Chapter 12: Falling from Sanity
"Amber, what's wrong?" Alma asked.
Charlie was at her side, trying to stop the poor woman from shaking erratically. Amber wouldn't stop screaming. She was on her knees with her hands pressed tightly against the sides of her skull.
"We have to calm her down!"
"Amber, you're perfectly safe here. Please stop yelling. Tell us what's wrong. We can help you." Charlie tried consoling her.
Having no effect, Alma decided to slap her across the face. SMACK!
Thankfully, the slap was good enough to stop Amber. She was panting for air. "Um thanks."
Charlie sighed. "That scared the hell out of us. What caused you to react that way?"
Amber shuttered. She fell back onto her rear. Her hands went to her face. She was rubbing her eyes, as if the action could wipe away the dreadful memories. "I guess since you guys are stuck here for a while, I might as well spill the beans."
Both Charlie and Alma sat down next to her. They were curious about Amber's past.
"So it all started about twenty-two years ago. This lovely busty woman fell in love with a handsome devil and he banged her till I popped out nine months later and I was-"
"Amber, we're serious."
Amber chuckled. She kept rubbing her eye. "I'm sorry. I wasn't kidding when I said my mind is kind of fucked up. Anyway…I guess I should start with the resort. About…what is it now, a hundred days or so? Well I was at this amazing resort. I was going to volunteer as a librarian or even a tutor to pay for my stay, something that encouraged clients to work for the resort. It was during my stay that I met my friend, Stella. She was someone so sweet and shy, you could easily get her to do anything. I never took advantage; I actually tried steering her in the right direction. However, the whole island ended up being held hostage by a group of terrorists. I had to team up with friends and strangers for our freedoms. It was after we won that things got…horrible. We ended up dying somehow. Some huge monster came out and killed us. I have no idea why we survived. But I know it had to do with Samantha Sinclair. She was involved with Stella and I think she saved us. We woke up on this island. The fucked up part was that Stella woke up several months pregnant. I can't even explain how that's possible. Things didn't improve here at all…"
-Three months earlier-
Amber grunted as she and Nidoking pulled the logs closer. They were building a small shelter for the night. It was an uncertainty how long the two girls would be stuck on the island. Amber didn't want to have to fight Pokemon all night again. The building was made easier by Espeon's Psychic.
Wouldn't a hut in the middle of a jungle be…inconspicuous?
"Shut up, Espeon! I want to feel slightly safe for once."
Espeon smirked. You have us.
Amber rolled her eyes. "You guys were all complaining about being tired last night."
I'm sorry I couldn't be much help. I'm not much of a battler.
Amber frowned. "Stella, I prefer you speak aloud. It's easier on me at least. My Pokemon still find it weird too."
Stella smiled sadly. "I'm sorry. It kicks in randomly." She rubbed her swelling belly. The girl's stomach was getting bigger daily.
"It's fine. I'm here to protect you. Just worry about taking care of yourself, okay? If that means taking it easy, it's fine." She grinned. "My Pokemon and I can pick up the slack."
Stella went up to her and wrapped her arms around Amber. "Thank you. You don't know how much your attitude helps. I don't think I could stay sane without you. I feel so at loss."
Amber felt a pang in her heart. She had no idea what she was doing but she had to keep up her positivity around Stella.
The night brought heavy rain. It would pour for hours, threatening to flood several areas of the jungle. Thankfully, their log cabin kept them dry. The area was slightly higher so flooding wasn't an issue. Hunger was, however.
Stella's stomach began to growl. She quickly tried stifling the sound as best she could. Her cheeks flared up.
Amber smiled at her. She tried to give the girl the last of the fruits and nuts they had gathered that day. "Here, you have to eat."
She refused. "You need to eat as well."
Amber gave her a half-hearted laugh. "I ate already." She lied. It was her second day without eating. It took quite a bit of scavenging in the hostile forest to feed all of her Pokemon and Stella. She preferred for them to be fed than for herself. If her Pokemon suffered because of her…she would never forgive herself.
"At least eat half of them…" Stella pleaded.
Amber kept her hand outstretched. Her smile never wavered.
Stella sighed. She slowly grabbed the food. She began to eat them, bit by bit.
Not wanting to feel even hungrier, Amber turned away and stayed near the makeshift window. It was kept closed by a wooden grid and a covering of leaves and twigs to keep out the rain. There were small holes where she could see what surrounded their shelter. She could already make out several glowing eyes.
I'll drop the coverings with Psychic. Don't worry about it. Nidoking and I made it very sturdy. Espeon told her telepathically.
As she had said, the sturdy window barriers slid down, blocking her view. It would protect the window from being broken. A bar was placed over the front door to block it as well. They should be safe for the night.
Gengar had gotten out of his Pokéball. He already knew what to do. His body began emitting a light glow, illuminating the dark cabin.
Stella had already finished eating. There were tears in her eyes. Amber quickly went over and sat with her. She wrapped her arm around the blond girl, pulling her close. "No matter what you hear, we're safe, okay? Just try to get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow. We're going to see if we can map this place out for once."
Stella nodded. "Goodnight, Amber."
The girls rested their bodies against the cold floor. They had made thin beds out of a bunch of leaves. It wasn't very comfortable but better than sleeping on the dirt and grass.
It didn't take long for Stella to fall asleep. She had tried to help as much as possible, against Amber's wishes. It was the reason their food supply had lasted for more than two meals though.
Food. Her stomach growled. Amber placed her hand on her own stomach. She clenched her abdomen. Stella was already fast asleep fortunately.
You have to eat.
Amber glared at her friend.
You can die from starvation, you know. We won't be against helping Stella if you do but we won't last much without your guidance. Wild Pokemon don't take too kindly to domesticated Pokemon anyway.
Amber bit her lip. "I know. I'll make sure to eat something tomorrow." She whispered.
The low snarls of Houndour and other wild Pokemon could be heard. They were slowly approaching their cabin.
"Thank Arceus it's raining. Wet wood is hard to burn for small fries." She muttered.
Tears were running down her cheeks. She tried to keep a smile. Espeon crept up and rested against her side. Amber affectionately scratched behind her ear.
We'll be alright.
The outside Pokemon were ramming their heads against the cabin's walls. The cabin held firmly though. The Pokemon were unwilling to quit however.
"We'll be alright." Amber repeated Espeon's words.
The snarls and tackles persisted for a very long time, stopping only a few hours before dawn. Amber kept crying, unable to suppress the unrelenting hopelessness she felt. She muffled her sobbing, afraid of waking up her pregnant companion. Her false strength was the only thing keeping Stella in check. One day it wouldn't be enough.
Amber fell onto her knees. She couldn't keep it up anymore. She was eating once every three days. They were almost a month on the new island. It was slowly killing them. The attacks no longer stopped before dawn. It was until the attacking Pokemon gave up from exhaustion. Amber had to fight them off or else their whole day would go to waste. Dehydration wasn't too much of a problem. Unlike food, water was easy to get to. Food was their biggest concern though.
"I'll…go look for some more food." Stella muttered. She had gotten weaker with each passing day. The Pokemon attacks started much earlier every night so she stopped sleeping much. Amber got even less sleep.
"No…stay by the cabin. Stitch together some more clothing out of the leaves. We have to bathe soon. I'll go with Gengar for food."
Stella sighed. She didn't want to argue. "Okay then, Samantha."
Amber froze. "What?"
Stella was flushed. "I'm sorry! That slipped out."
Amber just turned around. She walked away.
Stella felt her presence disappearing into the woods. "Stella, you need to get a grip on things…you can't be falling apart. Amber is trying her best." She told herself.
Are you…really okay?
Stella blinked in confusion. She had forgotten Espeon usually stayed in the cabin when Amber went out. "I am."
Stella, I can sense your emotions. You have been a roller coaster for weeks now.
Stella looked away in shame. "I've been having a hard time."
I kind of figured when you called my master by your lover's name.
"I really miss her. She's never gone from my mind." She admitted.
My master…isn't too fond of her. She thinks Samantha is responsible for your current situation. I have no idea if that's true or not but she is related somehow. I…could listen to you though. I wish no ill will on her. It'd make things easier on my master in the long run. I'll keep our talks to myself. She already worries too much.
Stella nodded. "Thank you…"
Stella giggled. She was completely naked. Her toes were submerged in the lake they used for bathing. Amber was resting next to her, nude as well. Their new clothing was drying as they waited.
"What's so funny?" Amber asked, half asleep.
"I just like how the water feels on my toes."
"It probably helps the swelling."
Stella nodded. "It's not that bad. They just ache sometimes."
Amber flipped over, her back to the ground. She felt the warm rays of the sun hit her body. The sunlight rarely lasted long. It would be cloudy soon. "You have to stay off them as long as you can."
"I know that. I need to help out though." She reached over and gave Amber a small peck on the lips. "I can't have you do all the work after all." Stella giggled before returning back to wiggling her toes in the water.
Stella's actions confused Amber terribly. She had originally been timid and worried about their futures. She kept a false attitude like Amber, not willing to upset her. Nowadays, she honestly seemed less worried. She was downright enjoying things. The signs of affection were increasing as well. It unnerved her. Stella had been calling her Samantha at least once a day. The horrible part was Stella's recollection of the girl.
"Stella, do you like my hair?"
Stella smiled. "I love your blue hair."
Amber had chestnut hair, not blue hair. "How old am I, Stella?"
Stella titled her head to the side. "Well you're almost eighteen now."
Amber smiled, incredibly annoyed. "And my name?"
Stella giggled. "You're so weird today, Samantha."
Amber exploded. "My name is Amber you stupid, delusional bitch!"
Espeon jumped up, alarmed.
Stella was unfazed by Amber's anger. "Amber, I know who you are."
Amber clenched her jaw. "Then why do you keep calling me Samantha?"
Stella frowned. "Sam…that sounds familiar. I can't recall anyone by that name."
Her statement confused Amber more than it irritated her. Espeon stopped her from questioning Stella further.
She hasn't been herself lately. She stopped our daily talks about Samantha a few days ago. I thought it was weird when I mentioned the name and got no reaction from her. She may have blocked her out.
Amber sighed. "Samantha Sinclair…" The name made her cringe. "Do you recognize that name?"
Stella thought carefully. "I have no idea who that is."
Do you know who Stella Saito is?
Amber was surprised by Espeon's question. Stella's answer made her heart sink.
"I don't know her either. Who is she?" Stella answered. She genuinely had no idea.
Amber breathed in the musky scent from the Ursaring fucking her brains out. "Don't stop until you're satisfied, okay? I have nowhere to be anyway." She pressed her legs against the large Pokemon. Her legs were barely long enough to wrap around his thick waist.
"Ursaring!" He started thrusting with more energy.
Amber started to clench her eyes closed. She could feel her orgasm hitting already. It was maybe her fifth with Ursaring.
Her partner suddenly pushed her off his organ. He pushed her onto her knees and shoved his thick pulsing meat into her mouth. Without batting an eyelash, she bobbed her head back and forth. She knew Ursaring would fuck her mouth until her jaw burnt.
She was rewarded with hot, thick cum straight into her belly. It was a nice change from only drinking water and fruit juice.
Ursaring took his time withdrawing his shriveling member from her mouth. Not a single drop had been spared.
"Well buddy, you know the deal. I let you fuck my brains out, you get me some more food."
Ursaring grunted. He motioned to his two companions, a Linoone and a Bidoof. The two handed over a woven basket, made by Amber, full with a variety of food. She was surprised to find cooked fish in there too.
"I'm not going to ask about the uh fish. Thanks though. If you guys need more satisfaction…" Amber gave them a wink and a nice view of her bare ass. "You know where to find me."
The three Pokemon had hearts in their eyes. They would surely return. They knew Amber would trade sex for food and safety regularly.
Amber took her time to put her clothing back on. She didn't bother going to the lake first. She knew she reeked of sex but Stella needed to eat already. The fish would be a treat for them.
"Amber! You're back!" Stella exclaimed. Her pupils were dilated, a characteristic Stella had gotten used to. Made her look more lost than she already was. Her own eyes were dilated as well but she spent half of the day fucking to keep her friends safe.
"I brought food."
Stella grinned from cheek to cheek. "What did you bring this time?"
Amber grinned. "I actually got some fish! I uh don't know what kind it is so don't eat too much of it. You're pregnant and all."
Stella stood up to give her a peck on the cheek. "You always think of me. Thank you."
Amber chuckled. "Don't worry about it. And careful with the kisses. I eat both sides of the menu after all."
Stella giggled. "You can have me after we eat. I'm very hungry already." She sat down next to the basket. She called over their Pokemon to divide the food.
Amber sat down next to her. She played with her hair affectionately. "Eat as much as you need to. We don't have to ration it as much."
Amber had two fingers inside Stella's tight vagina. The younger girl couldn't take more than that. She was squirming like crazy every time Amber pumped her fingers in. Her cries of joy were muffled by the female Emolga humping her face. Amber herself was preoccupied by the Absol pounding her pussy with his burning rod.
The two were having sex for the third time that day. It had become a regular thing. They didn't always join each other but they were now.
Absol got tired of missionary. He motioned for Amber to get on her knees. It brought her a grin. She obeyed so she could grab Stella's thighs. Her wet mound was now all hers to devour. The little girl squealed as Amber expertly lapped at her tight walls. Her tongue knew just where to attack. Stella was splashing into Amber's ready mouth in seconds.
Emolga must have finished seconds before because she could finally hear Stella cry out her name in ecstasy.
Amber could already feel her third orgasm hitting her. Absol didn't even seem ready to bust yet. He was gripping onto her waist tightly and giving her all of his strength. "Fuck! Yes!" She lifted her mouth off Stella's opening momentarily. Her sharp breaths were tingling Stella's lower lips. A drop of her clear liquids caught Amber's attention. She returned back to her friend's groin. Absol didn't need any verbal encouragement. He would definitely fill her up, only her though. Stella was always off-limits.
Aren't you worried about Stella?
Amber shrugged. She was only wearing her grass shirt. Her lower half was bare so she could play with her clit. "She seems stable enough to me."
Yeah, stable like you. You have been screwing Pokemon left and right. When you aren't, you're either doing Stella, yourself, eating or sleeping. Sex is half of what you do daily. You know you smell terribly, right?
Amber smirked. "The Pokemon don't mind. They're attracted to me like flies."
You're indulging though.
"It's better than hoping we survive another day. Stella and I are safe. You guys don't have to break your back protecting us."
Where is Stella anyway?
"She went to pee. It's been awhile though…I'll go check on her."
Before she could get up, she sensed Pokemon. Unlike her usual visitors, these didn't seem friendly. Espeon was in front of her immediately.
The snarls sounded familiar but louder than she remembered. "Crap! They're Houndoom."
A small group of Houndoom stepped out from behind the trees. They glared menacingly at them.
Damn it. They have Stella! They want us to surrender.
Amber growled. "I won't surrender to you guys. And you better give me my friend back!"
The Houndoom looked amused. They prepared to attack.
Multiple Embers were shot at the two. Espeon swiftly blocked them with Psychic. She extinguished them with ease. She followed up with Swift on all of her opponents. None of them missed their mark.
Before the Houndoom could retaliate, a group of Absol appeared. They all used Megahorn to quickly defeat their enemies. The Houndoom, injured, all decided to flee without hesitation.
Amber prepared for another fight. She was surprised when the leader of the group greeted her. He was much bigger than any Absol she had seen. Amber corrected herself. It was a female.
She's the leader of the group.
Amber dryly said, "I kind of figured."
Not just of this group of Absol but of their alliance. She wants to let you know that the girl we're looking for is safe. She was last seen wandering aimlessly through the forest, nearly away from the Houndoom's territory. For her current state, they're surprised she got that far. Crap! She's almost a day's distance from here!
Amber frowned. "She was gone only about thirty minutes. Are you sure it was Stella?"
They said that the girl was riding a Metagross at full speed.
Color disappeared for Amber's face. "What do you mean she was riding a Metagross?"
Apparently a lot of species of Pokemon are native here, even Metagross.
"Well let's go get her! Stella is pregnant and alone. We can't leave her like that!"
Amber tried to walk past the Absol but was blocked from continuing. "Hey, don't make me fight you!"
I think we should take their deal.
"Damn it, Espeon. Don't be deciding things without telling me!"
Espeon sighed. Hold on…maybe I can pass her thoughts to you. It'll seem like she's actually speaking to you.
"…I know you want to save your friend but she is between enemy territory and ours. If you cross over to the enemy's side, they will attack you mercilessly. You've probably only experienced attacks from small scouting groups. Their full force is much worse."
Amber was confused shortly by Absol talking. She then remembered Espeon's explanation. "I can't just let her roam alone. The girl isn't exactly in any state to care for herself."
"How about you accept my deal? We aren't very familiar with you humans. I'm pretty sure there are things we can learn from you. In exchange for your allegiance with my tribe and our island alliance, we will do all we can to secure your friend's safety. It…might not be an immediate rescue but we can surely label her as safe. There are certain Pokemon neither side will attack because they are safe. It's a condition placed to protect neutral parties or someone who is mutually beneficial to both sides. We would have to honor one more individual for the enemy…but your assistance should outweigh that."
Amber gritted her teeth. "Wouldn't she still be in danger by herself?!"
Absol shook his head. "Both sides are honor-bound to provide safe haven to these individuals and assistance. I can guarantee her safety, even without her being in our territory. If she happens to stumble into ours, we'll gladly sweep her up and return her to you. We don't like involving unnecessary bystanders. Unfortunately we really need your help. We both stand to benefit in this though."
Amber sighed. "If she dies…I will hold you responsible."
Absol bowed his head. "If your blond friend happens to perish, you may do what you will with my life."
The learning curve of the Pokemon in the Absol Alliance was amazing. Amber had been showing them all she could. They were capable of making rope, wooden bridges and ladders, how to preserve food, and even use tools. Their lack of knowledge over what food was safe for consumption baffled her.
"I kind of expected you guys to just eat whatever looked tasty."
The Absol leader gave her an amused look. "We aren't stupid, Amber. Yes, we don't know how to make human-made objects or structures, but we have some common sense. Our instincts are very good. Oftentimes, the better the food looks, the higher chance it's either delicious or entirely poisonous."
Amber shrugged. "You have a point." She pointed to a spiky berry in a nearby tree. "Those are actually very good. They tend to be sour though." She pointed to some low plants with perfectly shaped fruit. "Those cause pretty bad indigestion and can lead to stomach bleeding. They taste amazing but hurt like hell afterward."
All the Pokemon around her took note of everything she said. They memorized the fruits she pointed out, registered how they smelled, what plants grew them, and even what seeds they seemed to possess.
"Now, let's cover what vegetables you can eat and what greens you should really avoid."
A Vigoroth approached Amber while she was on a lunch break. "Hey there, big guy. What can I do for you?"
"We saw two humans land on the island."
Amber nearly choked on her carrot. "Where?!"
"At the center of the grassland. It's not too far off from our tribe's area."
Amber looked around to see if anyone else was around. She normally liked to eat aboveground so she tended to eat by herself. Her alliance buddies all lived underground. "Don't tell anyone about this. I need you and your tribe to go pick them up. We have to get them past the mix zone. If they stay at the grassland, we can't stop the Houndoom from taking them out. It's a free-for-all in that zone right now. Go!"
What should we do? Espeon asked.
Amber sighed. "We're going to see if we can ask for two more exceptions. These two might be our ticket out of here. Let's go talk to our favorite Absol."
Amber finished her daily chore of checking their old cabin to see if maybe Stella had returned. It had been about three weeks since she last saw her. Stella kept wandering randomly in the Houndoom territory. The assumption that the Houndoom were intentionally leading her in circles was always present in her mind. She was probably still alive. The last report was yesterday.
Still, she kept hoping her friend would return. She had no idea why Stella would leave. The Metagross who took her never returned to the Metagross tribe. They were missing none of their members…But there were several eyewitnesses to her riding one.
"Amber! We've got bad news!" A Growlithe surprised her. Espeon was always transmitting their voices to her.
Fear gripped her heart. "What is it? Is it Stella?"
Growlithe shook his head. "We've got a sighting of Houndoom circling the grassland area. They aren't supposed to go that far. I think they plan on attacking someone."
Amber growled. "They know the humans are off-limits! Damn it. Let's go, Espeon!"
"That pretty much leads up to where we met."
Alma and Charlie were speechless.
"So…I can have some Poké Cola right?"
Charlie chuckled. "Take as much as you need."
Alma grabbed the letter from Charlie's hand. "Before that though, does this mean anything to you?"
Amber quickly grabbed the letter and read it aloud:
"Although you may be aware of who I really am, it shouldn't hinder your progress. Your research on this island will break down walls you've never thought could be brought down. Lives will be saved because of you two. Pokemon, although sturdy, are not immortal. They have weakness just like we do. They have behavior we cannot always comprehend. Their mating rituals are almost completely unknown. What we do know is highly skeptical and could very well be case-by-case only.
I have become aware of Charles's predicament and will be sending a type of schedule to speed up our overall progress. Do not fret, Charles, we will be done by your year period. Do not feel rushed at all. Engross yourself into your research; we really appreciate your determination and expect amazing work from the two of you."
"I guess its good news for you, no?" Amber muttered.
Alma sighed. "It might be."
Amber smiled. "Then no point in worrying about it. Let's crack open some Poké Cola!"
Aaaaaaaand back on the wagon. More chapters to write. Sorry for the long wait! I'm working nearly every day now. I'll write when I can. Nurse Joy is next, then the intro to Resort 2, and then this again. Thanks for sticking around, guys! Sorry once again for disappearing. I have so much to write now lol
As always, read and review!
