Case 2: Secrets in an Angel's Eyes

Part 1: Detectives Darkest Hour

A Week after Freeing the Mew Mew's Alien Friends at Café A la Mode…

"Here's your order," Kish said dressed in a guy's uniform with a red bow tie on his ears hidden by his hair. "Three peach teas, one order of chocolate cookies, one slice of strawberry cheesecake, and one taro tart." "Thank you," The three girls at the table said with dreamy voices. Kish merely smiled and walked off to help his brothers. Pie and Tart was wearing the same uniform as their brother, only Pie had a green bow tie on and Tart had a yellow/ orange bow tie. (A/N: Can any of you guess why? ;) ) "Pie," Wesley called from the kitchen. "I have table six's order done." "Okay," the eldest alien said as he grabbed the tray.

"When is everyone else going to come out of school?" Tart asked from his spot next to Elliot. "They will be here a little passed three," the blonde teen told him. "Valerie is going to get the eternals when she's done with her other job; and then they will get the mew mews." "What is her other job anyway?" Kish asked. "Oh that's right," Wesley said. "None of you know. Valerie is a free-lance detective for Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department." "What?!" The three brothers shouted. "Be quiet," Elliot said. "You'll scare the customers." The three grumbled but did as they were told.

Wesley sighed at the scene before him. What children, he thought with a small laugh; one that faded when he looked out the window. I just hope they don't run in the rain.

Meanwhile with Valerie and Chibi Chibi…

"See you all tomorrow!" Valerie called out as she ran out the door with a black umbrella in hand. Today Valerie was dressed in a white dress shirt, black dress pants, and black boots with her hair in a neat bun. "See you tomorrow Holmes," Inspector Armstrong said watching her run off. "Sheryl is really working hard," Detective Baldwin said. "I wonder why?" "Maybe because she wants to prove herself as a detective," Detective Drake suggested. "If that were true," Officer Bloom said. "Then why would she be looking through all the unsolved cases we have?" "Sherlock's been looking into our unsolved cases?" Detective Dangerfield asked. "Why?" "That's a good question," Officer Edmead said. "When Holmes is ready to tell us, then she will," Armstrong said. "Now all of you get ready for anything. This world is full of surprizes; you never know what's going to happen next." Inspector Armstrong didn't know how right he was.

Outside of the Zoey and Mark's School…

"When is Valerie going to get here?" Corina asked a blue umbrella in over her head. "This is the only place ALL of us pass on our way to the café." "She's coming!" Raf called out from above them. So that they could see when Valerie would be coming from her other job their eternals where in their angelic and diabolic forms; and so they wouldn't get wet from the rain. "Good," Gas said. "'Cuz I got a riddle she will never solve!" Lately Gas has been trying to prove that Valerie isn't all that smart. So he came up with riddles to prove it. Most of them involved Japanese hints; and surprisingly all where a little difficult for the others.

"Sorry I'm late guys!" The raven haired mew shouted as she ran up to them. "About time you got here," Kabale said. "We want to hear Gas' new riddle for you." "Another one," the kitty bunny sighed. "Give it up Gas. You'll never out smart me." "We'll see about that," the fat devil said. "Here's my riddle! When Misha was asked what she thought about Gabe, she simply looked to the moon and said 'He's like the summer.' So my question for you is: did Misha insult Gabe or did she give him a compliment?" The group fell quite as they tried to figure out Gas' riddle.

Summer, Valerie thought before smiling. "I got it!" The new mew said happily. "She was insulting him!" "Huh?" The group said looking at her confused. "How did you come up with that?" Zoey asked. "Six, Seven, and Eight are the months of summer in Japanese they form a phrase. It says 'there is nothing good about him,'" Valerie explained smiling. "Darn," Gas said. "I didn't think you get that one." "Also," the kitty bunny said. "Sulfus is the only devil that would give a compliment to an angel and that angel can only be Raf." "Hey!" Misha exclaimed. "What are you saying?! That we devils can't be nice to the angels unless we love them!?" Valerie looked directly into her eyes and said, "Yes." This lead to the group burst out in laughter.

"Hey!" Kiki said. "Let's hurry and cross, na no do!" Most of the group was about to cross when someone from behind them shouted out, "Stop right there!" The group turned around to see a middle aged man with a brown hair, a buzz cut, lightly tanned skin, and chocolate brown eyes wearing a black suit and deep red colored tie. "A blinking red light is the same as a yellow light," the man told them. "So just wait until the next light and then cross." The man said nothing after that and walked off to a near-by phone booth. "Great we got yelled at," Bridget said lowering her green umbrella closer to her head. "Yeah; but he was right," Corina said. "We shouldn't have crossed." Turning her head to the man that just scolded her friends, Valerie saw him writing down a note while listening to the phone. The notebook, she thought seeing it was side-ways before smiling.

"Now I have a riddle for all of you," Valerie said getting the group's attention. "What do you think that man's job is?" The kitty bunny asked them pointing at the man in the phone booth. The group looked at him and thought for a bit. "He's wearing a suit," Kabale said. "So maybe a business man?" "But he doesn't have a suit case," Sweet pointed out. "A teacher maybe?" Uri said. "But they don't leave until way later than us," Mark said. "So what is he, Valerie?" Raf asked her charge. "He's a detective," Valerie said with a smile. "Huh?" Gabe said. "How do you know that? Do you work with him?" "No," Valerie said shaking her head. "When a detective needs to make an important note about something they rotate their notebook to keep them organized." "Wow," Miki said. "You're so smart Valerie." "Yeah," Cabiria said. "No wonder you can solve all of Gas' riddles." "I will make a riddle she can't solve!" Gas declared, pumping his fist into the air to emphasize his point.

The group merely laughed at him when Terence looked up. "The light's green now," he said. "We can cross." While the group of friends headed off to work they didn't notice a stranger in a full body rain coat holding an umbrella walking behind them only to stop in front of the phone booth the detective was in. When they were almost across the street Valerie heard a soft bang noise behind her. Turning around her blood ran cold at what she saw. The mysterious figure stood in front of the detective who was now doubling over in pain! "He shot the detective!" She cried out as the others turned to see what was wrong.

"Call the police!" The raven haired mew called out as she tried to run back across the street. A passing car stopped her, and she quickly dashed to an overpass walk way (A/N: Does anyone know what those are called?) to catch the culprit who was currently running away. The kitty bunny ran as fast as she could, but by the time she made it across the criminal got away. Glaring down the street he ran down she turned away and headed back to the injured detective.

"You need to stay calm," Valerie said kneeling next the wounded detective. "Help is on the way." The detective looked at her with a pained look and then grasped at his chest with his right hand with short, pained filled grunts and gasps. It lasted only a second when he let go and his hand fell lifelessly on the ground. Dead. The others rushed over and humans and eternals alike gasped at the sight of the dead detective before them. No one said a word as Valerie stood there next to the detective's body. Unable to speak; as if she was trying to grasp at the reality that was in front of her.

Later That Day…

"We have called you all here to discuss what had happened earlier today," Inspector Armstrong said to the mew mews who was sitting across from him, Detective Baldwin, Detective Drake, Officer Bloom, Detective Dangerfield, and Officer Edmead. Zoey and Mark went to the café to tell the others what happened. The eternals hovered next to their charges worried about how they must have felt seeing the detective shot before them. However the most concerned were Raf and Sulfus, Valerie hasn't spoken since the incident and it only worried the group.

"Now can you tell us what the culprit looked like?" Inspector Armstrong asked. "I think it was a young man," Bridget said. "It wasn't a man it was," Corina said. "It was a young woman." "I believe it was an elderly woman," Renée said. "But I thought the attacker was a middle aged man, na no da," Kiki said. "Okay," Dangerfield said sweat dropping.

"Do you have any idea what color rain coat or umbrella the culprit was wearing?" Edmead asked. "I'm sure the coat was black and the umbrella was dark blue," the green mew said. "Wasn't the umbrella red?" the bird mew asked. "And I thought the coat was brown," the youngest mew said. "I don't think you girls really know what you saw," a new voice said." The group turned to the door to see a middle aged man with black hair pulled into a mullet with almost dangerous green eyes wearing a dark gray suit with a blue tie. "And you are?" Renée asked raising an eye brow. "I am Assistant Inspector Aoyama Gosho," the man said fixing his tie. (A/N: I'm going to write their names with the last name first from now on.) "I'm from the 3rd division Investigative Unit. The detective that died, Yanagiba Yousuke (43), was one of my men." "Huh?" Kiki said tilting her head to the side.

"There are multiple divisions in a police department," Valerie explained speaking for the first time since the incident. "Inspector Armstrong's group is part of the 1st division. We're the division's Investigative Unit." "Then why is he here?" Corina asked, pointing at the Assistant Inspector. "Being the 1st division, shouldn't you guys have priority in this case?" "Not really," the raven haired mew said. "In a case like this, when a member of the force has been attacked or injured, all members, even if not part of the Investigative Units, will pull together and do everything in their power to find the one responsible." "Wow," The group said, even though the normal humans couldn't hear the eternals. "One of the great things about Japan is the sense of community," Valerie said with a ghost of a smile on her face.

Turning to them with a more serious face she said, "Back to the case. From what I saw, the umbrella and raincoat were a dark gray color; but I couldn't see the person's gender. I do know that shot the gun with their left hand." "How do you know that?" Aoyama asked. "The shooter was holding the umbrella with their right hand," she explained. "That means that our killer had to have shot the detective with their left hand; making our killer a south paw." "South Paw?" Sweet asked. "That's another term for being left handed," Gabe explained.

"Thank you for your time," Armstrong said. "We will call you if we have any more questions." "Thank you Inspector Armstrong," Valerie said. "Call me if you need any more help." "Of 'course," Armstrong said. "See you tomorrow Holmes." "Bye," she said with a small wave.

Once the group was gone Inspector Armstrong turned to the rest of the group. "I believe we shouldn't let Holmes get too involved with this case," he said. "Why?" Drake asked. Baldwin whispered something to him and his eyes widened in shock. "I see," Drake said in a sad tone. "Let the most delicate details of this case hidden from Holmes," Armstrong said. "What she doesn't know won't hurt her."

A Few Days Later…

A young man walked down a darken parking structure to his car only to stop dead in his tracks at the sight of a middle aged man with scruffy light brown hair wearing a brown-gray suit lying dead on the floor. His notebook held lightly in his right hand…

The Next Day…

"Inspector," Valerie said walking up to her other boss. Today she was wearing a black and white pin-striped dress that reached half-way up her upper thigh. "What can you tell me about the latest death in the case?" She asked, getting right to the point. "The victim was Sagara Sanosuke," the heavy man said. "Age 45; a detective from the 5th division Investigative Unit. (*reaches for a file behind him*) Here are some pictures from the crime screen, and the updated version of the report. Can you, please, look over them and see if you can find anything new?" "Of' Course," the raven haired mew said grabbing the file. "But isn't there something else you would want me to do?" "No," Inspector Armstrong said not facing her. "Look over the report and pictures then report back to me." Valerie didn't say anything back; the Inspector's tone told her he didn't want her to ask any more questions and leave. "I understand sir," the kitty bunny said as she walked away with the file under her arm.

Once she was gone Bloom walked up to the Inspector. "Inspector Armstrong," the officer started, but was quieted by a hand shot up from the said Inspector. "I'm sorry Kaoru," Armstrong said. "But I really can't deal with it today." "She's going to find out," Office Bloom said. "And the longer we keep her out of what happened, the longer someone else may die because of it." The female office didn't give the Inspector a chance to answer her before she walked away. I can only hope that we won't need to lean on Holmes for this, Armstrong thought. Too many people are already involved too deeply in this case. I can't let a child get in any deeper than she already is. (*sigh*) Even more so with how she handles thing…

~Flashback, Inspector Armstrong's POV ~

Oh boy today is a hot one; I thought wiping sweat off my forehead. I'm sure my team isn't too happy about going to a museum murder case. Earlier that day my team had been given a case about a murder at an art museum. This particular museum have been getting a lot of attention because of some rumours about a suit of armour somehow moving on it's own at night! And their only witness was a teenager who went to the museum to get a job. "What was a teenager doing outside of school?" I muttered quietly.

A Few Minutes Later…

"Man," Drake whistled. "What a flashy murder." "I'll say," Baldwin said looking at the body in disgust. "Impaled in the throat with a sword." Both Detective Baldwin and Officer Bloom where staying away from Detective Drake for some reason, and all three of them refused to talk about it. "Luckily the security cameras got the whole thing on tape," a female voice said from behind the group. The group turned to see a young girl with long raven black hair wearing a red and black stripped dress shirt, a black pencil skirt, and black ankle strapped heels; but the most striking part of this mysterious girl was her eyes. A deep shade of blue that seemed to suck you into an oblivion of a mysterious darkness. All who saw them seem to be hypnotized by a strange power they admitted. Only stopping when she turned around and started to walk to the video room. "Are you coming or what?" She asked, not once turning back. My team and I turned to each other and quickly followed the girl to the video room.

Once everyone was inside the caretaker of the museum, an elderly man with blading gray hair wearing a dark gray suit and pale blue tie by the name of Moto Samuel (85), started the video. "Okay," I said. "The victim, owner of the museum 57 year old Wilde Gru, seems to be waiting for someone." "This killer must be an idiot," Dangerfield said. "Doesn't he know he's being ta-" The young detective stopped midsentence at the sight before them. The suit of armour behind the victim started to move on its own attacking the victim from behind! In a panic the victim grabbed something from behind him and did something quickly before once again being grabbed by his attacker and impaled with the sword.

We looked away in disgust. "One thrust in the throat with a sword," I said. "Talk about a showy murder." "At least we know Wilde-san was killed at 1:25," Officer Bloom said, trying to look at the bright side. "This guy is pretty gutsy," Baldwin said as she walked passed Drake without giving him so much as a glance. "Someone could have walked in on him at any time." "In any normal case you'd be right," the mystery girl said. "But when I past the Chamber of Hades at 1:00 there was a sign that said that the room was off-limits; and then at 1:30 when I came back here the sign was gone." Not saying another word she walked up to the controls. "Officer," she said to Officer Edmead. "Can you please rewind and pause when I say so?" "O-okay," Edmead said turning back to the controls and started to rewind the footage. "Now," she said suddenly. The footage paused at the scene where the killer was walking away from the victim. "I knew something looked familiar in the footage," she said with a grin. "This scene looks just like a painting that is right across from the victim!" "Are you sure?" I asked taking a peak at the screen. "Completely," she said. "The painting is called 'Heaven's Punishment,' which shows a righteous knight that has killed a devil."

"So this could be a symbolic killing?" Detective Drake pondered. "If that's true, then it would make sense to kill Wilde-san," a museum intern said getting everyone's attention. "When the museum was in financial trouble he told us if we sold the museum to him he would keep it open. However, the second he got his hands on the deed he started talking about turning the museum into a casino." The group fell silent at the news. None of us noticed the raven haired girl walking passed us and to the controls.

"Now isn't that weird," she suddenly said. "The victim seems to be writing something." That got the group's attention. "Look," she said. "When his killer had his back turned, Wilde-san grabbed the tag on the wall and wrote something down." She played the video in slow-motion to show what she meant. "He threw the pen away, but the paper should still be in his hands!" "Drake!" I called out. "Stop the coroner from taking the body!" "Yes sir!" The shy detective said as he ran out to try to stop the coroner.

Once we made sure the body was still at the museum, I checked the victim's hand. "Good the paper is still in his hand," I said prying it out. "It says, 'Matsuda.'" "Matsuda?" the mysterious girl asked. "As in Maaka Matsuda! The museum assistant curator!" A man looking somewhere in between a middle-aged man and an elderly man with peppery black and white hair wearing a plain brown suit with a gray tie twitched from behind Detective Baldwin. "I presume this 'Matsuda' is him?" Officer Bloom asked pointing at the guy behind Baldwin. "You got that right," the raven haired girl said as Baldwin tackled the guy who was running away.

"It wasn't me!" Matsuda shouted as Baldwin handcuffed him. "If you're innocent," the mysterious girl said. "Then why did you run?" "Because this chick attacked me!" He shouted, only to be smacked upside the head by the mysterious girl. "That is a woman," she said. "Something you clearly never met before in your life." That got tons of laughs. "Another thing," she said once the laughter died down. "Only the guilty and the stupid run from an officer." We all once again laughed at her comment. "With this evidence and the motive we got from another worker at the museum," Dangerfield said as the laughter ceased. "We can prove it was you who killed Wilde-san."

"No you can't," the mysterious girl said before I could. "You're going to need more evidence to prove it was him, and not someone trying to frame him." The room fell silent at the teen's logic. "However," she said getting everyone's attention. "You can charge him for stealing priceless art, and selling it illegally. As well as those who bought the stolen art. You may be able to catch, and charge, a group for that; but you can't charge this man for murder without further evidence." How did she know that? I wondered, trying not to laugh at the shocked faces of my team. "So we can do something bigger then murder?" Drake asked. "But we can't prove this man is a murderer?"

"Bingo," the teen said walking away from the group. "Inspector!" She called out. "I believe I found the pen the victim threw earlier!" I walked up to the girl to indeed find a fountain pen on the ground. Picking it up, I clicked the top and scribbled something in my notebook. "The color and thickness of the line matches the lines from the note we found," I said. "This was the pen used during the murder." "Inspector!" One of the first responders called running towards me. "We found this armour in Matsuda's locker!" I took one look at the bloody armour and instantly turned to Matsuda. "Now where were you at the time of the murder?" I asked. "I was in my office doing some paper work," he said weakly. "So," Dangerfield said. "No witnesses." "Wait!" The museum assistant curator cried. "I was told to do it by Moto-san!" "That's true," the museum curator said. "But I cannot say for certain that Matsuda-san was in his office the entire time." "Now that's evidence against you," Baldwin said turning to him. Clearly still angry at him for calling her a 'chick.'

"What a waste," Drake said. "To have such a fine piece of history ruined." "Then it's a good thing this is only a replica," an intern said. "We should also be fortunate that no other works were damaged," another intern said. No artwork was damaged? I thought. But Matsuda-san doesn't seem to really care about artwork. Turning to the mysterious girl to get her two cents about all this I found her gone. Now where did she go? I thought as my men took Matsuda away.

"Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

We all turned to see the raven haired teen running around with a jumping around with a pad of paper in front of her lower regions. "Gotta pee!" She shouted. "Gotta pee! Gotta pee!" With her face b right red she ran to Moto-san. "Moto-san!" She cried. "Where's the restroom!?" "Why it's near the Hall of Angels," the elderly man said. "You go down that hallway, turn right, pass the-" "I can't remember all that!" She shouted, as she held out her pad of paper. "Please write it down for me!" "Very well then," he said grabbing a pen. "Now you-" He started, but suddenly stopped the pen in his hand hovering about an inch above the paper.

"What's wrong?" The mysterious girl asked innocently. "Why aren't you writing anything down? (*looks like she's thinking about something, suddenly "LIGHTBULB!"*) Oh, I get it. You already knew that pen couldn't write before you even wrote anything down. Now why would you carry a pen that doesn't write? You're funny mister." Innocent my fat ass. "Wait a minute," Dangerfield said. "You think that Moto-san is the killer?" "Bingo," she said. "But the pen found at the scene has ink," Drake pointed out. "But remember the point of that pen was retracted," she reminded us. "Now tell me why would someone who was just about to be killed take the time to retract a pen? Answer: no one would."

"Well then, Moto-san," I said. "Where were you at 1:25?" The elderly man stood there for a second before say, "I was here hiding in the suit of armour waiting for that devil of an owner." A group of collective gasps came from the museum employees. "I wanted to give him what he deserved," he explained. "This is a place of beauty and history. Such a man did not have the right to destroy this museum and turning it into a casino. (*turns to Matsuda*) And I wanted to teach Matsuda-san, who stole artwork and sold it for his own personal gain, a lesson as well. (*lowers his head while Officer Bloom sadly handcuffed him*) I'm almost glad I was stopped at the hands of a young detective." With that said Moto-san willing let himself get taken away with Matsuda-san to the station.

A Little While Later…

"So the rumours about the night watch seeing the suit of armour walking wasn't a lie," Drake said. "What they saw was Moto-san doing trial runs of his attack." "I guess you're not the only one who doesn't know when to go somewhere," Bloom said. "Okay," Edmead said getting their attention. "Why are you two being so cold to Drake?" "We will not say," Bloom and Baldwin said crossing their arms. "Oh for the love of-" The mystery girl started. "Come here," she said grabbing Drake's arm and closed her eyes.

She stood there for about a minute; and then she suddenly let go. Without saying a word, she walked up to Dangerfield and slugged him square in the jaw! Dangerfield fell on his ass and stared at the girl in shock. "That's for telling that nice detective over their (*jerks her thumb at Drake*) to go get the women here," she said, her voiced an eerie calm. "Even though YOU KNEW THEY WERE CHANGING!"

We blinked at her for a minute. "Wait," Baldwin said. "WE told Dangerfield that we didn't want to be walked in on." "Are you saying that he specifically told Drake to come get us!?" Bloom snapped. "Yeah that's right," the raven haired girl said smiling at the two. The girls looked at Dangerfield with venom in their eyes. "Wait!" Dangerfield cried out as the two walked towards him. "How would she know?! She wasn't there!" "How did you know?" I finally asked walking up to her. "He told me," she said jerking her thumb to Drake. "Not directly, but when I touch someone, or something for that matter, I can see what happens to them; what they did; or (if you're talking about an object) the memories they carry. When I grabbed his arm, I saw Dangerfield-san tell him to get the girls and then Drake-san walking in on the girls changing. By the way, you two have a great figure." The girls blushed, and then started to beat up Dangerfield.

"That's amazing," Edmead said. "Have you ever thought about working for the force?" "I want to spend my life protecting people," she said. "But because of my age I can't really work for the force." "How old are you?" I asked. "18," she said. "18!" Dangerfield cried. "What are you doing outside of school; and what about your parents!?" "I've finished my college courses by age 10," she said. "And I never knew my parents. They abandoned me at a young age." We fell quite at that news. I guess she doesn't really have a place anywhere to call her own, I realized. From the looks of my team's faces, they've realized it to.

"Time to go! Time to go!"

Wait. WHAT IS THAT!?

Out of nowhere a small black, fluffy bat winged creature appeared. "Is it already time?" The mysterious girl asked. "Well, can't be late." "Late for what?" Bloom asked. "My job," she said. "I have a job a local café. It pays well, but I don't want to sponge off my friends forever. So I'm looking for another job so I can save up money and move out." "Then I hope to see you tomorrow," I said walking to my car. "Huh?" She said turning to me. "After what I saw today," I started. "I think we could use a girl like you on our side." "Really!?" She asked happily. "Thank you SO much! (*face lowers for a moment, but I don't really notice*) My name is Sheryl; Sheryl Lockette Holmes." "Well then Holmes," I said grinning. I never thought I'd say that. "See you tomorrow." "See you all tomorrow!" Holmes called out as she ran down the road to her other job.

~Flashback End, 3rd POV~

She hasn't changed much since we first met, Armstrong thought smiling. He sighed and looked out the window with a slight frown on his face. I just hope nothing happens tonight, he thought.

That Night…

"Whoa," Gas said dressed in the same suit he wore for the Japan's Animal Rights Foundation fundraiser with his jaw hanging open. "This is where we're spending our night?" Gas, along with Raf, Sulfus, Uri, Kabale, Sweet, Cabiria, Miki, Terence, Misha, Gabe, Scarlett, Corina, Bridget, Kiki, Zoey, Mark, Wesley, Elliot, and Valerie (A/N: They were also wearing what they wore for the fundraiser before) stood in front of The Peninsula Tokyo near the shopping area of Ginza. "The Police Commissioner's daughter is having her before wedding party here," Valerie explained. "I feel bad for her. Because she and her husband chose the date beforehand they couldn't change it." "And because she's the Commissioner's daughter," Terence started. "There are going to be a lot of cops here," Misha finished. "Talk about bad timing," Cabiria said. "Yeah," Kabale said. "Sucks to be her." The angels and Mews gave her a 'really' look, while the devils just smiled at her. "I can't believe that Renée couldn't make it," Gabe said. "At least she didn't need us to go with her to that photo shot," Misha said smiling. "I've come to party!" With that she led the group into the hotel.

As the group made their way up to their floor, Sweet asked, "So what kind of man is the groom?" "He's the son of a major car company," Valerie explained. "His name is Akadzutsumi Hojo." "Akadzutsumi?" Corina asked. "As in the Akadzutsumi Inc. Japan's leader in auto mobiles, game systems, medicine, electronics, and all the latest advancements in computer software; that Akadzutsumi!?" "I'm going to go on a limb here and say you know them?" Sulfus said. Sarcasm, he thought. You got to love it. "His father hangs out with my father," the bird mew said simply as the elevator dinged signalling that they have arrived at their desired floor.

"Hold on," Valerie said as she walked to the reception desk with Raf. "We'd like to leave our bags here," the mew leader said. "Of' course," the receptionist said in super cheery voice that even got the angel's nerves. Once she got her tag Valerie looked into the hallway next to the reception desk and saw the restrooms and a space where umbrellas could be placed and saw a closed up clear umbrella. "Come on Sheryl," Kabale said. "The party awaits." The raven haired mew didn't hesitate as she followed the devil into the party hall.

"Oghf," Valerie and Kabale said as they ran into the others. "What the hell guys?" Valerie asked as she straightened herself up. "Whoa," Kabale said as she looked at the party room. The mew leader took one look at the room and instantly saw why. The room was large and rectangular shaped; the walls where a golden color; large windows that reach from the ceiling to the floor; shimmery gold curtains hung at their sides; small crystalline chandeliers lined the ceiling like a frame as a large chandelier hung dead center with two medium chandeliers at its sides; the floor was covered with carpet with a royal design of gold, silver, bronze, and pure white; and was filled with people in suits. "This place is awesome," Cabiria said.

"You can certainly spot all the police officers in the room," a male voice said from behind them. "Dangerfield," Valerie said as she saw the team she worked with standing behind them. "They all have a dark look in their eyes," he explained. "Nice to officially meet your friends Holmes." "Glad you could come Sheryl," Baldwin said in a nice green dress. "Now," Bloom said with a teasing voice. "Aren't you going to introduce us to your friends?" "Of' course," the kitty bunny said. "Guys, this is Officer Bloom Kaoru, Detective Baldwin Maria, Detective Drake Hiou, Officer Edmead Sahgan, Inspector Armstrong Juan, and Detecitve Dangerfield Hikami." "Nice to meet all of you" Drake said with a soft bow. "Likewise," Terence said. "Guys," Valerie said facing the officers. "This is Raf, Sulfus, Uri, Cabiria, Bridget, Sweet, Kabale, Corina, Miki, Gas, Kiki, Terence, Scarlett, Gabe, Misha, Elliot, Wesley, Zoey, and Mark; I work with them at Café A la Mode." "Nice to see you again," Raf said giving a soft bow. "The pleasure is all ours," Dangerfield said suductfully. Sulfus glared at him as he put his arm around Raf's waist and held her close. His eyes clearly stated 'she's mine. Touch her and die.' Valerie, Scarlett, and Terence gave him a disapproving look, but let him live. Raf would hate me forever if I killed him, Valerie and Terence realized as the officers parted ways and enjoy themselves.

The lights suddenly went out and a male voice called out, "and now presenting the bride and groom! Let's hear it for the lovely couple!" A spot came down on a lovely young woman with shimmery chestnut hair held back in a French braided bun with a translucent white vial with white roses bunch to the right came down to the small of her back, pale skin that seemed to glow, lips that seemed to be dyed in blood, and lager innocent hazel eyes dressed in a magical strapless, sleeveless white floral dress that reached to the floor with a translucent silvery floral cloak the covered her chest and arms that flowed behind her like snow blowing in the wind and a white rose pendent hanging on a white silk ribbon holding a bouquet of white roses with a dashing young man white shoulder long ebon black hair tied back wearing a white button up dress shirt, black vet, black tie, and a black pin-striped jacket (a white handkerchief in the outer breast pocket) with matching slacks and black dress shoes.

After a few kind words from the bride and groom to each other (and the devils gagging quietly), Valerie and the other girls went to talk to the bride. "Nice to finally meet you, Holmes," the bride said. "I'm Miyazaki Ayako, soon to be Akadzutsumi Ayako." "The pleasure is all mine Miyazaki-san," the raven haired mew said. "Please, call me Ayako," she said happily. "Very well Ayako-san," the free-lance detective said. Guess she's not going to drop the 'san,' the young bride thought sweat dropping. "Okay," Miki said. "I've got to know. Did Akadzutsumi-san do anything special when he proposed?" "I," she started. "Hmm," the angels and mews said closing in around her. "I can't say," she finally said looking away with a blushing face. "If you tell us," Kabale said. "We'll get Sheryl to drop the 'san,'" Cabiria finished. Miyazaki-san looked at Valerie for a second to confirm she would do it. The kitty bunny nodded, she also wanting to know what he did. "He-he told me he loved me," the bride finally said. "More than anyone he ever met." "Aw," the girls (minus the devils) said, each thinking about that one guy telling them that. "You're so lucky Ayako-chan," Valerie said. "I think you snagged the last wonderful man left." "You'll find your own love someday," Ayako told her. "I already have one," the young detective said with a wink.

After that the group enjoyed the party for a while, until…

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?"

Everyone turned to see a man in a casual blue-black business suit with a dark blue tie and black dress shoes standing next to a teenager with long spiky purple hair dressed in a black short sleeve shirt with red, blue, and white graphics, baggy black cargo pants, black doc martens, and a black spiked choker. The punk had a cigarette in his mouth with a guitar next to him. "I thought I made it clear you are not welcome here," the suited man said. "Whatever," the punk said; as he blew cigarette smoke into a group of cop's faces. "This is a lame party anyway. Love is dead." With that he stood up, revealing he is quite tall (taller than Wesley) and walked out the door. Mama like, Cabiria thought licking her lips. "So who's tall, punkie, and cute?" Kabale asked in a dreamy tone as Detective Bloom walked up to him. "That's Toyama Toshiyuki," Valerie said. "He's a struggling musician. The man who yelled at him was the assistant deputy director of the Metropolitan Police Department, Toyama Osamu; his father." Valerie looked down at her watch and then said, "We should say our good-byes now. It's almost eleven and some of us have a curfew."

"Before you go," a familiar male voice said from behind Valerie. "I'd like you to meet Yamamoto Akane–hakase he's my psychologist," Dangerfield introduced a tall middle aged man with mildly wavy light brown-red hair and bright green eyes in a brown business suit. "With my new management position I needed someone to talk to." "Please to meet you Yamaoto-hakase," Valerie greeted with a bow. "Sorry to say our first meeting will have to be cut short, but we need to get the kiddies home before their bedtime." Kiddies, Zoey thought. Really, Valerie?

I should probably go wash my hand, Raf thought looking at her now sticky hands. Just before the yell happened Raf was about to have a drink when she jumped in surprise. This lead to her drink winding up on the floor and on her hands. The blonde angel gave a quick look at her friends and then thought; maybe I don't need to tell them where I'm going. I'll be quick. She quickly left the area without anyone noticing her.

In the Restroom…

"Oh Detective Baldwin," Raf said as she finished washing her hands. "Have a good night?" "Yeah," Baldwin said. "I'm thinking of leaving early because of dark atmosphere of the party." "Really?" Raf asked. "I haven't noticed. (*turns to face the detective*) Hey, be careful on your way home." "Huh?" Baldwin said turning to the blonde angel. "I mean, the killer is still out there targeting detectives." "Oh," Baldwin said realizing what Raf meant. "Don't worry. I'm great at taking care of myself." "Okay," Raf said sounding unsure.

In the Hallway Outside the Restroom…

A dark figure stood not far from the reception desk with a mad grin on his face. He pressed a button on a cell phone and began to walk to the restroom grabbing an umbrella quickly…

10th Floor Electric Room…

A small device with a cell phone attached to it lit up, and…

BOOM!

A series of explosions filled the room.

The Party Hall…

A few seconds after the explosions the entire 35th floor went dark. "What happen?" Gabe asked. "Is this part of the party?" Sweet asked worried. "I don't think so," Bridget said looking around. "Where's Raf?" Sulfus asked, fear and worry clear in his voice. "RAF!"

Back in the Restroom…

"What happened?" Raf asked worried moving closer to the detective. "I don't know," Detective Baldwin said. "Stay put." Baldwin walked forward to find a way out; or at least a wall. A shimmer of light caught Raf's eye. Kneeling down, she opened the cabinet beneath the sinks, the source of the light turned out to be a flash light that had been left on. Smiling Raf picked it up and turned to the detective. "Hey Detective Baldwin," Raf called out. "I found a flashlight!" Flashing the light at her direction Baldwin caught sight of the barrel of a gun!

"Raf; get down!" Baldwin cried as she ran to the blonde angel's side. Only to be shot multiple times. A stray shot hit one of the faucets, spraying water at Raf; making her lose her grip on the flashlight. The water caused the flashlight to spin flashing light on Raf and the killer's faces. Upon see his face, the killer shot a warning shot at Raf grazing her face and hit the wall. Detective Baldwin fell on top of Raf which caused them both to fall, knocking Raf out as her head collided with the floor. After sure they were both on the ground, the killer threw his gun into the room and ran.

Coming back to her senses Raf got up and tried to shake Detective Baldwin awake. "Detective Baldwin," she said in a shaky tone. "Please, Detective Baldwin. Please wake up." Raf lifted her hands to her face, and quickly found herself trembling at the sight of blood on them. It's my fault, she thought. If I didn't pick up the flash light…

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

"Raf!" Sulfus shouted running to the sound of her scream. "Raf!" He shouted just as the lights flickered back on showing an unconscious Raf and Baldwin covered in blood. "No!" He screamed, running to his girl. "Raf!" "Maria!" Drake cried as he ran into the detective. "Raf," Sulfus said cradling her in his arms as tears rolled down his face. "Please by okay." "Raf is just unconscious," Valerie said kneeling next to her guardians. "She's going to be okay, (*turns to the detectives and frowns*) but Maria…" She didn't even need to finish her statement. "Maria," Detective Drake said fear in his voice. "Please don't leave me, Maria."

Just then Inspector Armstrong, assistant deputy director Toshiyuki, and detective Dangerfield ran to the entrance. "What happen?!" Armstrong demanded. "Inspector!" Valerie and Toshiyuki shouted at the same time. "Call the hospital! Dangerfield, seal all exits!" The two looked at them in shock. "Go!" They snapped. "Drake! Make sure no one else comes into this room!" "Sulfus!" Valerie shouted at the devil. "Stay with Raf and help Drake! (*turns to Toshiyuki, speaking in a calmer tone*) We should check all guests for GPR."

Four Hours Later at the Hospital…

"Sheryl-neesama!" Kiki shouted as she ran up to her leader. The kitty bunny stood with Inspector Armstrong, Detective Drake, and assistant deputy director Toshiyuki in front of the Emergency room doors. "Hey guys," Valerie said in a sad tone. "Raf's still unconscious and Sulfus is with her. They're in 525." "What about Detective Baldwin?" Miki asked. The group turned silent as they turned away from them. "She's still in surgery," Drake finally said. "The doctors will need some time before they can really tell us anything. All we know for sure is that she only has a 50-50 chance of making it." The mews and eternals fell in a morbid silence before they headed to Raf's room.

Just as they left Detective Dangerfield, Officer Bloom, and Officer Edmead came up to the group. "Okay," Valerie said "Now that we're all here; what do we now?" "We checked everyone for GPR," Dangerfield said sadly. "And no one tested positive." "We've come to the assumption that the killer fled via the fire escape," Edmead said. "But what about the flashlight?" Bloom asked. "Was it Maria's, or was it the killers?" "The killers," Valerie said. "Huh?" Dangerfield said. "How did you get that?" "The doors beneath the restroom sink were left wide open," she said. "Which means the killer strategically placed it there; it was used as a marker." "I see," Toshiyuki said. "And no one knew it was there when the lights where on." "I'm going to go on a limb here and say this has something to do with the other killings," Valerie said. "Sheryl," Armstrong started. "DON'T YOU DARE 'SHERYL' ME!" She shouted. "MY FRIEND WAS MOMENTS AWAY OF LOOSING HER LIFE BACK THERE AND I DEMAND TO GET SOME ANSWERS!"

"Sheryl!" Bridget shouted from behind them. "Raf has regained consciousness, but she's acting like a mental case!" "What?!" Valerie snapped, as she ran pasted her to Raf's room. The rest quickly followed as Valerie barged into Raf's room. Renée was there dressed in a purple strapless top, white leather jacket, dark blue skinny jeans, and light purple hat, and brown knee high boots; but Valerie paid her no mind as she rushed to her friend's side.

"Raf!" She cried, worry clear in her voice. "Are you okay?!" Raf look at her with a blank expression on her face before saying, "I'm sorry. Who are you?"
