Damon Salvatore had felt helpless only during 3 times in his whole life.

A time when his mother was taken away from him. He had spent God knows how many days scooped up in his room, not eating, not drinking and not interacting with anybody until one of his house staff had broken the door and dragged him out.

His father had brushed this incidence off saying that all Damon wanted was attention. Yes, he wanted the attention, he wanted the love, and he wanted the care…. But it was all denied to him at a very tender age of 4.

The next time when helplessness took toll on him was when he found that Elena was in hospital, battling for her life. To say that he had felt like a hurricane had struck him would be a major understatement. His whole life was on the verge of collapsing right in front of him and he wasn't able to do anything to stop it. He felt like his body was slowly shutting down and he wasn't able to find the switch to turn it back on.

And then today was the day when this helplessness came back to him, haunting him, sneering on him, making fun of him and killing him. He was trying his level fucking best to stay away from her, to turn her down every time. Can't she see the hurt in his eyes, can't she see how much it pains him to not return her cute little I love yous that she says at least million times in a day, can't she see that he is hanging by a small thread….. Can't she see that he is doing all this to protect her from himself?

"I am not blind you know?" His voice coming from behind him almost made him drop the glass of bourbon in his hands.

"What do you want Jeremy?" He asked in a defeated voice.

There was no sound except for his shoes, the sound getting louder and louder, indicating his nearness.

"I am not blind." Jeremy repeated, sitting on the stool beside him and pouring himself a drink.

"Yeah, I heard it the first time." Damon said, taking a long gulp of his much needed bourbon.

"Then you must also know that you need…" But before he could finish his sentence, Damon got up from his seat and threw his glass on the wall in front of him.

"I know alright." He shouted, his whole body shivering in anger. "I know that I have to stay away from her, not come near her, not to talk to her, not look at her, not to touch her. In short, I have to exist like a fucking invisible person but guess what Jeremy, I am not invisible. We'll be living in the same fucking house for the next 6 months. Don't you think it's going to be a tad bit difficult for me to fulfill your dreams? I am trying my level best here so just buzz off."

Damon stormed off while Jeremy's jaws unlocked from its position and hung down. He couldn't believe that Damon stood up to him. He actually felt afraid.

"Time for plan B. I am going to ruin you Damon fucking Salvatore." He took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, I need you help again…. Yeah, as soon as possible." As he cut the call, a small smirk escaped his lips.

"Game on…"

"This place is huge… in fact, giganormous." Caroline shrieked and plopped down on the huge bed.

"There is no such word as giganormous Care." Elena said, placing her clothes in the wardrobe that was bigger than 2 rooms combined.

"Whatever, this place is so huge that it needs a vocabulary of its own."

Elena didn't say anything. She kept on arranging the clothes, lost in her own thoughts. Lost in thoughts of a certain blue eyed angel. The angel who saved her. She felt a smile creeping on her face thinking about his anger, his uneasiness when she tried to get close to him, how his jaws would drop to the floor whenever she would say something romantic to him. He tried to distance himself from her but she was a Gilbert. Stubbornness was her nature.

"You are being naïve Elena." A voice she really didn't wanna hear dragged her out of her beautiful thoughts.

"Can we do this later Care? I am really tired and really sleepy." She wasn't lying. She did feel like she could drop down any second.

"Elena, you have to understand that Damon is bad news. He is not good for you. He is just a player, a womanizer. He will sleep with you and chuck you out of the room next day. And you are not that kind of girl. You don't sleep around. So just stay away from him."

Elena's temper was slowly rising. She just stood there hearing Caroline blab about how Damon is bad, he is good for nothing, how he a manwhore and what not. When she reached her saturation level, she just lost it.

"Okay Caroline, I have got a couple of things to clarify to you so listen to them carefully because I won't repeat them. A. my relationship with Damon is none of your business so just butt out. B. you are living in his giganormous house so I would expect you to have a decency to not say something bad about him in his own house and C. I love him and no one in this world can stop me from having feeling for him. Not even Damon so don't bother. And D. get out of this room this instant, I don't wanna see you."

And with that, she literally pushed Caroline out of the room without even giving her a chance to open her mouth and slammed the door.

Caroline couldn't even believe it. She couldn't believe that her own best friend threw her out of the room. How dare she? Caroline was the one who was always with her be it hell or high water. She was the one who took care of her when Elena's crush rejected her in 3rd grade. She was the one that helped her win Matt, the hottest guy in the school. She was the one that kicked him in the balls when she caught him cheating on her best friend. And she was the one that watched A Walk to Remember with Elena 50 times when she suffered from heartbreak.

And that's how Elena repaid her for all those years of faithful friendship? By kicking her out of the room and slamming the door on her face for one fucking guy? Oh she wasn't angry, she was furious. And furious Caroline is the worst thing that can happen. Damon is so going down.
