it's important you read this!

I'm redoing Timeless, my writting has progressed drastically from when i first started writting this 3 years ago. this isn't the complete first chapter re-written, but it's the intorductory part re-done. let me know what you think, things i can fix from the old story. i'll be keeping the old chapter's up for anyone who wants to read them, but just as well, the chapters to replace them will have different outcomes so be sure not to skip over them just because they're re-done. It feels good to get back into doing this again.

Telma's bar was never particularly crowded on any typical given day. Though despite being tucked in the ditch of an alley, it was still one of the more popular taverns. It had been picking up popularity since word spread of the Chosen Hero's latest incarnate having frequented there many of times. The bar's newly found patronage came with the cost of it's owner, respectfully with the same name, needing assistance instead of running it on her own.

The owner, Telma, hired a young woman by the name Ember. Her short hair was as orange as the morning horizon, and eyes, alight blue as a frozen lake. She dressed, not in the typical manner as many of the kingdoms inhabitants, and especially not as though any lady usually dressed, but rather chose a more learned look of a nice waistcoat and long jacket. To top of her ensemble, a pair of magnifying goggles were repetitiously around her neck.

The strangest thing bout Ember, though, wasn't the way she decided to dress, but in her curiosities of technologies. While many found hobbies in sewing or swordplay, Ember entertained her time with creation and innovation. She loved to find how things worked and to create her own invention. Unfortunate for her, the procuring of the materials needed to carry out her interest where less than cheap. Thus she found herself in Telma's bar, helping her with the recent increase of customers.

At the moment, she has herself preoccupied with speaking with one of the usual customers that seemed to frequent quite often, a young man by the name of Shad. He was a scholar and if she were completely honest, her favorite customer to strike up a conversation with for more than a few reasons. One of them being their shared interest in gathering knowledge.

"The theory is that even with a large enough set of wings, a full grown person isn't able be airborne." Ember voiced her thoughts in a long string, barely pausing for breath. "A bird is able to do so because their bone density is much lighter than ours and the amount of lift they generate is in direct correlation to their body mass, so in theory all a person would need would be enough of an extra push in addition to that set of wings."

"With the way you speak of this theory of your, it seems you've explored this possibility on more than just paper. Am I wrong?" Shad leaned himself on the table behind him, taking a more relaxed position than his previous standing.

"Not exactly-"

"SHAD!" Telma yelled from behind the counter to grab the pair's attention. "Could you stop distracting my worker for a minute? She's still on shift, you can flirt later. Telma set down a tray full of drinks on the counter and directed herself at her employee"These go to the soldiers by the wine racks."

"But-" Ember tried to protest, but a stern look from Telma told her it was clearly time to get back to work. "Sorry, we'll have to pick this up later."

Shad hummed agreement, now suddenly interested in the floor. "I'll be here."

Ember left him to carry the tray out and brought back empty glasses and began cleaning out the ones that were piling up.

"Has that boy not asked you to dinner yet?" Telma asked, taking the wet glass from Ember to dry it with a cloth.

Ember felt her cheeks heat up.

"Perhaps if you stop interrupting our conversations he might." Ember sighed, glancing over to the young man, who had retreated into the contents of his book he always carried with him. "Though I doubt he would even if you hadn't. I believe he sees me as more a intellectual colleague than anything." Shad seemed to feel her gaze on him and looked up from his book, Ember quickly turned her attention back downward to her busy hands. "We share common interests."

"You're impossible, Child."
