A/N: This will be confusing.. sort of. XD
Rukia Kurosaki
Chapter 10
-Ichigo-
"Oi Rukia! Hurry up!" I yelled for the umpteenth time when I noticed yet again that there was a lack of a raven-haired midget in front of me.
Usually, Rukia would be taking the lead, all excited to put on her fake annoyingly innocent act while she gathers more information about the human world because we were "such interesting species." Tch, it's not like she wasn't one before.
Turning my head, I saw Rukia calmly strolling down the street, about 5 feet away from me. She was wearing a serene expression on her face with her eyes closed and a small smile gracing her lips. I raised an eyebrow at her weird behavior but shrugged it off and waited for her to catch up. It didn't seem like she was trying though. In fact, it looks like she didn't even hear me.
Or she did but chose to ignore me anyway.
My eyebrow twitched as she took her time walking. And when she finally passed my side (still not paying me any attention), my annoyance was replaced by curiosity when I heard her hum a soft tune.
"Oi midget!" I yelled again as I caught up with her (though she was really just three steps away). When she still didn't seem to notice me and still continued walking, I promptly grabbed the back of her shirt, halting her movements. She yelped in shock as she almost fell backwards. Good thing she was quick on her feet.
"What's up with you?" I asked, my eyebrows almost meeting each other.
She didn't answer but I finally got her attention since she turned around and—
"Nghh." I groaned in pain as I nursed my bruised shin. I glared at her. "Hey! That hurt!"
She showed no remorse and simply folded her arms. "That's what you get for ruining my mood." And with that, she continued walking. This time, in a normal pace rather than in turtle speed.
I sighed. Women.
Thankfully, the rest of the walk was normal (the skipping and humming finally ceased) though Rukia still had that relaxed air around her. We were both silent during the walk but it was nice rather than uncomfortable.
And finally, after a few minutes, we arrived in hell just in time for the school bell.
"Kuuuuuuuuuuchikiiiiiiiiiii-saaaaaaaaaaa— aughh!"
I rolled my eyes at the same events that happened every morning. This was seriously getting old. Besides, when would Keigo learn that attempting to tackle Rukia would lead to a hell lot of pain? Trust me, it hurts.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, Asano-kun!" Rukia said in that annoyingly high-pitched voice she faked while her hand covered her mouth and her eyes wide with shock and concern. And were those tears in her eyes?
"Did I hurt you?"
In a second, Keigo was up again. "Don't worry my princess. It didn't hurt at all!" he gushed.
Tell that to the bruise on your check, moron.
"As expected of the lovely and amazing Kuchiki-san! Always alert and fast." He continued.
"I wonder if you're the same in other ways."
This time, it was my foot that met his face.
-Rukia-
I looked out the window as the class went on. I smiled as I saw some kids playing soccer outside. It felt nice to be back to the good old days. During this time, all I had to do was keep an eye on Ichigo and act normal in front of everyone else. There were no stressful paper works or constant pressures of captaincy. Nor were there annoying weekly clan meetings I was now also required to attend.
Instead, my days were filled with constant excitement as I battle hollows on a daily basis.
I honestly miss this. But I miss Takeshi and Ichigo too. Still, with the way things are going, I'm not gonna see them soon.
Originally, I had planned to stay in the past for only day at most. My sole purpose was to kill a low-level arrancar that had the ability to manipulate time and space. It called itself "The Dreamer" which was a ridiculous name since it had nothing to do with it at all. Sure, it had special abilities, but it was still weak and thus very easy to eliminate.
It seems though that I— or rather, Urahara – miscalculated. I was supposed to arrive here on a particular day; the day my younger self came into contact with The Dreamer, however, I was two weeks early. I realized this while checking my Shinigami phone earlier right before I had come out of the Kurosaki residence.
Of course, after thinking it through, it wasn't that much of a problem, and considering my bankai's sudden absence, it's not particularly a bad thing either. I would have time to figure things out. In fact, it did put me into a rather good mood considering it extended my stay here. But now, I found myself frowning.
Now that I thought about it, there are other factors, such as a son and a husband that would be looking for me!
Also, what would my younger self do if she wakes up in Urahara's underground basement all confused and lost!? I specifically told him not to let her— or me? whatever– out and just knock her unconscious the minute she wakes up (to avoid complications). It wasn't really an issue considering it was only a day. But she can't sleep for two weeks straight! Without eating, her reiatsu would weaken which will hinder her from travelling back to this time space.
That old pervert better figure something out.
And back to my current problem, how am I supposed to defeat that freaking Arrancar without my bankai!? It's weak like I've said but with its abilities, as Urahara has explained, it can easily use time and space as a shield so a strong enough force must be able to go through the temporary barrier it creates. And though a simple shikai would be able to kill it, I couldn't say the same for time and space. I mean, it's basically indestructible. Nothing can go through it, not even a…
…bankai?
…
…wait.
Urahara clearly said that…
…no…
…he couldn't..
..he wouldn't…
Would he?
…
Shit… he would.
…
Th-that old bastard! Dammit!
I sighed in frustration as realization dawned on me. I prevented myself from desperately banging my head to a wall for being so stupid. I already felt the incoming headache.
I swear I'll freeze his stupid store the minute I get back. I'll take that stupid green hat off his stupid head and burn it into little pieces of stupid green a—
My murderous thoughts were cut off when I felt something poke my cheek. I blinked stupidly for a moment before glaring towards the offending object.
"You okay? Steam is coming off your ears."
Still glaring, I grabbed the pencil and broke it in half.
"Hey! That was my pencil, you midget!"
I did nothing but stick my tongue out.
"Kurosaki! Kuchiki! Would you like to share what you're talking about?" The teacher called out and each student immediately turned their attention to our direction as whispers and snickers filled the room.
I took a deep breath and pushed away my worries (for now). I'll kill Urahara later.
Besides if I thought too much, I'd turn senile! What would Takeshi think if his mom isn't cool anymore?
I smirked as I glanced at Ichigo before pulling out a handkerchief and wiped down invisible tears.
"I-I was j-just asking K-Kurosaki-kun to g-get my penci-il on the ground b-but he—sob— he suddenly b-broke it in half! I-it was the o-only thing my de-deceased grandma h-had left me."
"Wh-what!?" Ichigo sputtered. "You can't honestly believe that bullshit right?"
*sobs
"Enough Kurosaki! Now apologize to her!"
I smiled in victory. If Ichigo thought Rukia Kuchiki was evil… well, he sure hasn't met Rukia Kurosaki yet.
I smiled wider.
I could say the same for Urahara.
