Chptr 11
Walking through the portal, Optimus and Blue were welcomed to the sight of what appeared to be an endless forest of evergreen trees. They stood tall and proud with their needles blowing in the breeze and the scent of the sap following them. It was still early morning, so the area was dark and even the sky wasn't showing past the trees. Looking around, Optimus watched as a few animals scurried away from them and even ran past and between their legs.
"This is not what I was expecting." The Prime emitted honestly. In his mind he had pictured Blue Sparrow taking him to an over view of a city; lights flashing, horns blaring, all the typical things a city offered. "Well, what did you expect? I am no city girl I can tell you that. All mud and dirt, no fancy clothes and makeup." Blue said as she started down the path that only she knew. Following her closely, Optimus could see how whenever a tree touched Blue's wings it would make them twitch but not in an annoyed away. They twitched like she was enjoying the touch and feel of the trees.
"So, where are we going?" Optimus asked as he walked over a fallen tree. "I want to keep it a secret but I will tell you this... Watch you helm." At first Optimus didn't understand but when a large branch came right in his face, he smiled as he ducked under it. "Thank you." Thinking about what Blue said earlier, Optimus had a question he needed to ask. "So am I correct in saying you lived in the country?"
"Yes, you are correct. I lived in a small town, actually, it wasn't even considered a town by how small it was." Blue started as she turn left and off the path. "But it was mostly a farming and fishing town. During the summer it would be jam-packed with tourists who spent most of the days on the lakes but otherwise it was empty all year round." Listening with high interest, Optimus noticed how when Blue began speaking of her home her wings began to droop. Even the large femme couldn't hide the fact she missed home somewhat.
"I was raised more like a Tom-boy, to coin the human phrase, and my parents always took me places where we would camp for a few days. That's how I found this spot. My mom and I went off the trail and found this spot." Blue said as she pushed back some trees and allowed the last minute night light shower over her and Optimus.
Looking out, Optimus was shocked and amazed at what he was seeing. They were standing up on a mountain side, overlooking a valley that was filled with trees, flowers, and a long river. The cliff edge they were on allowed them to see everything the valley had to offer and then some as the morning sun began to rise up from the horizon line and it lit the whole area up in a blaze of warm colors. Pinks, yellows, and orange colors bounced off the plants and river and gave them this shimmering and crystal like appearance.
Smiling at the familiar view, Blue sat down with her pedes over the edge of the cliff and looked up at Optimus. "Are you just going to stand there gawking, or are you going to sit down?" She asked and it made the Prime shake his helm before taking a seat down next to her. "This... is an amazing view." Optimus said as he watched what looked to be a red fox scamper into a bush with it's morning breakfast.
"Yeah, it is. Back home, whenever I stayed at my Grandma and Papa's house, I would look out my bedroom window and see the same glowing sun. But this place always tops the two of them." Blue said as she swung her legs back and forth. Looking at Optimus, Blue couldn't help but laugh when she saw the huge smile on his face. "See? Getting out more clears away even the stuffiest of people." Laughing as well, Optimus had to agree. This was rather relaxing.
"Your world has much to offer." Optimus said as he and Blue looked out as the sun continued to rise. "As long as you take the time to notice them." Blue added as she raised her wings to feel the warmth the sun gave. "So... What is it like?" Optimus asked. "To be human?" Shrugging her shoulders, Blue leaned back on her arms and closed her optics. "I guess it like being a Cybertronian, besides the metal bodies and huge sizes of course. But if you ask me, I would rather be this than a stupid little human."
Raising an optic brow, Optimus turned so he could look at Blue Sparrow better. "Why do you say that?" he asked. "Well, don't get me wrong but being human is boring and down right frightening." Blue responded as she laid herself down on the grass with her servos behind her helm. "Everyday it's the same thing. Wake up, go to school or work, come home, argue with someone, and finally go to bed and get ready to repeat it again." Blue rolled her two colored optics as she remembered doing this herself. "And than there's all the dangers. Death, murder, war, The human people know nothing on peace!"
Listening closely, Optimus couldn't help but feel pity and wonder at how Blue's old life was like. "You bots, you guys live a hundred times longer than any human can dream of. And the Autobots fight for peace and equality. The humans can never do any of those. In my mind, being a Cybertronian is a gift." Sitting herself back up, Blue looked Optimus deeply into his optics. "I never want to go back home. My life was such a drag that I wanted to run off and make my own adventure." Sighing loudly, Optimus placed his servo on Blue Sparrow's shoulder.
"But what of your family? I bet even now they are worrying about you." Shaking her helm, but leaning into his touch, Blue looked back out to the view. "Maybe, but... We would argue so much, I bet their having a field day without me in the way or being a bother." Listening to her, Optimus felt very sad to hear how she felt. No one should say and feel things like this, human or Cybertronian.
"In the end, I am sure we will find a way to fix all this." Optimus said and Blue smiled up at him. "Thanks Optimus." For a while, the two only looked at each other. Not saying a word, just looking into each other's glowing optics. They may have stayed like this for a longer time... if they both hadn't been screamed at through the comm. link.
"WHERE ARE YOU TWO!?" Ratchet's voice shouted out making both Optimus and Blue jump back in surprise. "We are alright Ratchet, we just went out for a patrol." Optimus lied through the comm. link, not wanting Ratchet to think the opposite of what had happened here. "Well, get your afts back over here right now! Especially Blue Sparrow. This concerns her more than anything." Ratchet said and it made the femme's body tense up. "Is it Lilac?" she asked. "... I'll let her explain when you get here. I'm sending a ground bridge for you." Ratchet said as the line went dead.
Quickly getting up, Blue stood there waiting for the bridge with a worried expression plastered on her face. "What could she have done now?" she said to herself but Optimus was able to hear it anyway. "I am possitive that it is nothing serious. If it was, Ratchet would have told us." Optimus said as he stood up next to Blue Sparrow. "Well... I will be the judge of that when I see Lilac." Looking back, Optimus and Blue watched as a bridge opened up and quickly they went through it.
Arriving at the base in a hurry, Blue and Optimus were welcomed to an empty main room. Just as Blue Sparrow was about to walk towards the med-bay, Optimus stopped her with his servo gripping her's. "You need to calm down. Like I said before, Lilac is going to be alright." Shaking his servo off her's, Blue gave him a look with her red optic flickering wildly.
"He wouldn't call if she was fine." the large femme scoffed as she turned away and walked towards the med-bay. Frowning in defeat, Optimus had to agree. Ratchet was not a bot to call for just a friendly chat. He wanted to comfort Blue, but he was unsure as to how he should do that. Blue was not like Lilac, in thinking logically, but Optimus knew the large femme wasn't illogical either. What she lacked in logic, she made up for in her caring and dependable nature.
"NO, NO, AND NO! THE SCANNERS HAVE TO BE WRONG!" Lilac's voice shouted from the med-bay, already showing that she was not pleased with something. With her worry now added with her friend's screams, Blue rushed through the doors with the Prime following close behind.
When the two entered the room, they were shocked to see what had become of the med-bay in their absence. The room was covered in thick ice, stalagmites and stalactites came off the floor and ceiling in thick layers and a a chilling breeze blew through the room with hints of snow flying around them.
And off in a corner of the room sat the terrified form of Lilac Frost with her legs pulled to her chest and her arms covering her helm. Not too far from her was Ratchet who was bent down on his knee trying to get her out from her spot but was trying not to get too close or his servo might just get covered in ice. Looking closely at the mech, Blue notice that Ratchet's optics had this almost betrayed look in them but still that the look of him wanting to help.
"Your frame wont stand a chance against her cold Ratchet." Blue said as she walked over to him and looked at her friend. "Mine on the other hand can." Walking over to her friend's sad form on the floor, Blue slowly sat down next to her and pulled her close. She could feel the ice and cold hitting at her frame, but when Lilac finally registered who it was that was holding her the ice backed off from the neon colored femme.
"What happened Lilac?" Blue asked as she felt her friend's servos quickly wrap around her middle, breaking the ice that had formed on the lavender femme's limbs. "I...I.. I'm..." Lilac tried to speak but found words failing her and only pushed her helm into Blue Sparrow's chest plates. "What could be that bad that she wont say it aloud?" Blue asked as she looked over at Ratchet who was standing next to Optimus, a good and safe distance away.
"Are you going to tell them or am I?" The medic asked with a sour tone on him. Not even looking up at the group around her, Lilac shook her helm and felt a few frozen tears fall from her optics. Letting out a huff, Ratchet shook his helm before crossing his arms over his chest plates. "Well, she has gone and gotten herself sparked up. By who she wont tell me but I made a educated guess it was someone on the Decepticon ship."
Fear, shock, and horror covered Blue and Optimus' face so quickly that even the fastest bot wouldn't be able to react that fast. Pulling her friend closer, Blue looked down at Lilac Frost with a calmer expression. "Is it true Lilac? Was it a Decepticon?" Blue asked hesitantly but with a firm tone. Blue could and couldn't believe that something like this happened. Back home, both femmes had a very big thing for the 'Cons and would talk on end how they looked so amazing.
"I...It...it wasn't my fault." Lilac whimpered out, muffled by Blue's chest plates. Raising their optic ridges in a questioning manner, Optimus and Ratchet stared down at the small femme. "Maybe you should explain." Optimus asked and Lilac nodded slowly. Lilac slowly pushed her self a little loose from blue's arms and her gaze locked onto the floor.
"When I was on the Nemesis," Lilac began with her voice shaking. " the first night Knock Out wanted to do some diagnostics on me. When he finished he offered me a cube of energon. I hadn't refueled for the whole day so I took it without thinking. Yet... it tasted off somehow." Lilac said with a shudder. Almost tasting the flavor right there. "I didn't give it much thought, but we kept on drinking one after the other. After so many I then blacked out."
Not liking where this was going, Blue absentmindedly gripped her friend tightly and rested her own helm on her smaller companion's. "When I woke up I... was on a berth with Knock Out." At hearing that one little statement, everyone knew right away what had happened. They didn't need more from Lilac, but she went on anyway. "I looked around and saw the empty cubes and later figured out that he had been giving me high grade, I thought I had just crashed, and he had taken me to his room to rest up."
Sighing lightly, Lilac felt a little better telling them but at the same time she had this dirty and uneasy feeling on her. Looking down at the femme, Ratchet's harsh looks fell and he shook his helm. 'She didn't know.' Ratchet thought. 'She's only a youngling.'
"It would make sense that you didn't know it was high grad, being that you never have tasted it before." Optimus said as he gave Ratchet a look. Already knowing what he was thinking, Ratchet nodded and stepped forward. "This whole situation happened under a bad call, yes, but if you wish to terminate this... we will not judge you."
Looking up at the medic in horror, Lilac took her arms off Blue and held them around her middle and Blue held her closer with her wings flaring up. "How could you even suggest that!" Blue shouted at the medic, and Lilac nodded. "I will not prevent someone living a life just because something stupid happened to me!" Lilac growled as she buried herself into her larger friend's safe embrace.
Nodding his helm furiously, Ratchet held up his servos. "very well, you don't have to do it but then I'm confining you to this base." Ratchet said as he pointed a digit to the floor to give the femmes an image of how serious he was being. "This is to prevent anything harming the sparkling and you will need to be put on a special energon diet." Ratchet said as he walked over to a computer to type this up.
Sighing loudly, Lilac and Blue watched as the ice that covered the room slowly began to disappear and evaporate. Once the ice was gone, Blue stood up and helped her friend do the same. "Feel better?" she asked and Lilac nodded. "Much. Thank you, all of you."
Nodding his helm, Optimus turned to leave. "It is still early, maybe you two should go and relax in you room. I will inform the others of this later." Watching the mech leave, Blue frowned but quickly shook it away as she looked down at her smaller friend. "how about we go to our room? I wanna talk with you a bit more, if you don't mind?" Shrugging her shoulders, Lilac turned to look at Ratchet who was still at the computers. Walking over to him, Lilac placed a servo on his shoulder. "I'll come by later to... talk about that energon diet."
Pausing his digits from typing, Ratchet looked over his shoulder before sighing. "Very well." Seeing that he was going back to his work, Lilac frowned and turned to follow Blue Sparrow out of the med-bay. "Don't worry, things will get better from here out." Blue said as she placed her arm over her friend's shoulders. "Yeah... on a lighter note, How was your date with Boss Bot?!" Lilac said in her normal happy tone.
Her optics going wide, Blue shook her helm and Lilac could have sworn that she saw steam coming off her helm. "It was not a date!" Blue shouted but it only made Lilac laugh, which she really need. "Sure, you keep on telling yourself that. Maybe someday you will believe it." Smiling down at her small friend, Blue used her open servo to lightly slug Lilac on her cheek.
"You know something? You can be a real pain in my aft." Blue said as they reached their room. "But I would't trade you for any other pain in the aft." Smiling at her friend's words, Lilac nodded as she opened the door. "You are just stuck with me till the end of time."
