My muse has finally returned! Except it's 2 AM here. Lol, she always decides to show up at the most unexpected times.

Excuse my spelling/grammar errors. Didn't feeling like going back over it again.

Please enjoy. :3

Badass With A Hint Of Beauty.

Ten year old Artemis and Isis were outside in their backyard sitting in the grass, the former on her knees brushing and combing her sisters hair. They were happy, and playful little ones. Happy-go-lucky identical twins. They got into mischief on a regular basis but were the most respectful and sweetest children around.

Isis giggled softly as Artemis tickled the back of her neck while brushing out her lightly tangled dark locks. The latter was practicing on her braiding – which she learned from her mother. Artemis – older by five minutes loved her little sister. She'd do anything for her no matter how bad or good it was.

"You know 'Sis," Artemis started, running her fingers through her sisters' soft tresses.

"Hmm?" Isis murmured, her eyes closed as she reveled in the feeling of the older sister playing with her hair.

"I'm glad we are twins, you know?"

"Mmhmm," Isis agreed lazily.

"You're the bestest littlest sister ever. I promise to protect you no matter what." Artemis hugged Isis tightly, waking her up from her trance and she giggled as they both fell over in the magnificently green grass.

"Me too. You are the bestest biggest sister ever." Isis complimented back, hugging the most favored person in the world to her.

Isis smirked to herself, remembering that memory she and her sister both created twelve years ago. She grunted and shook her head, her face turning serious.

Now it was her turn to protect her big sister.

She quietly crawled through the metal opening she made herself. Keeping her head low, she made her way over to a large car parked in front of the opening she just came from. She looked back to see that the others had closed it for her to stay hidden. She took a deep breath and sighed.

Thank goodness...

Equipping her blade in her hand, she peeked over the car's hood to see that there were in fact a couple of guards standing on top of the barricaded pieces of metal that looked like it was a little over eighteen feet tall. She saw a ladder next to the large metal barricade and wondered how she should proceed with this. She could have easily had Daryl take one of them out with his crossbow but if he had, the other guard would notice and most likely raise an alarm as Daryl would take time to reload and they couldn't risk that.

She twirled her blade between her fingers and squatted quickly forming a plan in her head. She was skilled at using quiet weapons like knifes and blades and machetes. She could probably say that she was better at that than her sister, she was more suited for firearms and hand-to-hand combat – both of which they practiced together while they stayed in this place for a while since it was required by the leader, Jacob for them to learn.

Once the light of the large lamp above her, swept to another direction, she darted for the ladder and decided to take them head on. However she could only take one out at a time so she had to get one distracted first.

"U-Um. . . E-Excuse me. . ." She muttered, leaning against the barricade, knowing that they'd mistake her for one of the women that was in their camp, though she was also taking a risk as well. It seemed like the guards didn't hear her so she muttered a little louder, soft and sweetly. Though she was anything but at the moment.

"E-Excuse me! I mean, um... please?" This alerted the guards above her and they both rolled their eyes and sighed.

"You stay here and keep guard, it's probably one of those troublesome women again." Guard number one informed Guard number two, climbing down the ladder. "Yeah, hold on, I'm comin' down." He assured, making Isis smirk, she gripped her blade in her hand, waiting for him to get down a little closer.

"Alright lady, let's make this-" Before he could finish Isis grabbed the back of his collar and grappled him, flipping him over and ramming her knife deep into his throat before he could make any more noise to give her away. But before she knew it, the other guard was making his way down. Isis narrowed her eyes, wondering what in the hell to do since it would be too late to attempt to ambush him.

She turned around to scurry around the barricade, but before she knew it, she heard the guttural cries of the guard and a loud thunk as he hit the concrete. Her gray eyes were wide, wondering who in the hell took him down.

Oh,

She saw an arrow in the man's neck and she smirked deviously. Rick and the others came crawling from under the opening she made months ago.

"Took you long enough girl." Daryl muttered, quickly retrieving his arrow from the dead body and he looted the rest of him for whatever he carried. Isis rolled her eyes, meeting up with the rest by the car.

"Thanks for the save, now that we're in, I need you all to stay together and follow me. If any of you get lost here you'll have to deal with many more of the enemy than just these. Now let's go."

Glenn, Shane and T-Dog looked to each other and nodded, but Shane on the other hand narrowed his eyes at the girl. The way she commanded and lead the others was something. She was a tough girl indeed. A girl he'd have to definitely keep his eyes on.

Artemis finally sliced off the thick ropes and dropped the scalpel she gripped between her teeth. Her wrists were stinging painfully, deep welts and cuts decorated her tanned skin but she ignored it. Slowly standing up, her legs wobbled. The drug was still coursing through her veins so she was still weak. The gnawing in her stomach from going days without food became more notable and her mouth was dry.

Though this didn't stop her from trying.

Grunts and groans escaped her lips as she shuffled her legs more and more making her way to the door, she huffed, her heart thumping in her chest, adrenaline waking her up from her hazy thoughts. Trembling hands gripped the cold doorknob leading out to freedom but her heart fell into her stomach as she tugged and pushed.

The door was locked. Tch, she should've known better. Jacob was prepared for her since he knew she had a rare but violent nature. She turned her back to the door and slid down the metal. Her legs giving out and the haziness returning. Ugh, she was so tired and drowsy. Her wrists were numb and she rolled her eyes even though they were closed. The heart that kept her alive was still pumping rapidly. Breath shallow while sweat trickled down her all too warm skin. She had to figure out a way to get out of this place, but how? There was only one window, but it was one that she couldn't fit through. She was too weak to even attempt anyway and the door she was leaning on behind her was locked and there was no way in trying to pry it open.

She looked down at her trembling hands and frowned. Perpetual thoughts of the others crossed her mind. Especially Daryl Dixon.

I wonder if they're even on their way to come and find me.

She stopped herself at that thought and blinked. It surprised her that she was hoping for the others to come and save her. She snorted and shook her head. No. There was no way in hell she was going to let herself become that . . . clichéd damsel in distress female. She refused to let herself get that way. She survived just fine with without the others and she sure as hell was going to save herself without their help. After her little sister went missing, she hated herself for it and vowed to never trust another living soul. It was her fault that she trusted Jacob. And look where it led her, her sister was missing – and most likely out somewhere dead because of her idiotic and desperate mistake.

She mulled and mulled over and over again about her failures (ever since the world went to nothing) and her twin sister, falling half asleep in the process until she heard muffled voices and a few shadows darkening the room. Shit, it was them coming to check on her again. A lump formed in her dry throat as she crawled rather quickly back to her chair, taking a few pieces of the rope she cut and wrapping it around her wrists to make it appear as if she were still restrained. Before that however, she placed the silver scalpel back on the table and she bowed her head, making it appear as if she were just now waking up. The click of several locks and a rattle of chains broke the silence of the dark room. Artemis narrowed her now silver eyes.

"Hmph, well look at that Sam, Vixie's finally awake I see," The sound of Kevin – the one who carried her all the way here while she was unconscious said, smirking at Artemis as she looked up in a feeble manner and snarled, baring her teeth at him. She curled her toes, pressing her ankles against the legs of the chair to hide the fact that they were no longer restrained with ropes.

"Welcome back sweetheart. Nice to see you awake and functioning again." Sam shook snickered and shook his head, brushing a hand through his short, copper hair. "But unfortunately the boss wants to make sure that you're not functioning well enough to get anything clever under your sleeve." Artemis' narrowed eyes widening once she saw the needle in Kevin's hand as he smirked, advancing towards her more and more.

Oh no...crap. They're going to drug me again.

She growled at Sam. "Get that shit away from me..." She balled her fists, this was the time now to act. If she didn't she'd never get another chance like this and she'd be stuck here for a while longer – drugged. Her hands and arms twitched as she readied them to move quickly, shaking off the fear building in her as excitement replaced it. She noticed that she could think clearly now. She wasn't about to give up and go back to being a vegetable.

Kevin grabbed her forearm tightly and she immediately reacted fiercely. Her sharp teeth bit into the arm that Kevin wielded the needle in, emitting a loud yell from the large man. Artemis was in overdrive now, the adrenaline flowed through her veins like a race car on a track. Snagging the scalpel once Kevin dropped the drug that would put her out she pierced his chest but not deep enough and backed away. Wild midnight hair falling in her line of vision as she put her war face on.

"Think again bastards. You got me once," She charged towards Sam screaming, "BUT YOU WON'T GET ME AGAIN!" She swung the scalpel across the man's face, slicing just below his right eye and over his nose, stunning him. She was just opposite of the door – to freedom and Kevin was standing up again, blocking her way. His hand clung to his chest, crimson blood oozing over and down his hand, soaking his shirt.

"You little bitch. . . how did you. . . how did you get loose?" He questioned, the needle back in his hand, still determined to put her down. She gave a grim smirk, shaking her feral hair out of her face.

"You must have forgotten who I am. I'll always find a way out." She murmured, back against the wall as the man advanced towards her again. Slicing him up would put her in danger of getting stabbed and drugged, she had to think of another way. She targeted the chair in front of her that she occupied a few minutes ago. Her hands twitched. Sam growled and walked faster toward her and she gripped the chair, though she was too late to lift it over her head and smash him with it. Instead she shoved it towards him and went around.

"Argh!" As she stunned Kevin and headed towards the exit, something snaked around her ankle and gripped it tightly, tripping her. She was falling and reacted too slowly to catch herself, thus hitting her head against the wall. Her vision was blurred and she had a raging headache, though it didn't stop her from kicking and pulling herself away from the incoming needle that now Sam had.

"You're not getting away from us bitch!" The copper haired enemy straddled her, blood dripping onto her face from his cut that still hadn't healed. The needle in his hand, he injected the serum into her arm, making her cry out. She gripped her scalpel that was knocked out of her hand and stabbed him in the chest, sending the blood splattering and gushing on her face. A guttural cry was heard afterward and she continued stabbing, teeth grinding against each other as she poured out all of her hate.

Ragged breathes she took as she moved from the bloody corpse and quickly wrangled the other off her back. Tugging the needle that was nested deep in her arm and using it to impale Kevin in his neck. She watched as his mouth pooled with blood and ran over his lips. He choked, his body convulsing. His vision blurring, watching the petite bloodied figure in front of himself exit the room, shutting the door afterward.

Artemis groaned, leaning against the wall as she held her arm that was stabbed, she knew she only had about at least twenty minutes before the drug started to work on her body. She slowed down her panting, keeping track of how much time went by. The bloody scalpel was still in her hand but she knew once she got out of this building, she was going to need more that just a simple surgical tool.

She grunted and jogged down the hall, making sure to keep an eye out for trouble. The perpetual throbbing in her head made it hard for her to see as she moved quickly but she vowed to herself to never stop until she was in a safer place again. She brushed her hair out of her face and slowed her jog down to a walk. She didn't want to speed up the drug anymore that she already has since she was feeling light headed now. She narrowed her eyes as the hallway was dim due to the lights. Her eyes were still adjusting and it annoyed her.

She finally reached the door to her possible exit. As she placed her hand on the knob, she heard voices on the other side and she sighed, getting tired having to wait. But she knew it wasn't an option. She moved into a dark alcove next to the door and waited, ignoring the buzz in the back of her mind as the drug was spreading rather quickly. She was holding out as much as she could. The voices were louder and the door opened, she narrowed her eyes, ready to take out the weakest person. A man walked passed her and she waited for a minute or so and a woman a bit older than her passed the door too, stopping however to close and lock the door back.

This was her chance. She had a gun on her and Artemis needed it. She gripped the woman's blouse and quickly pierced directly into her heart, muffling her screams with as much force as she could apply, pulling her into the dark alcove. She plunged the scalpel deeper into her chest to make sure she'd stay dead. Once she stopped moving, Artemis wobbled a bit but grabbed her gun and cleaned out her pockets for ammo. Wiping the blood on the unnamed lady, she left her there and went to the door.

"Lisa? What's taking you so. . . Hey!? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!" It seemed the man finally caught on that his partner hadn't caught up to him and Artemis paid the price for it. She turned around and gave him a lazy smirk.

"Goodbye." She muttered, slipping out of the door.

The man finally figured out who it was that escaped. His heart dropped, he couldn't believe that he'd let her slip so easily away from him, and his partner had to pay for it. He stood there. Waiting. Watching. Wondering. That could have been him she decided to kill – but it wasn't. Oh man, he had to let the boss know.

He ran out of that building so fast blurting out–

"THE PRISONER HAS ESCAPED! THE PRISONER HAS ESCAPED!"

Artemis heard loud and clear of the alarm the man had set off and she smirked slightly, she knew she pretty much just fucked herself but hey, even in this shitty world, you have to live a little. Her legs quivered when she stopped to take a breather, her eyes dropped slightly. It wouldn't be too long before she'd be on the ground crawling instead of walking. She watched as many of the guards and Jacob's henchmen popped out of everywhere, clearing the residents off the street and into their homes. Many carried automatic weapons and she hoped she could snag one before she fell out. She cocked her .45 and kept her hands tight on it, her index finger to pull the trigger since she hasn't played one of these in a while. She fell against the wall, the dizziness making her lose her sense of equilibrium, but she continued to push forward. Staying within earshot of everyone she came across while hiding in the shadows simultaneously as much as she could.

She was quite angry with herself that she was drugged yet again, this would have been the perfect opportunity for her to take out Jacob and destroy him for what he's done to her family. Or what's left of it.

She stopped to catch her breath once again, making to to stay unseen but it seemed that she had already been caught onto. Someone grabbed her by the waist, pulling her towards the light. The person's large hand wrapped around her mouth. She tried her damnedest to stop the person from pushing into the light but it was futile. It was stronger than she, so it made her turn to a different approach. She bit the person's hand, drawing blood and when it released her slightly, she grabbed her scalpel, slicing open its hand and pushing it away from her. The voice was manly.

Before she could deliver the finishing blow, she was caught, flashlights shining at her back, the sound of multiple guns clicking at her, ready to fire.

"FREEZE! Put your weapons down and show us your hands now!"

Artemis closed her eyes, turning her head slightly, looking directly into the light, her wild hair flaring in her face. She never moved just yet.

"I SAID NOW!" The guard hollered at her again, watching the girl in front of him sway back and forth.

She rolled her eyes, running a hand through her hair.

"Make me."
