I stared at him, the words ringing in my head, "how would you feel if you could move your legs again."

"i…i." I stammered, "I would love to walk again but I haven't for almost 6 years Master. The procedure is dangerous, with a ten percent chance of success."

Then I almost smacked myself, I was in Fiore and standing next to Master was Porlyusica, the lady who could do miracles not known in the real world. "I would love to walk again Master, if you could make it happen than please I would do anything." I said clearing my trembling voice.

He smiled at me, "that's all I wanted to hear, Porlyusica." He said turning to the woman.

She looked at me that huffed, "I hate humans." She simply said, "come in just leave the other one outside."

I put my arms around Gold, "but she's my companion, she never leaves my side." I said to her.

"if you want to walk that leave her outside." She said to me than the girl. I nodded grimly. I grabbed my pack and pulled out the old recorder. "Here play this till I return girl." I said to her as she sat down near the house.

She nodded and took it from me putting the mouth piece in her mouth and started to play. I turned my back on her and followed Porlyusica into the house. "Here lay down here." She said motioning to a bed in a corner.

"Is this going to hurt?" I asked her.

She laughed, "No not at all, maybe a few pinches here and there." She said.

I nodded and laid down on the bed, one leg hanging off the bed. I grabbed my leg and lifted it onto the bed as well. Porlyusica moved to my side, "okay I'm going to have to put you to sleep, so just go to sleep." She said to me and my eyelids started feeling heavier and heavier.

"will I be able to walk after it?" I said sleepily. "yes you will." Porlyusica said.

I smiled, "I'm glad, I will have to tell Gran next time I see her. I hope she's having a happy time on the other side." I said in a daze. things around me were starting to get fuzzy. "Thank you Grandine." I said and I was asleep.

Normal POV

Porlyusica looked at the sleeping girl with surprise. "How…" she questioned than shook her head.

"just my imagination." She said that got to work.

For the next two hours she went to work on the girl mixing potions and saying spells. She discovered that the girl's spine was at an odd angle cutting off the nerve to her legs. She held her hand over the area and said a spell. There was a crack and the girl cried out in pain. Then she was silent.

"my work here is done, now I'll see the girl's will power." Porlyusica said standing up and picking up her potions.

She moved away from the girl not noticing the tiny twitch in the girl's foot.

Gold's POV

Before Master went into the strange smelling house she gave me the weird stick with holes. "wait here for me." she had said to me.

I went over to a log and sat down. I put the stick in my mouth and played. Weird sounds came from the stick but it wasn't bothering, it was soothing sort of cooling me down in my heart. After a few sounds creatures began to gather around me.

At first I was scared than I found that they wouldn't hurt me or Master. I put the stick in my mouth again and blew into it again. My human fingers going over small holes etched in it, changing the sound. The sun was starting to set slowly over the trees. A woman smelling like chemicals came out of the tree.

I tensed and stood up the creatures around me scattered. "turn off that horrible music." She said to me.

I growled, my ear twitched, "your friend is sleeping, have her get up and walk when she wakes up." She said.

I perked up at the mention of Master, but one word had me sad. "walk." I repeated slowly.

She nodded angrily, "what cant you understand?" she demanded.

"But Master can't walk, in chair ever since she met Gold." I said to her slowly, sounding out every new word that came out of my mouth.

The words sounded weird, "just wait till she wakes up, can't get rid of you pests anyway." She sighed motioning for me to follow her.

I stayed where I was looking after the woman that went into the tree. A lot of smells were coming from the inside of the tree, but amongst them I smelled Master's scent. For Master's sake I followed cautiously behind the woman. I covered my sensitive nose because of the smell.

I looked around the tree, 'this doesn't seem like the inside of a tree.' I thought looking around before my eyes landed on Master lying pale in a bed. I ran to her side, "Master, Master get up." I whined.

She didn't stir. I looked at the woman; she was doing different things around the tree not paying any attention to us. I sniffed the master; she smelled like different chemicals all clogging up my nose. But I didn't care, she had taken care of me since I was a small pup, and I was going to stay by her side forever.

I climbed onto her bed and curled up at her feet. I was going to stay here until Master woke up and we could go home to our room. I closed my eyes and master's slow rhythmic breathing was lulling me into a peaceful sleep.

Skylar's POV

After Porlyusica put me to sleep I was floating through space and time, even across dimensions. A multitude of colors surrounded me as different dimensions cross over me. I saw one with a short kid with a metal arm, I saw another with a kid with orange hair and a huge sword, I even saw one with a guy with long white hair and dog ears, there was also another of a dude on a pirate ship. But I didn't stop at any of them.

I continued on to the dimension I was born in. on the planet earth in the solar system, in the Milky Way Galaxy. I went into the small town I was born in to my hell of a house where I saw a small family laughing heartily with one another.

This was my house without me. Even if I was there it would have been the same. Don't acknowledge the girl, act like a happy family without her. I stood in front of the door to the house. I tried to put my hand on the doorknob but it went through the door.

I sighed and went in. my birth parents was sitting in the living room watching a movie starring my father since he was an actor. I walked in front of them seeing if they could see me but they stared past me. They were talking about something.

I went behind them to listen closer, "today the school called again." My mother said to my father, "they said she hasn't been to school in a week. The damn girl, she needs to come home soon so we can get a hold of my mother's fortune."

I looked sad, "all you care about is the fortune huh, mother." I said aloud in her ear spooking her.

She jumped and looked around, her eyes passing over me. I moved over to her, "no one can hear me except you." I whispered into her ear again.

Her eyes showed fear than anger. "Girl show yourself." She demanded.

My father looked puzzled, "who are you talking to darling?" he asked her.

"Don't tell anyone I'm here, or I could kill you easily." I said holding a small dagger over her throat.

She sank to the floor, "no one darling just voices in my head." She said defeated.

"I'm going to come back two days from now, with some friends. I'm going to show for a little then disappear from your life forever. How does that sound mother?" I asked her.

"I'm going to stop by the house to collect the rest of my things, don't try to stop me. I hate you, what did I do to you to earn this treatment." I told her as tears streamed down my face.

"What did I do when I was a baby to be an outcast? I'm in a fucking wheelchair for crying out loud." I yelled at her angrily, the TV starting to flicker.

"You may not see me; you always act like I'm not there. I know I'm not perfect like your son. But I'm me. I found people that care about me and after two days from now, I will never see you again. I will start my life anew. A new, fresh start to life. The life you never gave me." I said making the TV shut off completely, "act like this never happened mother."

I left her in the room on the floor, my father comforting her as she stared after my shadow as it disappeared down the hall. I went down the hall till I stood in front of my brother's room. I passed through the door; I had a few things to talk with him about.

"Matty." I called to him as he was playing his game device. He dropped it with surprise and turned to me.

"Sis." He said staring right at me.

Since he was still a kid he could see spirits like me I guess. A few times he had come to me crying even if my parents forbade him to see me. "I'm back, sort of." I said to him.

Tears started falling down his eyes as he ran to me. he threw his arms around me, "oh sis I missed you, you disappeared all of a sudden. Ever since you left creatures have come. Sis I was so scared." Matty said.

I just stood there and held him. Even in ghost form he could touch me, and I could touch him. "Don't worry Matty, here this will ward them off." I said handing him one of my magic daggers.

When I placed it in his hands it turned solid and heavier. "Don't stab people with it Matty." I said to him, "I came to talk to you."

He perked up than he looked sad; "what about mom?" he asked me, "she says I can't see you at all."

I smiled, "she can't see me, much less hear me anymore." I reassured him.

He returned my smile, "okay, you know who I disappeared one day." I asked him.

He nodded as he put the dagger under his pillow. "Well I went to get a better life." I said.

He looked puzzled, "but what about here?" he asked me.

I looked sad, 'I'm going to put this place behind me." I said fiddeling with a new dagger I somehow summoned.

"I wont forget about you Matty. It wasn't you who treated me horribly. It was mother and father." I said patting his head.

"But what about me. I thought you said you would protect me always." He said teary eyed.

"I will if you need me just say my name and I will be there, either in life of in spirit I will always be by your side. That's what a big sister if for." I said to him, "don't worry we can say our final goodbyes the day after tomorrow at Gran's reading and distribution of her will."

"Take me with you." He said latching onto my wrist.

"I don't think mother and father would want you to come with me. Where I'm going, there isn't a chance you could come back." I said worried.

"I don't care," he said, "I don't care about mom and dad. I want to be with you sister. Please take me with you." He pleaded.

"You have to think clearly on this, where I am now you have to know your surroundings or you will get lost. And there is violence." I warned him.

He thought for a second, then nodded his head, "I want to come with you." He said sincerely.

I smiled, "then by the day after tomorrow I want you to have all your stuff you want to take with you ready to go. Don't tell mother, but have all your stuff in a pile ready to go by the time I come home." I told him giving in to his pleading.

He brighted up immediately. He threw his arms around me again, "thank you sis." He said, "I wont let you down."

I smiled, "Sure you wont, goodbye for now Matty." I said to him planting a kiss on his forehead.

Instead of going through the door though I went through the wall. On the other side of the wall was a passage that lead to my room if you went up and outside if you went down. I opened the door to my room and found my room the same as when I left.

I went over to the small bed and saw that it looked like someone had slept on it. there was stains on the pillow that I guessed were tears. I smiled and sat down on the edge of the bed just staring at my walls, full of pictures I drew. I yawned all of a sudden and knew that my body was waking up.

I laid down on my pillow and looked around my trashy room, "see you soon." I said before closing my eyes and drifted back to my body.

I snapped awake to find myself in Porlyusica's house. "How long was I out?" I asked her.

"two hours, your friend here wouldn't leave your side." Porlyusica said with a huff pointing to the end of the bed I was in.

I looked and saw Gold curled up fast asleep on my legs. "So that explains the heavy feel on my legs." I said subconsciously.

'wait, feel on my legs.' I thought for a second.

My eyes widened, and looked at my legs covered by the blanket. "Gold wake up." I whispered to my companion.

Immediately she woke up and was on the ground by my side in an instant. I patted her head, "Good girl, Gold." I said to her.

She smiled and licked my face. I turned back to my legs, like I couldn't believe it. I tore the blanket off of my legs and looked at them. Instead of being shorter than they should and pale, they were my regular skin tone and the natural length they should be.

To make sure they walked I tried to wiggle my toes like I tried so many times. Instead of staying lifeless like usual they moved. I sat up without help and grabbed my feet. I felt everything.

Tears rose in my eyes. 'it's a birthday miracle.' I thought looking at my working legs.

"Thank you." I whispered.

"What did you say girl?" Porlyusica said moving closer.

"Thank you Porlyusica, for getting my legs back. It's the best birthday present I could ever ask for." I said hugging her.

"Now if you let me go than we can start your rehabilitation." She said trying to get out of my hug.

I let her go, eagerness running through my body, "Yes Porlyusica-san." I said getting off of her.

I grabbed my bag off of my wheelchair I wouldn't be needing anymore along with the sword strapped to the side by a cute brown belt I had Mira buy me. I strapped it to my waist and pulled out my notebook. I went to an empty page and ripped it out. I grabbed a pencil and wrote something on it.

I folded it than put it in my hair band I always had on my hair making my hair fall down my back in a big wavy mess. I put it in Gold's hand. "Gold take this to Scar-onii-san, okay." I told her, "at the guild."

She nodded and left the room running towards the guild sniffing the ground as she went. I nodded please at the obedient girl and turned to Porlyusica.

"when do we start?" I asked her eagerly.

She smiled at my eagerness, "we start know." She said.

Kazuma's POV

It had been a few hours since Sky had left the guild in search of Master. Master came back but not Sky. Before I could question him he came up to me and told me that she was alright and there was no need to fret. But I was still worried.

Who knows when a forest Vulcan can strike and Sky was still learning how to harness her magic. I walked around the guild not stopping and when I did I was getting a drink or answering questions for Mira for her birthday party tomorrow.

For the party Mira had decided on a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and purple streamers and balloons hanging from the ceiling and rafters. I sighed as I downed a glass of sparkling cider. I was bored waiting for Skylar. It had been two hours since the Master came back, and I was starting to tire.

I was about to go out to find Sky when her dog came busting into the guild knocking me down. Before I could get up something dropped near my face. I looked at it, it looked like a note.

I picked it up and sat up to read it.

Der Kaz,

I wil b at Porlusica's hous in the forest. Do not lok 4 me. I m all right. C u in the morning. And culd u tel Master abot ur plans 4 2 go back? Thanks!

Sky

I read it and almost laughed. Her handwriting and spelling were horrible but at least I could read it. Tell master about our plan to go back. It had said.

I nodded, "will do." I said than folded the note and put it in my pocket. I stood up and grabbed Gold by the hand. I lead her over to a corner and sat her down. I pulled out the recorder she had had and told her to play for a little bit til I came back.

She nodded and put it in her mouth and started playing. The only ones that had heard her play was all the people on the train, Sky and me, and I guess the forest animals. So everyone in the guild fighting stop almost instantly. They stared at the girl with the dog ears and tail just sitting in a corner playing the instrument

I smiled and went to Mira. "Do you know where Master is? I need to tell him something." I asked Mira.

She pointed to a door, "in there." She said.

I thanked her and went to the door. I knocked on it. "Come in." Master said on the other side.

I opened the door and saw Master sifting through some papers. "What do you need my child?" he asked me with a smile.

"Skylar asked me to tell you something." I began. "Sit down then you can tell me." Master said motioning to a seat.

I sat down and took a deep breath. "me and Sky are going to be going on a small trip in a few days." I said, "we wanted to tell you because we didn't want you to worry. I know the reason sounds crappy but I guess we're scared to face the things that troubled us before."

I looked up to see if Master was listening. He was and had a solemn look on his face. "I mean, I have to face my aunt and uncle that hate me and Skylar has to face her parents that don't give shit about her. Mostly we both had fucked up childhoods but we have to face it head on by ourselves."

Master still remained silent. "since we got here we learned to open up to people not stay away from people. But this time we have to face things on our own. Find closure in that world. I guess you have nothing to say about my sappy speech but I'm glad you listened Master." I said standing up, "I just wanted to say that me and Sky were going to be out for a few days."

I was about to leave when Master spoke up, "I see, but since you joined the guild I saw you smile, I saw you laugh, sometime or another I might see you cry. You show me courage for a boy going through what your going through. I'm pretty sure your parents would be proud of you." Master said.

I smiled, "I don't remember my parents." I said and walked out into the guildhall.

I looked around with surprise the guild was being decorated with purple streamers and balloons. I walked up to Mira, "I thought you would be decorating in the morning while Sky is still sleeping." I told her, "why are you decorating now?"

Mira turned to me, "because i want it ready before tomorrow so I can concentrate on other things like getting her cake and other things." She said with a smile.

I shrugged, "you're the party planner." I said admitting defeat. I never had a birthday party either so I didn't know much about them.

I walked over to Gold, she was passed out in the corner of the guild where I left her. The recorder clasped tightly in her hand. I picked her up in my arms and walked back over to Mira. "and do you have an extra key for Sky's room?" I asked her.

"I think there's one at the desk at the front of the girl's dorm. Just put it back when your done." Mira said noticing Gold asleep on my back.

I nodded and headed in the direction of the girl's dorm. I arrived to see Levy and all the other girls at the dorm carrying bags inside. "uh Levy?" I called to her just as the door started to close.

She turned to me, "need something?" she asked.

I smiled nervously, "can you hold the door open for me?" I asked her motioning to the dog girl on my back, "I have a heavy load."

She held open the door for me and I thanked her. I went over to the desk and looked around. I remember Sky telling me her room number and I saw a spare key with the number on it. I shifted the weight on my back and grabbed it quickly. 'this girl weighs more than Sky.' I thought as I walked to Sky's room.

I stop in front of the door and set Gold down on the ground near the door careful not to wake her up. I put the key in the door and heard a click. I opened the door and picked Gold up bridal style.

I carried her over to the bed and laid her down, pulling the blanket over her body leaving her head exposed. I dusted off my hands and stretched my aching muscles. Who know caring for a dog was so tiring.

Gold shifted in her sleep muttering something about bones and pipes. I shrugged and yawned. Boy was I tired. I looked at the sleeping girl one more time than left the room, locking the door behind me.
