The wedding reception was even busier than the ceremony and there was way over 200 guests in attendance. Beck, Jade, Andre, Cat, Robbie and Ryan sat together at a table near the back window and mostly just socialised with each other. The few times anyone did approach the table they were usually Marks relatives or girls from the boat party. They stayed for a while, chatting to Cat and sometimes Jade. Any that did talk to Jade also talked to Beck and after discovering they'd been together so long would make the following comment.
"Oooh so you two will be next then."
And Beck would reply.. "No way. Not us. We're not into the marriage and weddings thing." and Jade would just smile painfully until the conversation ended.
The speeches were lovely and once again Mark impressed everyone by telling the story of how he proposed to Tori and how she was the one at first sight. Tori smiled and got teary, completely in love with him. Since her father wasn't present, Marks Father stood up and welcomed Tori into the family and said he couldn't have asked for a lovelier daughter-in-law. Everyone clapped and cheered loudly after that, even Andre.
When Andre finally got the chance to congratulate Tori alone, it was easier than he expected. He'd done the hard parts already. Tori hugged him tightly and thanked him for coming and being supportive, assuring him once again that Mark was a great guy and he had no reason to be worried. Andre nodded and told her she looked beautiful and shook Marks hand. It sucked but what choice did he have?
He tried hitting on a couple of the girls at the party but most of them were a lot older than him and had absolutely no interest in him. Eventually he just gave up and spent the rest of the party talking to Cat, Robbie and Ryan. The three of them could have the most bizarre conversations and it seemed to make sense to them and they laughed a lot. Andre thought they might as well be talking in another language.
Beck and Jade had been kissing and just talking quietly together for the majority of the night, happy in the bubble of their relationship so he hadn't really been paying attention to them. He spent enough time as it was third wheeling with bade. But it was when one of the bridesmaids approached the couple that Andre looked up. If there was anyone more obviously a couple than Tori and Mark tonight, it was Beck and Jade. They were stuck to each other and it really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they were serious.
"Hi cutie." Rae sat down on the other side to Beck and gently grazed her fingertips on his forearm. "Wow Tori told me you were hot but she didn't mention you were completely gorgeous too."
"Haha umm.. thanks I think." Beck glanced nervously at Jade who was scowling furiously but didn't push the bridesmaid away.
"You have insane hair." Rae ran her hand through Beck's hair like she were petting a puppy. She pushed her breasts up against him, her face inches from his. Beck just sat still, completely taken off guard. No one ever flirted with him this obviously in front of Jade and it was weird. Still he was slightly entranced by this girls bright green eyes.
"Surprisingly you're not the first person who's told him that." Andre interrupted the moment, mostly for Jade's sake. Her furious expression proved she didn't like this one bit, but for some reason she wasn't intervening.
"And you have that perfect skin tone." Rae continued to compliment Beck shamelessly. Jade exhaled and shook her head, standing up and walking away. Beck turned his head in confusion as she left, but Rae pulled him back to face her, tucking a piece of his hair behind his ear.
"Would you consider being a lead model for my new shoot?" Rae asked intensely.
"Modelling?" Beck shook his head skeptically "I have absolutely no experience."
"You're an actor right?" Rae confirmed, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "It's just like acting, you'll be fine! Come meet my partner for the shoot.. seriously your look is perfect."
"Alright but only for ten minutes." Beck agreed. Andre raised an eyebrow slightly shocked with him for completely forgetting about Jade. That was if he even realised she was upset. Andre glanced in the direction Jade left and decided he'd go check on her. Yeah she wasn't his best friend and usually she was possessive about Beck but he could see why she was mad about this.
Due to the sheer number of people at the wedding, it took a while before Andre found Jade. She was stood alone on the balcony with a glass of wine in her hand and a stony expression on her face. Andre stepped closer to her cautiously.
"What was that West? If this was Hollywood Arts you would have ripped that girls hair out." Andre tried the lighthearted technique, unsure how to approach this. Jade just sighed and took a long sip of her drink. So much for never drinking again.
"I'm done with the jealousy." Jade replied. Andre recognised that look in his friend's face. He hadn't seen it often but he knew exactly when Jade was trying not to cry and right now she was struggling.
"I just want him to want me." Jade mumbled quietly.
"Hey he wants you, what are you talking about?" Andre wrapped an arm around her comfortingly.
"I'm sick of fighting off every girl that comes into contact with him." Jade leant an exhausted head on Andre's chest. "He should fight for me. But instead he makes a point of telling strangers that we're definitely never getting married.. What the hell is that?"
"I'm not defending him for that okay? He's being a dickhead but he loves you. You know that."
"Sometimes I don't." Jade admitted, with sadness under toning her voice. Andre looked sympathetic and held her a little tighter whilst she wiped tears out of her eyes.
"Today sucked right?" Jade sighed.
"Kind of.. I am happy for Tori though." Andre nodded.
"Liar." Jade smirked before looking out at the night sky again. It was a beautiful, clear night and you could see the mountains, the sea and the stars from this house. In a way it made them feel small and their problems insignificant. There was a whole big world out there and here they were miserable at a wedding. Both, in one way or another heartsick.
... eek!
