Chapter 11: Attack at the sea
Disclaimer: Hey guys, it's me again! What, you thought I put this down and wouldn't ever do this again, what? I'm back and more powerful than ever before! Hahah, anyway, I do not own Inuyasha, Mortal Kombat, or Ninja Gaiden. These great series, whether anime/manga or video games, they belong to their respective OWNERS. This fanfiction in itself is completely an alternate story crafted by my thoughts and mind and so it is decided I bring to you, the viewers, another chapter of The Return of the Emperor! Now, join me as we continue this saga til the end. Chapter 11 begins now.
Standing before the group now was Sesshomaru. The bickering had ceased as now all of the focus was solely on Inuyasha's brother.
"Rrgh, Sesshomaru, what the hell are you doing here?!" asked Inuyasha bitterly
"Oh no, this can't be good." said Sango
"Yeah" Kagome agreed. Ryu hayabusa stood on guard, not saying a single word, just watching.
"Inuyasha, why do I keep finding myself running into a worthless half-breed like yourself?" Sesshomaru asked with no emotion
"Hah! I could ask you the same thing! I'm going after Naraku and none of you are going to get in my way." declared Inuyasha
"Speak for yourself, mutt. I'm going to get Naraku's head for what he did to my tribe." Koga retorted to the hanyou.
Jaken and Rin had flew down with Ah-Un and joined the others below
"It's Jaken and Rin." said Miroku
"Look Master Jaken! Kagome and her friends are here!" shouted Rin with excitement
"Clearly.. Following Lord Sesshomaru's pace no doubt. Say, does this look like the 'lost sea' that Naraku was talking about?" asked Jaken
"Inuyasha, I'll only say this one time... Turn around and leave. I've not the time to be bothered with the likes of you." said Sesshomaru
"You know something, I'm getting sick of running into your hide wherever we go!" exclaimed Inuyasha, annoyed by his brother's presence.
"I could say the same thing about you." The full fledged dog demon said, which caused Inuyasha to growl.
"Come on Inuyasha, forget about fighting him right now. Sesshomaru, would you like to come with us?" Kagome asked politely
"KAGOME!" Inuyasha yelled
"What? He's just as involved in this situation as we are, Inuyasha." Kagome explained
"I don't require your hospitality, human." Sesshomaru said
Sesshomaru then took a look at everyone. His eyes then briefly met Ryu Hayabusa's. The dragon ninja glanced back at the demon, on guard and not saying a word. Sesshomaru then gazed back over to Inuyasha.
"Stay out of my way Inuyasha, or you die here!" he announced
"Bring it on! I'll send your sorry ass with your tail tucked between your legs!" replied Inuyasha
The two Inu dog brothers began their usual battle like always when they meet. Inuyasha drew the Tetsusaiga and was looking to slice his brother completely down the middle, but Sesshomaru pulled out the Tokigen and blocked his attack. Inuyasha tried to duck and go for a side slash, but Sesshomaru used his superior speed to dodge Inu's swing and lunged his sword straight towards Inuyasha at his heart. This caused him to jump back away, but his brother zipped so fast, leaving afterimages and sent a right hook to Inuyasha's face.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome screamed
"Hah! The mutt's taking a beating from his brother." Koga laughed
"GO help him Koga!" Kagome screamed at him
"Wha- hey! It's not like I got some kind of gripe against Sesshomaru."
Over by the battle, Sesshomaru held Inuyasha up by the throat, choking the life out of his half-brother. Inuyasha swiped with all his might, but could not lay a finger on his brother's face. Suddenly Sesshomaru's hand that was on Inuyasha's throat, embued his demonic poison and started burning his throat. Inuyasha yelped as the burn marks began to draw blood from his neck. Inuyasha then kicked Sesshomaru in the chest with his feet to release himself.
"You bastard! You're gonna regret." Inuyasha yelled. Sesshomaru grunted as Inuyasha ran for another attack, but Sesshomaru stopped him with his demonic whip. Sesshomaru attacked Inuyasha with his demonic whip, smacking him around and knocking him into the water at the dock.
"Come on, stop it you two!" Kagome tried to plead with them, but her words fell on deaf ears. Inuyasha jumped out of the water, startling the people there that could only watch, and he did a Wind Scar at Sesshomaru. He evaded it and countered it with his Dragon Strike. Inuyasha then performed the Backlash Wave and the two attacks clashed. "You're done for!" said Inuyasha as he puts more power into his attack to push back Sesshomaru's attack and him as well. Sesshomaru jumped out of the way and dashed towards Inuyasha and swiped him across the chest and sent him crashing near Kagome and the others. Sesshomaru then stood over him and was about to lunge his blade right into his half-brother's chest when Koga jumped out and kicked the blade out of the way of the stabbing.
"Sorry, I don't know what kind of sibling rivalry is going on here, but I'm the one who's going to defeat Inuyasha, ya got that?" Koga looked at the older dog demon, who simply looked at the wolf demon with no emotion.
"... Your interference is going to cost you your life." said Sesshomaru
"Bring it on!"
Sesshomaru then attacked Koga. Koga jumped around, using the shards in his legs to enhance his speed. He went for a kick at Sesshomaru, who blocked it with his sword. Sesshomaru then flashed towards Koga, making afterimages of himself and punched Koga square in the face. "Dammit!" the wolf demon said.
"What the hell are you doing? Get out of my damn way Koga!" Inuyasha said while he was getting up. "No chance. Looks like he's coming after us both now." Koga said. Inuyasha cursed under his breath as they both now came at Sesshomaru. Inuyasha went for a swing while Koga threw some punches. Sesshomaru evaded all of the attacks. Sesshomaru swung his sword and sent and enery wave at the two lesser demons, causing them to spread out. They then circled him. Sesshomaru jumped up as Inuyasha and Koga came at him from side to side. They bumped into each other.
"Aaahh! Dammit, watch it you MUTT!" Koga screamed, clutching his head.
"Hey you bumped into me, JACKASS!" Inuyasha hollered, holding his own forehead in anger and looked at Koga.
"This isn't good, they're not working together at all!" Kagome whined
"As it would seem." said Kikyo. Miroku and Sango and Shippo nodded in dissapointment, as Ryu said nothing but watching the fight.
Sesshomaru then came down fast, punching Koga and sending him flying by the edge of the dock. Then Sesshomaru quickly grabbed Inuyasha by the throat and lifted him up into the air.. "Inuyasha! Koga!" Kagome screamed as he pulled out her bow and shot a spiritual arrow towards Sesshomaru, who threw Inuyasha down and shot poison from his hands that melted the oncoming arrow and continued towards Kagome and the others. They all jumped out of the way.
"Keep them out of this, Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha yelled, then surprisedly ran up on Sesshomaru and clawed him up in the back pretty good and actually punched him in the jaw. "Take that you bastard!" the hanyou said.
Sesshomaru stumbled slightly, then resumed fighting with his brother. Koga then reemerged and spinned around creating a tornado and rapidly attacked Sesshomaru who began to struggle with Koga's enhanced speed. Koga then released his tornado of kicks and lunged himself at Sesshomaru and did a dropkick to the daiyokai's chest that pushed him back far into a tree. Inuyasha, who was bleeding somewhat, attacked with the blades of blood, sending a barrage of red energy at Sesshomaru, that cut him up a little.
"How dare you, fools!" Sesshomaru was now angry as he charged the both of them with his superior speed and rapidly swiped his sword at them both. Koga was doing his best to dodge and Inuyasha was blocking all he could with his sword. However, Sesshomaru pushed harder and did a few combos where slashed Inuyasha in several places and ended it with an upwards slash that cut Inuyasha's shirt apart and left a long cut up along his body. Koga, tried to kick Sesshomaru off of him, but the daiyokai countered and dodged his kick and delivered a kick of his own to Koga's sternum. As the two demons recovered, Sesshomaru spinned in a circle, sending his demonic whip whisking around, burning and flicking Inuyasha and Koga back. The older dog demon then lunged his sword into the ground, he sent his demonic power underground.
"Hah! Backfired on you, huh?" Koga asked, feeling assured. Sesshomaru said nothing and only watched the two foolishly run after him again. "Let's get him Koga!" Inuyasha said. As the two ran at Sesshomaru, suddenly power rose out of the ground in all directions. It was the Dragon Strike! It caught Koga by surprise and blasted him unconscious.
"Koga, dammit!" Inuyasha said. He ran forward trying to dodge the lightening coming out of the ground. Suddenly, one of the huge bolts struck Inuyasha as he was knocked to the ground. The Tetsusaiga transformed back and Inuyasha was weakened. "Inuyasha NO!" Kagome screamed for the 1000th time. Ryu was losing his patience as he could sense something was approaching the area. Sesshomaru walked to the downed Inuyasha. He looked over and saw Koga was knocked out cold and turned back over to Inuyasha.
"This is it Inuyasha. Your death has finally arrived!" said Sesshomaru. He pulled his Tokigen upwards. As he was about to lunge his Tokigen into Inuyasha, it was blocked by another sword. Sesshomaru then peered his eyes at the blades and looked over to see Ryu Hayabusa staring right into his eyes.
"That's enough. This battle has gone on long enough." Ryu said
"Ryu!" Kagome shouted, relieved as did the others.
"Wha- agh.. What are you doing.. agh.. Ryu?!" Inuyasha groaned as he was slowly getting up.
"I said this battle is over. There's no need to continue this."
"You dare interfere with me?" Sesshomaru asked, glaring right at the ninja.
"I mean you no disrespect, but its my mission to help these people to the lost sea and stop this 'Naraku'." Ryu simply said. Sesshomaru didn't respond. "No one is getting in the way of my mission. I will cut you into pieces if you don't cease your attack." Ryu warned Sesshomaru.
"HOW DARE YOU! No one talks like that to Lord Sesshomaru! Master! Kill him for his insolence!" Screamed Jaken
"Silence Jaken!" Sesshomaru glared towards the imp. Jaken gulped upon hearing his master raise his voice at him. Sesshomaru then looked into this man's eyes. Ryu looked back at Sesshomaru with just as intensity as when he threathened him.
"Very well, I will spare your friends for now. Interrupt my battle again and I will kill you." Sesshomaru warned Ryu. The dragon ninja unaffected by his threat. Sesshomaru then sheathed his Tokigen, Inuyasha got back up, pissed off.
"Don't expect a thanks, Ryu. I could've handled him on my own." Inuyasha said "You could never match me, Inuyasha." Sesshomaru retorted right at him.
"Would you two stop it already!" Kagome shouted, really tired of their constant fighting. She helped Koga back up to his feet. The group was finally united or at least in the condition to cooperate. "I assume we have a means of finding Naraku?" Sesshomaru asked.
"We have wasted enough time." Kikyo pointed out. Ryu hayabusa stepped up as that was ultimately his very reason for stopping their fight. "That's why I stopped the fight." he said while pointing out to the water. "Over there."
They all looked by the water and saw the ship sail in at last.
"About damn time! I'm going to give that damn boat captain a piece of my mind!" Inuyasha forewarned.
The Dock Master and the rest of the people came out from the houses there, hoping the fighting was over with.
"Hey, you fellows! ARE YOU ALL FINISHED FIGHTING OVER THERE?! The boat is here! Please stop all of that fighting right now!" The dock master yelled out to them The gang had been fighting so much, they forgot there were people out there watching. A lot of them were afraid to step out as they knew most of those guys who were fighting were demons. Kagome and Miroku apologized on behaf of Inuyasha, Koga, and Sesshomaru. They promised it wouldn't happen again when they get onboard. The ship arrived and everyone saw what it looked like. They of course expected it to be just some plain ship that could carry a huge number of people and cargo, but upon the ship getting fully into view, it was completely the opposite of what they expected.
The ship that arrived had an, omninous aura about it. It was a black ship, looked very old and rigid.. It made strange sounds as it slooowly creapted to the dock. It made creaking noises and there was a dragon head at the front of it with glowing red eyes. It had holes around it and was laced with old looking crates onboard. There was a figure in a black hood that didn't show his face, driving the boat. The plank then released and extended down to the dock slowly so everyone could start walking on board. As some of the local fighters already started getting on. The Inuyasha crew saw the ship was filled with this dark smoke and mist all over it.
"Uh.. guys.. That's one creppy-looking boat." Said shippo, getting frightened at the sight of the ship. "Yeah I agree with Shippo." Kagome said. Rin also agreed and hid behind Sesshomaru.
"Who cares! This is our chance to finally kill that bastard Naraku! Hmph!" Inuyasha barked, crossing his arms. "Not before me. hehe heheh." Koga remarked.
Inuyasha, then everyone else got on the boat at last. After everyone boarded it, the ship drifted off. It then disappeared into the misty sea.
With Naraku and Hakudoshi
"Naraku.. Why are we locking him up?" Hakudoshi asked his master, gazing at the prisoner inside their dungeon.
"This creature is very special, Hakudoshi. He is a means to making sure my plans come to fruition." Said Naraku.
"Even if he's using that pathetic human as a meat suit?"
"Yes." The master answered. In the the dark prison sat a man with neck-length black hair. He wore a white and gray kimono and he had a strange, demonic arm where his right arm should've been. It was Goryomaru. The 'arm' he had looked like some kind of weird, 'pod' just sitting on his right socket. Suddenly the 'pod' opened up, and strange lights came out and struck some stray demons that were inside with them.. The light blasted and ripped the demons apart.. Then the light grabbed the dead demons and swallowed them all up into that 'pod' arm of his.
"Ku ku ku ku, he consumes demons to make himself stronger. Hakudoshi, this will be our insurance to use against.. him.. should he decide to go against our agreement. I want you to take the jewel shards from Kagome and her weak friends Hakudoshi." Naraku ordered him.
"And you won't go after them yourself?" Hakudoshi asked with a lot of nerve. Naraku only smiled at him and chuckled.
"Do not question me Hakudoshi. I gave you an order. I expect you to follow it- hmm?" Naraku stopped as he felt a strong demonic force manifesting right behind them. Suddenly there was a burst of fire that went off behind Naraku and Hakudoshi and two figures appeared amongst the flames. Even Goryomaru looked up to see what was going on. One figure was an undead from what Naraku could sense. He looked like a human warrior, a ninja of somesort. He wore yellow and black garments and had a yellow mask covering his face from his nose and mouth.. He had all white eyes, there was no cornea whatesoever. The other was some kind of huge beast with the upper body of a man and the lower body of a horse. Hakudoshi looked in confusion and readied his weapon. Naraku only smirked evilly as the undead ninja approached first.
"My name is Scorpion! Are you the one called Naraku?" Scorpion asked in a deep, ghostly voice.
"Correct. Would you mind me asking what business do you have with me?" Naraku asked
"The emperor wants to see you! He sent us to find you so that we can begin the assimilation of Earthrealm." The centaur-like beast answered.
"Do you have the item that the emperor seeks?" Scorpion asked.
"Hahahahaha... Hakudoshi, do as I say. Find Kagome and Inuyasha and retrieve the shards, now! Do as you're told." Naraku then glared at Hakudoshi darkly. His incarnation vanished, leaving Naraku with the two visitors.
"Well?! I don't have all day, Naraku! You are coming with us!" Scorpion exclaimed.
"Hahahah, it would seem I am. However, before that, why don't I give you both a warm-up?" the evil demon suggested
"Hah! You challenge us? I will finish you right here!" said the beast. "Not now, Motaro, we will let your emperor deal with him personally. Now what is this, "warm-up" you speak of, creature?" Scorpion asked. Naraku only laughed as he summoned a horde of demons that faced Scorpion and Motaro.
"Let's have a little fun, first.. hmm hmm hmm." Naraku laughed.
Back on the boat with the heroes
On the ship on the way to the lost sea, night had fallen. Everyone had spread out a little bit. Most people were getting to know one another as they finally settled together.. Inuyasha and Miroku had a quick chat about how the boat looked. Jaken watched as shippo and Rin played together, along with Khilala. Sesshomaru stood in a corner on his own as was Ryu Hayabusa. The girls sat together and Koga was pacing around, getting impatient.
"Hey wolf, what are you getting so worked up for? I'm the one who's killing Naraku anyway." Inuyasha mockingly said. "Shut up! You won't even get close to him before I take his head!" Koga shouted at him.
"What did you say?" Inuyasha asked, getting riled up.
"Come on you two, it's just one boat ride. Once we get there, I'm pretty sure we'll all get our chance at Naraku." Miroku said, trying to reason with the two. Of course it not really uplifting any motivation for either of the two hot-heads.
Over by the girls
"Look at those two go at it, they never get tired of fighting each other, it's like they're programmed to do it." Kagome joked.
"Uh I know right.. hehe It's really cute tho." said Sango Kikyo nodded while chuckling
"But they're so passionate about this fight, nothing will get in their way."
"You said it Kagome."
"And so hot! hehehe.."
"Mmhmm!" Kagome and Sango were getting all infactuated over Inuyasha and Koga's masculine nature. Kikyo felt a little weird, but smiled nonetheless..
"If only Sesshomaru would have that same fire as Inuyasha and Koga.." Kagome explained
"Exactly." Sango agreed.
"He does always seem quite cold." Kikyo said, also noticing that about Inuyasha's brother.
"He's more 'womanly' than anything else." Kagome whispered loudly to Kikyo and Sango.. They all then looked where Sesshomaru was standing. Isolated in a corner staring up at the moon which is what he's done the whole time they've been on the ship.. Suddenly they all giggled to themselves about him.
"What do you think about Ryu Hayabusa, Kagome?" Sango asked Kagome, suspecting she has to be somewhat interested in him.
"He's definately charming.. and strong." Kagome said, lewdly. "I agree" Kikyo said right away.
"Oh of COURSE you would agree, you fought him already!" Kagome responded with some spite in her voice. Kikyo glared at her, then smiled.
"Don't worry Kagome, I'm sure you'll get your chance with him, but I'm not done with him yet." Kikyo said, with a small grin on her face.
"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!" Kagome shrieked. Sango just sat back and laughed... It was strangely nice having Kikyo around and being casual with herself and Kagome like this.
Suddenly a demonic aura filled up the air. Inuyasha, Koga, Miroku, Sesshomaru, Kikyo, Ryu Hayabusa, Sango and Kagome were alerted immediately. Inuyasha and Kagome told Shippo to take cover inside the ship. Sesshomaru did the same with Jaken and Rin. Miroku told the other passengers to go hide in the ship. Of course, they ignored his warning until they saw a swarm of demons descend down and attack everyone. There was panic everywhere as demons of all kinds flew around on the ship attacking innocent people. A group of people hurried to run from some demons that were closing in on them, until Inuyasha jumped out in front of the people and did a Wind Scar on the approaching demons. Sesshomaru and Ryu Hayabusa also started hacking away and cutting down numerous demons as well. Kikyo and Kagome starting shooting them down with arrows.. Koga was kicking the shit of some demons approaching him and Miroku and Sango were fighting side by side...
"Who's doing this? Who's attacking us on the sea?" Kagome screamed
"I think we're about to find out." shouted Miroku as he performed the wind tunnel to swallow up some monsters coming at him from his end. Suddenly the onslaught stopped as Kagura appeared with Kanna and Kohaku.
"Kagura!" Inuyasha yelled in anger.
"Good evening Inuyasha. Were you guys taking a little cruise across this sea?" Kagura asked, smiling.
"Shut up! Where's Naraku?" Inuyasha had lost his patience and didn't have time for Kagura's games..
"In time, fool. In time.. Well, that is if you even make through this night right here. And who better to make lovely night all the more, alluring, what do you think, Kohaku?" She asked. Kohaku appeared to the side of Kagura along with Kanna. Kohaku had regained his memories, however he didn't want Naraku to know that yet..
"KOHAKU!" Sango shouted out. She prepared her Hiraikotsu and wanted to take off Kagura's head.
"Hold on Sango, we can't risk hurting Kohaku" Miroku said. She lowered her weapon, but stayed on guard, looking right up at her brother.
"I must say, aren't we a lively bunch here." Kagura said, now taking a look to see Inuyasha and his friends, Koga the pathetic wolf demon she fought, that damn priestess Kikyo, Sesshomaru, and, that Ryu guy again. "Time for you all to die and give up the sacred jewel shards." She said.
"Oh yeah, let's see you try it!" Exclaimed Inuyasha "Kohaku, attack!" Kagura shouted. Kohaku jumped out down towards them.. Inuyasha was about to leap until Sango put a hand on his shoulder and gestured for her to take this... She jumped right up with a sword wielded.. The two demon slayers clashed. Inuyasha tried to go for a Wind Scar at Kagura, but Kanna stepped forward and absorbed the wind scar with her mirror.
"Damn, I forgot Kanna can absorb attacks!" Inuyasha said.
"... Wind Scar" Kanna said, almost whispering it. The wind scar was blasted back down at the gang, causing them all to jump out of the way. More demons emerged and attacked the group as well. Kagura chuckled while floating in the air.
"Stop laughing Kagura! I'm giving you fair warning now to back off, or I will kill you!" Inuyasha declared.
"Ohh? Then come at me, dogboy. I'm right here! Dance of Blades!" the wind sorceress replied. Kagura sent her attack wind blades right at Inuyasha and the others. What will happen as Sango and Kohaku fight one another, will Inuyasha and his comrades survive this radical attack on their way to the lost sea? Will they make it to the lost sea? Find out as this Invasion saga ends today and now the Tournament saga begins!
Thank you so much guys for being patient with me.. Time has been on crunch for me lately as I've been so busy with work.. But that's okay, I still will continue to present you, everything I can as soon as possible.. Now for those who are confused about where this starts and where this ends, fret not. I suspect you really didn't even read chapters and just skimmed down to the end, which is why it's confusing to you.. Anyway as far as where this story begins, I have my plans, I know exactly what I'm doing and how I'm writing this. Trust me, it's all going to come together later with a legit explanation as to why everything is the way it is, and why these particular three universes have merged.. That will be explained, about two chapters into the future.. Where the story begins?... Let's just say this is happening between the events of the end of the first part of Inuyasha and TRANSITIONS INTO Inuyasha final act.. Again, you'll have to wait a couple more chapters for a big revelation, slowly, but surely, everything is starting to come together now, the more that it's done, the easier it's getting to write this now.. hmm hmm hm (Naraku's laugh) See you guys, next issue!
