindsay said, "are you coming to my soccer game today?"

Chloe smiled, turning to face Lindsay. "I wouldn't miss it for anything, Linds."

And she meant it. She went to almost every game she could attend, even on little sleep from working double shifts. She loved seeing Lindsay do what she loved, and helping her get better by giving her pointers and playing with her.

As Lindsay was getting ready for her game, Chloe was in the kitchen getting a few things ready and put in a bag.

Beca came up behind Chloe, wrapping her arms around the redhead's waist and rested her chin on her shoulder. "Really, Chlo? Are you packing for a picnic?" She teased.

Chloe smiled softly, "Maybe I am, maybe not. Who knows?" She answered.

"Cryptic much?"

"Only 'cause it's you." She laughed. "No, I'm just packing a few water bottles and snacks."

Beca hummed her response, taking in the scent of Chloe. She kissed her jaw softly before moving next to Chloe. She looked at Chloe's profile with a smile on her face that no one ever really saw. It was a smile saved just for her.

"You're staring," Chloe smiled, turning to look at Beca. She missed the easiness that was slowly coming back to the two of them.

"You guys ready?!" Lindsay said excitedly, making Beca jump lightly and Lindsay and Chloe laugh.

"Yeah, c'mon, kiddo." Beca smile lightly, her hand finding the small of Chloe's back and leading her two girls out of the apartment.

The three left the house, getting into Beca's car. The drive from her house to the soccer field was about a ten minute ride. Ten minutes in which Chloe and Lindsay were discussing soccer and Beca was merely nodding, somewhat following along.

"Bec, we know you have no idea what we're talking about, really, so you don't have to pretend to listen." Chloe laughed, noticing Beca absentmindedly nodding her head.

"Oh," She glanced at Chloe. "You thought I was listening? No, I was making a new mix in my head." She teased, laughing at Chloe's pout.

She reached over the center console and grabbed a hold of Chloe's hand and held it in her lap until they got to the soccer field. Lindsay was darting out of the car as soon as it was stopped to catch up to her teammates who were already practicing. The two women walked hand-in-hand, smiling as they watched Lindsay. It didn't even feel like they had been separated for the past year and a half. It felt natural.

They cheered for Lindsay and her team as they scored another goal, Chloe having to calm Beca down at times.

"Oh come on!" She yelled, her hands flailing in the air, "That girl totally cheated! Can the ref even see?!"

Chloe had to hold back a snicker as she put her hands gently on Beca's arms, "Sweetie, calm down. It's a game, their kids. Besides, Lindsay's team is winning anyway."

The brunette let out a huff, her eyes following number three, Lindsay. "That ref so doesn't know what he's doing. He's letting the other team get away with everything, but if Lindsay's team does something, they get flagged."

Chloe let out a laugh under her breath, she honestly wouldn't be surprised if Beca picked a fight with the ref, getting her banned from coming to games. She kissed Beca gently on the corner of her lip.

"I barely know anything about soccer, but I could probably be a better ref than him," Beca muttered, watching as number six, got flagged.

Chloe cautiously watched Beca, making sure she didn't get too out of hand and also watched the field, seeing Lindsay use some of the pointers she gave her when kicking the ball. For Beca being smaller, she did have some power to her. At the end of the game, she had to hold the brunette back from ripping the ref's head off, even though Lindsay's team, the Girls Bullets.

This time, Chloe couldn't help but laugh. Holding onto Beca until Lindsay came over. "Man, Bec, did you somehow get stronger?"

Scoffing, Beca said, "Please, Chloe. I've always been stronger than you," she smirked.

Gaping, Chloe looked at Beca with a shocked face, "Oh, you wish Mitchell." She playfully punched the brunette, smiling when Lindsay ran up to them.

"We did it!" The tiny brunette said happily, "We won! I even got a trophy. Now we go to the semi-finals."

"Yeah, that referee had no idea what he was doing though." Beca muttered and Chloe slapped her

"That's great, Linds!" Chloe smiled, picking Lindsay up. "How about we all go out to celebrate, hmm?"

Lindsay nodded vigorously, a huge smile still adorning her features. "Sounds good to me," Beca agreed. "Where to?"

"Jaime's Ice Cream?" Lindsay asked, hoping Beca and Chloe would say yes.

"Why not?" Chloe answered, turning to Beca. "They also have a pizzeria."

Beca nodded, slinging Lindsay's bag over her shoulder as they walked –Beca and Chloe walked, Lindsay being carried by Chloe- to Beca's car. Once they were in the car, Beca made her way to the ice cream shop. She found that it was one of Lindsay's favourite places to go since she seemed to ask all of the time if they could go.

"Oh, I never told you, Dan and I are somewhat on talking terms again."

"Really?" Beca asked, surprised Chloe was talking to Dan again. "How is he?"

"He's good," Chloe nodded softly. "Got himself back on track, doing less stupid things."

Beca let out a soft laugh, "That's good, Chlo. I'm happy."

Chloe smiled back, hearing a soft voice from the back of the car. "How come I haven't met Dan?" Lindsay mumbled softly.

Chloe glanced back at the half-asleep girl in the back of the car, only the street lights illuminating her. "Maybe soon you will."

Since Lindsay was fast asleep by the time they got home, probably worn out from soccer and the pizza and ice cream, Chloe offered to carry her inside so that Beca could open the door. Once inside, Lindsay only woke up enough to change into her pajamas and hop into bed, falling back asleep within seconds. When she walked into the living room, sitting next to Beca, Beca smiled over to her.

"You would make an absolutely amazing mom, you know," She spoke softly, almost as if she would disrupt the peace in the room.

"I still want to be a mom. Whether to Lindsay, or my own baby somehow." Chloe responded just as softly, not quite meeting Beca's eyes.

The two of them rarely, if ever talked about children, and now here's Beca with her seven year old daughter. She wondered what made Beca bring it up again. She knew that Beca was doing everything she could to prove herself to Chloe again (Chloe would be lying if she didn't say she seemed to be doing a good job), but she still wasn't sure if she was ready to be with Beca like that again.

The brunette's hand fell lazily on top of Chloe's leg, tracing little circles on the woman's jeans. "Thank you for giving me another chance. I mean it."

"Of course," Chloe replied, her hand falling on top of Beca's and giving it a reassuring squeeze. They were definitely getting somewhere and they both loved it. They were almost back to their old selves again.
