Chapter 11: Time

~Kanda~

8th Month- Black Order, Library, 1:11pm

"I don't understand"

"You think I do? I'm just repeating what Komui told me last month."

"Che. Of course it was the baka that came to this result. I still don't get why you're even here, I can protect Allen just fine."

"Trust me if I could go I would but when the Noah come, which they will, you won't be able to stop them alone. My idiot can barely walk from the load you put in him, you can't help him and fight off the Noah at the same time."

It had only been a month but Kanda still didn't like the way Cross worded things,

"'Put my load in him'? What do you see me as a sperm box that donated to your precious apprentice?"

"Wooow, you can read minds?" Cross gasped,

"Fuck you, you know I don't like you why add to the pot of distaste?" Kanda crossed his arms and glared at the man.

"So I see we have a mutual relationship. And I still can't wrap my mind around it, not one but three, did you ever go to town."

"You know I don't know what happened." Kanda didn't know way he was explaining himself. He looked on the clock on the wall to his right. Close enough to 1:30 to go.

"Well look at the time! Got to run." Kanda stood up and didn't wait for a response before turning to the doorway to the hall.

"See you later than, you know you're not the only one with orders to stay by his side." Cross yelled, Kanda groaned at the thought before exiting.

Black Order, Infirmary, 1:22pm

"Nice to see you Kanda. Allen is almost done, he just needs his hormone injection still." Nurse Klein greeted as she tended to an unconscious Krory. His last mission with Lavi involved a not-so-friendly encounter with the very active Noah. Krory had had yet to wake up since being dragged in by Lavi and the Finder Evan this morning. Lavi was the lucky one, only needed a quick scan, some bandages, and a request to get some sleep on behalf of his health.

Kanda looked at Krory and for all the bandages he could only guess how bad this fight was. The Noah had put many of the exorcists in the infirmary this last month. Most only got a one-night stay in the wing before being dispatched on another mission, healed or not. Kanda knew exactly why this was happening and he hated it. But what could he do? The only reason the Noah weren't breaking into the order was because they were to busy fighting the exorcists. Kanda was glad Allen was still deep enough in the dark to be unaware that he is in fact is the cause of the Noah attacks-

"Bakanda." Kanda heard as the head nurse wheeled Allen to him.

"What?"

"Why are you in another daze?" Allen asked when he was sitting by his lover. Kanda took hold of the wheelchair's handles when the nurse let go. The head nurse nodded quickly before going back to attend to something in the other room.

"It's nothing, let's go."

Allen only gave a little approving head motion before he was pushed into the hall.

Black Order, Kanda's room, 4:00pm

Kanda stared at his sleeping lover. He knew from the prodding cheek-bones how much of a strain the babies were on his body. Allen was just too young- as-well as having such a little frame, let-alone was not built for this as he was a he- to be pregnant with triplets. The doctor had said the babies were on the bigger side- that was right before he prescribed Allen to be wheelchair bound for the duration of the gustation.

Allen was weak but he was strong enough to handle this. At least he claimed to be. Kanda didn't know what to do. He moved a hand gently to the swollen belly, which was now littered with sore stretch marks as well as past scars.

He didn't move his hand, to feel the tiny kicks inside he never seemed to need to. He scooted closer moving his hand to the bend of his lover's back and softly pressed his lips to Allen's forehead.

"I love you, Moyashi, I love you so much. I won't let them hurt you or our little ones."

He whispered quiet enough to keep the sleeping boy sleeping. Just before hearing loud knocks. 'Who the fucking fuck is that?!'

Kanda reluctantly but quickly got up before more rapping came. When he reached the door he flung it open, checked to see that the British hadn't awakened, and stepped into the hall, closing the door gingerly behind him before looking up the eye-patched young man.

"Shut it Lavi, he is sleeping!" Kanda snapped,

"He is sleeping... Oh god, what have I done? Will I be confined for such a horrendous act!?" Lavi mocked but he knew the real severity of this.

"If you did wake him up, you might be. Allen hates being disturbed in his sleep." Kanda grinned when Lavi frowned at that.

"OK, I'm sorry, happy?"

"Che, why are you here?"

"I've been on a mission for the last 4 weeks, do I need a reason to see my friends?"

Kanda was about the they kept Lavi as their friend, the idiot did not have any bounders- but then he remembered his conversation with Allen the other week.

~Allen~

Flashback ~ Two weeks ago, Black Order, Kanda's Dorm Room, 7:48pm

Allen patted his full stomach. Eating while being now almost 8 months pregnant with triplets felt never-ending, he was always hungry. Tonight was the first dinner in some time that made him feel satisfied. Now so full with both babies and food, he was far past being able to use the word 'blotted'.

"Two girls and one boy…" He muttered both to himself and the samurai next to him,

"We are going to have a handful."

"Che. Did you just realize that baka?"

Allen ignored Yuu's comment,

"Have you thought of names?"

Kanda turned so he was now watching the boy instead of the ceiling fan. Allen was still staring up lying flat on the bed. He was holding his extended belly and looked as if he was in a dream-like daze but at same time serious.

"I thought you were- "Allen stopped him by adding,

"It's a two person job to create life and it should be the same with naming them."

"Do you have any ideas?" Allen knew Kanda was only saying that because he had none.

"What about naming them after someone?" Allen suggested,

"What like Mana? Or Cross… Oh fuck we are not having a little Marian Cross."

Allen giggled before replying,

"No not Cross. And Mana is too personal, we should name them after someone we both know and you never even met Mana."

"What then? And we can't name them the exact same name. That'd be confusing for them. But who is left? Komui?"

"What about are friends? Lenalee or Lavi?"

"Friends? Che."

Allen turned to Kanda then and looked at him with confusion,

"Other than you, the closest person to me is Lenalee. And for you, other than me, Lavi seems to be the next closest person to you. If they aren't our friends what are they?" That made Kanda quiet until Allen added, "What about a little Tiedoll!?"

"Fuck no!" Kanda blurted putting Allen into another giggling fight.

End of Flashback ~

~Kanda~

"Earth to Yuu" Lavi waved in his face as he sang out. Kanda shoved the hand away,

"Don't call me that!" Kanda yelled momentarily forgetting about the sleeping boy in the room just behind him but remembered when Lavi motioned to the room with one hand, and put a finger over his lips with the other.

"How is he? Does he know?"

"How do you-" Kanda started but then realized he was talking to a bookman.

"The Noah aren't really keeping it a secret plus they are everywhere and almost everyone has encountered them the past month. I think it would be rare to find out someone doesn't know at this point."

"And what are people saying?" Kanda asked scared to know if people were feeling tiresome about helping Allen,

"It's lucky that most adore Allen and would even fight to death to save him. Most exorcists that is. Most scientist don't know about it yet and those who do aren't worried to much about the fact it's Allen. For them it doesn't matter who really. Other than Johnny and the supervisor at least who would do anything for him. Then of course there is the select few who think saving Allen is pointless. That we are giving him too much and it would be better off to leave him to the Noah.

"Do they understand what the Noah want to do?" Lavi only gave a short nod before Kanda went on,

"Those asses... Problably don't even realize what Allen has done for the order- for them."

"That's the thing," Lavi continued in response, "Most don't know. Some haven't even met Allen, they just know him by the rumours of the 14th and his pregnancy-"

"Judgemental bastards." Kanda cut in.

"By the way, how-" Lavi started but was inturpted by a frantic Cross,

"Lavi, follow me, and Kanda stay with Allen!" Cross blurted and just as Lavi was about to ask, he added,

"Those bitches are here for him, at the front gate." He said quickly then ran off with Lavi on his tail before Kanda could even react.

'The Noah... The Noah are her for Allen- What? Fuck, how? Aren't-"

*Bang*

Kanda heard the harsh thump just behind him... 'Allen!'

He burst into action, his mind suddenly clear, and turned on his heel to the closed door behind him,

"Allen!?" Kanda yelled rushing into the room. Only to see an empty bed. Panic erupted but then he heard a soft pained voice,

"Yuu- I- I think it's time…"

Kanda walked to the opposite side of the bed where he saw a white tuf of hair indicating the top of Allen's head. He was almost there when Allen's words echoed in his head,

"It's time?" Kanda repeated in disbelief and took another step.

"Yes… But the nurse explained this, and- and I think something is wrong. I-"

Allen abruptly stopped when warning speakers ran out in the hall, shouting that the order is under attack. Kanda made the last step to finally see the boy fully. He watched the boy's head bob as he fighted to not pass out. Kanda rushed to his side but wobbled when he slipped on something.

Surrounding Allen was a puddle of translucent liquid… 'His water already broke!'

Kanda gasped as he stared down, but it wasn't the water around his lover that made him make the shocked intake of breath; it was the harsh swirls of red quickly blending into the clear liquid.
