With Riddick on her mind, the man she hid her death from, she could only imagine the smile, or any look of expression he would give when he saw her. She had joy inside her, she was ready for a long awaited fight, and on top of that, with Riddick, again, together like they should be. So many thoughts and possibilities ran through her mind as she ran down the long hallway, listening for the sounds of metal and people screaming. 'What would he say? Will he be mad, happy, upset? Why is he even here?' She thought to herself as she ran along the hallways listening for a sound.
"Riddick!" She heard a voice, that sounded familiar in a way, but she didn't think much of it, she ran towards a balcony where the voice came from, revealing Riddick hanging off the side, about to fall from an insane height, surely to his death, if he let go. She looked up to see a familiar face, Serene, the girl who she despised at once, but ended up becoming her only friend when times were hard, was holding the rope Riddick was holding on to.
"Riddick hold on!" She yelled at him, his head moved side to side looking for a place to land, or fall, but nothing, he tried climbing but his weight made Serene fall forward and almost drop the rope he grabbed on to. "I can't hold you by myself, Riddick" she struggled to say her words and keep herself from falling forward. Riddick looked up at her and back down at the long fall below, he couldn't risk her life, she was struggling to keep herself in one spot, and try to pull him up. He looked back up at her and gave a look. "No! No! Don't let go no, don't you let go Riddick!" She screamed grasping the rope tighter and trying to pull him up harder, her boots slipping with every step she took.
"Hold on!" Kyra screamed and jumped towards the balcony to try and help pull him up. Vaako was close behind her, trying to keep himself from falling. "Kyra?" Serene looked shocked, she couldn't believe she was seeing her friend for the first time in years, she had grown so big, her hair was cut, she wore tattered black clothes, and looked dirty. "But how..."
"No time to explain pull him up" Kyra yelled, grabbing the excess rope behind her and pulling with serene. "Is he almost up here?" She yelled her feet slipping under her as well. "Serene!" She yelled turning her head to see Vaako walk up and grab the rope with one hand and pull him up. She watched him pull him up and over the side of the balcony, "Are you okay?" Serene whispered, handing him his goggles which almost fell off the balcony as well. He looked at her and sighed.
"I'm fine, are you?" He asked grabbing the goggles and throwing them on his head, looking up at Serene, she had bruises and small cuts on her arms and face, but nothing serious, his eyes turned to a familiar face, Kyra. "You died?" He said, standing up looking at her, confused as to how she was still alive.
"Nice to see you too" she smirked at him, standing up. "I dont have time to explain, but I never died, I was just really hurt" she said. Riddick gave a small smile, he was upset she had faked a death for him, but happy to know she was still alive, and doing well. To him her appearence didn't change much, just that her clothes became tattered since he last saw her.
"Happy reunion needs to be over" Vaako said, jumping down to land next to them all. Serene turned around to see where Dame Vaako had gone, but she was no where in sight. "Where did she go?" She said turning in all directions, "Riddick split up, go that way, Kyra go with Vaako, I'll go this way" she said running down the hallway, hearing the others run off in other directions she paused. 'She's alive, and Riddick, he will want to be with her, want to save her, want her to come with to Furya' she thought to herself. Breathing heavily she closed her eyes, 'I'm just a tool for his personal pleasure' she thought to herself. Her breathing slowing to deep breaths, everything had grown silent, with the exception of a few necromongers running past her trying to escape.
"Furya, a planet on the edge of the system, forgotten, purged from the records, forever" she could hear whispers through the wall. She was outside the room where the Quasi-Deads were, she could hear their distress, their whispers of fear. "Furyan, a furyan survivor" it whispered. She turned her ear to the wall, as if the voice was talking to her. "Threshold, take them to the threshold"
"Threshold" she whispered herself, "what is the threshold?" She whispered, looking a round at the halls and balcony. "Vaako!" She said getting up and running down the long hallway to try to find where he had ran off to. 'He would know, he should know, he is a necromonger' she thought to herself, every step she took didn't seem like she was moving fast enough. She needed to find him before anything bad happened to any of them. Her steps seemed to echo in the now almost deserted tower she was runni through, she would pass a few necromongers, not paying attention to them she would run past them looking for him. She rounded a corner and ran right into Vaako, knocking him down and her falling on top of him. He pulled his small knife he had from her wrist but stopped before piercing it through her head.
"Serene! What are you doing!' She said pushing her off of him, she couldn't talk, her running put her out of breath and every time she tried to talk only large breaths and sighs came out. "Here sit up, we can't stay in the open" he said pulling her up and walking down the hallway to a door, with a small shove the door came open and revealed a small room with armor and swords. He pulled her into the room and sat her down. "What are you doing?" He said looking at her, her eyes silver in the darkened room, sweat rolled down her face and her breathing still heavy.
"The threshold" she said with a breath out. "What is the threshold?" She asked looking up at him, trying to catch her breath, the pain in her lungs was great and felt like she was breathing in nails.
"The threshold, the divide between our world and the Undervers" he said looking down at her, helpless in her trying to catch her breath.
"Where is it?" She said, her breath starting to calm and become more normal, "where is the threshold?" She asked looking up at him hopeing he would know.
"We have been searching for long, only our Lord Marshalls have been know to travel to. The Underverse is our promised land, and we would be promised this in due time. Almost like heaven to some" he said, "to get there would mean you would have to convert, and die in due time, which is impossible for us right now, why are you asking?" He said. She was collected and her breathing back to normal now.
"The threshold, the Underverse is where we need to travel to, so we can get to Furya." She said looking at him, "if I have to, to see this Underverse, I'll convert, I need to find Furya" she said looking down at her blade, blood dripped from the tip of it, still sharp, still able to use. "Sooner or later, we all have to head home" she said looking back up towards Vaako, who was now dropped to his knees face to face with her.
"I can take you there" he said, grabbing her head and pulling her in, kissing her lips. To her it seems the most inappropriate time for a kiss, but at the same time, if she died, it seemed like the most romantic thing that could happen to her, 'I just wish it was Riddick' she thought to herself, pulling away from him at the thought of it. "I can't" she said looking at him, he looked sad. "Riddick?" He asked her looking down at the ground, as if his entire plan had been shattered. "Always" she whispered kissing his forehead and standing up, "so, take me to the threshold" she smiled at him, opening the door, she was one step closer to getting home.
