CHAPTER XI – S.O.S

"No. I… I don't know" Allison interrupted her thoughts with the most ambiguous answer she could have ever given her.

"What do you mean you don't know?" That was not the answer Eva was hoping for.

"I like you a lot, ok? That's it." concluded the blonde. She didn't want to open up so fast and give the space to Eva to hurt her, but she loved her; she loved everything about her. "You're free to run away, to go back inside or whatever you want to do" Allison looked away and slowly closed her eyes waiting for Eva to stand up and leave. Instead, she touched her shoulder to make her look at her and kissed her placing her hand on Ali's cheek. Eva's lips were cold but they still got to raise Ali's body temperature. They separated.

"I don't think I want to run away" said Eva in a very low voice looking directly into Allison's eyes. She didn't know exactly what she wanted, but she was sure Ali was one of those things.

"What does that mean?" asked the blonde. If there was something Eva did was confuse her. They stared at each other for a moment. Jefferson came out the bar and interrupted them.

"Come! Belle's dancing! She's so drunk right now, it's hilarious!" screamed the guy running towards them, grabbing them both by the arms and taking them inside. 'S.O.S' by Abba was playing. It was the craziest scene Ali had ever seen; Belle dancing around with everyone, standing on the pool table and kicking the balls in the wholes. Allison was having so much fun, in spite of the interruption. 'Live for the Night' by Krewella started playing after 'S.O.S' and they all went totally crazy. They spent a couple more hours in the bar and then left to the RR parking lot. Killian, Whale and Jefferson stayed chatting about make up and hats and dead people.

"See you on Monday people!" cheerfully said Ruby as she helped her girlfriend get in her car; she couldn't even stand up straight. Ruby started her car and whizzed off.

"Ok, I'll gooo hmmmeeee wlkng" mumbled Graham. He was drunker than Belle, as always. He started walking towards the hospital. Eva looked at Ali with a conspiratorial smile and laughed. Grabbed him and put him in the back of her car.

"I'll drive you home Graham, don't worry" said the brunette still laughing as she closed the door. "Are you coming?" she faced the blonde and invited her to get in.

"A ride? Again? Are you going to charge me for that?" joked Allison; she got close to the car.

"Maybe. I'll think about it" replied Eva smiling. They both hopped on the Chevrolet.

"Oh my, it's warm in here" said the blonde pleased. Eva smiled again. She put her seatbelt on and gently hit the apple hanging from the rearview mirror with her index finger.

"Excuse me?!" enquired the brunette a little bit irritated. She didn't like people touching the apple.

"I excuse you, chop chop!" said Ali tapping on the dashboard twice and ignoring Eva's fiery look. The brunette was trying to sound offended but she still burst out laughing. Ali was behaving like a little girl; she found it amusing and… adorable. Eva started the car and drove a long way to Graham's house. He was sleeping in the back, Ali turned every five minutes to see if he was still breathing.

"Is he always like this?" asked Allison amused. Eva was focused on the road.

"Like what? Drunk? Yeah" replied the brunette. "At least he doesn't drink at work or he would have been fired by now" she added still with her eyes fixed on the pavement.

"He's fun tho" Ali didn't know what else to say. The situation was uncomfortable and the silence was killing her. She took off her red leather jacket and laid it on her lap. Eva couldn't help but look at the passenger that was now wearing a white tank top and tight jeans. The brunette bit her lip lightly.

"What are those names?" asked the driver curiously looking at Ali's wrists tattoos "I've been meaning to ask since I saw them the other day" she turned her head back to the road.

"David was the name of my father, and Mary was my mom" answered the blonde remembering them and smiling at the same time.

"That's nice" Eva didn't like tattoos but there was something cute about those two. Maybe it was because their parents had passed away, or maybe it was because she liked every single thing about the blonde sitting right beside her. The silence struck again. Allison was looking out the window and thinking about her childhood, her first home, her first pet, her first school. Eva's mind was haunting her about something totally different. "Hey Ali" she interrupted her thoughts "remember a couple of months ago, when we were at the cafeteria and you asked if I was ok and you told me I could trust you and then you ate my apple and I left?"

"Yes…" the youngest was confused; she didn't know where the conversation was going. She rubbed her own hands that were now sweating and crossed her legs.

"Well, that was…" Eva stopped talking in sign of hesitation; she cleared her throat and continued. "I was thinking about you when you appeared" confessed the brunette rubbing her own neck with her right hand. She was sweating too.

"What were you thinking about?" inquired the blonde. She was a little bit afraid of the answer but she wanted to know so badly she asked anyway. She was so nervous she opened the glove compartment without asking for permission, took a bottle of Minute Maid and started reading its ingredients, as if she cared. They could hear snoring coming from the back seat.

"That was the first time I thought of you that way, you know. I thought my mind was playing games with me because you were new and smart but then these feelings continued; one week, two weeks, three… Then my birthday came up and you organized this awesome party and gave me the best gift someone could have ever given me. I remember thinking 'why does she care so much?' and a couple of hours later you kissed me and all the pieces suddenly fit in their right place. I freaked out, I know; that was because I felt a thousand things inside and I didn't know what to do with that; I'm sorry" Eva admited to Ali. The blonde was speechless; she didn't know what to say or what to do. Both of them were trying to avoid each other's eyes. The passenger was happy but overwhelmed by Eva's words and the driver was fighting with herself to calm down and breathe. No one said anything until Eva slowed down and asked Ali if she could help her get Graham out of the car.

"Hey buddy, wake up" whispered Ali to the guy sleeping in the back of the car as she shook him with her hands. Graham slowly opened his eyes.

"Whaaa?" he sat up and his hair was so messy that both Eva and Allison started laughing at him. They took him to the entrance and looked for the keys in his coat pocket. Opened the door and left him on the living room couch; still laughing. They left the house and got in the car, both turning red and getting a stomach ache; they couldn't stop. Seeing the other laugh made them laugh even harder.

'What the hell was that?' thought Graham from the couch. He had been pretending to be asleep the whole trip, and he had heard everything.
