"I got party food!" He grinned.
"I hope it isn't to unhealthy." Brennan said, stepping towards him to analyze the bags contents.
"These are horrible food choices!" Brennan shouted.
"It's PARTY FOOD, Bones, it's not supposed to be healthy." Booth laughed.
"What are 'nutty buddies' and why did you buy them?" Brennan retaliated, shaking a box of the snack food.
"Because they taste good!"
"You got nutty buddies?" Sweets asked, taking the box.
"Hey, paws off in till the other get here." Booth snatched the box back and stumbled into the kitchen. Sweets pouted as the box was snatched from his hands.
"I will not be eating this!" Brennan continued, shaking a bag of Doritos.
"OoOoOoh! Doritos." Sweets licked his lips.
"Oh Bones, calm down, it's a party!" Booth said, unpacking the bags.
"This is irrational! It's all unhealthy." Brennan whined.
"Wait, is Cam coming too?" Sweets asked.
"Yes." Brennan nodded. "They should all be getting back soon."
"You finally ready to have some fun?" Booth asked.
"Yes. Even of this is all foolish." Sweets chuckled.
"Then let's put on some music." Booth grinned.
"Music?" Sweets asked, giving him a look.
"Yes." Booth ran over and started to look for something to play.
"Hot blooded!" Booth said, raising an album in triumph.
"Hot blooded?" Sweets questioned.
"Put it in!" Bones grinned and ran over. Booth popped it in started to play it. He looked at Bones as it started to play and then began playing the air guitar. She laughed and did the same.
"What the hell?" Sweets shouted over the music.
"Come on, Sweets, dance with us!" Bones ran over and pulled him over. Bones and Booth leaned on opposite sides of Sweets and played the air guitar. Sweets looked at them confused before sighing and starting to do the same.
"This is ridiculous!" He laughed.
"Shut up and dance." Booth laughed back. Sweets did so. They all started jumping up and down as they air guitared.
"We're hot blooded!" Sweets half singed half laughed.
"Check it and see!" Brennan sang.
"I've got a fever if a hundred and three!" Booth sang back.
"We're hot blooded hot blooded!" They all sang together. It was at this point the rest of the team walked in. Sweets, Booth, and Brennan were facing away from them so they didn't notice.
"They've gone off the deep end." Hodgins said with wide eyes.
"And they took their shrink with them." Angela laughed.
"I think it's awesome." Daisy giggled.
"Or insane." Cam laughed. Sweets did a jump spin around moved saw them and immediately stopped, stood up strait and started tapping Booth and Brennan on the shoulders.
"Wha- oh!" Booth spun around and his eyes bugged.
"Hello." Brennan said awkwardly. Booth switched the music off quickly.
"You guys...having a good time?" Hodgins laughed.
"Yes we were." Bones smiled.
"Bones-" Booth sighed before shaking his head.
"You started the party without us!" Daisy giggled. "Let's all just get into our PJ's and get this slumber party started!" Daisy shouted before squealing.
"Settle down." Angela smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, this is just going to be so much fun!" Daisy grinned.
"Daisy is right, if we are going to do this let's do it right. Let's on some PJs." Sweets smiled.
"You two are ridiculous." Hodgins groaned.
"I have some PJs here from my stay a few days ago." Sweets took Daisy hand and they started up the stairs.
"Whoa, where are you going?" Angela asked.
"Well Daisy needs to change. I need to change but I might need some help. So why not just change together?" Sweets shrugged and pulled Daisy upstairs.
"Are you serious?" Booth yelled.
"Yes I am!" Sweets yelled down the stairs.
"We should get dressed in our pajamas as well." Brennan said in her factual tone of voice.
"Really? Fine okay Bones." Booth groaned.
"Let's go." Brennan drug him off.
"If you can't beat them, join them." Cam shrugged, walking off the get changed. Angela shrugged as well and her and Hodgins went to change. Eventually everyone was back in the living room. Except Daisy and Sweets.
"Where did they go to change? Narnia?" Booth groaned.
"For Narnia!" Sweets smiled from the stairs, dragging Daisy by the hand.
"Took you long enough! Dork." Booth smiled.
"I love your nightgown, Daisy!" Angela said, pointing at her little pink nightgown.
"Thanks!" She giggled.
"Can I eat those nutty bars now?" Sweets asked Booth.
"Knock yourself out." Booth rolled his eyes and Sweets did a little fist pump and ran off to get them.
"What do we do now? Play some sort of game?" Brennan asked, tilting her head as Daisy sat down.
"Truth or dare is ever popular." Angela replied.
"Whoa now, why don't we just start off by eating done snacks?" Booth suggested.
"These are really good." Sweets said, walking in with a nutty bar between his teeth and two more in his hands.
"Holy Sweets, you've got a weakness." Booth laughed, and Sweets glared.
"Are all of those you?" Angela giggled, pointing at the nutty bars.
"Yup." Sweet sat down and tipped his head back and ate the one in his mouth.
"Okay then." Hodgins tilted his head and laughed.
"Sweets, aren't you worried you'll... Y'know, get sick?" Angela asked, worry lacing her tone.
"I'll be fine, Angela." Sweets rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, cause nutty bars have a secret ingredient that makes them immune to being puked up." Booth agreed.
"Sweets." Angela said, looking into his eyes. He stared at her big concerned eyes intill he couldn't stand the look on her face anymore.
"Fine, take them." Sweets said begrudgingly, hang his head and held the nutty bars out to her.
"Can we watch a movie or play a game now?" Daisy huffed.
"Calm down, sweetie." Sweets said softly, kissing her cheek.
"Truth or Dare time?" Angela asked, biting into a nutty bar.
"Isn't that childish?" Hodgins groaned, breaking off a piece of the nutty bar and popping it in his mouth.
"Yes, and we're doing it." Angela shot back, holding the bar out of reach.
"Okay then, let's do it." Booth said with a nod. "Who wants to go first?"
"Me!" Daisy waved her hand around in the air.
"Okay, Daisy, truth or dare?"
"Hmmm... Dare!"
"Okay um... I dare you to..." Booth paused, his face twisting in thought. "To... Burp the alphabet!" Booth crossed his arms in triumph.
"Booth, that is ridiculous!" Bones said, crossing her arms.
"It's a dare, Bones, it's supposed to be stupid!" Booth said before looking at Daisy with a smug look on his face. "She not gonna do it anyway." Daisy huffed indignantly, standing up and storming off the the kitchen.
"Well now you've done it." Sweets groaned. "You've got her all fired up now! And she-" He stopped when Daisy stormed back, a soda in her hand. "Oh no." Daisy sat down with it and started gulping it down.
"She's actually going to do it!" Hodgins cackled and Sweets nodded. Dais put the soda down and after a pause, she started to complete her dare. When she was done they were all staring at her, except Sweets who was shaking his head and smiling.
"That's my girlfriend." Sweets rapped his arm around Daisy and kissed her cheek.
"Is that something to be proud of?" Hodgins teased.
"I have to say yes." Sweets said, earning him an elbow to the chest.
"It's my turn now!" Daisy said, looking very triumphant and proud of herself. "Who wants to be my victim?"
"Daisy, calm down." Sweets cooed softly. "It's just a game." He said before kissing her.
"Yes, a game that I'm going to win!" She shouted. "So who's up?"
"I'll...go?" Hodgins asked.
"Okay, bug boy, truth or dare?" Daisy asked with a smirk.
"Um... Truth, just because I'm really scared of you right now." Hodgins said with a slight nod.
"I feel like she's gonna break into evil laughter." Angela mumbled, slinking backwards.
"It's all Booths fault. He just HAD to challenge her." Sweets sighed, shaking his head.
"Okay Hodgins..." Daisy pursed her lips in thought, looking through all the embarrassing question she could think of. "How old were you... When you... Lost your virginity?"
"What?" Hodgins blushed deep red.
"You heard me. Now answer the question or you lose." Daisy said, pointing at him.
"We should have played 'I've never ever.'" Hodgins grumbled unhappily, crossing his arms. "17."
"Awww." Angela giggled. Everyone laughed.
"What? No! No, aw!" Hodgins slouched his shoulders.
"Well, it's your turn, Hodgins." Daisy smiled and tilted.
"Okay then." Hodgins looked around before resting his eyes on Sweets. "Sweets! Truth or Dare?"
"He's going after your boyfriend." Angela teased Daisy.
"Low blow." Booth laughed, opening a bag of chips.
"Okay, um. Truth." Sweets said after a moment.
"Okay... Okay." Hodgins put on his thinking face. "What is the stupidest thing you have ever done?"
"Um..." Sweets mumbled and looked to the ground.
"Come on, Lance-a-lot." Daisy cooed. "It can't be that bad."
"Leaving... Um, leaving you guys, and worrying you all like that." Sweets murmured quietly, looking to the ground. "That was the stupidest thing I've ever done."
"C'mon, you've got now 'that time I did ten shots of whiskey for a girl to think I was cool' stories?" Hodgins asked, throwing his hands up. The man was ignoring the emotional edge the room took on, resolute in staying his aloof self.
"Hodgins!" Daisy glared at him and throw her empty can at him.
"Ow!" Hodgins whined, rubbing his forehead.
"Baby." Daisy cooed at Sweets and hugged him.
"I'm fine, and I think Hodgins has a story to tell that involved to much whiskey." Sweets grinned at the older man, who looked at the floor.
"You don't have to pretend, baby." Daisy cooed, kissing him.
"Pretend? What." Kiss. "Daisy-" Kiss. "Daisy!" Kiss kiss kiss. "Daisy sto-" kiss. "Daisy stop!" Sweets shoved Daisy away. Dais looked hurt and stood up. "Come on, Daisy." Sweets whined as Daisy started to walk away. "Daisy! Come- come back! Daisy!" Sweets sighed. "Well that just great."
"Daisy!" Lance called, following after her and catching her arm gently. "Listen?"
"You yelled at me! And you pushed me away!" Daisy cried at him, spinning around to face him.
"I'm sorry, Miss Daisy, I-" Sweets started, going to kiss her forehead before she moved away.
"Don't you 'Miss Daisy' me!" Daisy shouted her cheeks red.
"Daisy, calm down." Sweets cooed at her, taking her by her shoulders and kissing her forehead.
"Why'd you push me away?" She whispered, pushing away slightly, but letting him thread his arms around her.
"I just needed a little space, I just had an emotional moment and you making me feel smothered- wait I didn't mea-" Sweets eyes went wide when he realized what he said.
"Smothered!?" Daisy shoved him away.
"Why. Can't. I. Do. This. Right?" He nearly shouts the words, emphasizing each with a smack of his head against the wall. Daisy's angry face turned into one of concern.
"Baby, don't do that." Daisy went and turned him around and away from the wall.
"I can't do anything right anymore!" Sweets murmured, looking at the ground.
"Shhh... That's not true, baby." She cooed at him and started running her fingers through his hair.
"It is, it so totally is." Sweets groaned, leaning his weight against the wall. His knees felt weak.
"No, no... No baby" Daisy cooed at him sadly and leaned against him. "I'm sorry, Lance-a-lot. I over reacted."
"I'm a screw up, Daisy." Sweets said, tears pricking at his eyes.
"You are not, you are a genius." She smiled.
"If you say so." Sweets smiled tearfully and kissed her.
"I do. I do say so." Daisy smiled and kissed him.
"Are you two done with your fight!?" Hodgins hollered.
"Yes, and now it's Lance's turn!" Daisy hollered back.
The couple walked back to group, hand in hand.
"Oh no... I-I don't want to play anymore. Can't we do something else? Watch a movie or something?" Lance asked, his eyes wandering around aimlessly.
"Let's watch the new Bond! Skyfall." Booth grinned.
"Yeah!" Hodgins grinned.
"Sure, why not." Sweets smiled and shook his head.
"I'll make popcorn." Booth dashed off to the kitchen.
"I'm going to go make sure he doesn't put in an entire jar of salt." Brennan said, rushing into the kitchen after him.
"They are halarious." Sweets laughed with a shake of the head.
"Sweets were you crying?" Angela asked, peering at him in concern. "Your eyes are puffy."
"I'm fine." He replied on reflex.
"Lance." Daisy sighed, giving him a look.
"Fine... Yeah I was cry but I'm fine now." Sweets said with a side shrug.
"You were-" Angela bit off her words, and gave him a slow, happy smile. "Alright, okay, good." Sweets and Daisy exchanged glances and then looked back at Angela.
"What?" Angela asked, looking from one to the other.
"Nothing." They said in unison.
"OKAY THEN." Cam smiled. "Let's find that movie."
"Yeah-" sweets suddenly yawned. "Let's do that." Sweets said before giving a smaller yawn.
"Oh! no, no, no, no... you aren't getting out of this by falling asleep." Hodgins scolded. "you have a concussion, best idea is to keep you up."
"I know that." Sweets sighed, hanging his head slightly. "That doesn't make me any less tired."
"You gotta stay awake, Lance-a-lot." Daisy said softly, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"How?" He groaned.
"Impromptu dance competition." Angela said, looking dead serious.
"What? No." Sweets flopped onto his back and yawned again.
"Yes!" Angela said, pulling on his arm like an impatient-2-year-old.
"Nooooo." Sweets whined pitifully.
"Yesssss." Angela yanked him to a sitting position.
"No. I'm too tired to dance." Sweets groaned and rubbed his eyes.
"Then be the judge, but I warn you. You must act totally fabulous, fake an accent, and throw your arms around while telling us everything that we did wrong." She grinned.
"I have to act like Simon from American Idol. Why?" Sweets smirked.
"No, better. Bruno Tonioli from Dancing with the stars, similar to Simon, but a bit nicer. He also just loves the word sexy." Angela replied.
"Oh fun." Sweets rolled his eyes. "Do I have to?" He chuckled.
"Dance or be a ridiculous judge who yells a lot." Angela said, crossing her arms. By now Brennan and Booth were back, and they had agreed with Cam and Hodgins that the movie could wait. This should be fun.
"Both of those options suck." Sweets pouted. "Is there another option?"
"No. Choose." Angela shook her head and giggling.
"I'm a horrible dancer and my accents suck." He argued.
"But Lance-a-lot you're a great dancer!" Daisy said, tilting her head. "Remember that one time we went to my friend's birthday party and you won that dance contest."
"Thank you, Daisy." Sweets said with a flat voice and an even flatter look.
"Oh, I mean he totally sucked." Daisy said, eyes dancing over the amused group near them.
"Too late to call that one back, sweetie." Angela giggled at the couple.
"Great." Sweets half sighed half groaned.
"I sorta have to see him dance now." Booth laughed.
"Yes, I agree." Brennan nodded.
"I don't." Sweets grunted and ran a hand across his face. "Can we please just watch the movie."
"But this sounds like more fun." Angela pouted, collapsing on the couch with flourish.
"Fine, if I dance, can we just move on and watch the movie?" Sweets asked after sighing. He felt bad, he didn't want to ruined Angela's fun.
"I won't really make you doing anything." Angela smiled.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt to dance... A little bit." Sweets held his fingers apart a little bit with a smile of his own.
"Can we sing later?" Brennan asked, looking hopeful.
"Yes!" Angela squealed with joy.
"We going to do this thing or what?" Sweets asked, standing up and stretching.
"Everyone has to dance!" Daisy said, standing up also.
"What? I'm not dancing." Booth shook his head at them.
"Then I'm not dancing." Sweets crossed his arms stubbornly.
"Come on, man, just do it." Hodgins told Booth as he stood up.
"You were rocking that air guitar earlier, Seeley." Cam smiled, getting to her feet.
"Fine." Seeley said begrudgingly.
"I have some good dance music on my phone." Sweets said, whipping his phone out.
"None of that screamy stuff, right?" Booth asked.
"Death metal you mean? No." Sweets rolled his eyes and put on a typical dance song. Sweets grinned at Daisy and quickly moon walked away from her before trying to reel her in with an imaginary fishing pole.
"Oh god, this isn't happening!" Hodgins laughed.
"I'm not doing this alone! You get to it!" Sweets laughed as Daisy danced towards him, leading herself with her waist. Brennan started dancing, that way that she does that makes you think she is having a stroke. Booth rolled his eyes and joined her. Hodgins laughed and began to dance with his own wife. Cam started to do her own thing.
"We look like a group of 80's dancers having seizures." Hodgins laughed, twirling Angela out, and pulling her back to him.
"Can we stop yet?" Sweets laughed as he did that dorky move where you make your arm move like a wave.
"Eventually." Daisy smiled.
"The adrenaline will pass and you will become tired again." Brennan informed him, doing an awkward move that looked more like 'help-dear-God-I'm-drowning' then dancing.
"So I'm just supposed to dance all night?" Sweets snorted, jerking his head one then the other while shrugging the opposite shoulder off the direction he was jerk his head.
"Yes."
"No." Sweets laughed and turned the music off. A collective 'Awe!' broke out over the silence. "Let's just watch the movie." Sweets chuckled and put his phone away. "Funs over."
"Fine." Booth grumbled.
"You didn't even want to dance in the first place!" Sweets said, sitting down. He looked at Daisy and opened his arms up. She went over and sat with him, snuggling up to him.
"I'll put the film in." Brennan smiled.
"Thank you, Dr. Brennan." Sweets smiled back. Everyone settled down as Temperance put the movie in, snuggling up with their respective partners, with the exception of Cam who sat on the floor. They sat all sat down and watched the movie with interest. Half way through the movie Sweets head began to throb again and he felt his eyes and brain become hazy and heavy with sleep. He buried his head into Daisy's shoulder and screwed his eyes shut. He just needed a few minutes of sleep and he would be fine. Dais was watching the movie, nibbling on some popcorn when felt Lance dig his head into her shoulder. She didn't think anything of it in till she heard the soft sounds of snoring. She looked down and saw that Sweets had conked out on her shoulder.
"Lance! Wake up, Lance." Daisy said, shaking his shoulder.
"Nooo." Sweets whined, snuggling deeper into her shoulder.
"Lance! Get up!" She continued to shake his shoulder.
"Daisyyyy. Please, just a few minutes. My- my head hurts so BAD and I'm so tired-" pitiful whimper. "Just a few minutes of sleep, please" Lance never open his eyes for the entirety of his sentence.
"No Lance." She shook him again.
"Would you two zip it?" Booth hissed.
"Please?" Sweets asked, his voice heavy and tired.
"I'm trying to make sure my boyfriend doesn't slip into a coma!" She snapped at Booth before going back to shaking Sweets.
"Daisy... Daisy stop." He pushed her hands away and squirmed away from her and crawled onto the floor and curled up into a ball.
"Sweets..." Booth warned
"He can sleep, we'll have to wake him every hour and make him walk around but he can." Cam said, her voice slipping easily into doctoral command
"Thank you." Sweets grunted, falling back asleep. They went back to watching the movie, but Daisy who just watched Sweets.
"Daisy, stop staring at him." Angela smiled at her after the movie was finished.
"I'm just worried." Daisy said softly, watching him sleep with a worried look.
"He'll be fine. The credits should roll soon and we can make him dance the funny chicken." Cam smiles.
"I'm going to wake him up." Daisy crawled down over to Sweets and started to shake his shoulder.
"Not now, Daisy, I have a headache." Sweets mumbled.
"But I'm worried." She whinned.
"Nice to meet you Worries, I'm annoyed, tired, and sick." Sweets grumbled. "I love you, but please let me sleep."
"No. It's time to get up." Daisy shook his shoulder.
"No." Sweets huffed irritably. Daisy groaned and put on her thinking face before coming to a rather immature choice. At was at this time Daisy sat on him. Sweets eyes shot open and he started flailing about. "I'm up! I'M UP!"
"Ha." She smiled in triumph.
"Get. Off." Sweets groaned.
Daisy rolled off him and layed next to him.
"Do you still love me?" Daisy giggled, looking into his eyes.
"Of course." Sweets smiled back and gave her a kiss before standing. "I'm going to go take some of the pain meds Doc gave me." Sweets groaned and rubbed his head as he walked off.
"What shall we do?" Angela asked, smiling.
"Can we sing? I sing very well and would like to hear you all sing." Brennan said, smiling in that weird way that she does.
"Singing sounds good." Sweets said, walking in while he swallowed his pills and drank a soda.
"Alright!" Booth grinned.
"Who's going to start?" Sweets asked, plopping himself down by Daisy and rapping an arm around her.
"Brennan." Angela grins at her best friend.
"That is reasonable." Brennan nodded, standing up. "It was my idea after all."
"Yeah, you do it, Dr. Brennan!" Sweets cheered, raising his soda up like he was toasting something.
"What shall I sing?" She asked as Booth hopped up to bring a song up on YouTube.
"What do you want to sing?" Booth grinned at her. "Girls just wanna have fun?"
"The last time I sang that you got shot, Booth." Brennan said, looking to the ground and looking uncertain.
"Won't happen here. Sweets doesn't have his gun." Booth smiled, putting a hand on her back.
"Okay then." Brennan smiled and then burst into laughter when Sweets hurled a pillow at Booths head.
"We need to find a song?" Angela huffed.
"Chill out." Booth tossed the pillow at her. "I'm on it." Booth pulled up a karaoke version of 'Girls just wanna have fun' up and played it. Brennan started singing, just as beautifully as she did four years ago. Everyone was smiling and bobbing their heads. When the sound was most of the way through Brennan waved up Angela and she stood up and joined her in singing, much to the amusement of Hodgins. They all clapped excitedly when the song finished, grinning at the women.
"That was awesome!" Sweets laughed as he clapped.
"Oh, Lance, can we go next?" Daisy asked with big eyes.
"Yes." He smiled, pulling her to her feet.
"What are we going to sing?" Daisy giggled and Sweets whispered in her ear. Her face broke into a smile. "Yes!" Sweets got his phone out and started to play a track. It was hard for the group to contain their amusement when they recognized it.
"Don't go breaking my heart" Sweets sang, leaning against Daisy.
"I couldn't if I tried" Daisy sang back, leaning against him.
"Honey if I get restless-" Sweets grabbed Daisy with his good arm and spun her around before holding her to him.
"Baby you're not that kind" Daisy sang, unspinning herself.
"Don't go breaking my heart." Sweets sang, sliding towards Daisy.
"You take the weight off me." Daisy sang, hopping lightly like she was weightless.
"Honey when you knock on my door-"Sweets pulled her back close with his good arm.
"I gave you my key"
"Nobody knows it." Sweets sang, letting her go before slumping him shoulders. "When I was down-"
"I was your clown!" Daisy sang, twirling around and making a goofy face.
"Nobody knows it" Sweets sang and the couple leaned against each other again.
"Right from the start-" Daisy sang with a grin.
"I gave you my heart-"Sweets sprawled his hand out across his chest.
"I gave you my heart." The couple sang together.
"So don't go breaking my heart." Daisy sang, letting Sweets twirl her.
"I won't go breaking your heart!" Sweet sang, kissing her forehead.
"Don't go breaking my heart!" The couple sang in harmony again.
"And nobody told us"
"`Cause nobody showed us"
"And now it's up to us babe."
"I think we can make it."
"So don't misunderstand me."
"You put the light in my life."
"You put the sparks to the flame."
"I've got your heart in my sights." The couple ended simultaneously before taking a little bow and returning to their seat.
"That's adorable!" Angela grinned, then smacked Hodgins' arm. "Why don't we sing together?"
"Do we have to?" Hodgins asked, rubbing his sore arm.
"Please." Angela said giving him big eyes.
"No. No, big eyes." Hodgins whined, trying not the look at her. Angela retaliated by pushing her bottom lip out just barely, and letting her eyes water slightly. She gave him the heart breaking 'sad-kicked-puppy' look, and he groaned standing up. "You are a con artist."
"Thank you!" Angela leaped up, kissing him on the cheek.
"Look what you got me into." Hodgins glared at Sweets.
"I'm sorry." Sweets laughed.
"What should we sing?" Angela grinned, turning to Booth's computer.
"Row, row, row your boat." Hodgins grumbled. After two minutes of bickering and a train wreck of a performance they sat back down. Everyone sang their little hearts out. There was laughter and fun, especially when Sweets tripped over his own feet when walking back to his seat after singing 'the lime in the Coconut'. But they eventually calmed down.
"So, what now?" Sweets asked, recovering from a laughing fit.
"Well the girls need to do their hair and nails, girly thing. So maybe they can do... That and we." Booth pointed around at the men in the room. "Can go in the kitchen and hang or something?"
"Kitchen...wait." Sweets' entire face lit up, and he jumped to his feet. "There are still nutty bars." With that, he was off.
"He is too much sometimes." Angela laughed, shaking her head.
"Hodgins and I are going to make sure he doesn't make himself sick." Booth chuckled and he and Hodgins got up. "You guys just do your girl thing." And with that Hodgins and Booth left to meet Sweets, who had two nutty bars sticking out of his mouth.
"Walrus or elephant?" Hodgins asked as when he set his eyes on the young man.
"Saber tooth tiger." Both grunted, laughing a little at the glare Sweets gave.
"You guys suck." Sweets said through the nutty bars, before chewing them up, which made him look like a chipmunk.
"What are we gonna do? Talk about trucks?" Hodgins groaned.
"Women?" Sweets questioned through the nutty bars.
"Swallow, man." Hodgins laughed, shaking his head. Sweets did so.
"Surely we can do talk about something." Sweets said before continuing to drink his soda.
"Can I test your hair and scalp tissue's reaction to various goo substances?" Hodgins asks his voice innocent like he's asking if they can pass the salt.
"Do you want to get punched?" Booth asked, giving him a look.
"Right. I get the point." Hodgins nodded, but he was still smiling. Giggling was heard from the other room.
"Do you think the girls are talking about us?" Sweets asked.
"I doubt it-" Hodgins was cut off by his wife's voice.
"He did NOT!" She giggle-shouted.
"He did!" Daisy's vioce came in a giggle-shout of her own.
"Or at least your girlfriend is talking about YOU." Booth laughed.
"You all need to see this picture I have of Booth, from back before we knew you." Cam's voice giggled, and Booth blanched. "Here it is!"
"Shut up." Booth said when he saw the smirk Sweets gave him.
"Is this ease dropping?" Hodgins asked.
"They're yelling...so I don't think so." Sweets smiled.
"That is, however." Sweets said, pointing at Booth who was pressing his ear to the door.
"Daisy is talking about you... You farted in front of her?" Booth laughed.
"It was an accident! She is not talking about that!" Sweets went and pressed his ear against the door as well. Hodgins soon followed.
"He did?" The heard Angela giggle.
"RIGHT infront of me."
"Booth does the same thing, I pretend I don't notice but I'm not sure why." Brennan clinical voice came.
"Same here with Hodgins."
"Why are men so GROSS sometimes?" It was Cams voice this time.
"We need to stop listening." Sweets said, leaning harder against the door.
"Yes, we do." Hodgins agreed, but still pressed his ear to the door.
"I thought she didn't notice." Booth mumbled and Sweets and Hodgins choked on laughs.
"Shut up." Hodgins whispered.
"Its cause their BOYS. It's like, their jobs to be gross." Angela laughed.
"And hog the covers." Daisy groaned.
"And leave toothpaste in the sink." Cams voice came.
"Booth always drinks the milk from the jug in the mornings." Brennan complains.
"You drink milk from the gallon?" Sweets chuckled.
"Shut up, blanket hog." Booth snapped and Sweets pouted.
"Sometimes Hodgins leaves his socks on during sex." Angela voice complained.
"So does Lance. But it's okay because he-" It was at that point the boys all backed far away from the door.
"Let's talk about trucks now." Sweets squeaked.
"You guys wear socks during sex?" Booth questioned with a sly look.
"Shut up!" They shouted in unison, blushing.
"Shush. Before the girls get suspicious." Booth said.
"I'll check to see if their done talking about... Yeah." Sweets edged towards the door and pressed his ear against the door. He immediately turned red and the swung open and fell to the feet of Daisy, Cam, Brennan and Angela. They didn't look happy. "It was Booths idea!" Sweets squeaked up from the floor.
"It was not! Liar." Booth said, but he was already pink from the neck up.
"He pressed his ear to the door first!" Sweets said, pointing at Booth from the floor.
"You were listening?" Angela practically growled.
"Well yes... But so did Hodgins!" Sweets pointed at Hodgins.
"Dude! That's not cool!" Hodgins groaned before giving his wife a nervious smile.
"You ease dropped on us!?" Daisy asked, smoke practically coming from her ears.
"Daisy, remember your breathing exercises." Sweets squeaked, earning him a dirty look from Daisy.
"Don't breathing exercises me Lance!" She growled, and Sweets' breath came sharper. He was practically wheezing.
"Y-y-yes m-ma'am." He coughed out, hiding his head.
Daisy flinched when she heard Lances breathing and his slightly frightened tone. She crouched down to his level.
"Lance?"
"Y-yes Daisy?" Sweets wheezed out, looking up to her, face red.
"I'm not too upset." She smiled.
"I'm sorry. You should be upset. I was bad. We were just standing here and then we heard Angela yell and... Well." Sweets looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry."
"It's alright baby." Daisy smiled, pulling him up for a hug.
"It was bad. And just because you feel bad that I became guilty, it doesn't make it any less bad. And weird. And immature." Sweets said, hugging her anyway.
"Doesn't matter, stop thinking." Daisy smiled.
"No." Sweets said, but he laughed alittle.
"Are you guys going to apologize to?" Angela asked Booth and Hodgins with her hand on her hips.
"I didn't...we...there isn't ah!" Hodgins stuttered, throwing his hands out and looking down to the ground. "I'm sorry."
"And you?" Angela asked, looking piontedly at Booth.
"I'm sorry." Seeley said, blushing at the ground.
"What do you say, girls- and Sweets- should forgive them?" Angela asked, a slightly sly look on her face.
"Whaddya mean 'and Sweets?'" Hodgins asked, his face turning red.
"I think you guys should forgive them." Sweets smiled and Daisy kissed his cheek.
"I don't know... I don't think they are sorry enough yet." Angela smirked.
"I'm scared." Hodgins gulped.
"You should tickle them in till they pee." Sweets laughed.
"No that is very bad!" Booth said, taking a step back.
"Okay okay, funs over." Cam laughed. "It's getting late. We would set up our blankets and sleeping bags, grab some snacks and start to settle down."
"Yes mom." Angela mumbled.
"I didn't bring any blankets or anything..." Sweets mumbled as he stood up.
"That's okay!" Daisy jumped up and giggled and drug him into the living room. She pulled something out her bag and threw it. It popped open into one of those pop up tents. "You can stay with be in here!"
"Geez, Daisy, that's crazy." Sweets laughed, hugging her.
"Is that a yes?" Daisy giggled.
"Yes." Sweets laughed and kissed her temple.
"Good, now help me get all my pillows and blankets into the tent." Daisy said, pulling away from him. He did as she said.
"Why is there a TENT in my living room!?" Booths voice came.
"It's how Daisy sleeps over." Sweets' voice floated from the structure.
"Lance and I are staying in it." Daisy poked her head out.
"Are you sure you want me to stay in here with you?" Sweets poked his head out. "I'm a gross boy who farts and hogs the covers."
"Would you get back in there." Daisy laughed and shoved his head back in and went back in into the tent and zipped it shut. Giggling was heard from inside the tent.
"Dear God, they set up a love nest in your living room." Angela laughed.
"This is ridiculous." Booth grunted, crossing his arms.
"Come guys, come out and be social." Angela got down and unzipped the tent inside. There were pillows lining the sides and two blankets, one red and the other pink with little red hearts. Sweets and Daisy were all snuggled up, cozy, under the pink blanket and giving each other light kisses through their giggling. "Wow, it's actually a love nest."
"Um, do you mind?" Sweets asked, separating from Daisy slightly and looking at Angela.
"It's like Valentine's Day threw up in there." Hodgins said, bending down to look inside.
"Yes, so leave us be." Sweets zipped up the tent and snuggled back up to Daisy and kissed her when the tent unzipped. Sweets groaned and looked at Angela. "Would you stop that? Privacy please and thank you." Sweets zipped it back up. Angela unzipped it.
"Come out of that vomit inducing, adorable, little nest and be social." Angela said.
"No." Sweets groaned. "It's time to settle down and it's Daisy's shift to watch me. Because I say so. You'll have your turn." Sweets rezipped the tent.
"I have nutty bars." Angela offered.
Sweets stuck his arm out and grabbed the nutty bars then it retreated back into the tent.
"You little stinker!" Angela laughed. "Those are mine!"
"Not anymore!" Sweets voice gloated.
"Fine I'll just eat all the Doritos." Angela huffed.
"You're no fair." Sweets poked his head out at her.
"Come out?" She asked before slowly opening the chips, raising an eyebrow.
"We're coming out... For now. Daisy can have the midnight shift." Sweets smirked briefly. Him and Daisy came out and rapped themselves in the heart covered blanket. "Gimme." Sweets reached a hand out for the chips. At this point Cam and Booth and Brennan had set their sleeping spots. Hodgins was still working on it.
"No no no." Angela grinned, holding them away. "First I want to do face paint on you."
"Angela, it's ten at night." Sweets groaned. "Why do you want to face paint me? Your no fair, luring me out with chips that you won't let me have."
"Well right it's only 10! This is a sleepover for God's sake." She grinned at him and bit a chip. "Want some? Let me paint your face."
"You're a con-artist." Sweets mumbled before turning to Daisy. "I'll be back in a few minutes." He kissed her on the lips and unwrapped himself from the blanket.
"Make him look sexy." Daisy laughed, zipping the tent up.
"Don't make me look stupid." Sweets snatched the chips and plopped down. The others laughed as Angela stuck her tongue out at him.
"Will you paint my face later?" Brennan asked.
"Sure, sweetie." Angela smiled as she got her face paint out and sat in front of Sweets.
"What are you going to paint on my face?" Sweets asked, quirking a brow at her.
"Maybe a skeleton face? Or a tiger." She smiled. "Or I could go a little abstract and paint whatever I like. There are some browns that could make your eyes look amazing."
"Just... Just don't make me look stupid." Sweets said before closing his eyes. "Okay, go. Do it."
"I dunno why you're so nervous. You act like I'm you arch enemy." She laughs as she begins painting.
"That paint is cold." Sweets complained, squirming.
"Suck it up." Angela laughed and tilted her head as she painted. "And stop moving around so much!"
"When did your friend conning you into letting them paint your face become normal?" Sweets hissed.
"I never said it was normal." Angela giggled. "We just want to spend time with you."
"And that's great, but all I wanted was to spend some quality time with my girlfriend for a few minutes." Sweets sighed.
"Do that too much and you'll go and forget us." Angela giggled, flicking her eyes to the group. Hodgins was sprawled in a half unrolled sleeping bag, already out. Cam was drifting with a book in her hand, and Booth and Brennan were curled around each other, snoring adorably.
"I wouldn't do that." Sweets opened his eyes and looked at the team.
"They conked out pretty easy." Angela giggled.
"Angela. I want to talk with you about something." Sweets said softly, but seriously. Angela leaned forward a bit, and gave an encouraging smile.
"Well alright."
"Angela... You... I... I just sorta worried about you." Sweets looked at the ground. "Since I got back have said things and... And they worry me. You seem to be carrying a lot if guilt and sadness. You smile and laugh but... I just feel... Like I dunno... I can't explain it." Sweets sighed.
"I'm fine." She sighed, and looked at the ground. "Alright, no I'm not. I hate leaving you out of my sight, and whenever you don't text back fast enough I get this feeling in my gut, like you're gone."
"I'm not going anywhere." Sweets looked at the ground then back up at her. "Look, don't tell the others because I want it to be a surprise, but when I get cleared... I'm planning on rejoining the team. And staying."
"Really?! That's just...awesome!" Angela smiled, clapping her hands.
"Shhhh!" Sweets went, pressing a finger to his lips. Angela giggled and nodded but Sweets face remained serious and almost sad. "Look, Angela," he said after a pause. "I... You seem to be carrying a lot of guilt on yourself and with the team. A lot of blame... A-and I remember when I was in my coma, when you weren't crying for me to wake up, you were apologizing. All of you did. I would like to know what you all feel so bad about... If you want to tell me that is, I won't force you into anything."
"I'm...don't worry." She looked away.
"Fine. Don't tell me. I thought since you always seem to want me to talk, you might be more understanding and willing to talk." Sweets stood up. "I'm going to go wash this stuff off my face."
"No! Don't, I'm sorry. Sweets it's just i think maybe it was my fault left!" She blurted suddenly, standing up also. "If I could have talked to you, been more understanding, if I were better you wouldn't have left!"
"Angela, quiet down, the others are sleeping." Sweets said softly. "It wasn't your fault I left. It was mine. I had come onto the belief that you guys where better off with me gone because I kept hurting you... Over and over and I... I couldn't handle it."
"I should have helped you." She whispered.
"You couldn't have helped me." Sweets whispered back, looking at her with sad eyes. "I'm just... I- I'm-" sweets suddenly looked sick and started to look sick. "I'm going to be sick." Sweets dashed off to the bathroom.
"O-okay." Angela blinked. She tiptoed over to the bathroom. "Sweets?" She peeked in and saw Sweets keeled over the toilet, vomiting. She sighed and walked over to him and crouched down to comfort him. He glared at her, and rolled his eyes.
"Are you okay?" Angela asked softly, rubbing his back.
"Yeah." He coughed. "I'm sorry you saw that. I just... I felt so bad and then my stomach suddenly turned itself over."
"Oh sweetie." Angela said, shaking her head.
"Angela, you- you couldn't have helped me. No one can." Sweets squeaked, clinging to the toliet bowl for dear life.
"Can? As in, present tense?" Angela asked softly.
"I didn't mean..." Sweets stuttered, hanging his head.
"Yes, you did." Angela said sadly. "You're going to get better Sweets. We just have to get past all this... Stuff. Then you'll be fine."
"Can we?" Sweets asked, looking up.
"Of course we can, Sweets." Angela cooed softly. "Why would you ask that?"
"I'm sorry." Sweets squeaked and hugged her.
"It's okay." He hugged her close.
"I don't think I can fix it." Sweets cried, squeezing her. "I think I may have messed things up too bad this time."
"We'll always forgive you." She smiled, hugging him.
"Bull. You say you forgive me but you all hover and cling. You resent what I did. You hate what I did and you're all scared. You can say I love you and I forgive you all you want. You resent what I did and you're all scared." Sweets pulled away, refusing to look at her. "I can TELL."
"Damn straight we do!" She said back, her voice steely. "Yes, Sweets but that doesn't make what we say not true!"
"Yeah, but it kinda does! How can you say you love and forgive me when you resent what I did!?" Sweets shouted. "I know you all love me! I just... Can't understand why! I don't know how you can all act like everything's okay! I-" suddenly the sound of two babies crying sounded. "Damn it." Sweets hissed.
"Love doesn't do logic." Angela said, and her face had gone cold. Dark brown eyes stared him down like she was sizing him up. "We're upset but we have more than forgiven you. Uneasy, nervous, worried that's what we are." She sounded hurt, and offended at his accusations as she stomped away, and upstairs for the children. Sweets blinked for a second before his brain absorbed what happened. He felt eyes tear up. He had done it again. Damn. He felt his breathing constrict. He need air, space, just for a minute. Sweets rushed out of the house, closing the door behind him. After a minute Angela walked down, Christine and Michael Vincent in her arms. "Sweets?" She looked around, no sign if him. "Sweets!? Guys!" Panic welled up in her and ran into the living room. "Guys! Sweets is GONE!"
"What?" Booth was on his feet in military practiced time. "No dammit. Not again." Booth pulled on his jacket, forgetting shoes and rushed out the door as everyone woke up.
"Angela," Brennan gasped, get up. "What happened?"
"We- we had a fight. I went to get the kids and he was gone!" Angela cried, shaking her head.
"Hey, babe, it's okay, we'll find him." Hodgins stood up and went over and hugged Angela. "Let's go find him." It didn't take very long intill Cam, Daisy, Angela, Hodgins and Brennan had followed Booth out. They were all calling out Sweets' name as they walked down the street, waking up some very angry neighbors. After several minutes, they saw someone walking toward them. He had a cast on his arm and was wearing pajamas.
"Sweets!" Angela squeaked and ran up and hugged him.
"Hey, hey, calm down." Sweets said softly, hugging her back. "What's the upset? I just went for a little walk."
"We thought had run away again." Brennan cried, going and hugging him.
"You thought that-" Sweets face twisted into a look of hurt, anger and sadness and he pushed the women away. "You guys actually thought I had run off again!? You really thought I would so it again!? You see Angela, I was right! You all haven't really forgiven me, because if you had you wouldn't have come out here at 10:30 at night! I was right!"
"When someone does drugs, and they go into rehab there's a step." Angela said without hesitating, she stared Sweets in the eye. "It's apologizing. When they do the people who love them the most forgive them. That doesn't mean they don't gave bad days where everyone thinks they won't use again. They forgive but. They. WORRY." She exploded in exasperation. "You can't just expect us to not think you might do it again. Its human nature, you jury our trust. Bruised it. It's not gone but even when we forgive you there will always be the nagging in the back of our heads saying 'he doesn't trust you! What if you lose him? It'll break your hearts again.' You're a shrink you should know this!"
"I'm not a shrink right now!" Sweets snapped back. "I'm just a guy whose friends don't trust him to go on a walk with freaking out! I was overwhelmed; I left the house for a few minutes to get AIR and to calm down. But you all freaked out instead of waiting to see if I'd come back on my own!"
"You. Don't. Get. It." Hodgins nearly growled each word and as Sweets looked around his heart sank. Every one of them looked heartbroken, betrayed, and more than a little offended. "Why?" The older man cocked his head to the side, and ignored the tears welling in his eyes.
"I- I'm sorry." Sweets mumbled and looked down at the ground. "I guess I should have, left a note or something."
"Sweets, you know that's not the point." Angela said, shaking her head.
"Well, I'm still sorry." Sweets squeaked, shuffling his feet.
"I'm sorry for yelling." Angela replied, attempting a smile.
"Angela-" Sweets started before sighing. "Let's- let's just go home, okay?"
"Okay, baby, let's get home." Daisy went and wrapped an arm around him.
"This conversation isn't over, I know that, b-but I need to think and I-I'm tired." Sweets said in almost a whimper.
"Alright. Well I want to watch a movie." Angela said, grabbing Hodgins hand and pulling him toward the house. "Let's go!" She yelled to Brennan. Brennan nodded and started to drag Booth along.
"Your all weird." Sweets smiled slightly as Daisy started to drag him and rolled his eyes slightly.
"And your one of us!" Angela yelled back, grinning.
"HAHA, very funny, Angela!" Sweets mumbled sarcastically.
"Come on, Lance, let's get inside and get cozy in the tent." Daisy giggled, pulling him into the house.
"Oh that's sounds good." He laughed.
"Good." Daisy giggled and yanked Sweets over to the tent before letting go of him and crawling into the tent. "Come on, Lance, I've got a nice warm blanket with your name on it." She sing-songed.
"Booth, they're doing it again!" Hodgins jumped a little on his feet and pointed at the tent, whining like a 6 year old.
"Come on, guys, please just leave Daisy and me alone for a few minutes? I've sorta had a LONG day and would like to spend some time with my girlfriend. THANK YOU." Sweets huffed before crawling into the tent, zipping up behind him, and over to Daisy. He laid down next to her and she covered him with the half of the blanket was around her and then snuggled up to him. "Hi, baby." Sweets murmured, kissing her.
"Let's go to sleep, Lance." She smiled tiredly, yawning.
"Who are you and what did you do with Daisy?" Sweets laughed and kissed her forehead. "I can't sleep for too long, and it's your shift to make sure I stay awake. Would you like some soda or coffee or something?"
"I'm so tired." She groans, curling up to him.
"But Daisy." Sweets whined, before pulling Daisy up. "Come on, let's go get some caffeine and or sugar in you. Sweets pulled Daisy from the tent and lead her over to the kitchen.
Sleep." Daisy mumbled, leaning heavily against Sweets has her eyes fluttered, fighting to stay open.
"Come on, Daisy." Sweets shook her shoulder and her eyes fluttered back open. "Drink this." Sweets held an energy drink, that Booth had bought for the party so they could stay up, out to her.
"Do you hear that?" She asked, turning towards the living room, and squinting. "My God...are they.."
"Watching the Lorax?" Sweets finished for her.
"What are you doing?" Daisy walked into the living room, energy drink in hand.
"Is there any particular reason you're watching The Lorax?" Sweets chuckled.
"It's adorable!" Cam exclaimed, a bright smile on her face. Beside her Angela nodded vigorously, and the two women held hands and giggled. Booth and Hodgins sat on the couch, watching the three women smile from the floor. Both men silently mouthing along with the first musical number that began the movie.
"Parenthood has made you all weird." Sweets laughed.
"Can we watch to, Lance? Pretty please?" Daisy asked with big eyes.
"Fiiiiinnneee." Sweets said slowly.
"Look look it's him!" Daisy squeaked, pointing at the furry orange creature. "He's so cute! I want one."
"He's a magical forest guardian in a children's movie. You can't have one." Sweets teased before kissing her cheek and snuggling up closer to her from their spot on the floor.
"But Lance-a-lot! Look at him." She whined, smiling at him.
"If you two are going to flirt, go do it in your tent where we can't see it!" Angela whispered and threw a throw pillow at them.
"Hey!" Sweets hissed.
"Come on, Lance, we'll watch the movie later." Daisy giggled and drug Sweets away towards the tent before crawling in it. Sweets was soon behind her, zipping the tent behind her.
"Feeling more energized?" Sweets laughed as Daisy snuggled up to him under the blankets.
"That energy drink helped." Daisy giggled and gave him a kiss. "You have had quite a day, my Lance-a-lot." Daisy whispered, inches from his face.
"Yes I have." He smiled.
"You do realize we love you right?" Daisy looked at him with big sad eyes.
"Of course. Of course I do." Sweets cooed, pecking her on the lips before nuzzling his forehead with his own.
"I hope you do." She whispered, closing her eyes.
"Daisy." Sweets sighed softly before tipping her head up at him. "Daisy, look at me." Daisy opened her eyes and looked up into his deep brown ones. "I know you guys love me. You're my family and I love you guys." Sweets kissed her gently before smiling down at her.
"Mhm." She smiled sleepily as the energy drink faded.
"Tired again?" Sweets chuckled lightly when she nodded lightly. "Okay, baby, go on and go asleep." Sweets whispered, wrapping his arms around her firmly.
"Alright just let me set an alarm for an hour to wake you." She reached for her phone.
"Okay." Sweets smiled as she typed away at her phone before putting it away and snuggling up to him.
"I love you." Daisy murmured silently, her lips brushing against his collar bone.
"I love you to." Sweets whispered, kissing her forehead and closing his eyes. Daisy looked at him moments before letting her exhaustion win out. Soon Sweets was out like a light as well. Before Sweets knew it he awoke to the sound of an alarm.
"Aggghhh... Turn it off!" Sweets whined, hugging onto Daisy and nuzzling her.
"You gotta walk, Lance." She mumbled, pushing up to a sitting position.
"No." Sweets moaned, barring his face in a pillow.
"Yes." Daisy pulled on his good arm.
"But..." he groaned.
"Come on, Lance ." Daisy giggled, shaking her head as she pulled him out of the tent.
"I don't want to!" He stepped out and cursed. "The floors cold!"
"Stop being so whiny." Daisy teased, kissing his cheek.
"The floor suddenly isn't as cold." Sweets smiled and held his elbow out to her. "Walk with me?"
"Of course." She smiled, looping her arm through his.
"You are so cute." Sweets giggled, giving her an Eskimo kiss before he began to walk.
"Feeling dizzy, light headed, or nauseated?" Daisy asks, her voice slipping into clinical with an undertone of worry.
"I'm fine, don't worry it." Sweets shrugged the question off.
"You have to tell me you know, or you'll need to go back to the hospital." Daisy chided.
"Daisy, I'm fine!" Sweets groaned. "I just... Don't want you worring about me. Worry is not your color."
"Alright Lance-a-lot." She grinned, hugging him.
"I believe it's my turn to watch our favorite shrink." Hodgins vioce came from begin them and they jumped.
"O-oh yeah." Daisy smiled.
"I'll see you in a bit." Sweets kissed Daisy before waving her off to her tent. She giggled and stumbled off to her tent.
"So." Hodgins said, crossing his arms and looking at Sweets.
"So." Sweets said, crossing arms aswell.
"Want to hang out in the kitchen?" Hodgins questioned awkwardly.
"Sure sure." Sweets coughed in equal awkwardness.
"I'm tired and Booth said I can't make coffee till six. Its three now." Hodgins ranted while pacing the kitchen. "So if I say anything really stupid blame it on exhaustion."
"It's no coffee but here." Sweets tossed him a soda before opening his own and sitting on the counter. "Come sit next to me. I won't bite you."
"I hope not. Its been a long enough week as is." Hodgins smiled, slowly and hesitantly making his way over.
"Well now I might just bite you." Sweets teased, playfully elbowing Hodgins as he sat down.
"Shut up." Hodgins laughed.
"Look, um." Sweets cleared his throat and looked away from Hodgins. "I would, uh... Like to apologize... For everything. Getting shot, running away... Running away again... Then upsetting you all so much I just... Don't know where my head is at. I just want to apologize. For everything." Sweets voice was starting to crack by the time he had finished and he still refused to look Hodgins in the eye.
"Did you just say sorry to me for getting shot?" Hodgins asked, eyes wide.
"Well... Yeah." Sweets voice cracked as he squirmed. "That's what started all of this right? It's been haunting us. I m-mean... I still see it in my sleep. Booth does to. And Brennan has nightmares to... A-and it's all because I was STUPID enough to look a away from the suspect long enough for him to shoot me in the chest."
"Dude your a shrink, not a CIA freak robot guy. You did what any human would, any of us would have been shot in that situation." Hodgins said, keeping a neutral tone.
"Thank you. I feel much better." Sweets muttered sarcastically. "What about... The rest of it? The running away... Twice. And all things I said... I have been a real jackass."
"No shit, Sherlock." He grinned, but shook his head. "Yeah I was pissed when you did it but I'm just not anymore. I mean sometimes when I don't see you I get irrationally worried, but I've more then forgiven you."
"Irrationally worried? When do you ever do that?" Sweets laughed half-heartedly, shaking his head.
Hodgins smiled and sipped his soda. "Just don't think to much kid."
"I guess I can't help it." Sweets smiled and shook his head. "I'm really sorry about... All that stuff said about thinking you guys didn't like me... I just... It's just that before I meet my parents, the Finnleys... No one ever really wanted me and... Then I lost them... But then I met you all! And I just... I'm sorry, I sound so crazy." Sweets laughed and covered his face with his good hand.
"I know what it's like." Hodgins cleared his throat and looked down. "I wasn't the most popular kid, wouldn't you believe. My parents always told me I was brilliant, and fed my obsession with science. When I lost my mom when I was teen... I thought the world was gonna come crashing down."
"You lost your-" sweets paused. "Wait, you inherted you company from your parents... Which mean..."
"I lost both of them, yeah, but I was older when my dad died so... Yeah." Hodgins shifted around slightly.
"I'm, uh, I'm sorry about that man." Sweets stuttered.
"It's old news." Hodgins smiled half-heartidly and shook his head. "I'm bored, lets do something."
"Dr. Hodgins... It's okay to talk about it. I'm not going to mock you. I understand what it's like to loss both your parents. My parents died with in weeks of each other, shortly before I started working for the FBI."
"Not much to say. Mom died, dad fell into depression and the next few years of my life were spent at boarding schools." Hodgins shrugged, tossing the empty can of soda to the recycling bin.
"I'm sure your father made sure you had everything. School, friends... Girls?" Sweets questioned carefully.
"Yeah." Hodgins snorted. "Ever since I was little, my parents always made sure I had someone to hang with, mainly the kids of other rich snobs. But after we lost Mom..."
"He started over compensating."
"How do you think I got girlfriends? My dad would make SURE they knew I was rich. Girls swooned and boys hated me. He was trying to do the right thing." Hodgins sighed.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine, at least I've got you and the crazies now." Hodgins grinned.
"True." Sweets said, ducking his head down. "After... After I lost my parents, all I wanted was a family. Then I met Booth and Brennan. Then the rest of you... Then, uh, then Daisy and... It was sorta unbelievable."
"Well believe it." Hodgins laughed, giving a thumbs up.
"I do... I do believe it now..." Sweets looked at him all grinned. "One big, murdersolving family."
"Wouldn't trade it for the world." Hodgins nodded.
"Do me a favor, if she doesn't already know, don't tell Angela about my parents and stuff." Sweets blushed. "I think she would hug me to death. Or cry. Or both."
"Probably both." Hodgins nodded.
"So it's a deal?" Sweets cocked his to the side.
"It's a deal." Hodgins nodded.
"Can I hug you?" Sweets spread his arms out and leaned to towards Hodgins.
"No wa-" Hodgins began, but the groaned and gave Sweets a quick, awkward 'manly man' hug.
"Thank you." Sweets whispered and grinned into the hug.
"Awwww that's so cute!" Angela vioce cooed from the door way.
"Oh for the love-!" Hodgins shouted, nearly falling over.
"Are you okay?" Sweets laughed, his face red as Hodgins was.
"What were you two doing that got you all huggy?" Angela giggled.
"Talking about..." Sweets stammered and Hodgins was standing to straight to be comfortable.
"Football." Hodgins finished.
"You hugged because you were talking about football?" Angela gave them a look that said 'your kidding right'.
"Yes!" Sweets said to quickly, then looked down. "We..u, that is I get very...emotional over football...my erm favorite team..the..uh...uh Packers lost and I was upset.." Sweets stumbled over his words and looked utterly confused at his own statement, innternally he was wondering if the Packers was even a football team. What the hell was their mascot, a man with a packing crate?
"Liar!" Angela shouted.
"You are such a sucky lair!" Hodgins gapped at Sweets.
"Am not. We were SO totally talking about football." Sweets crossed his arms and stuck his tongue out like a child.
"Well that settles that right there." Angela crossed her arms. "He is definetly lying!"
"I'm gonna get my tongue pierced?" Sweets seemed to ask if this reason was good enough, and Angela laughed.
"What big secret do you two boys have?" She smiled devilishly, tilting her head.
"Nothing." Hodgins said, covering Sweets mouth before he could talk. "We having a private conversation about what has all happened. Sweets apologized and I hugged him."
"Tongue pierced?" Angela asked, blinking a few times. "Oh God, tell me your kidding." She smiled at Hodgins and it was understood immediately that she accepted his explanation.
"You two are weird." Sweets mumbled, kicking at the air and Hodgins and Angela laughed.
"Again I ask please tell me you aren't piercing your tongue." Angela said, putting her hands together as if in prayer.
"I don't know... It would go nicely with my other piercing." Sweets joked, exposing his earing.
"It's the beginning of a style." Hodgins groaned. "Next thing you know he'll have a tattoo sleeve."
"That's ridiculous." Sweets said before rolling his sleeve up and pionting at his bicep. "But I might get one of a duck right here."
"A duck?" Hodgins scoffed, eyes wide.
"What did you want? A vampire-werewolf-vombie duck?" Sweets laughed.
"I don't know! Maybe like a skull or some strange Chinese thing or whatever the hell people get! An eagle maybe? But a duck?!" Hodgins still looked confused.
"Hey, I'm baby duck, and I want a duck on my arm!" Sweets continued to joke.
"I will go and get a tattoo with you of you are serious." Hodgins said, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm only joking... Maybe." Sweets teased, hopping off the counter. "You go lay down with your wife, I'm going to go lay down with my girlfriend."
"Alright." Hodgins smiled, pulling Angela back to the blanket nest hed created.
"And they think Daisy's tent is weird." Sweets scoffed before crawling into the tent. He crawled under the blanket and up to Daisy, who opened her eyes when he did.
"Hey, baby." Daisy smiled, snuggling up to him. "How was your Hodgins time?"
"Surprisingly helpful, and good." He smiled, snuggling close to her.
"Great to hear that." She smiled and gave him a kiss. They snuggled up together and began drifting asleep.
The next thing Sweets knew it was morning and someone was dragging him by his ankles.
"IM UP!" Sweets slurred, flailing.
"Are you okay? You were asleep for four hours." Cam said, examining his head.
"I'm fine." Sweets groaned, swatting her away.
"Yeah well I'm worried." She hissed, pinning his wrist to the floor as she stared at his eyes. "You seem coherent."
"And your scaring me." Sweets squirmed. "Let me go."
"Let the kid go Camille." Seeley laughed.
"I'm a medical professional, I get to be worried about you all!" She huffed, leaning away and releasing Sweets.
"I'm freeeee." Sweets cheered sarcastically, getting up. "It's finally morning?" He asked, looking around at the others.
"Yes but we don't have coffee. Hodgins drank three pots before we all got dressed and well...he's out buying more." Booth sounded equal parts amused and exasperated.
"Seriously?" Sweets groaned, shaking his head before smiling. "Well, I made it 24 hours, so you can call off the watch dogs. I'm going to be O-Kay! So can I go home now?"
"After breakfast." Angela said.
"Hope that doesn't take long because I have an early morning therapy appointment." Sweets sighed.
"Fine fine." Angela smiled and ran off to assist Brennan.
"I'm serious! Today I'm going to convince him to call off suicide watch and clear me for work! I need to be there!" Sweets hollered.
"Then eat!" Brennan said, shoving a plate into his hands.
"Calm down, Brennan. The sooner I get off suicide watch and on the job, the sooner everything goes back to normal. I won't have to live off you all anymore and-"
"Well then why don't you just go!?" Brennan snapped, storming off.
"What did I say?" Sweets squeaked.
"I...don't know." Booth looked just as confused and stood to follow her.
"No. I'll figure it out." Sweets sighed, striding after the woman. He caught up with her in the kitchen, and grabbed her arm gently.
"Let me go." Brennan snapped.
"Mind telling me what that was about?" Sweets asked softly.
"It was nothing." She lied, turning away to hide her tears.
"Dr. Brennan. Don't lie to me." Sweets turned her to face him.
"It's foolish..." Brennan said, trying not to look at him.
"Tell me please." Sweets whispered, smiling small.
"You seem so eager to be done with this all... And even though the circumstances are sad I very much enjoy spending so much time with you... You seem very eager to not do that anymore." Brennan said, looking down with tears leaking from her eyes.
"Oh...oh!" Sweets' eyes widened. "No! No , I just want to help again. I don't want to be a burden."
"We love having you around." Brennan cried. "You are not a burden!"
"Dr. Brennan, shhhh!" Sweets said, glancing around. "I like being here to... Though, I have to admit, I would like some alone time, not because your smothering me or anything I just..." Sweets stuttered. "This is coming out bad. I suck." Sweets hung his head.
"You are very good at talking to people you don't know and making them feel better. How is this different?" Brennan asked.
"Because I know you so my professionalness is sorta blow away." Sweets said. "Look... Um, don't take this wrong, but you guys have been... Clinging."
"Yes we have." Brennan agreed.
"Yes, and well... It's... It's uh..." Sweets stuttered.
"It's making you uncomfortable."
"It's frightening really. Have you seen Angela? Scary." Sweets half joked.
"She simply cares about you." She mumbled, looking at the floor.
"I know she does just... Need a little space. Just a little bit! I'll still be around. Don't worry." Sweets gave her a reassuring smile.
"I like having you around where I can watch you." Bones mumbled.
"Would it make you feel better if you drove me to my shrink?"
"A bit." She nodded.
"Okay. Now stop crying so we can go eat breakfast." Sweets gave her a gentle smile.
"I was not-" She mumbled.
"Yes. You were." Sweets chuckled. "But it's okay! You are allowed to cry, Dr. Brennan."
"It doesn't seem like I'm weak?" He asked.
"No. Actually, you crying shows just how far you have come. Years ago you never would have showed so much emotion. I'm very proud of you." Sweets hugged her.
"Thank you." She smiled.
"Congrats, your a human being." Sweets joked and Bones pushed him away and swatted him, but she still laughed.
"Let's go eat... Then I'll drive you to Dr. Heartfilia."
"Yes." He smiled.
"You two all good now?" Booth asked as the two walked back into the room.
"Yes he fixed it. Like always." Brennan nodded, walking towards Booth and smiling.
"Dr. Brennan, you flatter me." Sweets laughed, going over and sitting next to his girlfriend.
"Hey cutie." Daisy giggled, pecking his cheek.
"Cutie? No, no I'm Lance." Sweets teased, earning him a swat on the shoulder.
"Lance the cutie." She says, looking very serious.
"No." Sweets booped her nose with his pointer finger and she blinked.
"You two are going to kill us all." Angela grumbled.
"How exactly are we going to do that?" Sweets rolled his eyes at her.
"With puppy love. It's ridiculously adorable." She said, rolling her eyes like it was obvious.
"You guys suck." Sweets grumbled, taking a bite of eggs as the others started laughing. Daisy giggled, leaning against him.
"Babies are up. Please stop mocking me and go get them." Sweets said, hearing the babies cry
"Yes daddy shrink. You should get going now, shouldn't you?" Angela asked, glancing at the clock.
"What?" Sweets questioned before looking at the clock. "Crap! I'm going to be late." Sweets down at himself. "And I'm not dressed!" Sweets got out of his chair in the most clumsy way possible and scrambled away.
"Am I still driving you?" Brennan yelled after the retreating figure.
"He's going to be the end of us." Angela laughed, shaking her head.
"Come on, Dr. Brennan!" Sweets scrambled down the stairs. His shirt still half unbuttoned and untucked, his hair and clothes were in disray. "Let's go! Let's go!"
"A-alright." She said, standing up and pulling on her jacket.
"Lance, calm down! Your going to hurt yourself!" Daisy called just as Sweets tripped over his own feet and tumbled to the ground.
"I'm okay!" Sweets squawked, getting back up.
"Settle down!" Hodgins said, laughing.
"I'm going to be late!" Sweets squeaked, scrambling out the door.
"Okay, we're going." Brennan sighed, opening the door.
She went and got in her car, where Sweets was waiting, clumsily buttoning up his shirt the rest of the way.
