A/N: Okay so I already wrote chapter 11 but the problem is that I did not like the outcome so here I am starting the chapter over. I hope this time I like the outcome so you guys have something to read. :)

Peyton stood on the porch and watched the people walking by. She had been thinking about drawing but something felt off today. She took a deep breath and glanced behind her when she heard small footsteps heading her direction. "Good morning sleepy head." Peyton exclaimed at her daughter.

Madi smiled brightly up at her mother. "Good morning mommy!" Madison held her hand out to her mother and grasped her hand.

Peyton smiled at the small hand holding hers. "I love you so much."

"I love you too mommy." Madison giggled. "When is daddy coming to get me?"

Peyton shook her head. "I don't know. I'll give him a call."

-With Lucas-

"What do you mean you need to see me?" Lucas said over the phone.

"I haven't been feeling well and I would really appreciate it if you came and supported me." Lindsey declared.

Lucas couldn't believe what he was hearing. He couldn't tell if she meant to hint at what he thinks she is saying or if she is just wanting him to be there for some other reason. He groaned because he knew he had to go be there with her. He was the one who married her and that meant that it was his job to support her. "FIne. I'll find a flight and leave today." Lucas snapped his phone shut and met his mother's gaze.

"What was all that about?" Karen questioned. Now shifting her gaze to Andy who was sitting on the couch with Lily.

"Lindsey said she needs me to come to New York for something. I don't want to go but I have to." Lucas stated blankly. "I have to go book a flight." Lucas groaned and turned to go to his room where his laptop was.

Karen and Andy exchanged a few more glances before Karen decided it was time to continue the baking she was previously doing.

Lucas booked his flight and was packing a bag when his phone alerted him of a text message. It was Peyton. His heart sank, he just now remembered that he was supposed to pick up Madison today for a father daughter day.

P: Hey Luke, Madi was just wondering what time you were picking her up today?

L: I'm sorry P but I can't make it tonight.

Lucas contemplated telling her he was going to New York but he thought it would just upset her so he decided not to tell her a reason at all.

P: Alright that's fine. I'll just let Madi know you had to reschedule.

L: Okay sounds good. I'll make it up to her I promise.

Lucas waited for a reply but did not receive one. His flight left in an hour so he had to get the rest of his things packed.

-Peyton's House-

Peyton sighed. She knew how much Madi was looking forward to today but there was nothing she could do about it. She picked up her phone and dialed Haley's number.

Haley quickly placed the hot pan from her hands onto the counter and pulled out her phone. "Hello?" She said, having not even looked at the caller ID.

"Hey Hales, it's Peyton." Peyton said knowing that Haley probably didn't check to see who was calling.

"Of course. I know that silly. What's up?" Haley chuckled.

"I was wondering if Jamie might want to have a sleepover tonight with Madi." Peyton said as smiled at Madi who was walking into the room.

"I thought Lucas was taking Madi tonight." Haley said. Lucas had been talking about this day for what seemed like ages.

Peyton sighed. "I thought so to but I guess something came up and he had to back out. I just want to find a distraction for Madi so that she doesn't think her dad didn't want to spend time with her. You know?" Madi placed her baby doll onto the counter in front of her mother.

"Mommy, I can't get her dressed. It's not working." Madi said softly knowing that her mother was on the phone and that she would get scolded if she interrupted.

Peyton smiled gingerly. She picked up the doll and quickly swapped it's clothes. "Here you go sweetie." Peyton handed the doll back to Madi who ran off to play again. Peyton was then reminded that she was on the phone by the sound of Haley talking again.

"Well what exactly is so important that he had to blow off my favorite niece?" Haley demanded.

Peyton let out a laugh. "She's your only niece Haley."

"Oh right. Oh well she is still my favorite. Lucas didn't even call and tell me anything and I'm supposed to be his best friend." Haley sighed.

"You are my best friend, HJS." Peyton giggled.

"Don't lie. That's Brooke. But that's okay I'm supposed to have Luke." Haley stated then laughed. "Well she can absolutely come over tonight for a sleepover. Jamie loves getting to spend time with Madi."

As if his ears were burning Jamie wandered into the kitchen. "Madi is coming over tonight?" Jamie questioned only hearing the end of the conversation. Sure he was a little bit older than her but he still enjoyed getting to play with her.

Haley nodded and continue her conversation with Peyton for a little while. Peyton had needed to go help Madi with something so they said their goodbyes.

"Yes she is." Haley said with a smile on her face. All while she was questioning why Luke hadn't said anything to her about why he wasn't going to be able to keep his promise to Madi.

Jamie jumped for joy. "I like hanging out with Madi, she's my little buddy." Jamie grinned.

"You know you are little too right?" Haley asked placing her hands on her hips.

"Not little like Madi. Madi is 3 mom. I am like 8 now." Jamie laughed and smiled at his mother. "Compared to me and Lily, Madi is still a baby momma."

Haley couldn't help but laugh. "Well you'll always be a baby to me."

-Peyton's House-

Peyton placed the phone back down on the counter and proceeded to go see what Madi needed. "What do you need help with?" Peyton asked the toddler who was standing on her toy box that was supposed to be in the corner of the living room. Madi had drug it over to the bookcase and was trying to reach the album on the top shelf.

Madi reached and stretched trying to reach the album but she was just too little. "Momma, I need help."

"Madi, you are too little to be climbing on things like that." Peyton said as she lifted her child off the toy box and grabbed the album.

Madi stomped her foot. "But momma I'm a big girl."

Peyton smiled. "I know you are and you are way smart for your age but I need you to remember that it's not safe to climb on things. You could get hurt and that would just break my heart."

Madi nodded. "Momma?" Madi asked plopping onto the couch that was next to her.

Peyton looked over at Madi and joined her on the couch. "Yeah?"

Madi thought for a moment and then looked up at her mother. "How come you say I'm so smart but you don't let me do big kid stuff?"

Peyton couldn't help but let out a laugh. She didn't know what had gotten into her child but she was way smarter than the average 3 year old. Peyton had her observed for her to get into preschool and when they tested her she was talking and acting like a 5-6 year old. Peyton had barely come to terms with having a 3 year old but having one as smart as a kindergartener was more than overwhelming. She most likely got it from her father… and maybe Jamie. That kid was far advanced for his age too. Then again so was Lily. Those Scott children though. Peyton laughed at her own thoughts.

Madi watched her mother, who was processing her own thoughts. "Momma?"

Peyton shook her thoughts and smiled again. "Because even though you are super smart, you are still small. I don't want anything to happen to you."

Madi understood and nodded. Even if she didn't agree. "When's daddy coming to get me?"

There it was. The question Peyton had been hoping she wouldn't ask. Peyton cleared her throat. "Daddy had to go do some business so he can't make it today." Madi's face fell. "But- Jamie wants you to come over for a sleepover." Peyton quickly added.

Although Madi was sad that her dad wouldn't be coming to get her, she really liked getting to stay at Jamie's house. Jamie has all of the cool toys because he is older. "Okay momma. Do you think aunt Haley will let me call daddy later?"

"I'm sure she will. I'll make sure to ask her for you when I take you over there okay?" Peyton smiled. "Why don't we go pack your bag?" Madi nodded and the two headed up to Madi's room to pack a bag for Haley's house.

-Haley's House-

H: Lucas Eugene Scott, where are you?

Lucas groaned when he picked up the phone and saw Haley's name pop up. He knew in the moment that he was in a lot of trouble with the feisty brunette.

L: I had to go to New York.

H: And why is that?

L: Lindsey had something come up and she needed me here.

H: SO you mean to tell me that blowing off your daughter is better than blowing off Lindsey?

L: Haley, she's my wife.

H: I know that but no one here seems to understand why. Especially Madi who was looking forward to seeing her dad.

L: I'm sorry.

Haley didn't know what to say anymore. She placed her phone down on the counter and stared at it for a few moments. Nathan entered the room to see his wife staring at her phone. "Haven't heard from Luke?" Nathan questioned walking over to his wife and wrapping his arms around her waist.

"No, I heard from him. I just didn't like what he had to say?" Haley placed her hands over her husband's and laid her head back on his chest.

"What'd he say?" Nathan hadn't gotten a chance to speak to his brother in awhile. Basketball had been taking a lot more time than he was used to.

Haley sighed. "He said he was in New York. Lindsey needed him for something."

Just then Haley and Nathan heard their front door open. "Hello?" Peyton hollered.

"In here." Nathan returned.

Peyton and Madi entered the room. Peyton holding a bag of clothes and Madi carrying an ice cream cone.

Haley smiled. "Where is my ice cream?" Haley asked eyeing Madi.

Madi grinned. "I forgot to get you one aunt Haley."

"That's okay sweetie. Why don't you go play with Jamie? I think he is outside with uncle Skills." Madi nodded and ran toward the back door to join the fun.

"Hey hot mama." Peyton smiled and hugged Haley. "And Nate." She hugged Nathan next.

"Hey P." Nathan grinned. "It's good to see you."

"No kidding. You're a basketball star now. Always so busy huh?" Peyton grinned and patted Nate's back.

"You know it. But I should probably go make sure Jamie and Madison haven't tied Skills up." Nathan chuckled and headed towards the back door. He turned around at the last minute. "Looking good by the way Sawyer." Nathan then smiled at his wife. "You too babe." And with that Nathan left the room.

Haley and Peyton looked at each other and then busted out in laughter. Peyton was the first to speak again. "He is in a good mood today I take it?"

Haley laughed once more. "Yes he is."

"Have you heard from him?" Peyton asked innocently.

"I knew that one was coming." Haley frowned. "Unfortunately, I have."

Peyton picked up on that first word. Unfortunately. "Why unfortunately? Where is he Haley?"

Haley took a deep breath and cleared her throat. "He's in New York."

Peyton felt her heart sink. She cleared her throat. She wasn't going to let anyone, even Haley, know that she was hurting. Lucas and Peyton hadn't spoken of the night they spent together and no one knew about it either. Not even Brooke. "Oh. I see." Peyton said blankly.

Haley knew. She knew that Peyton was hurting. She knew something had happened because neither of her friends had been acting right. Something happened and she so badly wanted to know what it was. But she also knew that it was best to let them figure it out on their own. "He said Lindsey had called needing him there for something so he went."

-Lucas and Lindsey-

"I can't believe we are sitting here, in complete silence Lucas." Lindsey stated placing her hands on her lap as they waited.

"And I can't believe you made me come all the way here for this when you aren't even sure." Lucas growled. He knew that Madi was going to be very mad at him for missing this day.

Lindsey watched Lucas as he was caught up in his own thoughts. "Well I thought you would want to be here for this. You missed 3 years of Madison's life and I refuse to do that to you, like Peyton did." Lindsey knew she shouldn't have said it but it was too late.

Lucas glared at Lindsey. "Do not talk about Peyton like that. She was only doing what she had to do to protect Madi."

"From who? Her father? That makes a lot of sense." Lindsey stated, now crossing her arms over her chest.

"Drop it. Now. Or I will leave." Lucas stated and then sat in silence. He was immersed back in his thoughts. He already had one child. He didn't want another one. He was still trying to figure out how to do it.

A few minute later the doctor came back into the room. "Okay well I have your results."

This pulled Lucas immediately out of his own thoughts. "And?"

"And I'm sorry but you are not pregnant." The doctor said. "I am going to give you two a moment. Feel free to exit at any time. I know sometimes it's hard to get pregnant." The doctor then left the room leaving Lucas and Lindsey.

Lucas could not have been happier that she was not pregnant. Lindsey on the other hand had known she wasn't pregnant, she just needed a reason to get Lucas to New York so that they could talk away from all the prying ears in Tree Hill.

Lucas stood from his seat. "Is that all then?" Lucas was ready to get on a plane and go home and see his daughter.

"No. It's not. I'm upset and I would like it if you stayed the night." Lindsey said in a soft voice hoping to soften Lucas' emotions.

"I am going back home Lindsey." Lucas stated and handed her her coat and purse that had been on his lap.

"You are home."

"No I'm not. Lindsey, Tree Hill is my home." Lucas had never called New York home. Tree Hill was his home and where his heart had always been.

"Home is where we are together." Lindsey placed her hand on his arm.

"Not anymore it isn't." Lucas said that hoping she would believe that it was true. Home had always been Tree Hill even after he got married. Home was where his daughter was. Home was where Peyton was, no matter how much he hadn't wanted to admit it. "I want a divorce." And with that Lucas left the room they were in and Lindsey rushed after him.

A/N: Okay so I tried to make this a longer one for you considering it's been awhile because I rewrote this entire chapter. I want to believe that you might be able to see where this is going but if you can then I'm not doing my job. Please review. I love hearing from all of you. Also does anyone have another prompt or story they would like written because I have been looking for new stories to read and it doesn't seem like many people really write OTH fanfiction anymore, or at least Leyton and they are seriously one of my faves. So please let me know. :)
