Chapter 11

After another 15 minutes of walking, the group made it to Tazuna's house. Kurenai, exhausted from being trapped in the Water Prison, flopped down on Tazuna's couch. Zabuza and Tazuna walked in next, greeted by a flying 7-year-old child.

"Jii-san! You're OK!" The boy greeted. before backing away from Zabuza and the now present Teams 7 and 8. Haku and Daisuke were busy checking over medical supplies for Anko to help heal up Kurenai.

"Yup, all thanks to these super ninja from the Hidden Leaf! You should have seen that one with the green eyes there!" At first, Sakura gave a mild blush at that. "No, not her, the guy." And her hope fell. Daisuke gave a small wave.

"What'd he do jii-san?" The boy asked slightly intrigued.

"Well, we were on our way with these four and their sensei here, when these guys...What did they call 'em?...Demon Brothers, I think?...tried to attack us. We made it through when the kid with the jacket blasted 'em with a cloud of bugs and the woman on the couch there interrogated 'em.

Things went well up until the dog moron attacked our Mist-nin friends here. The green-eyed girl shrieked which temporarily disoriented every living thing within a 200 yard radius. Apparently though, it also alerted our friends Naruto, Hinata, and Daisuke. Sasuke here did a great job defending against these guys here until Daisuke recognized this girl here and we all became friends. And here we are." Tazuna summarized, a bit out of breath.

"Hey! We would have been fine, if that baka Daisuke hadn't have interru-" Kiba was silenced by an intensely focused Rinnegan glare.

"Yeah! Even if Kiba failed, Sasuke-kun could kick all these bak-" A sharpened icicle, angry viper, executioner's blade, hungry centipede and Byakugan-enhanced glare were all too eager to meet Sakura's neck.

"Everyone here is tired. Don't start." Daisuke and Haku said simultaneously, as they turned back to the injured Kurenai.

"So, now that we're pretty much settled, we should probably set up a training schedule so we can better deal with whatever decides to come crawling out of the woodwork. Knowing my former employer, he probably hired someone cheap and efficient enough to be dangerous." Zabuza stated.

"Why bother trying? Gato will kill you all, even my grandpa!" Inari sobbed out.

"Well, aren't you just a magnificent ray of sunshine." Daisuke quipped sarcastically.

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW! YOU'RE A SHINOBI! YOU HAVE A FATHER THAT YOU SEE EVERY DAY! YOU HAVE A RICH LIFE TO LIVE! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO SUFFER!" Inari declared viciously.

The temperature of the room dropped to near freezing. Not a person in the room was free from the freezing chill. Daisuke's lethal intent resonated out, a virtual poison mist flowing freely of its own accord. Daisuke removed his vest and shirt and began removing his bandages wordlessly.

The last bandage fell. The onlookers gasped in horror. Daisuke's arms were a mess of ink and scarred flesh. Seal matrixes of all kinds crisscrossed left and right, all without touching a single scar or burn. But that wasn't all. So very far from it.

On Daisuke's back lay a reddened burn which expanded from the back of his neck to below his shoulder blades. The centermost piece held the kanji for "demon" in black.

"You speak of pain as though you were a great prophet who died for the sake of civilization. But I'll say this once, and I truthfully hope you memorize every detail of what you see and hear; you have never experienced the pain that I have. The seals I bear on my arms and back pain me every time I try to use them. I will be lucky to see my 21st birthday. I could complain all day long about the hand that 'fate' supposedly dealt me, but I choose not to. I realize that you lost someone dear to you, but for their sake, suck it up and be a man."

"WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT HOW I FEEL! SURE, I DON'T HAVE A SPECIAL TATTOO ON MY BACK THAT HURTS ME A LITTLE EVERY TIME I USE IT, BUT I LOST MY FATHER! " Inari yelled.

Daisuke gave a crooked smile, the kind of smile that a snake would give an unsuspecting rat.

"I lost my kaa-san and tou-san on my birthday. Ten years later, the same thing happened to my master. Think about that." Daisuke began walking away, Haku trailing behind him.

"Oh, and by the way, all these seals?" Inari lifted his tear-stained face to make eye contact with Daisuke…

"They were the size of a quarter before I turned ten."

With that, the last survivor of the Kazama clan left the house. Every person had their own unique reaction to Daisuke's speech; Naruto bowed his head in mutual phantom pain, Hinata sat in silence, Haku shed silent tears as she followed after the demon vessel, Tazuna and Zabuza gave a slow swig of saké, Anko, Kurenai and the now present Tsunami cried.

Team 8 however, did nothing beneficial. Sasuke was too stunned to even react and silently vowed to give up on his quest for vengeance. Sakura, being the dimwit she is, filed away that information to use for later before daydreaming about Sasuke again. Kiba tried to hit on Hinata before being Almighty Pushed through a wall.
