Chapter 11: Great Disaster Part One
The Serpentine had a simple yet sinister plan, and they held one thing that the ninjas cared about in their scaly hands. A certain purple snake chuckled to himself as he thought about their somewhat "secret weapon".
"Pythor, there are rumors that the ninjas have recruited another young female. I heard she's one of Sienna's close friends," the Venomari leader stated.
"Wonderful. This makes the plan even better," Pythor smirked maliciously.
Things were just starting to get good...
Paige eyed her Spanish-style house nervously. It had just occured to her how rash her actions had been. What had she been thinking, ditching school without any warning at all? I did it for a good cause, the Italian girl thought in an attempt to reassure herself. She slowly approached her front door, opened it cautiously, and silently slipped inside. Paige shut the door behind her as quietly as she could and glanced at the living room clock. It was nearly five o' clock. She let out a sigh of relief, thinking her mother wasn't around. I hope she isn't out looking for me, though, Paige thought. Just as the dark-haired girl was about to enter her bedroom, a familiar voice stopped her.
"Where the hell have you been!?" her mother exclaimed.
"Uh... I was over at Sienna's...?"
As soon as Paige said this she mentally face-palmed. Sienna's been captured, you idiot, she scolded herself.
"That's a lie! I'm not a damn retard, Paige! Now, where were you?" the young girl's mom hissed, putting emphasis on the last three words.
"I... I can't tell you!" the controller of water responded, her voice sounding exasperated and weary.
Her relative gave a frustrated sigh. "You know what, forget it. Now, get your ass in your room and don't come out until I say so!"
"That's not fair-"
"Go to your room!" the older female shouted.
Paige knew it was better not to say "I was going there anyway", yet she still lashed out. "Jeez! You don't have to be such a bitch about it!" she retorted.
"What did you just call me?" her mother questioned in a tone so calm it was frightening.
"I love you, mommy...?" Paige squeaked, hoping those weren't her last words.
"Go to your room, now!"
The pre-teen sighed and finally complied. Suddenly, she remembered the small bag of "portal powder" (what she called her way of getting back to Ninjago) in her pocket. Well, the situation's already bad enough, she thought to herself, so why not make it worse? The orange ninja formed a portal with the bright blue powder, then she entered a mom-free world.
"Paige? What are you doing here? I thought you were going back home," Cole inquired as the Italian girl came up to the deck.
"I did go home... and then I got yelled at. I guess I should've seen it coming, I mean, I did leave school in the middle of the day," Paige replied.
"So why'd you come back here if you got in trouble?" Jay asked.
The young girl shrugged. "I don't know, it seemed like a better idea than staying and getting yelled at some more."
"But won't you get in even more trouble if your mother finds out you left?" the white ninja pointed out.
"Let's not worry about me right now," Paige responded, trying to change the subject. "So, what now?"
"Guys," Nya started a bit apprehensively as she walked out onto the deck. "The Fang Blades... are gone."
Everyone else except Paige (who had no idea what those were) exploded.
"WHAT!?"
The ebony-haired girl gazed downward. "I think the Serpentine stole them when they took Sienna. I have no idea what else could've happened."
There was silence, long, excruciating silence.
"What the hell is a Fang Blade!?" the orange ninja exclaimed confusedly.
"The Fang Blades are the keys to releasing the Great Devourer, which the Serpentine wish to use to wreak great havoc," the ninja of ice explained.
"Oh..." Paige trailed off. "Whatever this 'Great Devourer' thing is, it doesn't sound nice."
"It's not," Kai confirmed glumly.
"We need to stop them! Do we have any idea where the Great Devourer is released from?" the green ninja asked.
Another long pause of silence before realization struck all but the orange ninja like a bolt of Jay's lightning.
"Ouroboros!"
The ninjas, Sensei Wu, and Nya arrived at the Serpentine capital later that evening.
"Are you sure Paige should be coming? She hasn't had much training," Kai inquired.
If looks could kill, the ninja of water would be in prison for murder right now.
"This is not the time for bickering," Zane stated calmly.
"Zane's right, we need to focus," the ninja of earth agreed.
The group of seven made their way slowly through the ancient city with anticipation, waiting for whatever would happen next. Though once they reached the center of Ouroboros where the giant snake statue was, they could never be prepared for the following events.
"My, my, if it isn't the ninjas, their ridiculous Sensei, and the stupid girl. Oh? So the rumors are true. You have yet another new member," the Anacondrai sneered.
"Where's Sienna?" Paige questioned bravely, not caring that the strange snakes scared her.
"Such a sweet thing, friendship," Pythor mused. "Yet so incredibly foolish. Friends come and go, my dear girl, and soon enough your memories of them fade away as well."
"Shut up and tell me where she is!" the chocolate-eyed girl demanded angrily.
The tall purple serpent smirked at her rage. "If you're so eager to see your friend, be my guest."
He stepped (or rather, slid) aside, revealing something that shocked the humans. There stood Sienna, her hazel eyes were now a frightening bright red.
A/N: Hi there my wonderful readers! Sorry I haven't updated, but it's summer now which means great things. Basically... More free time + Not a lot to do = More chances for updating chapters! Okay, so we've learned a few things in this chapter. 1) Paige makes some pretty bad decisions most of the time. 2) Sienna is in more trouble than you thought. and 3) I am really mean because I left you with a cliffhanger. *does a horrible impression of an evil laugh* Anyway, thank you all so much for your continued support, I mean, this is absolutely mind blowing to me. I never thought I'd ever post a story for the world to see, and I also never thought I'd get so much praise for said story. I'd like to make my readers feel like their participation in this story is more than just leaving a simple review, so if you don't mind, I'd love to know what you are doing this summer. (I'm going to camp, just to let ya know) Oh, and you can thank my best friend PrincessOfPages for helping me write the dialogue between Paige and her mother. You should really check her out, she's a great writer and an even better friend.
Have an awesome day/night/summer/whatever! :)
