So it's the new year and here's a new chapter. I have to admit that I'm not too into this one. There's too much drama going on at the age of six and it's too serious. But this chapter also establishes a storyline that's going to be happening in the future of the kids. Thank you to everyone who added this to their favorite stories and to the reviewer.
Aurawarrior13: Thanks for the reviews! Heh, I liked how you made that joke with Amy for Valentine's Day. I do hope you like this chapter since you like Knuxally. I'll let you read this. Let me know what you think.
Forgive me if this chapter isn't that strong. Like I said I don't really care for this chapter. So, without further ado, I present to you...In The Middle Of It.
Well, it's about that time again. School starts back in a week. But this semester is going to be crazy the way that things have gone the past week and a half. I fear that most of it will be filled with drama and fighting which is still crazy to me because we're only SIX YEARS OLD and in the FIRST GRADE! Like really. Who does that?
Of course I have to worry about Geoffrey and his sneaky ways, but I don't think that there will be much of a problem since a lot of the kids found out how fake he is. But the drama that I'm talking about isn't between Geoffrey and I. Nope, what's going on is between Sally and Sonia. Now this being between the girls you would think that I would have nothing to do with any of it. WRONG! I'm smack dab in the middle of it.
It all started on Christmas Day when all of us were together. All of us had decided to get together to exchange presents. Luckily for me, Geoffrey was out of town visiting family in Downunda so Sal was all mine this holiday. So there we were, all opening the gifts that we had gotten each other when Knuckles yelled out in joy.
"What are you yelling about, Knuckles?" Rotor asked.
"Look what Sally got me," Knuckles said as he held up a pair of new gloves to replace his old ones. And boy were they nice. They were red with green cuffs and had his initials in white on them. He quickly took off his old ones and replaced them with the new ones. He then continued to see what else was in the box and pulled out a picture frame that had a picture of Sally and Knuckles posing together on Angel Island. "Wow, thanks Sally. This is great."
"No problem Knuckles," Sally said as she squeezed Knuckles in a bear hug.
Bummer majores. This was not good. I looked to Sonia to see her fuming and about ready to throw Sally off of her boyfriend. Everyone else was silent and waiting to see what would happen. Knuckles was caught off guard as Sally continued to hug him and Sonia cleared her throat to get her attention. Sally sheepishly pulled away from Knuckles and moved back over towards me.
"Well now that that's over, let's see what Knuckie got me." Sonia said as she began unwrapping the present Knuckles got for her. As she pulled her present out of the box we all gasped in amazement. What Knuckles had gotten Sonia blew all of our presents out of the water.
Sonia's eyes glimmered as she looked at her present, a gold tiara studded with remnants of different colored diamonds and things. She turned the tiara over and over in her hands as Knuckles kneeled in front of her.
"A tiara?" Sonia asked as tears of joy threatened to come down her face. "But why?"
Knuckles took the tiara out of her hands and gently placed it on top of her head. "Because you, Sonia Hedgehog, are my princess." Sonia tackled Knuckles where he kneel and the grownups all sighed in gleeful happiness.
"They're so cute." I heard my mom whisper to Coach Locke.
"That's how we Echidna men do it." Coach Locke responded.
This was making me want to throw up. You would swear they were thirty and Knuckles just proposed to her the way they were carrying on. Just then I lost the feeling of my left hand. I looked at it to see Sally's hand squeezing it to a crumpled limb. I quickly jerked my hand away and jumped up. "Not cool, Sal! That hurt!" I yelled as tears began to stream down my face.
"Sonic, Baby, what's wrong?" Mom asked as she came running to me.
I held my left hand with my right hand as I went in to Mom's arms. "Sally squeezed my hand really hard and now it hurts. All I feel is pumping and heat."
"I'll go get some ice. I'll be right back, Honey." Dad said as he rushed to go get an ice pack.
Mr. Acorn went over to Sally and knelt in from of her. "Sally, why did you squeeze Sonic's hand?"
"I didn't mean to. I honestly didn't know I was doing it. I'm sorry Sonic." Sally apologized.
"How did you not know you were doing it?" I asked, still a little upset.
"I was thinking about something. It's not important. I'm really sorry."
"Okay, I forgive you. But don't let it happen again."
Dad finally came back with the ice pack and put it on my hand to get the throbbing feeling to go away. I had to find out what was going on with Sal. I've never known her to be so aggressive. And when I looked at her while she was squeezing my hand she looked so angry. Almost like Sonia…
"Yo Sal, come here." I said as I walked away from everyone else.
"Sonic, I already apologized," She said when we reached me. "I don't know what else you want me to do."
"I want you to tell me what you were thinking about because I have a feeling I know what it is and if it's that then it isn't good."
Sally looked around nervously, scratching the back of her head and twisting her right foot on her toe. "It was nothing, Sonic."
I held up my injured hand to her. "Does this look like nothing? Come on Sally. I know you. Whenever you're nervous you scratch your head and twist your right foot. Just tell me. You know you can talk to me about anything."
She gave a defeated sigh and looked at me with the most serious face. "I don't think that Knuckles should be with Sonia. He should be with me."
We heard a gasp and turned around to see Sonia looking at Sally, hurt registering on her face before fury came over. "You think what?!"
The other kids came running over to see what was happening and Sally began to back up towards where the adults were sitting. She ran over to her dad and began to sneeze purposely. "Daddy, I don't feel so good. Can we go home?"
"Sure, Sally. I'm afraid we'll have to leave, but I hope to see everyone again soon before school starts back up. Goodbye. And have a Merry Christmas." Mr. Acorn said as he picked Sally up and walked out.
After Sally left everyone else began to leave until it was just us at our house. I went to find Sonia and check up on her. I found her sitting in her room looking at herself in a mirror and messing with her tiara.
"There's no need to keep messing with that thing. It won't fall off of that big head of yours." I said as I flopped onto her bed.
She came over and sat at the edge of the bed with a look of sadness on her face. "What would cause Sally to say something like that? I thought we were friends."
"I honestly can't tell you," I responded. "I do remember one time around Valentine's Day, Knuckles told me that Sally liked him. Maybe she still feels the same way."
"Yeah, but he's my boyfriend. If she wanted him then she should have pursued him."
"Look Sonia, I don't know what exactly to say. I have no idea how these situations go. I'm six and so are the rest of you. Well except for Knuckles and Tails, but you get the gist. You're too young for this. It's too much drama. I don't know how you guys can think about these things and go through this kind of stuff at such a young age. How you have these feelings. It just doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever."
"I wouldn't expect you to understand. You're too immature and you have yet to experience any romantic feelings whatsoever." Well actually… "And chili dogs don't count. Just get out of my room. You're no help."
I shrugged my shoulders and walked out of the room. She was right, I am no help. And that is for the simple reason that I just don't understand those feelings at such a young age.
And so a week went by and New Year's came along. We all had gotten together after Sally had gotten over her "cold". I just hoped that this get together would be better than the last.
Unfortunately we weren't able to stay up until midnight, but we got to stay up until nine. That was our midnight and when the clock struck nine we would go crazy with cheering and everything. At the moment we had a few minutes until the New Year showed up so we all gathered in our living room to count down.
"10!" Bunnie started.
"9!" Antoine continued.
"8!" Rotor yelled.
"7!" Dulcy exclaimed.
"6!" Manic yelled.
"5!" Amy screamed, jumping up and down. Someone has had a little too much drape juice.
"4!" Knuckles yelled.
"3!" Sonia piped up, slipping her hand into Knuckles's hand.
"2!" Sally yelled, moving closer to Knuckles.
"1!" I screeched at the top of my voice.
The clock struck and we went wild. I got into my spin dash form and spun around the room popping streamers and blowing confetti in the air. The parents all laughed as they saw us having fun. I ran over to Amy and grabbed her hands and spun around the room with her. "Happy New Year, Amy."
"Happy New Year, Sonic!" She exclaimed while hugging me.
As she hugged me I saw Sonia and Sally glaring at each other while Knuckles tried to calm both of them down. I slipped out of Amy's grasp and went over to see what was going on.
"Okay, what happened now?" I asked as I made my way over.
"Sally kissed Knuckles on the cheek!" Sonia responded.
"Well, where would you have liked me to kiss him? On the lips?" Sally asked.
"You shouldn't be kissing anyone, young lady." We turned around to see Mr. Acorn, Coach Locke, and my parents standing behind us. Mr. Acorn looked very upset and grabbed Sally's hand and led her away from the group.
"Somebody better start explaining right now." Dad said with anger in his voice.
"Sally started it!" Sonia yelled as she burst into tears.
"And what is it exactly that she started?" Coach Locke asked.
Knuckles was frozen in fear and Sonia was still crying so it was up to me to explain the situation. So I did. I told them exactly what had happened from the Christmas party to now. As I did, I saw Sally looking at me with disbelief from the corner of my eye. After I got done, Mom, Dad, and Coach Locke took Knuckles and Sonia aside and spoke to them privately. Sonia wouldn't stop crying and Knuckles looked hurt beyond belief.
I went over to see what our parents had said to them when Sonia lashed out at me.
"Gosh, Sonic! Did you really have to tell them everything?" Sonia yelled. "Now, because of you and that wannabe girlfriend Sally, Knuckles and I have to wait until we're older to actually be boyfriend and girlfriend!"
"Sonia, I wasn't trying to cause this to happen. I was just –"
"You weren't doing anything but butting in people's business as always. Just stay out of my life! You don't know anything!" Sonia yelled as she ran to her room crying.
I stood in the middle of the party watching her as she left. She wants me out of her life…she doesn't want me as a brother anymore. All because of a stupid thing like this that they were too young to understand themselves. Well fine, I don't need to butt in peoples' business? I won't. You won't catch me in the middle of anything anymore.
I just want to say that after this next chapter I'm going back to the way that things were with fun and everything. I can't have them being so serious while they're in first grade and only six years old. But it won't be just random oneshots. It'll still be sticking to the story, but I'll make sure not to make it so serious. I also do not hate Sally Acorn. She's one of my favorite Sonic characters. I was getting to close to the cliche FanFiction Sally Acorn. Again, sorry for the weak chapter. Let me know YOUR thoughts on it in the reviews! I'll catch y'all next time and again HAPPY NEW YEAR! Be breezy! CHAOS CONTROL!
