Gravity Falls.
"Dip, please tell me there's more to this." Sam said, a note of desperation in his voice after being told that Trixie was nowhere to be found.
"I wish I could." Dipper was as upset as Sam, with all that's going on...he was terrified at what could have happened to her. His voice trembled slightly as he implored Sam to do something, anything, that would make sure their Trixie was safe. "S-Sam, we looked all over for her, but we coul-"
Before Dipper could finish Sam disappeared, literally vanishing before their eyes, leaving only air where he had been moments ago.
Dipper looked open mouth at Mabel, dumbstruck, and completely confuse as to what happened. He took off his hat, and scratched his head. This confusion didn't last very long, because after a brief moment Sam reappeared.
Sam expression was hallowed, and serious. "She's not in town." He said, a fire burning behind his eyes.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Back'er up! Where'd you look?" Mabel inquired. Like Dipper, she didn't understand fully what happened.
"Everywhere."
"Wha? You were only gone for like, a second."
"When I say I looked everywhere, I mean I looked everywhere. She's not in Gravity Falls."
Andri could tell that a combination of dread and rage was building inside Sam. She might not be able to read his mind and emotions like she could with other people, but she knew him well enough to understand that right now his big brother instincts were kicking into high gear. He was very protective of all his loved ones, but with his "little sister," he'd tear anyone apart who'd try to hurt her, and enjoy doing it just a little bit more.
Sam murmured under his breath, "Darn it! Darn it! Darn it!"
Dipper placed his hand on Sam's shoulder. He's unsure what to say to Sam, but quickly finds the answer by wondering what Sam would say to him if Mabel had gone missing. "Calm down. We'll find her, bro. Lets talk to your dad. He may not know anything, but he's a good place to start."
Sam took a deep breath, then exhaled. "Good idea. Thanks, man."
With that they left. Andri took Sam's hand, knowing that having someone there just to give you a little affection can make all the difference in the world. They headed to city hall, which was the most likely place they'd find Mr. Sanctuary.
While they went, Dipper was thinking. "Um, hey, Sam!"
"Yeah, man?"
"Um...how did you manage to look "everywhere?" I know you can speed up your presence in time so that to you it looks like everything's stopped, but that takes a lot out of you. To search all of Gravity Falls...how'd you pull that off? I didn't think you had that kind of power."
"Yeah...I was meaning to talk to you guys about that. I'm not sure what's going on, but I think I'm getting stronger"
Mabel gave a big excited grin, shaking a little. "Does that mean you can kick Azazel's butt now?!"
"Ummm...Sorry, Mabes, but I wouldn't go that far. Azazel's a full on devil, and I'm still just a Power. He could take out an entire garrison of my kind."
Mabel's heart sank, and she pouted. The others weren't very happy with how Sam had compared himself to Azazel. To Sam's knowledge, it was accurate. Not very encouraging, but accurate.
"I don't know how, but I am getting stronger. And there was this thing Azazel said, about me putting wards around the entire town. I don't know what he was talking about, but apparently they provided enough protection to stop Azazel from simply blowing up the whole town after he got what he wanted."
"Say what?"
"I don't even know. Strange things are happening behind the scenes, and if that's coming from someone who's lived in Gravity Falls their whole life, you know it's bad. Plus, I think...my memories from my other life are coming back. I'm getting all kinds of instincts and impulses telling me things and showing me how to use my powers in ways I've never even considered. Like I have a whole new branch of sense I can use, and learned how to heal that wound Azazel gave me.."
Dipper contemplated this for a second, then took out a notebook he had been using since journal 3 was confiscated, and wrote down everything Sam had told him. "Okay... That could actually be useful. But something's definitely going on, and I'm pretty sure that neither you or Azazel know about it."
Mabel placed her hand over her mouth, and made a buzzing sound in a deep tone. "Paging nerd detective! Have you identified the culprit?"
Dipper stared at what he wrote, then said, "Maybe with all the supernatural creatures and demons showing up, it's effecting your guys' power levels? Feel anything Andri?"
"Nope. I haven't noticed anything different since things went down."
"Hm…" Dipper did some more thinking, naturally. "Well I've got nothing." He tucks the notebook away.
Town Hall
They arrived at town hall soon, finding a few people, not many, but a few, moving about here and there. What they were doing was unclear, possibly they were trying to get answers or solutions to their safety from someone who actually knew what they were doing. They glanced at the children as they passed, some with curiosity, some with awe and fear towards Sam, and some with contempt as their frustrations at not finding what they were looking for got the best of them.
They found the room with Sam's parents where they had met with Dipper and Sam earlier.
"Mom, Dad." Sam announced as they came into the room.
Sam's parents turned to face them as they came in. Solomon Sanctuary remained expressionless, dressed in a white linen robe for some reason, while Sam's mother ran to her son and hugged him. Ariel had been worried he might not com back after last time.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're back." Ariel picked up Sam, and gave him a biiiiig kiss on the cheek. To which Mabel and Andri giggled at how cute his mother's display of affection was.
Sam half-heartedly laughed. "Mom, cut it out!"
Mrs. Sanctuary put her boy down, but not before giving him one last kiss.
Sam's dad looked at them, his gave scanning over them, and making conclusions based on what he observed. "...Trixie's not with you."
"Yeah, that's why we're here." Sam clenched both of his fists, raising them up to level with his chest. "We can't find her, and I'm scared. I literally looked everywhere in town and I couldn't find her."
Solomon looked at his son, his expression blank as always, yet somehow he seemed to emanate compassion and genuine concern. "Give me a moment." He said, the gears in his head turning, stored information within them being searched through and sorted out. He grabbed a map of the area around Gravity Falls, some twine, a strange white powder, and appeared to produce an iron nail out of nowhere. He spread out the map on a table, sprinkling the white powder over it and saying something inaudible. He then tied the iron nail to the twine. "Does anyone have a bit of Trixie? Like some hair, or a nail clipping, or even a tooth."
Dipper said, "Why would we have any of those things?..." He trailed off, a little afraid to find out.
Mr. Sanctuary shrugged. "Kids do strange things with crushes."
"I don't have a crush on her!" Dipper retorted, redness rising on his cheeks as he became flustered.
"I never said you did. But you were the one who jumped to that conclusion when I implied a crush involving Trixie."
Despite how serious this was, Sam couldn't stop himself from letting out just a tiny laugh, to which Mabel giggled along with, and Andri chuckled. Dipper mumbled under his breath, "You're worse than Sam."
Sam's mom smiled down at Dipper, "Where do you think he gets it from? Me? No, Solomon loves giving crud like that, and I love him for it."
"Thank you, sweetie." Solomon examined the nail on the twine. "I hope this works. I'd rather have a piece of her to make it complete, but with how powerful she is, this probably will be enough."
He held the nail on the twine over the map, and let it go. It swung in a circular clockwise motion around the edge of the map, and continued to swing in that way as it closed in towards the inside of the map. It came to stop on the upper right, in a forest of green, the tip of the cold iron nail resting just on the surface of the map, somehow appearing to be pulled their as if a magnet had been applied there.
"That's where you'll find Trixie."
Dipper eyes widened, his inquisitive nature taking over. "What did you just do?"
Mr. Sanctuary's eyes still showed nothing. "The reason fairies are vulnerable to iron is because it absorbs their magic, and creates a charge between them and the metal, burning them. I linked the map to energies, natural and supernatural, around the area it depicts. The nail stopped in the place with the highest concentration of magic energy, which would be where Trixie is. Most likely. Because the energy will attract the cold iron since it is such a powerful conductor."
Mabel eyed the spot. "How do we know for sure? I don't want to run into Sparkler."
Dipper was going to ask the same thing, but he focused on the spot on the map, and after a second, a light bulb clicked in his head." That's the place! The first time Sparkler kidnapped Trixie, she took her to a cave up there. It makes sense that they'd take her to where they're staying."
Sam's eyes glowed. "Then we know where they're hiding, and where they have Trixie!"
"TO BATTLE!" Mabel yelled as she ran out the door.
Five seconds later
Mabel came back into the room. "It occurs to me that I have no idea what to do."
For the first since they showed up, Sam's dad broke his poker face and showed emotion in his expressions. He laughed. For that was "The Power of Mabel." He stopped after a moment, "I might be able to help a little bit. Dipper, may I see your vest." He held out his hand.
Dipper looked at it uncertainly, "Sure…" He takes it off, deciding it was best to just go with it. "Why do you need it?"
Sam's father took Dippers vest, and laid it out. He took a jar full of rock salt, reaching in he removed a handful, and with that handful he began rubbing the vest down with the salt. After he stopped he laid down the vest on its back, spreading it out and clearly exposing the inside. He then took black ink from a phial, dipped a long paint brush in it, and started to draw what appeared to be geometric shapes on the vest, all well chanting slow and steady, like he was singing a melody.
"Whoawhoawhoa! You're ruining my vest!"
Mr. Sanctuary didn't stop. He continued drawing and chanting on the vest, and when he was done a large symbol with several smaller symbols around it was depicted on the inside of the vest. "There." He said, a note of satisfaction in his voice. "Just give it a chance to dry."
Mabel looked at the drawing on it. "Whoooaaa….You're an artist too!? Sam, your dad is sooooo cool!"
Despite how silly that sounded, Sam felt a note of pride for his father, and grinned. "He sure is."
Dipper was examining his vest. "What did you even do to it?"
"You know how fast angels and demons are?"
"Uh, yeah, Sam searched the whole town in like, a second."
"Well what I drew on it stops them from speeding up when they're around you, so they should only be able to move at a human speed. Very useful when the only way you can fight them is with that sword."
Dipper stared at it for another second, not liking the idea of fighting these monsters, then he put it on. "Great."
Sam's dad wasn't finished. "I also have a few more things you'll need." He removes another phial from his white robes, the glass waw clear and crystalline, holding a greenish translucent goo. "Sorry, but I need to put this on your eyes."
"Come again?"
"The ointment lets you see invisible things without practice. Which is very useful given the circumstances."
Dipper looked uncertainly at the gross looking contents of the phial. "...Fine. Just be fast about it. I'm still trying to figure out how to get Trixie back."
Solomon took a dab of the ointment out of the phial, and rubbed it under Dipper's eyes. It was cold, and gelatinous. Not a pleasant experience.
Mabel laughed watching her brother try not to squirm, but Mr. Sanctuary shot her a look. "Don't laugh, you're next."
"Womp-Wa!" Mabel shrugged.
After he was done applying the magic, he had one last gift to give. He removed the silver ring from his middle finger, the disc on the top was divided into three circles, each one within another. Symbols and letters were engraved into the areas between the circles, a tiny, ever so tiny seven pointed star made made up the space within the small circle at the center. "Dipper Pines, you have your sword, now you just need your shield." He turned the ring over, and the silver gleemed.
"What is that?" Sam asked, getting the strangest feeling from that ring.
His father smiled with pride. "It's a Ring of Solomon. Not "me" Solomon, the ancient sorcerer Solomon. I went through a lot of trouble to get this." He held it up to the light, the silver beautiful within the fluorescent bulbs artificial glow. "It's a very powerful magic artifact. Wear it, and when facing a supernatural enemy, hold it up, and you shall be protected from their power. Be it a fairy's magic, and angel's grace, or a demon's hellfire. Hold it in front od you, and you're immune to their spells, curses, and powers."
He tossed it to Dipper, who stared at it in curiousity. He slipped it onto his middle finger, and found that it seemed to change its size and shape to fit him. "How-?"
"Magic! Don't ask about how it works, you'll just get a headache listening to me explain it."
Mabel looked at the ring, and even though this would have made a good opportunity to mock him about wearing jewellery or something, she had to admit, that ring seemed right on him.
Andri, who hadn't said a word since being around the parents of the boy you like is awkward business, found she couldn't be quiet any longer, "Now for the plan. Anyone?"
Dipper spoke up, "I have an idea!" He proceeded to explain it to them, while leaving it open to suggestion since this could very likely backfire.
Mr. Sanctuary was the first to point out a hole in his plan. "For that to work, you'll have to have Azazel away from Trixie, and being kept busy."
Sam perked up. "I can help with that."
"No!" His mother interjected. "Nononono! No! You were very lucky, but there is no way in heaven, hell, or whatever place there is out there that I'm letting you throw yourself at that monster again!"
"Mom, I'm not going to fight him, but I'm going to keep him on his toes long enough for Dipper to get Trixie out."
"Still, NO!"
Solomon placed a hand on his wife's shoulder, and whispered something into her ear. Whatever he said lasted for several minutes, but it struck something with her, for she yielded.
She sighed, and lowered her head. "Fine. But you are grounded for this mister! And YOU!-" She jabs a finger at Solomon's chest. "I hate you so much right now."
Sam didn't know what his dad told her, but at least he wouldn't have to deal his mom immediately. Andri however knew exactly what was said, hearing each word recited and received within their minds, and through these words she for the first time realised the extent of a father's pride in their childre.
Sam spoke now, breaking through the brief silence that ensued. "Now...we'll also need more manpower down on the ground with the townspeople, since Azazel isn't just going to come alone."
Mabel revealed a huge brace filled smile. "Who needs manpower, when we've got MONSTER POWER!?"
"...I like where you're going with this." Sam looked at Dipper, smiling wolfishly, and Dipper smiled back as they thought of where this was heading.
"Oh, and one more thing." Mabel added, coming over to Sam, and giving him a big, snuggly hug. "It's great to have you back, Samwise."
(Not, his name is Samuel, not Samwise. I just had to clarify.)
Dipper&Andri
Above the rolling expanse of forest that grew around Gravity Falls, Andri carried Dipper through the sky, her jet black wings out, and her arms locked around his torso from behind.
The summer wind up in the sky whipped Andri's wavy raven colored hair around as she began to lower herself and him. It was because of this wind that Dipper gripped his cap to keep it from flying away.
Dipper yelled over the air currents to the girl carrying him. "You are really strong for a girl!"
Andri yelled back to him, "And you're really weak for a boy!"
Dipper scowled at her, "You be quiet! And bring me down there!" He pointed to a cave at the top of a mountain. Andri descended, and once the were five feet or so above solid ground, she let go of Dipper, and he landed with a thud. "OW!"
Andri laughed, "Sorry... But not really." She gave him a wink.
Dipper mumbled under his breath, "You and Sam are perfect for each other." He went into the cave while Andri landed outside and waited for him, her wings disappearing.
The cave was dark, with the only light coming from the entrance and the sun outside it. It was big enough to fit a couple homes inside, the walls were grey with a tint of green from the limestone, and bones littered the floor. On a stone rising up out of the floor about a foot or two like a pedestal, a boombox sat, waiting use. Dipper cupped his hands together over his mouth, yelling "Helllloooooooo?!" The echo from his voice traveled through the cave, bouncing off the walls and returning to him.
From deep within the cave, and huge, almost twisted and deformed beast came, moving with great ease and experience for a creature with so many limbs and heads. The Multi-Bear drew itself up to its full height, looking down on the small human. "Greetings, Dipper Pines. It is an honor to see you again."
"Same to you. But I don't have much time to catch up. I need your help, that fairy who corrupted Trixie with dark magic is back, and she has friends."
"What? The let me at her, and for you, I shall tear this treacherous abomination asunder!"
Dipper, despite being a little offput by the Multi-Bear's choice of words, still smiled at his enthusiasm. "Great. Let me catch you up on what's going on, and what we need you to do."
Later
Andri had taken Dipper to a cliffside cave, setting him down at the entrance like she had done the last time, only now she didn't drop him on his butt.
"Thanks for not trying to bruise me this time." Dipper shot to her.
"You're welcome. I'm just so nice." She smiled at him sweetly in her sarcasm, almost sounding like that was genuine granditude, vanishing her wings.
Dipper grumbled again, seeing why Sam liked her so much. He proceeded to enter the cave, leaving her outside to wait for him while he negotiated.
"SQUAAAAAAK!" Screech, the baby griffin came bounding up, first of her siblings to see Dipper.
"Hey, girl!" Dipper held out his arms, and got knocked down when the griffin, who had once been the size of a beagle, but was now at least twice that size, hit him in the chest. She squeaked again, nuzzling him until he pushed her off. "Okay, down, down girl!" He managed to get up from the excited mythical creature.
G.G came trotting up with Featherhead, she chirped.
Dipper looked at the griffin chick who was eyeing him curiously, and looking behind him, like she was expecting something.
"If you're looking for Trixie, that's why I'm here. Where's your momma?"
A sound halfway in between a purr and a growl filled the room, and a massive creature came from within the cave, much like the Multi-Bear did when Dipper called him. Momma Griffin looked down at the scrawny boy, like he could be her next morsal.
Dipper swallowed. "Hi...Momma Griffin. I need your help. You remember Sparkler? The fairy who used dark magic to make Trixie evil, and almost hurt G.G?" The massive beast snarled. "That would be a "yes." Well she's back, she's kidnapped Trixie, and she has someone much more powerful with her this time. We reallyreallyreally need your help! We're getting as much of a force as we can to fight back. We have a plan, but we need you to be part of it."
Momma Griffin snarled, and Dipper knew her answer at once. "Perfect!"
By the lake
Mabel ran up to the lakes and down the docks. She stopped for a moment, taking a breather as she looked out over the blue-green water. She then took out her very own, patented, "shark-whistle," (Don't ask how she got it) and blew it as hard as she could. It generated a sound she couldn't hear, but it wasn't meant for her. After she had blown into it until her cheery face, from her pale skin to her pink cheeks, turned dark blue. She then stopped, inhaled, and fell on her butt.
She gasped lungfuls of air until her face returned to its normal color. She turned over, her long chocolate brown hair flowing along the wooden boards of the docks.
*Splash.*
Mabel shot up to her when she heard the splash, turning around on a dime, and stopping when she found her face was inches away from the face of a dripping wet Christian. "Hiya, Mabel!" The cheerful wereshark's infectious attitude emanated from him, his normal khaki pants that never seemed to retain water hung at his waist, while his upper body was bare. He sniffed Mabel, grinning and enjoying the smell. "Mmmm….Sparkly!"
"Oh, you!" Mabel brushed him off, enjoying the mock-flirting. She then tried to get serious. "Now down to business! Trixie was kidnapped, we're getting her back, and we need your help! What do you say? Did you understand that?" She questioned him, never sure how much English this semi-wild kid understood.
Christian slowly nodded his head. "Wait, here." He pointed at the dock, his grey-blue eyes looking directly into Mabel's brown ones as he tried to make sure she understood the importance of this.
"Um, okay?" Mabel laughed, and once she said that, Christian turned and did a perfect swan dive into the lake, disappearing below the surface of the lake with barely a splash.
Later
Mabel was boooaaared! She had been waiting for at least fifteen minutes, and Christian hadn't come back. She wondered what he was doing. It was a big lake, but he was a ridiculously fast swimmer who practically lived in the lake, and a shape-shifter to top that off. He could make it to the other side of the lake and back in less than a minute. She was twirling a bit of her hair with her finger in her impatience.
She then heard a shifting in the water, as something big and fast approached, stirring up little currants. She turned, and saw a dark shape beneath the water. It arose, and Christian popped up, his mop of curly light brown hair soaked. He pulled himself up onto the docks with his well developed shoulder and back muscles. He shook the water off him like a dog would, getting Mabel wet.
"Aw sick!" Mabel laughed as she wiped water off her face. "Ready to go?"
As she asked that, another large shape came moving through the water, a dark grey fin cutting across the surface. It was then followed by another, and another. They disappeared below the surface, vanishing for a moment, then a large man pulled himself onto the dock, followed by a woman, then a teenager. One by one more came up, all dressed in a clothing of very similar make to Christian's, there were other adults, some elderly, old enough to be Stan's age, while some were children like Dipper and Mabel. There was at least a dozen of them, easily more.
Mabel's eyes were wide as she looked at all of them. "Christian, who are these dudes?"
Christian gave a sharky smile. "Family!"
Sam
Sam was outside a tall abandoned brick building. He darted inside, producing a silvery light from his hand out of apparently nothing. It illuminated the dark halls as he ran up the stairs, heading for the top level. The windows had been boarded up, preventing any light from outside from entering tye building, but that was alright, the ones Sam was looking for prefered the dark. He came out onto the top level, the cold concrete floors was a little dusty, but they got enough action across their surface to keep them from getting too dirty. The support beams holding up the ceiling were also concrete, with the steel inside them reinforcing their strength. The smell of wet cement and leather lingered in the room.
Sam looked over the dark room, the whistled. "Rocky! Bandit!" He called out, and waited.
There was a dead silence, then it was broken by a yapping, and two gargoyle pups came bolting out of the shadows. Rocky was the one with large ram like horns, while Bandit had black markings over his eyes like a mask. Sam got down on his knees, and let them lick his face, the pups happy to see him again. When he and Dipper first came here together these guys had been the size of the griffin chicks, but gargoyles grow fast, and now they were the size of German Shepherds.
Sam scratched under their chin, their thick grey skin was tough, but they still could feel and enjoyed it. "Now where are your guys' parents?"
It was then that Sam noticed the huge forms at the back of the room: Big, powerful, and anxious.
A/N: Happy Valentines day!
