Chapter X
Hinata froze and she spun around bowing her head. "Otou-san, why are you here? I thought you were at the estate." Hinata only just realised she had said responded without stuttering.
Hiashi smiled thinly "Remain calm...Not expressionless. Why didn't I see it before, Hinata is not my daughter but Hitomi-himes." "Hinata please walk with me..." Hinata turned to her team and Naruto "I have to go. Thanks for the training Naruto." Naruto nodded but as she left he called "Think of a peaceful place and talk."
Hiashi smiled internally, the exact same words Minato had told him when Hiashi was about to ask for Hitomi's hand. "I realise that I haven't been the greatest of influences. That is partially my fault and mainly the elders. I tried to teach you the TRADITIONAL jyuuken because the majority of the clan are doton affinities. I completely disregarded the chance you may be another affinity."
Hinata's eyes widened "O, Otou-san... "Don't stutter Hinata. Think of the Hyuuga gardens.' "What do you mean?"
"I myself am a Doton affinity user, your mother was a Futon and Suiton user. I suspect that you are Wind or Water much like your mother who flowed around the jyuuken stances instead of enduring them...If you are a Futon user it would mean you'd be able to help me with a project."
Hinata's eyes widened "A project?" She questioned her tone wavering. Her father had several projects on the go, the main one that she knew of was the abolition of the Caged Bird Seal. He had to work on that one in secret due to the elder traditions to go into any room they so wished when they wished.
Hiashi reached into his kimono and pulled a sheet of chakra paper "Most shinobi learn their affinity when they become chunin. But it is not unknown for genin to get chakra paper."
Hinata knew of chakra paper, she pulsed her chakra through the paper and to Hiashi's amasement and joy the paper ripped itself into pieces and began to drip water. "Just like your mother."
Back with Naruto, he had found himself bound and in front of the Hokage. "Why were you skulking beneath the floor boards Naruto?" Asked the Hokage gently.
"Your secretary is a bitch, wouldn't let me see you even if you were free. So I looked for another way in. It was relatively easy to sneak past the secretary by creeping through the vents and the forth pillar is false. I opened that, shimmied inside it and slid down it. I was now in the walls of the building, in the false pillar was a thing wooden board which I managed to navigate around by pulling the boards up enough so they didn't break. It's amazing how durable chakra wood actually is. I slid down and flattened myself as shinobi walked above me. I then scurried along to the Hokage's door and slid in...I forgot to mention I did this when I was six or seven."
Gemma stared at the blonde "Just before me, Hermione and Neville started kicking up a shit storm about your treatment."
The Hokage stared at the blonde. "Anything else you would like to tell me about investigations of Konoha?"
Naruto nodded "Main sewer grid in centre of the village. Three to its left and two up leads into a walled off section of the sewer works not sure if the wall was to keep us out or something in."
"Hokage-sama, my friend who we rescued from the foundation said that they were hidden beneath Konoha itself." Kakashi said.
"I also found several remains of what could only be limbs in the sewer tunnels along with several blank masks."
This simple statement sent the jonin in attendance into uproar. "LORD HOKAGE!"
"SILENCE!" The hokage ordered and everyone was silenced.
"I will be taking a squads of ANBU and clans into the tunnels with Uzumaki Naruto guiding us to the wall and we'll take it from there. Also Uzumaki Naruto, I am charging you with three A-rank missions. The first is to confess to all you know about Konoha's secrets, take us to them and submit yourself for investigation."
Naruto nodded and handed over his head band "Where do I go for investigation?" Neko appeared next to him, Neko was one of his more active minders before his adoption along with Inu.
"I'll take you their Naruto-kun...Gutsy move, taking your headband off before investigation. Means this is all you ever wanted to do."
"Because it is."
They arrived in a flurry of leaves and Naruto found himself staring at possibly two of the tallest men in Konoha. He knew the blonde was a Yamanaka due to the exact same shade of hair Ino had. But it was the other one that gave Naruto the creeps, this was the Bogeyman of Konoha, Morino Ibiki.
"Uzumaki Naruto, for questioning. Orders of the Hokage to do with Konoha." Neko said before handing Ibiki a scroll and vanishing.
The investigation went by very quickly and Naruto left the investigation much smarter than before. Alert the Hokage immediately about this sort of thing.
He cleared the centre to find the ANBU, Kakashi, Asuma and the Hokage who was wearing his black battle armour from the First Shinobi war. "Catch." Kakashi shouted and Naruto plucked his forehead protector out of the air.
Taking to the roof tops Naruto found the sewer grid and the ANBU flew into it. "Uzumaki Naruto, you've done your part. We shall do ours I expect a report on all the secrets you know on my desk in two days." Ordered the Hokage before he bounced off into the darkness.
The Hokage and the sixteen ANBU shot through the sewers and found brick walls at several intervals. "Only held up by a fuuinjutsu." Rat said calmly.
Gemma pushed her way through the ANBU and crept up to the wall. "Reinforcement and a barrier seal. Linked with an alarm seal. I can get through these no problem."
The Hokage nodded and Gemma's fingertips came to life. "SEALING STYLE: DISARMAMENT SEAL!" The alarm seal fell apart, without a sound. Gemma swiftly and carefully disabled the barrier and the reinforcement seal fell as well.
The ROOT shinobi in the base paid no attention to the screen that showed the tunnels leading into and out of the base. They had the utmost faith in Danzo-sama's fuuinjutsu.
The four hidden ROOT ANBU were swiftly taking down silently and unconscious. "These shinobi have been brainwashed by Danzo, we take them down carefully and ship them to Ibiki to see if they can be salvaged. If not Konoha will have lost some valuable combatants." Sarutobi said as they gathered outside the door.
Suddenly the door blew open, alarms sound and weapons were drawn as the four sensei's, sixteen ANBU and the Hokage charged in. Gemma slid beneath two tanto's and slammed two heavy palm strikes into the operatives chests and they fell to the floor gasping for breath. Two kicks to the head knocked the offending nin out.
Kakashi, looked his three opponents over and sank into the floor. "EARTH STYLE: DOUBLE SUICIDE HEAD HUNTER!" Kakashi emerged pulling one into the dirt, kneeing another in the face shattering the mask cracked another's sternum with sickening crunch.
The ANBU had separated into squads of familiarity and it was working wonders. One squad consisted of water release shinobi who were fighting back to back with Asuma nearby. "ANBU, TWELVE OF THEM AT TWELVE." Asuma shouted head-butting an ANBU so hard the Sarutobi heard the skull crunch.
The four ANBU moulded the exact same signs as each other "WATER SYTLE: GUNSHOT!" Four orbs of water went hurtling towards the newly arrived root ANBU who Asuma noticed were trying to form a Earth Style: Earth Wall.
"WIND STYLE: GREAT BREAKTHROUGH!" The four water bullets increased in speed and slammed into the first four ROOT shinobi projecting them into the wall like hitting concrete.
Soon enough the room had been taken everyone had a thin sheen of sweat on their heads. "Search every room, take everything. I'm going to find Danzo."
"Or rather I've found you Hiruzen." Danzo appeared with another swarm of Root minions.
"Shimura Danzo, you're under arrest." ANBU Swan declared only for his head to be removed from his shoulders by a flickering Root shinobi.
"No-one will be arresting anybody. You suspected I had my ROOT still operating and you were correct. The Uchiha Massacre, even if Itachi had solely killed the ringleaders of the Coup de 'tat the other members of the clan would have risen up and tried to overthrow us. It was better to lose the entire clan than risk two coups. I made the choice for you and Itachi carried it out." Danzo stated.
"Danzo-teme, how cold were the bodies when you ripped out their eyes?" Gemma asked, her green vest turning black and an ethereal cloak growing around her as she pulled out the elder wand and picked up a nearby Katana which began to rapidly morph into a scythe as her form began to become more skeletal.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I lost my eye and arm in war. I do not answer to you." Croaked Danzo.
Gemma snorted and made a wide sweeping gesture with her wand and the elder went slamming into the wall. "Shiton: Deathly embrace." Gemma flicked the scythe and the fresh wave of minions fell like puppets with their strings being snipped.
"What are you? Your power will be great in our forces." Said Danzo from his position on the wall.
"You ANBU have you got a jar?" Gemma asked as the transformation carried on and the flesh and muscle began to disappear.
"Hai, who are you?" Stammered the ANBU
"Death's mistress you could say. I commend him to spare those, should they deserve but I find many are wanting and lacking. Shiton: Soul extraction!" Gemma said and she poked Danzo on the chest.
Suddenly a screaming, thrashing and a spectral blue Danzo began to emerge from Danzo's chest. "The soul is the hardrive of the body, since I've got his soul we can examine on whim. Now what are we going to do with his actual body? I have a feeling he took the eyes of the Uchiha clan."
The Hokage stripped the bandages off his old friend to find his lost 'eye' and 'arm' was littered with Sharingan and the Shodaime's cells. "Take the eyes out and I'll talk to Sasuke, get your advisors on trial." Gemma suggested although it sounded much like an order.
The elderly kage nodded. "Oh I intend to."
The ANBU were busy looking all over the records and payments Root had "ANBU, bag everything not nailed down. Take everything from the dust to the kitchen sink. If it's not nailed down, take it." The Hokage ordered, Gemma moved off, her arm letting of a fierce light and she came across a room with the plaque 'Research and Development'.
Gemma booted the door clean off its hinges and she entered the room. Inside the room were incubator tanks, upon incubator tanks. Lining the shelves were labelled jars, everything in the room screamed human experimenting. Gemma for all of her skills began to freak out. "KAKASHI! ASUMA! HELP!"
Gemma began to stagger, her legs began to give out and the last thing she knew Kakashi had caught her and got her back to her feet. "Gemma-chan, calm down. You're not alone, I never tell anyone how I'm feeling but I'm telling you this know, this makes me sick. My friend, the one I mentioned he's an experiment. If you can make it through this drinks are on me. I won't even read my book."
Kakashi seldomnly ever parted from his book when in company. A full intellectual conversation with her sanpai was good enough to get her back to her feet. She moved around the tanks looking at the vital signs until she got to one that caught her heart strings. He was about her height, give or take an inch, garbed in black, had the Uchiha crest on his right shoulder showing member of the clan. His hair was black and curled upwards. "WE'VE GOT A LIVE ONE! AN UCHIHA!" The hokage made his way over and his jaw dropped.
"Shunshin no Shisui!"
"Hokage-sama we have five more Uchiha." Said Delta squad which was Kakashi's old squad.
"Uchiha's Naomi, Rei the Izanami Izanagi twins, Nozomi the fire brand, Daichi and Mikoto." Gasped the Hokage, tears falling down his cheeks.
"Someone get to the Mausoleum, check the Uchiha bodies. Find out if these six coffins have bodies in." Gemma ordered.
Then Kakashi collapsed, in the corner he saw two more containers "Otou-san, Kushina-neechan."
