(sorry for it being short. I uploaded 2 themes at once, if that makes up for it.)
Hope I don't disappoint. :)
Two weeks ago, Smash Mansion had closed for renovation.
One week ago, I was wondering around Hyrule's Castle in boredom.
Today, I awoke to a still unfamiliar room in the distant land of Crimea.
After I couldn't stand the dull grey castle walls, Ike saved me from insanity. He dropped by and offered I come with him until Smash Mansion was back in business. Obviously not thinking it through, I said yes. Anything to get away from the never ending hallways. Ike lived in a cozy house that wasn't too big or small. I sat up, stretching. Ike had insisted that I sleep in his room while he takes the guest room. I don't think he understands why it's called a guest bedroom. His room was surprisingly neat. Everything was organized and clean. I got up and looked around like I had done countless times before. On his dresser, there were many framed pictures. A family picture when he was younger. A picture when he was in the Greil Mercenaries. A big picture with all the Smashers. I smiled, remembering when this photo was taken. Master Hand had to forcefully get me to take the picture. What I wanted to do was kick his gloved, nonexistent ass for-
Metal rang from outside, stopping my thoughts. I left the pictures and peeked out the open window, the spring breeze ruffling my hair. There was nothing to cause the source. The metal rang again, only this time, it was further away. I left Ike's room and knocked on the guest bedroom.
"Ike?" When he didn't answer, I opened the door, figuring he was asleep. The bed was empty. I flinched at how close by the metal sounded. There was yelling coming from the window before I heard the metal ring twice. With my heart clutched in fear, I cautiously approached the window. I froze in horror, locating the source of the metal.
There, near the mailbox, were three large men, huddled in a circle. In the center, lay Ike, bloody and bruised. One carried a metal pole. As the pole was raised above his head, all I could do was watch as he brought it down on Ike's back. I felt my back begin to throb. My ears twitched as goose bumps spread across my body.
And yet, I could not move.
Each time they struck Ike, my body would feel the pain. A man raised his fist and punched Ike in the face. My cheek began to throb and I felt myself awaken from shock. Without bothering to take the stairs, I jumped out the window. Landing gracefully, I sprinted towards Ike, a thirst for revenge fueling my adrenaline. One of the three saw me and nudged the others. The metal pipe was dropped as they fled, ringing like a bell as it bounced off the ground. I didn't bother to pursue. Ike was more important.
"Ike!" I kneeled down next to him, taking his upper body and resting it in my lap. His face had blood dripping down it. Bruises surrounded his closed eyes and mud was clinging to his clothing. "Oh, Ike. Why did this happen to you?" I whispered, gently brushing his hair back.
I sat patiently, my legs shaking out of fear and frustration. None of the doctors would tell me anything and seemed to ignore my presence. Police had come and asked what happened. I explained to them as best I could what I saw. One of them questioned I had done nothing to help as soon as I saw what was occurring, but I didn't have an answer for him. Why couldn't I act? Why couldn't I do anything but stare? I've been pondering those questions ever since the policemen asked. I couldn't find an answer. I wasn't afraid of those men. I could've killed them if I had my proper equipment.
"Excuse me, miss?" A soft voice brought me back to reality. I turned to look at the source of the voice, hoping my appearance wouldn't frighten her. It was just one of the hospital nurses. "Your husband would like to see you."
Husband? Instead of correcting her, I nodded and went into Ike's room. He was lying on the hospital bed, all the blood cleaned off his face. Ike's left hand was in a cast and there was wrapping around his head. The doctor in that was with Ike was leaving but he briefly spoke to me.
"Ike's going to be alright. He only has a broken rib, a fractured left hand, and some bruises. He'll make a full recovery in a few weeks."
I nodded in thanks before he left. Sitting next to Ike, I took his none broken hand in mine. It was rough from constant training and battle.
Ike's eyes opened. "They really did a number on me, didn't they?" he murmured, a sad smile playing on his face as he looked at his cast.
"Ike, how did this happen to you?" I asked.
Ike tried to sit up but he involuntary gasped in pain. I gently pushed him back. He sighed before beginning. "I didn't want them to hurt you, Sheik."
"What? What do you mean?" I cut him off.
He gently squeezed my hand and I let him continue. "I woke up and saw that you were still asleep. I wanted to give you a break of constantly making me food so I went to make breakfast. Before I started, I thought I should get the mail, so I did. That's when they approached me and asked about you," Ike explained. "I asked them what they wanted from you but they avoided the question. One of them tried to get past me but I stopped him. He punched me in the jaw and I hit him back. I let them beat me up in hopes that they forget you or be too weak to fight you."
Tears were in my eyes as he finished. "Oh, Ike. You shouldn't have done that. I would've had them beat me then you."
"I would never forgive myself if they ruined your perfect face." Ike removed his hand from mine and gently placed it on my cheek. I placed my hand on top of his as a lone tear escaped. Ike smiled before inviting me into his embrace. I leaned into him, hoping not to hurt him as I lay next to him. I don't think I could forgive myself for not helping him sooner.
Ike's chest shook and I looked up, afraid that I was hurting him. He wasn't in pain. He was laughing. "You should've saw the looks on their faces when you came running towards us. Man, I can't believe you jumped out the window. Damn."
"There's something things in life you just do," I murmured, leaning my head against his chest again. Ikes free hand ran through my golden locks.
"Do you think we'll be twins now?"
I was startled by his question. "What?"
"Do you think we'll look like twins?" he asked.
I looked up at him, giving him a confused look. He pointed to his wrapped head with a smirk on his face. I playfully smacked his hand away as a smile spread across his face. Ike was chuckling and he seemed to be in pain from suppressing his laughter. I sighed as I leaned against his vibrating chest.
