Chapter 11 (Part (1)
A/N: I'M SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT I WAS IN A MUSICAL AND WE HAD REALLY LONG REHEARSALS AND THEN OUR PERFORMANCES WERE FOR FIVE DAYS AND… yeah…
I'M ON THE TWO TOWERS! *dramatically faints into my readers' arms* to summarize (because I know you REALLY wanted a summary)
Summary-Boromir died, Alice got kidnapped with Merry and Pippin, and Skyla got dumped in water.
Wasn't TOO bad, was it? =3
Alice POV
"Alice?!" I blinked my eyes open. Turning my head around, I realized I was tied to an Uruk-Hai and Pippin was staring at me with relief.
"Oh… hey, Pip!" I reached up and touched where my head was hurting, feeling a small amount of blood. It would scab over soon. "What's wrong with Merry?" I looked at the other hobbit that was unconscious.
"He was knocked out like you! He hasn't woken up yet!" I blinked. Oh.
"Well isn't this just peachy." I muttered, then moved my face forwards so I was staring at the Uruk-Hai I was tied to. "Well, hello! I want my phone call now! Remember, I'm innocent until proven guilty!"
The poor creature was probably very confused from all my babble and growled, "Shut up." I gasped at that dramatically.
"Well that is NOT how you treat a hostage! Do you have any tea? Because I'd like some tea at the moment." I raised my eyebrow.
As the orcs and Uruk-Hai jabbered, I noticed Pippin dropping his elf brooch on the ground. Giving him a knowing smile, I wriggled my arm around until I could pull something off of my arm…
Skyla POV
"Their pace has quickened. They have caught our scent! Hurry!" I blinked at Aragorn as he and Legolas ran off.
"Come… on… Gimli…" I panted, racing up the hill. I wasn't the best cross country runner, but I was surely better than Gimli, which gave me a sick sort of happiness.
"Three days and nights pursuit. No food, no rest, and no sign of our quarry, as the bare rock can tell." The dwarf stumbled up the hill and I rolled my eyes.
"Take it this way; when we find the hobbits and Alice, we can eat and rest and it'll feel awesome!" I told him as I made my way after Aragorn and Legolas.
I stopped next to them as Aragorn held up Pippin's elf brooch.
"I have an idea…" I muttered, looking around.
"What is it?" Legolas asked.
"If Alice was awake when Pippin did this, she would have… AHA!" I raced over to where a hair tie was. "Alice has… like… eight hair ties on each arm at all times for 'emergencies'." I explained, picking it up.
"Emergencies…" Aragorn raised his eyebrow. I nodded.
"You know! Hair emergencies!" I grinned and skipped after the tracks.
"Come, Gimli, we're gaining!" Legolas shouted.
"I'm wasted on cross country… we dwarves are natural sprinters… very dangerous in short distances…" he panted.
"I'm so sure, Gimli!" I muttered under my breath.
Aragorn stopped and looked around. "Rohan. Home of the Horse Lords. There is something strange at work here. Some evil gives speed to the creatures, sets it's will upon us." I sighed and rolled my eyes. What a wonderful speech, but save it for when you're king!
I watched as Legolas ran ahead, and plopped on the ground, playing with the hair tie.
"What do your elf eyes see?" Aragorn asked the blonde.
"The Uruks turn northeast. They are taking them to Isengard!" I bit my lip.
"Saruman." Aragorn hissed.
Alice POV:
"MERRY HAD A COUSIN NAMED PIPPIN, COUSIN NAMED PIPPIN, COUSIN NAMED PIPPIN! MERRY HAD A COUSIN NAMED PIPPIN WHOSE HAIR WAS CURLY AND BROWN!" I shouted loudly, ignoring the grumbling from the Uruk-Hai. I had been spending the whole long boring trip annoying the monsters, and as the moon started to rise, felt quite proud of my annoyance power.
"We're not going further until we take a breather." I heard an orc announce. Merry, Pippin, and I were thrown on the ground as the creatures started a fire and mulled around.
"Are we all okay?" I asked the hobbits under my breath. They nodded. I looked around us. We have to find a way out… I wriggled my hands a bit to feel the tightness of the bonds. Though tied with pretty strong rope, the knots were messy and obviously made with speed, not strength, in mind.
"I'm starving." I blinked and looked over to where an Uruk-Hai was grumbling. "Nothing but maggoty bread for three stinking days!"
"Yeah!" I turned to see an orc staring at us. "Why can't we have meat? They're fresh." I wrinkled my nose.
"They are not for eating." The lead Uruk-Hai grumbled. THANK YOU! I nodded and smiled cheerfully.
"What about their legs? They don't need those!" hissed another orc. I sighed and turned around to look at the forest behind us. If I can undo these bonds, I can get Merry and Pippin in there. We just need a diversion. There was the sound of a head being cut off and I swirled around to see the first whining orc fall on the ground.
"Looks like meat's back on the menu, boys!" the lead Uruk announced. I inched towards the two hobbits.
"C'mon." I whispered. "We need to get into the forest." The two nodded and we started to creep towards the forest. But I froze when I saw the other orc place his foot on Merry's back.
"Go on. Call for help." He licked his lips and raised his blade. "No one's going to save you now." I screamed, and suddenly an arrow embedded itself in his back.
"NOBODY SAVED US!" I screamed, and untied my hands, sliding over to Merry and Pippin.
"Get into the forest. Climb a tree." I told them, undoing their bonds.
"What about you?" Merry asked.
"I'll be right behind you. I just need a weapon." I watched them start their way off and grabbed the blade from a body.
"Not as hard as I thought!" I mused as I started to walk towards the forest. But then, something hit my back, and I fell down.
Merry POV
Pippin and I raced towards the forest. Suddenly, Pippin grabbed my arm.
"MERRY! ALICE!" he shrieked. Turning around, I froze and saw an arrow hit Alice in the back, and she fell to the ground silently.
"ALICE!" we both screamed, but, realizing we had to move, I grabbed Pippin and pulled him into the forest.
Éomer POV:
As we destroyed the orcs, I heard screaming towards the Old Forest, and turned to see a figure fall down after being shot with an arrow. I galloped towards them and jumped off the horse. Leaning down, I turned the stranger over and realized it was a maiden.
Looking at the arrow in her back, I realized with sorrow that she would be dead the moment it hit her. Picking up her body, I carried it to where the others were throwing the bodies. A burning anger filled my heart when I realized that one of my own men had shot the maiden. I looked at her closely. She was quite beautiful, though the screaming I had heard had not been from her. With no choice, I threw the body into the pile.
"One of us shot this maiden." I hissed, pointing. "And I shall find out whom." With that, we lit the pile and started off.
Alice POV
Darkness… that's all I could see. Damn… is this death? Am I gonna be stuck here FOREVER!? IN A LIMBO!? Oh and what about Skyla? What'll she do when she finds out I'm dead? And why… do I feel really hot….?
I slowly opened my eyes. This isn't heaven OR hell… this is near where I was shot! I turned and froze. Because a flame was burning towards me.
"AW HELL NO!" I screamed, throwing myself out of the pile of bodies I realized I had been on. Taking deep breaths, I reached behind myself and touched where the arrow had hit me. It was gone. HOLY MOTHER OF FAIRY PRINCESSES, I'M ALIVE! I blinked, and realized I was wearing the breastplate Galadriel had given me. I NEED TO HUG HER!
And then I noticed a man, riding over to see what the hubbub was all about. He looked confused when he saw me standing there.
"Um… hi!" I cheerfully waved. He turned on his horse and rode off. Oh… I guess I'm all alone then. I looked towards the big forest, hoping the two hobbits were alright. And I heard the sounds of horses coming towards me. Turning behind me, I froze. Because a whole lot of men were all sitting on their horses staring at me.
One of them trotted towards me. He was wearing a helmet, so I couldn't see his face.
"You are alive?" he sounded surprised.
"Mm hmm. I'd like to know why somebody shot me, why I was in a pile about to be burned, and who you are. And make it snappy." I crossed my arms. He looked miffed.
"It was a battle; mistakes are made. You were shot in the back, we assumed you were dead. I am Éomer. And you are?" I blinked. No snappy comeback… wow…
"Alice. Two hobbits and I were kidnapped by the Uruk-Hai. Did you also make the mistake of killing my companions?" I raised an eyebrow.
"We did not see any hobbits. You should come with us. It is not safe for a maiden to be alone near Isengard." I stiffened. A maiden? Really?!
"I guess so, but as long as you never EVER call me a maiden again or I'll start calling you Joey the Banana." I grinned. Now I want him to call me a maiden, just so I can call him that… or Banana Joe!
"Come, Lady Alice." He offered me his hand. I blinked. "You will ride with me." He explained. Not awkward… I grabbed his hand and he pulled me in front of him.
"I'm tired." I muttered, and then realized his arms were around me so he could hold the reins. AGH! AGH! AGH! AGH! NEVER RIDE A HORSE WITH A STRANGER, ALICE! I stiffened.
"You can sleep; I will not let you fall." I heard the amusement in his voice, and turned to glare at him.
Skyla POV:
"Why don't you just let Gimli and I sit here and you can go and find the hobbits?" I whined.
"Skyla, we must go faster." Aragorn commanded. I glared at him.
"A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled tonight." Legolas interrupted before I could make up an angry retort.
"That's lovely. Just particularly lovely." I muttered.
Alice POV
I sat down in the grass as the horse guys started a fire. It was utterly boring without Merry, Pippin, or Skyla there to joke around with. I hope the hobbits are okay! I literally almost died for them! You don't do that every day!
"Lady Alice, do move closer to the fire. It is not safe to sit deep in the shadow." I sighed and inched towards the fire. I'd seen the looks all the people had been giving me. They were all men. Who knows how long since they had seen a lady, especially one as awesome as I was.
"Are you married, Lady Alice?" One of the guys said, and I gave him a death glare.Éomer seemed to feel the same way I did, and glared at the man.
"Watch your words. She is a lady, and is to be treated like one." I noticed the slightly threatening tone in his voice. Everyone looked away from me. I blinked. The leader took off his helmet, and I couldn't help but blink yet again. He's hot! Like, good looking hot! Like… crush worthy hot! I thought, and then shook my head.
"I'm going to sleep." I announced, standing up.
"Where?" one of them asked. I wrinkled my nose.
"Over the rainbow." I walked off and climbed up to the top of a tree, making sure it had branches that were too weak to hold any guy. Looking around, I sighed. Not fun.
"Lady Alice?" I blinked and looked down. It was Éomer. Shifting my weight on the branch, I waved.
"Hi!" I smiled, though I was a bit worried. He's not going to get all… meh… is he?
"I wanted to apologize for my men. Most of them have not seen any women ever since they were banished." I bit my lip. No, duh!
"It's fine. I got that pretty quick. I'll just stay up in this tree for the night…" I replied.
"I will come and find you when we leave." Éomer nodded and left.
A/N: AND THAT'S THE FIRST TWO TOWERS CHAPTER! :D OOOOOH ALICE SURVIVED! All thanks to that breastplate :D
