Chapter 11: New Guards
Night 1
"Can you please tell me once again why you forced me to do the night shift first?!" Ike shouted at the tablet where Fox was on the screen while the others were ignoring the video chat.
"None of us wanted to do the job today so you're the only one who actually does a decent job with anything!"
"That's not true, I'm sometimes terrible at a few jobs."
"You'll do just fine Ike!" Pit shouted from the couch of the living room.
"I doubt it!" The knight slouched on the moving chair and sighing heavily as he looked up to the ceiling where a chandelier light shined down on him.
"Oh well, hope you have a blast with the job, bye!" The tablet shutted down and Ike placed it on the floor so he wouldn't confuse it with the monitor that nearly had a similar design.
"Bye…" He looked to the left where a window was next to an open doorway with two buttons next to it, a red one above it with the word, 'Door' above it. Underneath it was the white button with 'Light' written underneath it. The other side had the exact same thing.
A metallic fan was on the desk and two drawers underneath it, both filled with papers that weren't so interesting to look at. A small TV set was beside a drink and rolled up balls of paper, children's drawings were surrounding the walls of the office as a sort of decoration, and next to them was a huge poster of Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica.
They seemed as happy as the children, rocking out on the stage for the viewer's entertainment. Ike looked away from the poster and pulled up the monitor, checking the stage to see the three main animatronics standing at their usual spots.
It seemed as though they wanted to do another song for the kids despite the fact that it was midnight. Ike couldn't blame them, that was what they were made to do and even they can't do that purpose at night.
As he placed the monitor down, a phone started ringing, gaining his attention. He looked around for the phone but for the next few seconds, it stopped and then delivered a message.
'Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to help you get settled in on your first night.' A random guy's voice came from the call. 'Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine.'
"Well, thanks for that." Ike replied to the complement.
'So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?'
Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. Um, "Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced." '
"That's good info to know." Ike said to no one.
'Blah blah blah, now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too.'
A light chuckle came from the knight.
'So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay.'
"Ok, that'll be useful to tell the others." Ike adjusted his cap, hearing the information while dusting off some cobwebs from under the table.
'So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night.'
"What?"
Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?'
The only thing the knight could think of was, 'You're joking, right?'
'Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on.'
'Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...and death.'
"Ok, you really have to be joking." Nervously, Ike straighten himself and grabbed the monitor.
'Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh.'
"Stop it, this is going too far…" he shook his head, denying the very thing that the animatronics could presumably do.
'Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow.'
Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night."
Once the call ended, Ike looked at the monitor to see the three animatronics still on stage. At least that's a good thing, although if that 'joke' was true, then he'd be stuck in this place with those guys for a few hours and it wouldn't be pretty.
The next camera showed a row of tables and seats, perfect for anybody to have a birthday and watch the main attractions. Nothing of importance was there so he checked Pirate Cove, and the dim purple curtains remained closed from the sight of the camera.
"So far so good." It wasn't like he was afraid, he was being cautious. His hand touched the side of the tablet and it goes to the Backstage. Inside was a shelf that contained masks of the three mascots, most had no eyes or just carried the same boring expression. On a table was a metallic skeleton with a square head and two eyes looking away from the camera, possibly something for a new animatronic.
That didn't seem much of an interest to Ike at this point so he switched to the Supply Closet, which was just nothing of importance either since he wasn't a fan of tile floors being the star of the camera feed. The restrooms were pretty much the same too, so he skipped to the Kitchen where he was greeted with a static screen. The words, 'CAMERA DISABLED. AUDIO ONLY' were displayed.
Since that was all the cameras showed, Ike placed the monitor down and leaned back in his chair, trying to forget the nonsense he heard.
The silence accompanying him along with the fan blowing on his face from the table, it was also too bad that he didn't bring any snacks because he was feeling a little hungry. If he weren't a security guy, he'd end up stealing stuff in the kitchen.
He didn't know how much time has passed after he chose to use his tablet and watch a random movie from a streaming website. So far, it was the only good part of this job. It was a miracle that he didn't fall asleep at this point, besides the freedom of watching movies in an office, there wasn't anything to do.
Unfortunately for him, the tablet flashed a notification that said, '10 percent remaining.' "Darn." He sighed and then took out his charger to put it in a plug in. A new problem came as the Fan's plug and the monitor plug were taking up space.
He sighed and looked around, obviously noting that there was no other plug ins. "Fine, i'll get to work." He picks up the tablet and checked on the three animatronics. "What the…?"
There was only Chica and Freddy on stage, Bonnie was nowhere to be seen. "WHAT THE?" From the looks of it, someone must've carried the animatronic and run off with him for some evil scheme. In desperation, he switched to a different camera to find the burglars and instead saw the black outline of the rabbit animatronic in the dining area.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he placed the monitor on his lap and wiped the sweat off his forehead, at least nothing was stolen but there was a new problem. The animatronics CAN move. He looked back at the monitor, keeping a close eye on Bonnie who just stood in his new position like a statue.
"Why wasn't it just a joke! It should've been a joke!" He muttered to himself, understanding what the guy on the phone meant. Suddenly the screen glitches out, leaving a black screen for only a few seconds as it showed the disappearance of Bonnie and replacing him was Chica, who stood next to the a table with her mouth slightly opened, her eyes staring at the camera.
"Are you freaking kidding me?" He switched to the Stage camera where Freddy was just standing there, Ike figured that he must be lonely but he wasn't gonna go comfort him at this time.
Switching to the West Hall Camera, he sees Bonnie standing at the end of the hall. Then he laced the monitor down and looked out the left door, seeing the shadow of the animatronic from a distance.
"Hey, go back to your stage!" He shouted and pressed the door button, letting the metal door slam down to block access from the office. He could also press the button to the right door but since no one was going down that hall, it was best left open.
Pulling up the monitor, he did a quick sweep of the cameras and noted that they've moved positions once again since Bonnie was detected in the Supply Closet while Chica was nowhere to be seen, though the small sound of pans suggested her being in the kitchen.
Ike pressed the door button to the left and peeked his head out again, but no animatronic was detected so he went back to his work station. Keeping a close eye on the monitor, he set it to the supply closet and looked out both doorways in case they started moving again. On the right he could just see the faint silhouette of Chica who wasn't illuminated well from the light hanging on the ceiling. He ducked back in his office and pressed the door button, sealing the right path shut.
'It looks like i'm getting the hang of this.' Ike thought and sighed as he looked at the cameras again, only he noticed that Bonnie had vanished. He was about to look at the left doorway again but this time he pressed the light button, he screamed in a high pitched tone.
There stood the blue rabbit animatronic staring blankly at Ike, and then the door slammed shut on him.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?" Ike closed the other door and hid underneath the desk, hugging himself to possibly make him feel a lot safer. "What the hell was that?"
He remained under the desk while trembling and took the monitor as he checked on the cameras, Chica was still in her spot and Bonnie wasn't there, probably still chilling behind that steel door.
After another minute, he checked the monitor and saw Bonnie hanging out by the
Then he chose to look at the backstage, and unfortunately the next problem was everything in the entire room was staring at the camera. The eyeless masks were turned towards it, and especially the metal endoskeleton that had its head adjusted suddenly.
He dropped the montior and hugged himself tightly, "You're not going to get in this office, and you will never stuff me in your suits of uncomfortableness!"
After shouting as loud as an alarm bell and crossing his arms like a proud combatant who won an epic event, the light suddenly turned off, followed by the metal doors opening up to reveal the darkness of the hallways.
"Um...help?"
Almost immediately, he moved the deactivated monitor as a shield and waited for one of the robots to walk in, ready to ambush them but silence just filled the Office for a few seconds. The knight stood his ground even more until he heard loud footsteps approaching from his right. A loud tune announced itself and got louder when it came to the office.
'Well Ike, you always dreamed you'd go down fighting, well now is the time.' Having a firm grip on the device, the knight took a deep breath before stepping out from under the desk and swung down the monitor against the darkness.
In a second, all the lights came back on and the sound of children cheering filled the room, along with confetti falling from the ceiling for some reason. He knew that what happened was a good thing, he made it to Six AM.
"Ha! I have bested you you robot machines of-" That was all he could say before he slowly fainted on the tile floor.
To be continued...
