Chapter-11

Of Trains, Constellations and Plushies

Upon arriving at the library, the trio headed straight towards an empty aisle, where Lucy drew out her copy of the Book of Portals and tossed it into the air.

"The main hall!" She ordered.

When the portal appeared, Natsu gave Lucy a thumbs-up and a grin and Happy congratulated her before they all leapt in.

As they appeared in the main hall, Lucy saw, with a sweatdrop, that all of the librarians were brawling. Natsu jumped into the fight and Lucy made her way to the bar carefully, making sure not to get hit by any flying chairs, tables, stools, mugs….well, you get the picture.

"Lucy!" Mirajane waved to the blonde enthusiastically. "Good to see you!"

"Hi!" Lucy waved back happily. "What's up?"

"Nothing much," Mira smiled. "What about you?"

Lucy held up her keys. "I made contracts with each of my spirits! Well, all of them except Aquarius."

A worried frown appeared on Mira's face. "Didn't it drain your magic a lot? I've heard that Celestial Magic tends to do that, especially when you're new to it."

"Yes, it did," Lucy admitted. "But Natsu took me to a magic restaurant. The food there increased my magic power so I'm as good as new."

"That's good to know," Mira breathed before a sly smile crept over her face. "You say that Natsu took you there?"

"Yeah, why?"

Mira smiled a lot more widely before beckoning to Happy, who was watching the brawl avidly. "Oh, Happy~"

The blue feline looked over and then flew towards them. "Mira, I almost forgot, I've got something to tell you!"

Mirajane's smile only grew. "Well, I have something to ask you~" she cooed. "So why don't we go into the kitchen and talk it out~?"

"Aye!" Happy chirped and the two of them disappeared into the kitchen behind the bar,

Lucy was left standing there alone. She blinked.

"….what just happened?"

"You sold your soul to the devil, that's what," A voice said from behind Lucy. The blonde swung around. A boy with spiky raven hair and grey eyes stood there.

"What do you-WHERE IS YOUR SHIRT?!"

The boy jumped. "Not again!" He growled and ran off to look for the aforementioned item.

"Hold on….." Lucy muttered. "You wouldn't happen to be Gray, would you?"

"Yeah," He came back, buttoning up his shirt. "How'd you know?"

"Natsu told me about you," Lucy answered. "Er, do you know where Levy is?"

Gray shoved his hands in his pockets. "She's been in the Archive, reorganizing some stuff." Upon seeing Lucy's blank look, he chuckled and hastened to elaborate. "It's where all of the guild's magical records are kept. C'mon, I'll take you there."

"Um, thanks."

He led her to a door on the other side of the guild. Upon opening it, Lucy was interested to note that there was a long, winding staircase that went way down, probably underground or something. Magic lanterns floated above the stairs, their soft golden light illuminating the path.

As they climbed down, Lucy struck up a conversation.

"So, what'd you mean by saying that I 'sold my soul to the devil'?"

Gray shrugged. "Mira's a matchmaking demon. Enough said."

Lucy looked horrified. "Then you mean….she-I-Natsu….no, no, no," Lucy moaned. "I barely know the guy, she can't set me up with him!"

Gray shrugged again. "Better get used to it. She'll probably try to match you up with all the guys in the guild until she finds your 'perfect match'. Anyway, why'd you want to see Levy?"

Lucy brightened. "She gave me this really cute pouch to hold my keys with!" The blonde held up said item. "So I want to thank her!"

Gray whistled when he saw the keys dangling from the pouch. "So you really are a Celestial Wizard. The others told me about it, but I didn't believe them."

Lucy raised an eyebrow. "Why on earth not?"

"Celestial Wizards are incredibly rare," Gray stated, running a hand through his hair. "Especially those who are born with the magic instead of having to learn it, like you. You're maybe one of the two or three left in the world."

Lucy's eyebrows shot up into her hairline. "Really? I had no idea!"

Gray nodded and then paused as they reached the end of the staircase. "Here we are."

They stepped into a large room full of towering bookcases overflowing with books, papers and files. Levy was a few feet away from them, balancing on a ladder and reorganizing some shelves.

"I'll be off, then," Gray said, before he departed with a wave.

"Thanks for the help!" Lucy called after him.

Levy then noticed her standing there and gave an excited squeal. "Lucy! Great to see you!"

The minute the blunette climbed down, Lucy engulfed her in a crushing hug.

"Thank you so much for the gift!" Lucy cried. "It was adorable!"

Levy laughed as she pulled away. "Oh, that's alright. Made any contracts yet?"

Lucy nodded and the two girls plopped down among the books and papers littering the ground. Within minutes, their laughter and chatter filled the once silent archive.

Presently, there was a ting-like sound from Lucy's bag, interrupting the conversation.

"That must be your soulmate book!" Levy said excitedly. "C'mon, hurry up and open it!"

Lucy pulled it out of her bag and opened it. The picture form yesterday had been replaced-with the picture of a train.

Lucy blinked. Then-

"IS THIS THING FOR REAL?!"

Levy giggled. "Your soulmate likes trains then, huh Well he may dislike them. This books shows both.

Lucy mumbled something about 'stupid magical world and how she was going to go crazy before the year ended'.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Natsu and Gray had gotten into another fight. Well, there was nothing weird about that, but what was weird, was when Natsu's soulmate book (which he had left on a random table) tingled and the pinkette shot off to open it.

"Oi!" Gray barked. "Don't just run off!"

Natsu ignored him in favor of inspecting the book's latest photo.

A picture of a starry night sky with all 12 zodiac constellations present had appeared on the page.

"Wow," Natsu muttered.

Gray, who was looking over his shoulder, was about to comment when his name was called.

"Oi, Gray!"

He turned to see Cana, a young woman with wavy brown hair and striking violet eyes waving him over. His own soulmate book, which had patterns of ocean waves painted on its cover was in her hand.

Gray sighed in exasperation and trudged over to her. "Cana, how many times do I have to tell you to not go snooping though my things?!"

Cana grinned, her eyes sparkling with laughter. "Forget that. Here, have a look at your latest picture."

Snatching the book away, Gray opened it. His jaw dropped.

"ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDDING ME?!"

Natsu ran over to see what the shouting was about and instantly doubled up in laughter when he saw the book.

There was a picture of about a 100 plushies of Gray. It didn't help that they were shirtless.

"Ice-freak, it looks like your soulmate's favorite thing is you!"

"Oh, SHUT UP!"
