Chapter 11: Hollowfication

She could hear a voice, whispering about promises of blood and death. Somehow it sounded so distant yet so close. She wanted to yell out, ask what it wants, but her voice would just not work. Seconds passed and the voice kept getting louder and louder, suffocating her. The way it sounded was so dark and sinister, it almost felt like it was trying to take her over. But as soon as that voice came, it was gone. She felt like letting out a sigh of relief, but stopped herself when she felt someone touching her shoulder.

"Hello, my queen."

A gasp escaped her lips, turning to face the intruder. But instead of seeing someone, she found herself looking at the white ceiling.

She furrowed her brows, a frown marring her face. Where was she? She sat up only to realize that she was back in her room. When and how did she get there? All she could remember was speaking with Aizen and next it all became dark. What exactly happened?

"I see that you're finally awake."

Her head immediately turned towards the source of the voice. "Gin…What happened?" Kagome questioned, but her eyes suddenly widened when she saw the state he was in. "What happened to you?"

He was a mess. His whole face was littered with scratches, which were quite visible from afar, his arm seemed to have been injured in some way since it was now being supported by a sling, and every step he took towards her she could see a small limp being produced. Yet she received no reply in return.

All Gin did was walk towards her, with a big grin on his face, and sat on the edge of the bed. Kagome wanted to grit her teeth in frustration, was it really so hard to give her a simple answer.

"Gin, what happened?" This time she asked more forcibly. It was quiet for a moment, but then he spoke up, grin fading away. "Ya transformed…"

It was but a mere whisper but she managed to hear it. "Transformed…?"

Gin nodded, a distant look forming in his eyes. "I was walking around the halls when I suddenly heard you scream…"

He ran as fast as he could, the instant he heard a scream he knew exactly who it belonged to. He was slightly surprised to find that it came from the Throne room, but didn't stop none the less. Without thinking, he barged into to the room and came upon a sight he never expected.

There lying on the floor was no other than Kagome, withering in pain.

"Kagome!" He was about to run towards her but was instantly stopped by Aizen, who was just sitting there watching the ordeal in fascination.

"Gin…I suggest you stay back…unless you want to get killed."

Gin wanted to ignore Aizen's orders, but decided against it. Instead, he decided to watch whatever was happening. He knew did deep down that something very bad was going to happen.

He was broke out of his thoughts when he heard another scream rip out of Kagome, but this time instead of just seeing her just lay there, he saw something very surprising.

"Hollowfication…"

A white substance was pouring from her lips, eyes, ears, everywhere, covering her whole face. But instead of being able to see the aftermath, there was a sudden burst of power, wind blowing around, making Gin cover himself with his sleeves.

The moment the wind stopped, Gin hesitantly brought down his arms in order to see what happened. But all that he saw was Kagome's hunched form kneeling on the floor. Her hair blocked his view of her face, but from what Aizen what seeing and smirking at only meant trouble.

Cautiously, he approached the still form of his comrade, but immediately stopped in his tracks when he saw her shaking. At first it was quiet, but then he heard a giggle escape her lips. In that moment, he saw as she threw her head and let out a full blown cackle, one filled with glee and malice. But that was not what surprised him, no, the surprising thing was what now rested on her face.

A hollow mask, a mask that had a vertical black line running through the left part of it and a huge grin with its sharp teeth showing. It was simple, like any other mask, except what was unique about it was a small pink jewel shard resting on the middle of her forehead.

But right now was no time to question things, right now he needed to be cautious.

As her laughter began to die down, Gin took a small step towards her. Little by little he will get to her.

"I must thank you Lord Aizen." 'Kagome' suddenly spoke up, her voice sounding more hallow. "You have finally set me free from this girl's pesky confinements." Even though he couldn't see it, Gin could practically here the grin in her voice.

Aizen shifted slightly, putting his hand on one of his arms making himself comfortable. "What is your name?"

'Kagome' merely chuckled. "I have no name, I'm merely the darkness of what this girl once held."

"I see…"Was all that Aizen said in response.

"Lord Aizen, if you don't mind me asking, may I test this new power of mine now?" 'Kagome' cracked her knuckles, showing that she was really itching for a fight.

All Aizen did was nod and wave her off, yet staying to watch the show.

Gin stiffly stood there, watching the exchange between them. But Kagome's last words made him tense up, knowing that it was not going to end well. He expected Aizen to call in one of the Arrancars, but he did not expect for those cold amber black filled eyes to be staring at him.

The next thing he knew, he was painfully sent flying into the nearest wall. He could hear her laughter ringing throughout the room.

"Let's play."

Those were the words that he knew only meant pain.

And he was right, for the next couple of minutes he was thrown around like a cheap rag doll, yet not once did he try to lift a finger on her. Long ago he swore to protect her and he won't break it now, even if this wasn't really her.

He grunted in pain, being thrown to the ground for the tenth time. Hearing her footsteps coming towards him, he didn't even try to get up.

"Pathetic. Is there any reason you're not fighting me?"

He felt himself being lifted up by his neck. "I should kill you on the spot." He opened his eyes, only to see her unoccupied hand pointing at him with her finger, a cero slowly forming. But yet in the face of danger, he did nothing. He merely stared at her eyes, wanting her to somehow snap out of it.

Little by little the cero began to grow in size, and then it suddenly…vanished.

"Your eyes…such determination you hold in them…I like it."

Gin's eyes widened at her words, yet he could not say anything because next thing he knew she was breaking off the bottom part of her mask and lip-locking him. He gasped in surprise, allowing her to deepen the one sided kiss. She explored her new fascination before finally pulling away, moving her lips towards his ear.

"You are mine now, shinigami. Do not forget that." She whispered, making his body shiver in response. But the unexpected had happened, she fainted. Gin tried to catch her, but being injured himself, he was not able to do so and only ended up falling as well.

He could vaguely remember being taken to a healer by one of the Espadas but the rest was a blur.
