Tina closed her eyes, listening to everything going on around her in the choir room. All of her friends were there, all talking about their summer plans. Everyone was so happy and in high spirits that no one noticed her sinking. How could they? They were so used to the girl wearing black and being gothic in almost all aspects of her life. They didn't notice that she had gone back to wearing black, even though she hated the color so much, it fit her mood perfectly. Silently she stood up and crossed the room to the piano, ignoring all the looks she was receiving. She wanted to shout at all the love in the room, at all her friends, all the couples. She cast a look out into the silent room. Her first boyfriend, artie, was currently dating sugar. Sugar was a nice girl, once you got to know her.
Artie really seemed happy to be with her. Finn had Rachel, no surprise there. Ever since they first sang together everyone knew they had sparks between them. Mercedes and sam were dating, even though they pretended they weren't for most of the year. Santana and Brittany were official. Puck and quinn were together, finally. Even kurt finally had someone to share his heart with, the Irish boy rory.
He was a much better boy for kurt, specially after blaine borke his heart but dumping him to go after david, though she did find it funny when david punched blaine in the face for hurting kurt, or "fancy" as he called him. She was truly happy for the last three pairs, if anyone deserved to be loved it was kurt, puck and brittana. The only ones who were no longer a couple were herself and her lost love, mike. Closing her eyes her hands found the keys and she started to play.
"Gotta change my answering machine
Now that I'm alone
Cause right now it says that we
Can't come to the phone
And I know it makes no sense
Cause you walked out the door
But it's the only way I hear your voice anymore"
Ok so that part was a lie. Mike had tried to stay on good terms since they broke up, he still tried to be friends. She felt her stomach coil with anger. She didn't want to be friends, she had given him her heart and he crushed it. Sure she could talk to him in glee or in class, but it was strained and hurt to much, so much that she avoided him at all costs and if they did get stuck talking together she would quickly find a reason to leave. Usually using puck and kurt as her escape. That was something else that surprised her this year, puck and kurt had become best friends, much to Mercedes dislike but she had no room to complain she did avoid kurt all year in favor of sam. They were still friends just not as close.
"It's been months
and for some reason I just
(cant get over us)
And im stronger than this
(enough is enough)
No more walking round
With my head down
Im so over being blue
Crying over you
And im so sick of love songs
So tired of tears
So done with wishing you were still here
Said im so sick of love songs so sad and slow
So why cant I turn off the radio
Its been four months since they broke up and it seemed every time a song came on, or someone sang, the song always reminded her of mike, and what they had. She felt the anger rise once again, she was tired of feeling sad for herself. She was a strong proud women and it was time she found that women once again.
"and im so sick of love songs
So tired of tears
So done with wishin you were still here
Said im so sick of love songs so sad and slow
Why can I turn off the radio
(why cant I turn off the radio)
Why cant I turn off the radio"
When she finished the song, she finally noticed the two sets of hands on her shoulders. Looking up she saw both kurt and puck sitting with her, both wearing smiles on their faces. "Hey bubbles" kurt said with a light chuckle, he had nicknamed her that after her gaga costume "what's with the long face queen of the dam?" puck asked with his lad killing smirk. Tina laughed, that smirk never worked on her and puck knew it always made her want to laugh. He had given her that nickname after her annual Friday movie nights the three of them shared. Hey she always made a point to spend time with her family and kurt was her cousin, though no one besides the three of them knew.
Looking up at her two closest friends she smiled "nothing. Nothing is wrong. Now" she spoke with honesty. "I am just finally able to let stuff go, that's all" with a quick look she caught us with the one person this song was meant for, the one who caused so much pain for her. She gave him a small smile, as a sign that everything would be fine now, and it was the truth. She realized she had everything she needed to be happy. Friends, family and songs.
