Chapter 12
(Ebony P.O.V)
Remus soon arrived with Harry, and the unspeakable with us practically bowed to him. Remus and Harry had to get their wands registered, and then we were back in the lifts, and heading down I took out my second apple, and ate the entire thing as the lift moved. "Department of Mysteries." The woman's voice said.
The doors opened and the Unspeakable led the way out onto a corridor. He led us down to a black door, which opened to a circular room with many doors. When the door shut behind us, the room span, the doors blurring together: making it impossible to tell which door we used to come in when the spinning stopped.
"Hall of Prophecy." The Unspeakable said. A door swung open. "I would appreciate it if you told no one of anything you see here. Except the Prophecy, but only if you know that they can be trusted with the information."
"Of course." Sirius said, nodding.
The unspeakable entered the Hall of Prophecy and we followed his lead.
"I am Edmund. I will tell you no more about myself than that, so do not ask. Ah, here we are." He led us down a row and pointed to two Prophecy's. One was labelled The Dark Lord and Harry James Potter (?) and the other was labelled The Dark Lord and Harry James Potter and Ebony Creed.
"Take them both off the shelves." Edmund said.
I grabbed the one that had both mine and Harry's name on, and Harry grabbed the other.
"Mr Potter, if you would shake yours." Edmund said.
Harry nodded, and did as he was told. A misty figure grew out of the crystal ball, and its features defined to reveal Professor Trelawney. She began speaking in a harsh tone.
"The one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord approaches… Born to those who have thrice defied him… Born as the seventh month dies… He shall have a power that the Dark Lord knows not… And the Dark Lord shall mark him as his equal… The one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord approaches… born as the seventh month dies…"
Trelawney disappeared back into the globe.
"Well… everyone knows she's a fraud." I said.
"Yes, well, that prophecy is a fake. But a clever one. You, Miss Creed, are holding the true prophecy." Edmund said.
"Alright then." I said, before I shook it, well aware of everyone else's tense postures.
Once again, Professor Trelawney appeared. "The one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord's approaches… Born to those who have thrice defied one, and are manipulated by the other… Born as the seventh month dies… And he will be aided by his bonded… the descendant of Merlin… and they shall each wield the Old Magik's… A power the Dark Lord's know not… Together they must fight… lest the world fall to darkness… together they must fight… alongside the eye of the dragon…"
I put the prophecy back on the shelf. That was quite something. I shook my head. "Trelawney's a batty old fraud." I said.
"Maybe most of the time. But when she made this, she wasn't faking it I'm afraid. This Prophecy is real. Now, you are not allowed to be here for much longer. I will escort you out."
I felt dad's hand rest on my shoulder, as he reassured himself that I was still in fact there. Harry put the other prophecy back, and Edmund escorted us from the department.
"Well, this is goodbye then. I would appreciate it if you told no one my name. I'd rather stay anonymous." Edmund said, before retreating back into the department of mysteries.
"Are all Unspeakables like that?" I asked, to no one in particular.
"Yes. About their work, and department at least. That is the most anyone's gotten anything out of one of them I reckon." Remus said.
"Let's go." Sirius said.
We all agreed wholeheartedly. It would be a relief to get away from this building, and back to Castle Emrys. We got to the Portkey section, and the Portkey Sirius had on him pulled us back to the castle.
My feet landed on the ground and I sighed. "Well, that was a lot more hectic than I thought. I'm off to go get changed out of these… things!" I said, indicating to my clothes, and already slipping off the shoes. "I hate high heels." I muttered as I headed for the stairs, and to my room.
I was starting to feel slightly tired, but I shook it off. I could rest later. I needed to get changed, and go talk to the others. Mainly dad and Harry though. A prophecy like that was massive. I never thought I'd be mixed up in something like that. I felt anger rise as I realised that the situation was out of my hands. I didn't have a say in this damn prophecy! I quickly caught hold of my anger and hurried to my room to change into something comfortable that i wouldn't be restricted in in a fight.
(No P.O.V)
"You promised me Nine, Dumbledore." Healer crooks said. "This mutant is not Nine." He indicated his head at the girl who was strapped to the table.
"I know that, Healer Crooks. But it will take me time to get hold of Nine. She proves to remain elusive. For now, this mutant will have to do as a substitute. At least until I can get you Nine to study. Look at it this way, you will then be able to compare the similarities and differences in their powers." Dumbledore replied calmly.
"I guess." Crooks said, nodding. "Now, if I'm gong to have anything to compare I'd better get to work."
Dumbledore nodded, and left the underground room. Crooks turned to the table, and wrote something down on a piece of parchment.
"Now, let's see what we have here exactly then." He said, taking brief note of the pure white streaks in the front of the mutant girl's hair.
