Chapter 12
Pride groggily got up from the dirt road, stumbling to the ground a couple of times. "What do you want Envy?" Pride spat the name with venom. Envy just smirked, a malevolent smile crossing his features. "You freaking palm tree!" Envy's smile faded at the nickname, a sneer replacing the smirk.
Once Pride got up and was finally standing, legs wobbling, but that wasn't going to bring him down again. He wasn't going to let Envy mock him anymore. Pride searched for that presence that controlled the shadows that was normally difficult for him to find on purpose but this time it seemed to find him instead of vice versa.
Prides eyes darkened to an almost black color and he stood up in front of the human army that was still weak from the transmutation. Pride growled the sound emitting from the shadows inside of his body sounding completely inhuman. It made a shiver go down everyone's back, including Envy and the being hiding in the shadows that made that spear-like claw.
"Lust," he spat with disdain. "I knew I felt the presence of another homunculus." Lust knew there was no point in hiding that she was there, Pride knew almost everything about every homunculus. Despite the fact that Pride looked like the Fullmetal Alchemist, he was still her older brother, who cared for her in her earliest years. She would show mercy, also knowing if Pride had all of his memories he would think she was too weak to finish the job.
The shadows rose as he smelled Gluttony's sent, the sharp stench of death was a dead give away of his slob of a brother. He growled again, his body somehow ignoring the pain in his chest as three of his siblings were in front of him. Envy, Lust and Gluttony against Pride, the odds weren't in Pride's favor. But he didn't let that thought show through, it would hurt his ego.
He never ran from a fight. And he never lost a fight.
His lips circled in an evil smirk and his sharp teeth glinted in the light. "You want to fight me siblings?" Pride's shadows said. "Then go for it." Pride felt like his body was moving on its own accord, he didn't say those things but he felt like he had, his body moved in a way and the shadows mimicked the actions, the shadows mainly focusing on Envy, only attacking Lust and Gluttony if they got too close.
When Pride was finally able to get Envy immobile another sharp pain spread from his chest. He clutched his chest painfully to try to ease the pain. A hysterical laugh rose from Envy, "still in pain brother," Envy teased. Pride looked up ay him, with an obvious look of pain but still trying to glare. "I'm not your brother!" Pride knew that came from his mouth but it sounded freaky, it echoed in his throat.
Then everything went black.
Pride's body fell to the ground with a loud, thump."Ah, ha, you're so weak Pride, you're not even worthy of your name," Envy said. Envy was so busy laughing he hadn't noticed that shadows were forming underneath Pride's body and slowly wrapping around the body. "Um, Envy?" Gluttony asked worried at the sight of the shadows.
Envy looked at Gluttony, wondering what would have made his brother have that scared tone. He followed his brothers line of sight and saw Pride's body surrounded in an unnatural black, the humans that were with Pride had run back a while huddling together against the building behind Pride, to terrified to move.
"What's this Pride? A new look? It suits you," Envy grinned, placing his hands on his hips. The shadows shot out, but were slower than usual and wobbled shakily. Envy raised his eyebrows, wondering why Pride was obviously not controlling the shadows, rather, letting themselves move at their own free will.
But what no one could see was what was happening inside of the shadows shield. Pride's body was weak and his body was in intense pain and it was killing him. He wanted to scream in pain but his body was too weak to do even the mundane task. The air was thick and difficult to breathe and his body ached with agonizing pain, it started from the chest almost like the repeatedly occurring tightness, but now had spread to his entire body.
His body had now slumped to the floor with a loud 'thump' and remained limp, Pride was having to control his breathing, taking deep breaths, unable to grasp any air. He was suffocating and there was nothing he could do about it. He tried forcing his lungs to move, and they would respond but something was blocking his windpipe, removing the ability to breathe. He could feel it too. Something thick and cold lodging itself inside of his throat.
It felt oddly like the shadows he had dreamed of. But now they were killing him, making him suffer one of the worst deaths of humanity. He tried clawing at his throat, praying that the felling would disappear before the hands of death grabbed him. But the only thing happened was more intense pain, shooting at his nerves and felling the shadow-like things protruding from his neck, making his throat lumpy.
Then suddenly the feeling spread throughout his body, as if the shadows had finished on his neck and decided to spread, his eyes widening in agony as his veins and arteries have been cut straight through, the shadows forcing their way through his body, slowly fulling up the empty areas making sure that not a millimeter wasn't covered with the shadows.
He yelled in complete agony, his throat burning. Then, without warning, the pain disappeared, as if he imagined the whole thing. His limbs are paralyzed, he couldn't get them to move an inch. Then an idea came to mind, he tried to control the shadows to move his arms and the surprisingly obeyed and he flexed his fingers. It seemed his body moved when he moved the shadows. He looked up and saw a black wall surrounding him. He –slowly– got up from the ground, his legs were wobbly and he fell over a couple of times before he was able to stand up right.
He then called the shadows – they seemed to be easier to move now – and he pushed them forward into the other humunculi in front of him and hit them with a force that knocked them into the building's behind them.
"How about we end this little charade"
