Chapter 12
.
"I'm home." Natsu said tiredly and loosened his tie after closing the door.
He frowned when he was met with silence.
After a few more minutes of silence, his heart started to race... and he stilled.
Frozen in his spot, he was waiting for Lucy to greet him like what she does every night.
His feet slowly lead him to the kitchen and to the bathroom. When he didn't find her, he started to rush towards her room. He quickly opened the door, not minding if she needed to be left in privacy, he just wanted to know if she's there.
He glances around the room until he turned his head to the right and finally saw her in front of a whole body mirror, deep in thoughts while looking at her stomach.
He sighed in relief and slowly approached her. He really hates the little panic attack that he feels whenever he didn't see Lucy around.
...
Lucy stood in front of a whole body mirror in amazement. Not too long ago, she was silently wishing for her child to grow and be visible. But look at her stomach now. Indeed, it's not as big as the women's who are in their trimester but still, it makes her happy to see that her baby is growing.
She closed her eyes and imagined pictures of what her baby might look like.
She pictured a toddler who has big brown eyes, rosy chubby cheeks, a huge grin and… pink hair?
Lucy abruptly opened her eyes, startled at her visualization of her baby.
Yes. She admits to herself now that she is secretly praying that Natsu is the father of her baby.
'But to the extent that I imagine my baby to have some of Natsu's features?...'
Of course, she didn't intentionally imagine that her baby will have his features...
'The picture of that baby just sort of popped in my mind!' She thought as she tried to convince herself of the possible reason.
She sighed and tenderly rubbed her tummy. Can she be a good enough mother if she doesn't even know who her baby's father is?
Guess she just needs to wait for a few more months. She's just on her fourth month after all. She smiled at the thought.
The thought of seeing her child never fails to make her excited! She already wants to hold her child, hear her baby's gurgles and laughters, watch him sleep, and spend the day with him.
"Just a few more months. A few more months and you'll be able to see the colorful outside world. Are you as excited as I am? Of Course, you are." Lucy giggled. All she has to do is wait and be healthy so her child would be healthy too.
Natsu smiled after hearing what she said. He too is excited though he can't explain why.
Lucy looked up at the mirror and gasped.
"Natsu! You're home! Why did you come home this early?" Lucy asked him when he approached and hugged her from behind.
After he came home drunk three weeks ago, his habit of hugging her started. He hugs her when he comes home and before going to his room to sleep, that is, if he decided to sleep in his room. But he sleeping in his room is rare nowadays, because with his newfound habit of hugging her comes with his habit of sleeping beside her.
Other than that habit of his, everything is normal.
She cooks meals for them, wait for him to come home every day and have a conversation with him while eating or before both of them goes to sleep. Most of the time, he's bringing home some books, sometimes with magazines for pregnant moms. Courtesy of Lisanna.
As for her, she stays inside the house as usual.
She watches T.V., read books that Natsu brought home, listen to the radio and learns new recipes that she finds in different cookbooks. It's boring sometimes but she can manage, as long as she has books by her side.
But she must admit that she missed walking outside, feeling the cold air as she walked. She missed inhaling the fresh morning air. She missed interacting with various people as she goes to the market every morning to get fresh goods.
She missed going out in general.
.
Natsu is getting busier now so for the past three weeks they only got to go outside once. They watched a movie that day. He was being weird that time though, asking her to make him look less like him so she made him wear a hat and sunglasses.
.
"Early? It's already seven p.m., Lucy." Natsu raised brow at her, looking at her at the mirror.
"What?! I thought I was just here for some minutes. I never thought that I've been standing here for an hour now. I'll heat the food, go change, or something..." Lucy said before she turned around to leave the room.
"I'll go take a shower and change before eating then." He smiled at her before he went to his room.
Natsu stretched as he stood up from the couch. He started looking over some files that he decided to bring home. Feeling his throat become dry, he decided to walk into the kitchen to get a glass of water and to see his angel too.
He smirked and decided to watch as Lucy hummed happily while washing the dishes. He chuckled softly, wondering when she will notice that he's been standing behind her.
Lucy wiped dry the last plate and turned around, she jumped a bit when she noticed Natsu leaning against the table while laughing quietly.
"You're so lost in your own world." he said, smiling teasingly at her.
"I guess I am." Lucy giggled. She walked into the living room, with Natsu in tow.
"You seem to be in a good mood. Care to share why?" He asked, curious as to what makes his love feel giddy.
"I dreamed about my savior last night." Lucy said as she sat on the love seat.
"Savior?" Natsu raised an eyebrow and sat beside her. His arms were automatically wrapped around her waist. He felt a hint of jealousy rising up from his heart. It sounds childish but he wanted to be the only who makes Lucy smile, now that she is with him.
Who is that savior of hers anyways? Her ex-boyfriend? Or another man interested in her? Whoever he is, he will definitely make that man live far away from her.
"Mind telling me about him?" He asked, getting himself ready to acquire information and track down that man.
Natsu frowned when Lucy's level of happiness visibly dropped after he asked the question.
"I don't really know a thing about him." She replied with an adorable little pout on her lips.
Natsu raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"I don't really know who he is. Not even how he looks like." Lucy sighed before explaining further.
"Why and how did you call him your savior then?" He asked, his eyes searching and never leaving her face.
"Because he always saves me. Duh." Lucy laughed at his unamused expression.
"Okay. Okay. I'll tell you, though I'm not joking when I said he always saves me. When I was in college, I tend to be a bit forgetful and misplace a lot of important papers. But he always manages to do something about it. Every time I got problems, he always solves it. Before, I always find what I misplaced or the assignments that I forgot to do on my desk." Lucy smiled softly.
"Seriously. How can that guy know my classes or where I sit?" Lucy wondered aloud?
"How can you be so sure that the one who's 'saving' you is the same person every time?" Natsu inquired.
"Woman's instinct." Lucy answered. Natsu raised a brow at her in disbelief.
"What? You don't believe me? You don't believe a woman's powerful magic called instincts?" Lucy asked, irked at the fact that Natsu doesn't believe her.
"Fine. He always leaves a rubix cube above my papers every time he found them or did them for me. I remember seeing a letter D on one of the boxes in the red part of the cube." She said, her brows scrunched as she tried to remember how was she so sure before that that guy who's helping her is the always the same.
"That's weird and totally cowardly. Can't he just give the paper to you personally? Are you even sure that he's a guy? That giving-only-a-hint sounds like a girl thing to me." Natsu chuckled.
"He's a guy!" Lucy yelled, her cheeks puffed out in irritation. How can he insult the guy that she's been secretly admiring for years now?
"How did you know?" Natsu inquired with his teasing tone.
"I just knew." Lucy stubbornly said, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she looked away from him.
Lucy gasped loudly as she recalled a certain memory.
"He is a guy!" Lucy exclaimed, looking excitedly at him.
"Okay. I believe you. Just calm down." Natsu cringed away from her loud voice.
"He really is. I remember seeing him walk away from my locker and when I opened it, there's a gift and a rubix cube inside it." She happily narrated.
"I thought he was only giving you your lost papers or doing the assignments that you forgot?" He asked with a suspicious tone.
"That's the only time he left a gift." She answered with a pout which Natsu caught.
"What did he give you then?" His hold around her waist tightened a bit, he noticed that Lucy placed her hand above his making him smile inwardly.
"A pair of heart shaped earrings." She grinned as she showed him her earrings.
"The one you're using right now?" he leaned closer and inspected her earrings.
"Yes." Lucy answered softly, blushing at their close proximity.
"He's really weird." Natsu said as he got up to go to his unfinished work.
"No, he's not. I think he's sweet." Lucy said quietly though she was sure he still heard her.
Natsu blushed slightly at her words. Looks like he can't send that man far away from her after all. Because he knows too well that he can't even live a day without seeing her.
Natsu chuckled silently to himself as he tiptoed towards Lucy's bedroom. He plans to sleep beside Lucy again without her permission. She's not acting violently against it anyways, just some weak protests so he assumed she's fine with it too.
He was about to turn the knob when he heard Lucy's voice.
"You know I can't do that." He heard her say. He pushed his ear against her door to hear her clearly. Looks like the call isn't on loudspeaker, too bad he can't hear what the person on the other line is saying.
"I know. I know alright. But I can't just leave here." His eyes widened. Is she planning to leave? Or is the person she's talking to right now persuading her to leave? She sounds so hesitant after all.
"Just because.." He gritted his teeth as he continued to listen to Lucy.
"He'll know right away if I'll leave." His heart fluttered a bit when it seems like she was convincing whoever called her that she can't just leave.
"Okay, you got me. I myself don't want to." O-oh. He was lost to their conversation now. She doesn't want to what? To leave? He's glad that she didn't want to leave but he can't be sure if that really is it.
"I'll try and ask him. Even though he let me in easily I can still feel that it takes a long time before he trusts a person, that's why." Are they talking about him now?
"When?" What when? What is that when all about? He has a bad feeling about it.
"Okay. On Sunday. I'll call you back after I asked him." Sunday? He smirked. I'll watch you like a hawk on Sunday. I'll make sure you won't get away.
"Don't worry. I think he'll agree. He's nice." Just so you know, Lucy. I'm nice to you because I love you. But I don't know if I can be nice to the people who want you away from me. And agree to what? For you to leave?
Never. He puffed some air into his chest and stood in his full height.
Natsu walked back to his room and decided to let her sleep first before joining her on her bed. He did this to avoid her into thinking that he heard her conversation with someone because she might change her plans.
Author's Notes:
I think other than Natsu's habit of hugging Lucy and sleeping on her bed, he also likes to eavesdrop on her conversation. ^_^
I know this one is obvious... but any guess on who is that savior of Lucy?
And who's also excited for the day when Lucy will give birth to her baby?
I'm excited too but there's still a lot to happen so stay tuned my dear readers ;)

I love reading your thoughts about this story, it really makes my day. But the opposite when I hear less, it makes me think that there's something wrong with how the chapter went.
That's all! Enjoy reading! Have a nice day everyone!
And let's all hope that we will be seeing a lot of NaLu moments on the future chapters of FT! Gosh! That moment of Natsu and Lisanna made me strangle my pillows while reading! I guess it's because I didn't expect their first moment after so many chapters be like that.
Well, let's just have faith on our ship.
NaLu forever!
