Enjolras had finally convinced Eponine to stay at the hospital for the duration of her illness, or at least for the time being. Unfortunately since he was the one to convince her, he was the one that had to deal with the repercussions. Eponine had taken it upon herself to be as annoying as possible while Enjolras was making her stay in the hospital. Eponine, as much as Enjolras loved her, was driving him up the wall. The constant nagging and prodding from her had his teeth on edge. Although he wasn't really mad at her, he never could be, but she was purposely trying to annoy him. While she poked her fun she was slyly say 'this wouldn't happen if I was at homeā¦'
'Enjolras' she called from the bed.
'What do you need this time Eponine?' he turned around, ready to try to ignore her new attempts at annoying him. She was lying on her bed; her hair was matted to her forehead, which was covered in a thin layer of sweat. Her skin had taken on an almost gray color since the last time he had looked over at her, which wasn't that long ago.
He rushed over to her side. 'Eponine, are you okay?'
'I don't feel so well actually.'
Enjolras grimaced, if Eponine was willing to admit that she didn't feel well, then something was very wrong.
'I'm going to get a doctor okay?' he asked as he kissed her forehead lightly
Enjolras walked down the hallway with an almost frenzied haste to try to find a doctor. He found Combeferre taking to a nurse with a clipboard in his hands.
'Combeferre! Something's wrong with Eponine, you have to come look at her.'
Combeferre looked at him for a moment before hurrying down the hallway after him.
An hour later, after many tests from Combeferre and many grumbles from Eponine, the results came back with Combeferre.
'Do you want the good news or the bad news first?'
Enjolras had moved to the chair beside Eponine's bed and was grasping her hand. He looked at her, silently telling her that it was up to her.
'Bad news, lay it on me 'Ferre. ' she said.
'Well the bad news is that you have picked up a bit of a virus, unfortunately it is either from contamination without the outside world, possibly Enjolras, or something from inside the hospital.' He paused, 'the good news though, is that it's only a minor virus and it should actually help break your fever.'
Eponine sighed; she thought that he was going to tell her some not so pleasant news. This was why she hated hospitals. The majority of people that were there were not receiving good news. The hospital had always been a symbol of pain and death for her, whenever she was at a hospital it was because; her father had put her there with his beatings, her father had put someone else there, or with various members of Les Amis during a rally gone wrong. So all in all, Eponine didn't associate hospitals with anything pleasant, she avoided them at all costs because they reminded her too much of her father, of her past life.
'There is more good news than that though.' Combeferre pulled her out of her stupor.
She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. 'You're stable enough now that we feel confident enough to release you. However, you are to stay on very strict bed rest and if any symptoms worsen or you develop new ones, you have to come right back here.'
Eponine held her tongue at his list of demands; she had a problem listening to people telling her what to do. She nodded her head, at this point she would do anything to get out of this damn hospital bed.
Read and Review!
I know you guys have been waiting patiently for new chapters from me, I'm trying my hardest but this does take up a lot of time to write, and unfortunately I don't get paid for it so it is not high up on my list of things to do (although I wish it was) School is getting really hectic for me and I have a couple of hard classes that I'm struggling through, believe me when I say struggling. Think head barely above water type struggling. People should make English students take math, its cruel.
Anyway, thank you guys for sticking around (those of you who did) and I promise I'm doing my best to try to update as much as I can.
