Dear Timi,

Are you alright? You've haven't written to me in a while.

I… I got my Hogwarts letter today. One of the professors came to explain it to my parents. My mum was fine, but I swear my dad almost fainted.

Tuney glared at me the entire time, but I'm getting used to it now. I don't think we'll ever be as close as we used to.

But… at least I have you, right?

Your birthdays before mine, so I know you must have gotten yours already. Were you as excited as I was?

The professor- I forget her name honestly- said she was coming back soon to take me shopping. I can barely wait.

Please write back to me soon, Timi.

Lots of Love,

Lily

Septima frowned as yet another one of her potions failed. She looked the procedure over again.

Aunt Waverly had been putting her through the wringer lately. The moment her Hogwarts letter arrived, Waverly had been giving the different subjects that she "needed" to study. Starting with potions.

Apparently, the Prince family was known for their expertise in potions. Lewis had been a prodigy in the subject, Eileen had been a prodigy in the subject, and so had Waverly. Unfortunately for Septima, she didn't have the same talent as her family members or even her male counterpart.

Waverly hadn't even told her which potion she was making. She had given her the recipe, and had told her quite bluntly to "figure it out".

Septima sighed. She had always been good when it came to studying, but for some reason, Potions just wasn't coming easily to her.

She fell asleep for a few short moments only to be awoken by a familiar face.

Marlene Mckinnon grinned down at her and closed her potions book swiftly.

"Honestly Timi, this is just sad," Marlene stated as she looked at the potions book with disgust "Why is Ms. Prince making you do all this?"

Septima sighed as she put all of her books away.

"In order to not disgrace the Prince name," she started off bitterly "I must have a decent grasp on each and every subject."

Marlene sighed and sat across from Septima.

"You're a genius, Timi," she reassured "You'll get it in no time. Slughorn will love you automatically just because you're a Prince."

Septima smiled at that and grabbed Marlene's hands

"Enough about me, how are you? What's Hogwarts been like?" She questioned excitedly.

An excited gleam entered Marlene's eyes as she immediately went on a rant.

"You'll love it, Timi, I promise. It's amazing there." Marlene explained with a dreamy expression on her face "I don't know what house you'll get into, but if you get into Hufflepuff it'll be amazing."

Septima nodded at this and sighed.

"I-I think I'll go to Ravenclaw, or Slytherin even," she muttered as she avoided Marlene's eyes.

Marlene nodded her head solemnly at this.

"You have always been the sneaky type, oh well as long as you don't hang around Lucius Malfoy it'll be fine." She stated as she twirled her hair around one finger.

Septima froze at this, and her eyes sharpened slightly.

"Lucius Malfoy? Has he been bothering you?" Septima asked as she examined her fingernails.

Marlene scoffed at that and flipped her hair back.

"Him. Bother me? Please don't insult me, Timi." Marlene sniffed "He's your typical pureblood prince. Ever since the scandal with his mum, however… he's been even more annoying if that's possible."

Septima nodded at that. Nothing was definite of course, but it had been rumored that Lucinda Malfoy nee Rosier had left her family and life of leisure to be with her muggle lover. Septima had just pegged it to be pureblood gossip at first, but the fact that the Malfoys weren't speaking about it just proved everyone right. Waverly hadn't blamed her for leaving, according to her Abraxas Malfoy was an abusive arse.

Looking at that, Septima wasn't surprised he ended up becoming a death eater.

Marlene cleared her throat.

"Enough about him," Marlene sneered "We haven't played Quidditch in forever. I need to practice for tryouts, and you need to dominate at your lessons."

Septima nodded at this and happily packed her books away.

Her and Marlene spent the remainder of the afternoon flying around the Manor's Garden. Marlene gave her the inside scoop on how to "survive" Hogwarts, while Septima told her how boring everything was without her.

They laughed and enjoyed each other's company just like old times.

Septima grinned, and for the first time in a long while felt truly free.

The Hogwarts Express was packed. There was no other way to describe it Septima decided as she hugged her Aunt Waverly goodbye.

Waverly wasn't an emotional woman, but Septima could see her blue eyes start to shimmer as Septima got ready to make her way onto the Hogwarts Express.

Septima smiled up at her and kissed her cheek.

"I'll be alright Aunt Waverly, I'll make the Prince family proud," She promised.

Waverly crushed her in a hug.

"Don't worry about that Septima," She started "I just want you to have a good time."

Septima nodded her head and dashed off before her eyes started to water.

She jumped into the first empty compartment she could find and let out a sigh of relief. She was finally going to Hogwarts.

Her mind wandered to Lily for a moment, before shaking her head. She had tried writing to her, but for some reason whenever she picked up a pen she couldn't help but feel incredibly guilty.

Septima knew that Lily's possible death wasn't her fault, she knew there was nothing that she alone could possibly do to cause it. But… there were times when a voice in her head told her otherwise. Times when it made her feel as if she was less than.

Septima had gotten better at blocking it out, but there were times when it was still able to overcome her. She looked at her and Lily's shared notebook and sighed once more before putting it away.

The door to her carriage opened.

She looked up expecting it to be Marlene, or James even. She froze when she saw who it was.

Dorcas Meadowes was quite possibly one of the most intimidating people she had ever had the pleasure of meeting. They had been pushed together at a pureblood function once, and Septima was quick to learn that the dark-skinned witch had a tongue of steel.

Sophia-being the brat she was- had inadvertently insulted Septima and Dorcas's half-blood status. Septima had kept quiet, and ignored Sophia's existence as per usual. But Dorcas on the other hand…

Dorcas had been relentless. She had left Sophia practically blubbering at the end of their exchange.

(Her and Sophia were supposed to have come to the Express together, to show "unity". Septima practically had to beg Waverly to see reason.)

Dorcas gave her a once-over and gracefully took the seat across from her.

"Prince," She stated curtly, observing her every move.

"Meadowes," Septima replied, inwardly freaking out. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance once again,"

Dorcas nodded and went to look over her textbooks.

Septima let out a brief sigh of relief and looked out the window. With Dorcas here, no one else was likely to enter.

They rode the train in total silence before Septima broke it accidentally.

She dropped her book on the floor, causing Dorcas to immediately raise her head and glare at her.

"My deepest apologies Meadowes," She stated curtly, as she inwardly rolled her eyes. Was it really that serious?

The other girl's eyes widened momentarily, before shaking her head.

"I-It's fine," She mumbled as she quite literally buried her head in her book.

Septima sighed and rested her head against the window. She examined her wand-Blackthorn wood, with phoenix core- and slowly put it away. Sleep claimed her almost instantly.

Unbeknownst to her, a familiar red-headed girl looks at her, with a great amount of hurt in her green eyes. Righteous anger fills her almost instantly.
