Declaimer: Let me get a few things out of the way. I do NOT own Fairy Tail or its characters, Hiro Mashima does. Flames will be used to either burn Lisanna or given to Natsu to eat. Not all of the OC's in this story are mine, most of them are made by a friend of mine and some we worked on together. With that done let's get this story moving!
*Note* (This is an optional chapter. My partner and beta really wanted this chapter as they are the creator of Demetria and really likes Gajeel. So this chapter is more for them. Don't worry; the rest of you will still get a Laxus chapter around the same time as this chapter goes up. That Laxus chapter will be the true chapter 10. Those of you who chose to read this, I thank you and hope you enjoy.)
Chapter10: The Man of Iron
Demetria really loved her secret time with her iron knight. There was a lot more to him than people thought. Yet she doubted the guild would be happy with him. For her lover was Gajeel Redfox, an S-class wizard of Phantom Lord and thus a rival to all those in Fairy Tail. They just wouldn't see what she saw and what she saw was the man beyond the guild symbol.
She looked at him sitting next to her, working on his next musical "hit" as he liked to call it. Those ruby red eyes so focused on his passion. It was one of the things she loved about him. Demetria would admit that while Gajeel was an amazing composer and writer, his ability to sing and play was a little less than good but she didn't care. It was watching him do it with such a burning love for the art that it was almost forging his own brand of style and it was growing on her. As she went back to her next dress design it was Gajeel's turn to admire his angel.
He looked at her as she was lost in her work. These moments were the best to him. No extravagant dates or hiding from their guild mates. Just them sitting together under a tree that met exactly half way between their respective towns, enjoying being near the other. It still blew him away how such a beautiful, smart and talented girl like her could ever come to love a common street thug like him. All his actions in Phantom Lord always came rushing to his mind, reminding him how he wanted to be a better man… even if it was only for her.
"Gajeel, why are you starring at me like that?" Demetria asked. Not that she minded him looking at her but he seemed to have a sad expression.
"Hm? Oh! Sorry I am just taking in your beauty my Angel cake." He said back, snapping out of his train of thought.
"Another thing, if you don't mind me asking but, why angel cake?" She asked with pure curiosity.
"Easy because you're my angel and are as delicious as a cake." He said with a smirk.
Her mind how ever took that in a different direction, a blush quickly rising to her cheeks. She began to lightly hit him. "You pervert! You would say that."
Gajeel protected himself with his arm. "Gah! Not like that! Not like that! That is not how I meant it and you know it." He said in defense. Though… he wouldn't lie; the first time he gained the courage to kiss her was like heaven, it still was. His world and views have begun to change ever since he met Demetria. Now he even began to question his place in his guild.
"Hey, Demi." Gajeel said with a change of tone. Demetria stopped her light hitting and looked at him, curious at his difference in attitude. "What would you think… if I were to quit my guild and join you at Fairy Tail?" He asked looking at her. He was seeking her genuine thoughts on this, that much she could tell.
"I'm not exactly sure. I'm very happy for the thought but I can't help but think all you have made for yourself in Oak Town and in Phantom Lord. I mean, what about Juvia? Isn't she like a sister to you?" The angel mage said to her lover with concern.
"I have thought long and hard on this matter. I will bring Juvia with me; I'll just need to speak with her. The guild… it's been changing. If I had been the old me maybe I wouldn't have cared, but ever since I met you; my views have changed. I feel that Master Jose is going to take the guild in a direction that it won't be able to turn back from. I also don't want to hide anymore. You're the best damn thing that has happened to me in a long time. Us being a thing won't be an issue if we are a part of the same guild, right? All I need is to find an apartment in Magnolia and leave Phantom behind me. I have made up my mind Demetria." Gajeel said with confidence in hopes of dashing her doubts. This has been plaguing his mind for a while now and he won't let it bug him anymore. More than anything he wants a better life than his past self and that life can only begin after he has left his old one behind.
Demetria looked at him, surprised at just how much heart he put into this choice. The young fashionista couldn't help the smile that crawled onto her lips. "Looks like I can't stop you then. Alright my Iron Knight, you win. Should I let Master Makarov know?"
Gajeel smiled knowing he had her support in his choice. He shakes his head and says "Nah, no thanks babe. I want to do this in my own manner. I'll let you know when I have everything in order. Till then, let's keep having our little meeting." In the distance he could hear the faint chiming of the Oak Town clock. Ten chimes the clock counted, meaning it was ten o'clock and that they both should be returning to their respective homes soon. They met up at seven so it has been a total of three hours, though most of it was spent in wonderful silence. "We should probably return home. The clock strikes ten." He said looking of in the distance; His ruby eyes holding a small bit of sadness. He stood up and held out his hand for her to take.
Demetria held the same look in her eyes as she gave him her hand to help her up after using reequip to send her sketch pad and pencils away. "Gajeel… please join the guild soon. I'll hold this choice to you. I look forward to having you at my side ya metal head." she said with a small smile. She found her doing that more often with him around. She gasped as she was suddenly pulled towards him. His famous surprise kiss. Demetria couldn't help but kiss back as she enjoyed once more, the feel of his soft lips and strong jaw. It was short as they always were, no longer then maybe fifteen seconds, yet they always took her breath away.
Gajeel cursed the parting of their lips but it had to be done. "I will see you at our next meeting. Don't be late angel cake." He said as he slowly let go and pulled away, wanting this feeling to linger as long as he could make it last.
Eventually the two went back to their homes. Gajeel was fast asleep with thoughts of his angel on his mind. Yet for Demetria there was more than just him on her mind. She stared long and hard at a communication lacrima. It had only one contact highlighted and that name was Laxus. If Gajeel was going to come to the guild, she needed to tell him at least. He hid no secret from her so she shouldn't either. Demetria sighed and set it down, choosing to call him tomorrow as it was currently ten minutes till midnight. It was time, time for Laxus to learn about Gajeel… and Lily too.
Not the longest chapter but I think it was pleasant. You would be surprised how much trouble this chapter gave me. Anyway, as promised the next chapter will be also called Chapter 10 as this was an optional chapter for those who wanted to maybe know a bit more about Demetria and to bring Gajeel into some focus. The next chapter Laxus Learns of Lily should be up sometime shortly after this one. Again don't forget to review. Every bit of feedback helps. Till next time!
