Chapter eleven – New beginning.

He simply ran with her until her wracking sobs eased into small hiccupping sniffles. Her arms were locked into a death grip around his neck, strong for a human but not uncomfortable to a vampire, of course.

Jasper tentatively sent her calming emotions with lashings of acceptance. Her breaths evened out even more and then there was a small puff of her warm breath against his cold neck as she whispered, "Thank you." In a child-like and pathetically broken voice.

He knew it was going to take more than that to heal her heart, but at least for now she was calm. To be honest the sobs that had shaken her slender body had been so violent he had begun to fear for her well being – a first for Jasper. He had never feared for any being before.

"Bella, we are here." He said against her warm skin, a shiver rushing down her neck at his ice-cold breath.

"Where is here?" she asked softly, her voice as broken as torn tissue.

"Your home." He replied just as softly.

She cringed and then whispered, "Where is your home?" A tremor shivered through her voice. "I don't want to be here anymore. I want to be with you and Edward."

"Our home is far away Bella, in Romania, to be exact." Jasper said, drawing back to examine her tear stained and pale face.

"Are you serious?" Bella gasped, a ghost of a smile on her equally pale lips.

Jasper returned the small smirk, deep emotion filling his ruby red eyes. "Yes. I am serious. Too cliché for you?"

A small shake of her head sent her luscious dark head spilling over her shoulders in sinful temptation. "No, not too cliché for me. Just strange. Isn't that where the original Dracula came from? Transylvania?"

Jasper chuckled; "You make it sound as though he is gone."

A gasp parted her lips at that tasty bit of information. "You are telling me he is real?"

He gave her a scornful glance as he placed her gently onto the still mussed sheets of her bed. "All fairy tales come from the truth; the best way to hide the truth is to hide it in plain sight. Mortals simply dismiss it as too preposterous to be real and the truth is well camouflaged. Simple and effective, Isabella."

Bella stared at him, her agile mind taking in the simplicity of what he had said; the truth of his statement couldn't be ignored. Human's simply dismissed the things they deemed impossible, thus hiding the truth from themselves.

Jasper smirked as he watched the play of emotions across her mobile and now peaceful face. Pleased with the distraction he continued; "Dracula is the first father, so to speak. The one with whom it all began. Some say it is the devils own curse, I say it is a gift from the gods."

Bella watched Jasper's handsome face closely as he watched her, his serious face filled with animation, warming to his subject. Blond hair falling forwards into his chiselled face, framing it perfectly.

Jasper tasted her emotions and found them suddenly excited, "Change me." She begged her chocolate eyes meeting his ruby ones earnestly. "You can, cant you?"

A slow smile spread across his sensually carved lips; "We can, soon, Bella. But not yet."

Frustration darkened her brow at his refusal. "Why?"

"It must happen gradually due to the fact that you are a switch."

"So Charlotte must ruin everything?" Bella snarled suddenly angry, "I hate her!"

"I know you do." Jasper said, his voice deep and filled with emotion. He didn't bother to try and deny what he could feel so keenly. "But you must try to understand her, its only when you do that you will find peace."

"She killed Frank! In such a horrible way! How betrayed he must have felt, thinking that it was ME that hurt him like that! I can't even think of it without wanting to kill her! I wish I could…kill her." Panting, Bella trailed off brokenly, tears once again streaming down her face. "The way he died, it was so ghastly – evil, nauseating. The pain he must have been in…" she broke off and rolled over onto her side, curling up into a ball again.

"As much as you hate her, Charlotte is part of you, you must reconcile with her and she with you before you can switch between the personalities with ease." Jasper stated matter-of-factly.

A look of pure horror spread across her face at his casual words. "I don't want to switch between personalities like that, I won't lose myself to her."

"If you admit to yourself that Charlotte is part of you, both personalities with merge, finally becoming one. Both of you will still exist – but together. You will simply share all your combined memories and personality traits - nothing will be lost. But for that to happen you must both accept each other." Jasper explained.

"So I would be sharing who I am with a murderer? A psycho bitch that is capable of butchering an innocent man in cold blood. No! I want no part in that!" Bella said firmly, venom lacing her words.

Jasper reached out and ran his fingers through her tousled hair, pushing it back off her face lovingly.

"Bella…Charlotte is merely a part of you. A switch is someone who cannot handle some of the basest urges they possess, so they create another side of themselves, another personality, to deal with it. Something usually triggers the switch for the first time. Anger, fear or some other intense emotion that the original personality feels unable to deal with, its then that the personalities become truly divided."

Bella stared at her mate as if he had grown another head; "So you are saying that there isn't really another personality at all? It just me?" She whispered in shock, her emotions wildly fearful and chaotic. "I killed Frank?"

"Bella, calm down." Jasper intoned, while sending her calming emotions. "Bella…"

Her eyes went blank as her body began to shake, Her eyes then rolled back into her head as her eye lids slid shut. Long, dark eye lashes twitched and fluttered as softly as butterfly wings against satiny alabaster skin. Jasper stayed in tune with her emotions, even while he laid her gently onto the sheets, they were veering between anger and hatred. A battle was being fought and won, as Charlotte tried to come out and Bella pushed her away fiercely. Effectively locking her up.

And then, for the first time, Bella spoke while the change was taking place, her voice shaking with the intensity of her feelings. "Mine." She ground out, her voice hoarse with pent up emotions. "My...m…my life." She whimpered before growling, her white teeth showing from between her parted lips. The feral sound was totally at odds with her decidedly feminine appearance.

Edward chose that exact moment to leap through the open window. His angelic face troubled at once as he gazed on his mate so torn and shaking.

"Shit, I was gone for only a few hours and yet you cannot handle her in my absence." He joked feebly as he materialized beside Isabella, stroking her face and neck calmingly. Edward shook his head then. "Fuck. It's no wonder why she is shaking like this, you should hear the battle being waged inside her head."

"I'm not sure I want to, actually." Jasper said dryly.

Edward shot him a humorous glance before sliding his body besides their mate, pressing himself against every inch of her.

"Isabella…Come back to me, my sweet." He whispered into her ear teasingly. "Charlotte must go now, because its you I need to see."

Jasper's eyes flashed to his mate's as he raised a questioning brow. Edward chuckled mischievously; "I wanted to see if it would work, that's all."

They waited, but all that happened was that Bella quietened more, until she was completely silent and still. Her breaths were still coming out in small panting jerks.

"She wants to go home with us." Jasper grinned, pride filling him at her bravery.

"So we will take her." Edward said simply.

"Is she ready?" Jasper asked, reaching out to slid an impassioned hand through Edward's untidy bronze hair.

A shrug lifted Edward's shoulders just as a snort left his lips, "She needs us, that is all that matters. The rest will fall into place."

He leaned forward and pressed a kiss onto Jasper's mouth, before reaching down to lift Bella into his arms.

"Lets go now." He said.

"She asked to be turned." Jasper said, his voice filled with worry.

"So?" Edward shrugged again, "We can continue to change her a little at a time. That should please her enough to stall for time. We will tell her that the change has already begun within her. Stop making excuses, Jasper. She is ours and she wants to be. Why hesitate? Let us take her home. She will love it, I swear."

Jasper scowled at his lover, "Does nothing ever fucking faze you?" He asked.

"You know it can, if it's important enough. Otherwise there is simply no reason to let life get to you. Fuck we have eternity…why waste it worrying?"

Bella moaned and gripped Edward's black silk shirt reflexively. He lifted her against his long dead heart and after a smirk at his mate he left the room at vampiric speed.

Jasper quickly threw as much of Isabella's clothing and toiletries as he thought necessary into a small bag before following his mates.

…..

They ran long into the night with their precious burden cradled safely against Edward's chest. She didn't stir again, the moaning and whimpering having ceased hours before.

Distance was covered at fantastic speeds, so fast that passers by didn't actually see their silent figures going by. Only the quick of eye would see a strange blurring go past their line of vision and wonder silently what it could possibly have been.

They left the American continent and caught a ship bound for what the vampire nation liked to refer to as the Old World. Europe was the very birthplace of their kind and most immortals preferred to remain here, on familiar soil. They paid for their passage like all the other passengers, only taking note of the human formality due to the very fragile sate of their mate. Being human she couldn't swim the ocean with them – yet.

They found a certain satisfaction in the inborn and instinctual fear all humans showed them, even disguised in dark glasses and human clothes. It was very entertaining. Edward liked to hunt using the lure, or what humans would call a thrall, releasing their natural scent, which they normally kept only for hunting or mating, the hapless humans would fall under their spell and do anything that was asked of them.

It was such harmless fun.

While they were on board they dined on several of the crew and passengers, silently dumping their bodies overboard.

Bella didn't stir for a few hours after they had boarded the ship. She awoke confused and discombobulated, staring around at the first class cabin in a dazed manner.

Memories resurfaced and she sought refuge in her lover's arms. But she brightened considerably when she was told that they were taking her to their home. Excitement filled her and the darkness was avoided for the time being.

Jasper and Edward however were excited for a different reason. Bella had successfully suppressed Charlotte. It was one of the break through's they had been waiting for. Along with the shared memories they were waiting to surface.

They allowed Bella free reign of the ship, escorting her anywhere she wished to go.

On the one occasion she was allowed to go to the pool by herself it hadn't ended so well.

She had been blissfully unaware of any scrutiny, lying on a sun lounger in a tiny yellow bikini. Her pale skin having already acquired a peachy, sun kissed glow from their week on board, her long dark hair falling in waves to her waist, for once free and unfettered. Hungry eyes surveyed her form, sliding over ripe curves with ardour.

Bella sighed and rose form the lounger to get a drink, once at the small island styled bar, she had ordered a fancy drink, thinking fondly of Edwards dark sense of humour. It spread a genuine smirk of amusement across her full lips.

A large, warm and abusive hand suddenly gripped her arm, spinning her around to face a middle-aged playboy type that made her stomach roll in disgust.

"Hey gorgeous, can I buy your drink?" He asked, while pulling her closer.

"No, thank you." Bella replied coldly, trying to pull her arm free.

"Come on babe, don't be like that. Give a guy a few minutes, please." He cajoled in a whining nasal voice.

Bella pulled at her arm again and cried out as he tightened his hold, fingers biting into her flesh cruelly.

"Let me go! My boyfriends wont take kindly to you treating me like this!" She said in a rush looking hopefully around for their familiar forms.

"Boyfriend's? Huh. You really think I'm gonna believe that?" He asked laughing loudly.

He pulled her along with him as he turned to leave, "Come, let's go and discuss this in private, little girl."

Bella struggled and sent pained looks at the guests and stewards who all eyed her pitifully, they obviously knew this man and weren't going to help her. Who was he?

He dragged her through a doorway and into an indoor walkway, pushing her against the wall he held her there with his large body while his hands began a hungry exploration of her breasts.

Just as his hand began a downward search, a soft noise made Bella blink over his shoulder and meet the eyes of her furious lovers'.

Jasper grabbed the unknown man by the scruff of the neck and threw him to the ground, while Edward took Bella into his arms, lifting as if she weighed nothing and placing her behind him.

"Are you okay, Bella dear?" He asked. At her nod, he turned his attention onto the hapless man.

"Why did you touch was isn't yours?" Jasper asked as he bent to lift the man above his head.

"I…I didn't know she was with anyone, man. Shit I'm sorry okay?" he stuttered.

Jasper pulled his fearful face as close as it would go and whispered, "Liar."

The man's expression changed at that single word.

"Its my right!" He whined. "This is my ship."

A smirk touched Jasper's mouth as he stated; "And this if my right as her mate." He then casually tore the man's index finger off… slowly, Jasper's hand clamped across his mouth to muffle his scream of agony.

"Lets take him else where Jasper, its too public here." Edward hissed.

Bella was lifted and quickly deposited in their cabin before her mate left her to join Jasper and complete their revenge. Bella tried not to dwell on the logistics of that revenge. Although she could all too clearly imagine what had happened.

After that they had followed her everywhere on the ship until they docked.

Far from minding, she loved it. And she now realised that she was rapidly falling in love with them both.

They travelled throughout the European countries at vampiric speed, Bella clutched to each of their chests, untroubled and now used to the mind numbing speed. The scent of their bodies pressed against hers was addictive and so delicious she didn't mind burrowing her face into their skin for long hours at a time.

The mating thrall was strong and she was oblivious.

After what seemed like days of travel they arrived at a castle, rising up on a hillock overlooking a valley of stunning beauty and depth. Its turrets reached hundreds of feet into the air. Ancient stonewalls rose to solid buttresses, grey and beautifully built. A small and winding road led to its massive gates.

Bella gasped and sat upright in Jasper's arms.

"What is it?" She asked eagerly as they stopped to gaze at the spectacular sight.

"Home." The vampires replied in unison.

Edward reached over and enveloped her and Jasper in his arms, chuckling as he said; "Welcome home, Isabella."

A/N; Yeah, and that happened. Next chapter up as soon as I can. Please review and tell me if you like where this is going? Love you all!
