I need reviews guys! I need to know what you people want from this story so i know where to go with it. I don't know if you guys even like what im Writing
Also, Somthing i should have added, This chapter, all my previous chapters, and all Chapters from now onwards. I don't any of the rights to any of the characters im using. That all belongs to The genius behind Naruto :)
Naruto,Kakashi,Sasuke and Sakura were all tired, they had just fought two Jounin, and now there were this group of bandits.
However nobody was thinking about how tired they were, all they were thinking, well except for Sakura, who hadn't actually seen Nakashima's body yet in the Mist, and Sasuke, who just didn't care. was avenging Nakashima
Gato was dead. Zabuza had killed him with nothing but a Kunai in his mouth. He was now lying next to Haku's dead body.
Naruto was calm. Which was surprising since his best friend had died. He was concentrating on the fight, It's all he could do to stop himself from breaking down.
"Kakashi sensei, Haven't you got something that can deal with these guys?" Sasuke asked.
"Not right now I'm almost out of chakra." he said.
"You guys killed our meal ticket.! So were going to go raid that village, see if there's anything we want there." One of the bandits yelled out. and a chorus of yells could be heard from the mob as they charged forward.
"Not good!" Kakashi yelled, But the bandits stopped as an arrow embedded in the ground.
Squad 1 looked back and saw every person from the village armed with pitchforks, bat's knives and many other household and farm items.
"If you want to step one foot in our village, you gotta go through us!" A villager yelled out which was followed with a chorus of agreement from everyone else.
"Th..they all came.. everyone in the village." Tazuna said, a tear forming in his eye.
The bandits after seeing the mob ran in fear. They jumped back onto the boat they came in, and some fell into the water.
"Where's Nakashima?" Inari called out, which made Naruto freeze.
"Yeah where is the idiot?" Sakura also yelled out, Still unaware that she had lost a team-mate.
" fights over now isn't it Kakashi?" Naruto asked, his voice slightly cracking from trying to hold back tears..
"Yeah. its over Naruto" Kakashi said sadly.
Naruto nodded. and very slowly walked up towards the other end of the bridge, where Nakashima body was.
"Wh,What's going on?" Sakura asked, a little bit of worry in her voice.
"Sakura, go to Naruto, He will need your support"
Sakura nodded, and ran up the bridge.
After a few moments of running, Sakura spotted Naruto in the mist, and then froze instantly and gasped in horror.
Nakashima was full of senbon, he wasn't moving and his eyes were closed.
"N-No" Sakura thought sadly, And before she knew it tears were streaming from her eyes.
She collapsed to her knees and put her head in her hands, sobbing quietly for her fallen team-mate.
However she looked up over her shoulder when she felt a hand on it, Kakashi's hand.
"Kakashi sensei, Nakashima knew this was going to happen didn't he?" Sakura asked Kakashi in between sobs
"What do you mean Sakura?" Kakashi asked.
" we left this morning... He came up to me... he said that something bad was going to happen today... he knew he was going to die" Sakura said sadly.
She then remembered back to what she had promised Nakashima. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she knew she would have to be the strong one.
Sakura then moved from where she was standing, and quietly walked over to Naruto, and sat down beside him.
She pulled him in to hug her, and sat there as he cried into her shoulder.
After a good few minutes, Sakura stood with Naruto, and led him away from Nakashima's body, He was still crying into her shoulder, but she knew that she needed to get him away.
Kakashi walked up to his forth students body. He then sighed and picked up the body.
He walked back down to the other end of the bridge, to where all the villagers were.
People were whispering trying to find out why Naruto was crying, but they all gasped in horror when Kakashi came into view with Nakashima in his arms
" " Tsunami said, and then broke down into her father's arms in tears.
"This boy fought and died to save your village, Remember this" Kakashi said firmly but sadly.
He then turned to Tazuna.
"Can you get a coffin made, so we can transport him back home?" Kakashi asked sadly.
Tazuna wiped away a few tears with his hands, and nodded.
Kakashi nodded and carried Nakashima back to the house.
With Naruto and Sakura
Sakura had led Naruto into his bedroom. He was still crying his eyes out. She gently lay Naruto down on his bed, But he wouldn't let go of her so she ended up simply sitting beside him.
She sat there for at least half an hour, Naruto simply sobbing into her shoulder. All she could do was sooth him and rub his hair.
Eventually Naruto stopped crying, and Sakura realised he had cried himself to sleep. However when sakura got up to leave, she woke him up.
"S-sakura" Naruto muttered out. His voice broken and emotional.
Sakura looked back at him. She never thought Naruto could be like this... His soul had been broken.
"I.e. you d. like me but..." Naruto said before Sakura put a finger to his lips.
She knew what he wanted... He wanted her to stay with him. And to be honest she needed it herself. While not the same feeling that Naruto had, Sakura had also lost her team-mate and friend.
Sakura smiled and lay down next to Naruto, And Naruto simply rest his head on her shoulder, Falling back asleep quickly.
Sakura watched Naruto's sleeping form on her chest. In any other situation she would have clobbered him for being so close to her chest. but he looked peaceful.
"Should I be worried" A quiet voice came from the door, Sakura blushed, then looked up to see Kakashi.
"He's so broken... Naruto's always so happy, its weird to see him like this" Sakura said quietly as not to wake the boy.
"He's lost the only family he's ever had. His only friend" Kakashi said, and quietly sat down beside Sakura on a chair.
"What about Sasuke and I, Aren't we his friends" Sakura asked, although she knew the answer before she had even said it.
"Yes, But not on the level that Nakashima was.. They grew up together, Form him' its like loosing a brother." Kakashi said.
"What will happen to him now.?" Sakura asked looking down to the boy in question.
"I don't know... He needs his friends around him more than ever now... " Kakashi said.
"I.I made a promise to Nakashima that day.. I promised him that I would look after Naruto" Sakura said Firmly.
"He will be broken for a long time Sakura. We have to support him through all of it." Kakashi said.
Sakura nodded her head, and then looked up at Kakashi.
"Can you do me a favour Kakashi sensei?" Sakura asked.
Kakashi looked up at Sakura.
"Could you get me my blanket." Sakura asked, smiling slightly.
Kakashi stood and put his hand's on Sakura's shoulder. "Of course" He said and walked out of the room.
Kakashi came back a few minutes later and gave Sakura her blanket, and she settled down into Naruto's bed, letting his head rest on her shoulder. And fell asleep herself.
The next morning came quickly, and Sakura was the first one to wake. As soon as she did however she blushed madly.
Naruto through the night, had moved, and her arms were around Sakura's waist. Sakura herself had settled beside him.
What surprised her, is that she didn't feel the slightest bit angry about the way Naruto was holding her, It felt almost.. Right? Sakura shook her head to clear her thoughts, and put it down to the fact that Naruto needed her support and that was it.
She slowly got up and went downstairs, without realising she had woken Naruto.
"Morning sakura" Kakashi said as she walked downstairs.
"How is he?" Tsunami asked, instantly worried about the blonde.
"He was asleep when I left I think." Sakura said sadly, but then small sobbing could be heard from upstairs.
"The poor child, he's been so hurt." Tsunami said, tears escaping her eyes.
"It's worse than that... His eyes used to be so full of joy... there empty now" Sakura said sadly.
She then turned around quietly and went back upstairs.
She went into Naruto's room and lay back down beside her Broken team-mate.
"S,sakura" Naruto said weakly. He then wiped some of the tears from his eyes and looked up at the ceiling. his head in her lap
Sakura simply soothed the boy and rubbed his hair, trying to comfort him.
Naruto simply stared at the ceiling, unable to say a word. So many thoughts were running through his mind.
"Naruto I" Sakura started but Naruto's voice cut her off
"My only friend.. no... my brother... He's gone... I have nothing left to live for." Naruto said.
The pain was overwhelming for the boy. So he decided simply to try and shut off his emotions all together.
"That's not true, what about your dream of being hokage" Sakura said, trying her best to cheer him up.
"Nakashima was men't to be my right hand man. It won't be the same any more." Naruto said, trying to block out all the bad images in his head.
Sakura sighed. "Naruto..." Sakura started before Naruto simply stood up.
"I..I need some time alone.. to think" Naruto said sadly. He then turned back to sakura and wrapped her in a hug.
"Thank you... I know it may not have felt like it.. but last night meant to world to me." He said, Gently breaking the hug Naruto turned and walked out of the room, leaving Sakura on her own.
"Naruto..." She said sadly and looked down. She knew that it would be a long time, if ever that he would be his goof ball happy self. But she would be there for him none the less.
With Naruto
Naruto simply walked out into the forest, searching for a somewhat peaceful spot to try and get his thoughts together, He tried his best to force back the tears and the pain, and to remain calm.
He finally found a small stump in the middle of the forest. Naruto sat on it and sighed. He closed his eyes and listened to the sounds of the forest, trying to calm himself and get his thoughts together.
He simply sat there, not saying a word, his small shallow breathing is all the could be heard. This is the scene that Kakashi walked into.
He had been worried about his student, Hell who wouldn't be after what had just happened to the boy. He knew the pain himself from when he had lost Obito.
He walked over to the boy, making sure to make a little bit of noise so that he could be heard.
"Sakura.. I said I wanted to be alone." Naruto said, not opening his eyes.
"It's me Naruto" Kakashi said simply.
Naruto simply opened his eyes and sighed. Kakashi walked over and stood next to him.
"Naruto, I know what your going through right now is painful, it's one of the most painful things in the world." Kakashi started but Naruto stopped him
"He was like a brother to me.. I don't think I ever told him that." Naruto said, trying his best to hold back the tears in his eyes.
"I'm sure he knew." Kakashi said sadly, looking down at the ground, remembering his fallen student.
"Sensei, how do I go on now? How do I live on without him?" Naruto asked. The plea in his voice almost made Kakashi break down and cry.
But he pulled himself together. Naruto needed him more than ever, This wasn't like the times he was bugged for training, or something trivial like that. He remembered back to the time after he had lost Obito, the first few months he was taken off duty, to get his feeling together. He drank most of those away, But he finally pulled himself together when his fellow Jounin talked to him. and helped him get himself together.
"Sensei?" Naruto asked on the verge of tears. Kakashi sighed and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"What would Nakashima want you to do?" Kakashi asked.
Naruto closed his eyes, as if processing the thought. and then thought back to a conversation the two had a few months before they became genin.
"W...we actually talked about that.." Naruto said sadly, and then proceeded to tell Kakashi about the conversation a few years ago.
Flashback!
Naruto was sitting at the table in his apartment, chowing down on some ramen, he looked up at his friend, who had barely touched his bowl.
"What's wrong with you?" Naruto asked rather bluntly.
Nakashima looked up slightly stunned at the question then smirked slightly "Well that was blunt" he said laughing slightly.
"Well you Haven't touched much of your food." Naruto said simply and shrugged.
Nakashima simply went quiet, as if he was thinking about something.
"wh..When I was in town today, there was this girl that was crying. I went over and asked her what was wrong, and she told me that she had lost her team-mate on a mission. I realised then she was a ninja." Nakashima said sadly
Naruto listened in carefully. His friend never got like this unless something had really upset him.
"When I asked her what happened, she said she was a genin, and that a C ranked mission she was doing went bad. I was worried that the same thing could happen to us Naruto." Nakashima said looking up at his friend.
"So? we just wont let it happen?" Naruto said simply and smiled.
Nakashima looked up at his friend and smiled back slightly, then when back to eating his food.
A few seconds passed in somewhat silence, before Nakashima broke it.
"Naruto, when we become ninja, if something ever happens to me. Make sure you don't give up on your dream" Nakashima said.
"Huh?" Naruto said looking up. He was wondering why his friend was acting like this
Nakashima stood up from his chair and looked at Naruto.
"If I ever die out there, make sure you live on, Become hokage show the world how awesome you are" Nakashima said simply and then walked out of the room.
Naruto stared at the spot that Nakashima was standing.. and then simply shrugged.
"Wonder what that was about?" He asked himself, then shrugged and went back to eating.
FLASHBACK END!
After he had finished telling the story, neither of the two spoke for a few minutes. and then Naruto chuckled slightly.
"I never took him seriously you know, but now" Naruto said before going quiet and thinking.
He then stood up, a new look of determination on his face.
"If Nakashima was here right now, He'd be telling me to get my sorry ass out of the hole im in right now and get my fucking act together.. So im goanna do just that" Naruto said with a new-found determination.. he then looked down at the ground again
"I..I don't think I'll ever get over loosing him.. I'll probably even cry myself to sleep for a while. if I sleep at all" Naruto said sadly. but then looked up again determined.
"But ill do just what he asked me to! I'll still become hokage, and I'll show the whole world how amazing I am!" Naruto said, grinning slightly.
Kakashi looked up at his student with pride, It had taken months for him to re find that determination.. But Naruto found it in a day.. and Nakashima himself had made sure of it.
"We're heading out back to Kohona in a few hours. Go and pack your things.." Kakashi said in his sensei voice, and Naruto nodded and ran off to do just that.
A few hours later!
Kakashi,Naruto,Sakura and Sasuke were all travelling through the tree's at high speed. They had left the land of waves, after saying goodbye to there friends. The group would be back to Kohona in a couple of hours. After all they could tree hop now instead of walking. There was no client.
Naruto was still hurting, hell he would be for a very long time. but none the less he kept up a brave face for his team-mates.
Although he did almost break down and cry when the people of wave named the bridge in honour of Nakashima. He smiled and looked up in the sky for a few seconds, before resuming his eyes to the path.
Nakashima's body had been taken back by one of Kakashi's larger Dog summons. The genin were surprised at first, but they understood after kakashi had explained it.
Sakura couldn't keep her thoughts off Naruto, Sure Sasuke was there, and she could be asking him for a date right now. But she was worried more about Naruto. He had told her of his new-found resolution, and she was happy beyond words. But she was worried that he would slip back into a deep depression.
The trip back was spent in silence, after a few hours the group arrived at the Kohona gates.
"All right, you guys need some rest. Go home and do whatever you need to do. I have to go and make a mission report." Kakashi said. He then turned to leave but was stopped by Naruto's voice.
"Kakashi sensei, can I come with you as well. I have something I need to ask of the hokage." He asked in a somewhat sad voice.
"Sure Naruto." Kakashi simply replied, and the two left.
"I hope Naruto will be okay.." Sakura said, more so to herself than anything.
"Hn" Sasuke merely grunted, and then turned to walk off.
"Wait Sasuke..." Sakura started but then Sasuke cut her off.
"I'm not going on a date with you Sakura" He said but Sakura shook her head.
"No it's not that, its just, Don't you care about him? Nakashima I mean. Don't you care that he is dead?" Sakura asked. She wasn't sure what she was expecting from the Uchiha.
"He was weak.." Sasuke said firmly. Okay.. of all the things she was expecting that wasn't it.
"Wh..what?" She asked. She thought that she was hearing things.. Sasuke couldn't be that cruel.
"He was weak. He told me that he was an avenger like me. Aiming to kill someone the same.. But he failed against a weak opponent. Uchiha are elite. If I was in that situation I would." He said in his Monotone voice before a large slap hit his cheek. Hard enough to make his go off balance.
He wondered who would dare to hit an Uchiha, but as he regained his balance, his eyes went wide as he realised the slap came from Sakura's hand.
"how...How dare you Sasuke! I never thought you could be so cruel. you loose your...your" She said before shaking with anger and raising her voice higher.
"YOUR FUCKING TEAMMATE! AND ALL YOU CAN SAY ABOUT IT IS HE WAS WEAK! NOT ONLY ARE YOU DISRESPECTING THE DEAD! BUT YOUR DISRESPECTING YOUR...YOUR .. UGH! DONT EVER SPEAK TO ME AGAIN SASUKE!" Sakura yelled at the top of her voice. She was seething with anger. she turned from her "crush" and stomped away.
Sasuke was... well shocked. He never knew that Sakura could even speak like that.. let alone to him. However, his usual brooding self returned and he simply walked away.
She didn't know where she was going. All she knew that she was pissed beyond comprehension. how dare.. how fucking dare Sasuke say those things about Nakashima. he died saving his friends and his team-mates.
She simply stomped down the main road of Kohona, every civilian was giving her a wide birth. the anger radiating off her was enough to tell people to be weary of her.
With Naruto and Kakashi
Kakashi had just finished giving his mission report to the Hokage. After processing everything that been said. The hokage sighed.
"I see. While I don't agree with how you acted in this Situation Kakashi. I understand your reasoning. As for Nakashima. he will have a ceremony held for him tomorrow." The hokage said sadly.
"Understood Lord hokage" Kakashi replied. The hokage then turned to Naruto.
"Naruto. I am truly sorry for your loss. Nobody should have to deal with losing a loved one at such a young age." He said sadly. looking at Naruto, who had his head down and his hands in his lap.
"I know.. and slowly coming to terms with everything. But, would it be okay if I could get another apartment. for a while I mean?" Naruto pleaded.
The hokage smiled and nodded. "Of course Naruto, we will set it up in a moment." He said
The hokage then snapped his fingers, and an Anbu guard appeared in front of his.
"Take this body to the morgue, have our best team analyse the body." The hokage said in a Commanding nod.
"Hai" The Anbu said simply, disappearing with the coffin.
"Is there anything else to report Kakashi?" The hokage asked.
"No Lord hokage" Kakashi said.
"Very well. Naruto stay behind for a moment and we will set up a temporary new room for you." The hokage said
Naruto simply nodded once more.
Kakashi put his hand on Naruto's shoulder, and then simply shushined away.
The old hokage then called out to his assistant, and asked her to bring him the list of available apartments in the village.
After a few seconds the assistant came back with a folder and handed it to the hokage. she then bowed respectfully and left, but not before giving Naruto a quick smile.
The Hokage's assistant, who's name Naruto still didn't know, was always nice to the boy. "One of the only people beside Nakashima" He thought, and then his thoughts returned to Nakashima's death.
The hokage chose a small, 1 person apartment for Naruto to stay in, and gave him the keys. He quickly thanked the old man and left him to his paperwork.
As Naruto shut the door out of the Hokage's office, the old man sighed deeply and picked up the pipe off his desk.
"That poor poor child, after the treatment of the village, Nakashima was the only thing keeping him going. I fear now he may sink into deep depression" The old man thought as he filled his pipe with tobacco.
The old man turned to the window in his office overlooking the Village, and gently smoked his pipe.
"I fear the people's treatment of Naruto may finally get to the boy." The old Kage thought deeply. He finished his Pipe and then turned to return to the bane of all Kage, Paperwork.
