My C.O.P.S Boyfriend
Chapter 10
~Mine~
The next day at school, Edward was again not there. But this time, he texted Bella to let her know that he was getting his divers license and he'll be back by lunch. But as she sat at their table, there was no sight of him. The school day seemed so boring without Edward there to entertain her. She sort of missed the way he would stare at her, or even playfully brush against her as an excuse to touch.
Bella signed and flipped through the messages he sent last night.
"You're so beautiful."
"You're my everything."
"I am so happy you're in my life."
"Good Night, my Isabella."
The words he sent her made her heart flutter with the butterflies that invaded her stomach. After the story he told her last night, Bella felt a whole new connection with him; she also kind of understood why he would be upset with Jasper. But it didn't quite explain the angry mood changes. She could only guess the traumatic experience must have messed with his head, and caused psychotic problems, making him paranoid of people.
She was lost in thought when a shadow was casted over her.
Her brown eyes looked up to find Michael Newton, a baby face blond boy who was on JV football team. She had seen him a few times before, and she knew his parents own the local sports & gear store. She also remembered he was currently Jessica's new infatuation. "Hey Bells!" his just-hit-puberty voice sounded above her. He grins down at her with a big cheesy smile.
"Hi," she said in a small voice, closing out of her phone.
"May I sit?" He asked, but before she could respond, he took a seat in front of her anyway. "So Bella, how are you?"
Bella lifted an eyebrow, "I'm...good?" It was more of a question, in a "what the hell do you want?" kind of tone.
He chuckled nervously, "Hey so I was wondering, are you going with anyone to homecoming?"
Isabella was shocked, she never expected that. Maybe it was because she already expected to go with Edward, even though he hasn't asked yet. But she didn't want to tell him, and assume wrong. She didn't even know if Edward liked dances. She racked her brain for an excuse. "I uh..." But before she could answer, a dark voice answered for her.
"She's going with me Newton, and if you know what's good for you, you'll walk away," Edward growled in a deadly tone. There he was, in all his glory. His flaming hair set ablaze on the top of his head, while his burning emerald eyes scorched a hole in Mike's forehead.
Bella jumped at his sudden appearance but felt relieved that he had came just in time before she had to make up a silly excuse.
Newton didn't take it so lightly though. He stood up and got in Edward's face, they were about the same height. Bella knew he was trying to impress her by standing up to Edward; not many people do. "Why don't you let her answer for herself Cullen," he snapped loud enough for everyone to hear, clenching his fist.
The whole room was silent now; everyone's eyes were on them.
Bella stood up quickly, making her way around the table to stand in between them. "Hey come on now, no fighting!" She tried pushing Edward away from Mike, but he wouldn't budge. Like a stone brick wall, Edward stood his ground.
"She doesn't need to talk to a little twit like you," he snarled back, stepping closer. He cautiously pushed Bella gently behind him, not wanting her to be in the middle.
Mike grimaced, "And she doesn't deserve to be with such a jerk! I'd take care of her far better than you ever could." He then smirked, leaning close to spit in Edward's face. "I'd fuck her so hard I'd be the only man on her mind," he sneered cockily.
Before anyone knew what would happen next, Edward brought his fist back and shot it forward, coming into contact with Mike's nose. There was a large crack and wail of pain. Mike held his nose as it began to bleed.
"You son of a bitch!" Mike hollered; bringing his fist forward to punch back. But he was too slow as Edward caught it and twisted his arm in such an awkward way till he heard the satisfying 'pop' as he dislocated Mike's shoulder.
He held him there, his eyes fierce and his voice vicious. "Listen up, and listen well! If anyone and I means anyone, ever come near my girl again, I WILL destroy you! Isabella Swan is MINE!" He announced to the whole cafeteria.
Everyone stayed silent, watching with wide, scared eyes.
Edward let Mike go, shoving him away. The pathetic boy cried and held his arm, running away with his tail between his legs. Edward then proceeded to grab Bella's hand, pulling her with him.
She didn't say anything, but followed behind as he took her out of the lunch room and soon out of the school.
Teachers had surfaced but were stunned to see the whole incident unfold in front of them. Edward snarled at them, making them move out of the way quickly. He dragged her through the parking lot and to a brand new shinny silver Volvo.
"Looks like you passed your driving test," she said with a nervous laugh. Although she knew she'd probably get into loads of trouble for skipping school, the look on Edward's face reminded her that it wasn't so important.
Edward snorted but didn't say anything back. He unlocked the doors and opened the passenger side for her.
"Get in," he ordered.
Bella obeyed, sliding in easily.
Edward moved to the driver's side, jumping in and starting the car. He pulled out of the parking spot and took off out of the lot, his tires screeching as he accelerates quickly.
"Where are we going?" Bella asked cautiously, her hands gripping her seatbelt as she tries to calm her nerves. They were driving pretty fast.
"We're going to a special place," he told her, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Is this special place going to run away? You're driving really fast Edward," she warned fearfully.
Edward took his foot off the gas, "Sorry Bella."
Bella nodded, "No it's okay."
Edward flicked his eyes towards her, "No I mean I'm sorry about the whole cafeteria thing. It's just when he asked you...and then he said what he'd do to you and I just lost it."
Bella was quiet for a moment, trying to find the right words to speak to him. "I know Edward, but you'll get in trouble. You can't react like that. The school is probably going to call our parents. Going to call Charlie! You could go to alternative school if Mike presses charges," she warned her eyes wide with worry. "Hell, Charlie might even think you kidnapped me!"
Edward huffed in frustration, "It's not that simple Bella! I couldn't have just let him get away with that. And Carlisle would never allow his only son to be admitted into an alternative school. He'd pay though the nose to keep the Newton's quiet. And as for Charlie, I've known him since middle school, he adores me. And he'll understand when I tell him what the baby face ass wipe said about you." He suddenly turned onto a dirt road.
Bella took in his words and sighed. Perhaps he was right, but she still felt bad.
The car came to a stop; they were in the middle of the woods on an abandoned road. The tall trees gave cover from the non-existent sun, making the forest seem darker. Edward turned off the car and looked at the beautiful girl next to him. She had a frighten look forming on her face, but she tried to mask it quickly. "Where are we?" she questions him, peering through the window.
Edward exited the car and made his way to the passenger side. After he opened her door, he reached out for her hand, offering her a smile. "Do you trust me?"
Bella stared at the hand for a minute. "In theory?" she stammered.
Edward chuckled, reaching out to grab her hand anyway, pulling her out of the car and into his arms. "Then you'll just have to take risks," he said, leaning down to kiss her on the cheek.
He led her to an empty patch of land. It was covered in soft silky grass and moss, with flowers blooming here and there. It was absolutely beautiful the way the sun would peak though the clouds and tree tops and light up the dew that soaked the ground. Bella found her mouth dropping in awe, gazing around the clearing. "What is this place?" She asked in amazement.
Edward made his way to the center, plopping down on the grass as if it were a soft bed. "This, my love, is what I like to call, the meadow. I use to come here all the time when I would feel upset; it calms me and I feel completely at peace here," he explains, laying down and staring up at the sky.
Bella joined him, sitting down next to Edward. She watched as he took a refreshing breath, closing his eyes as he inhales the scents of the nature that surrounds them. Bella couldn't help but smile; he really does look at peace here. "It's absolutely amazing," she admired.
A single breeze swept through the forest; the chilly autumn air of Forks always bite at Bella who was use to the radiant heat waves of Arizona. She shivered involuntary, the thin jacket of hers doing her nothing.
Edward noticed, and frowned. He opened his arms invitingly, "Come here."
Bella obliged, laying down into his arms and setting comfortably into welcoming heat he provided. She gave a sigh of content, and they both closed their eyes.
They were lost in each other's world as they lay together as one.
They listen to each other's breathing.
Their heartbeats seemed to beat in the same rhythm; like a drum in a marching band, they set the pace and tempo of the whole show.
They were at peace.
Together.
Edward suddenly snapped his eyes open, and he moved so he was laying beside her. He stared deep into her eyes, his hand finding the side of her face as he caressed her lovingly. "Be with me," he stated simply; but the three words held so much emotion, so much passion.
Bella cocked her head to the side. "What do you mean?"
"I mean be my girlfriend," he rephrased, his thumb smoothing out the flushed skin of her cheek.
Bella coughed a laugh, "Are you telling me or asking me?"
"Mmm, both," he replied, his hand leaving her face, but only finding their way up her jeaned leg.
Thinking for a moment, Bella leaned forward and placed her lips gently against his. "Yes," she whispered sweetly against his parted mouth.
Bella found herself suddenly on her back, Edward hovering on top of her and smashing his lips passionately in unison with hers. He pulled her close, his lips leaving hers only to find her neck. She moaned, her fingers automatically combing though his wild bronze hair. He bite her ear lobe before whispering, "You're mine," seductively in her ear. "You'll always be mine, say it right now," he demanded her hungrily, kissing her neck once more.
"I'm yours," she murmured, putting as much emotion into those two little words as she can.
And by that, Isabella Swan committed to a relationship with Edward Cullen, sealing her fate as Edward's treasure.
