Chapter 11
Hooray, new chapter! Aren't y'all happy Skele is updating faster?
I haven't been feeling up to writing for a while, but luckily I pre-wrote this. I'll take ideas, and if you want me to change something that you feel is wrong, I'll change it. I just want to make people happy.
WARNING: This story is not rated T because I'm paranoid! Smut implied!
But for the younger viewers, it's cut off. Just being cautious :)
Chloe Bracken
My lungs hurt. My feet ached. I could feel the knife wound on my calf.
That was all I could think about.
Running. Running for my life.
Not from Infected. No, from people. People who wanted to kill us.
I turned my head around, to look at them, but no one was chasing us anymore. Quickly, I yelled, "Stop! They're gone!"
Slowly everyone stopped, and started to fall against the trees. I counted, one, two, three, four, five, six moving shapes, the only things I could think of as humans as my vision was quickly fading. Seven, including myself. That meant we lost at least nine people.
Quickly, I shouted, "Leo!"
"What?!" The voice of Leo shouted. I stood up, and blinked away the blurriness. I went racing towards him and engulfed him in a hug. "Oh, thank god you're safe." He whispered, kissing the top of my head.
Suddenly, Jay shouted, "Holly! Don't move."
I released Leo and looked down at Jayson and Holly.
Holly coughed, "Jayson, don't worry about me."
I looked at her. Oh, she looked terrible… instantly I knew she wouldn't make it. Bullet wounds wracked her limbs and body, the only thing keeping her alive and awake was adrenaline.
"Holly, no, you can't die." Jayson croaked.
"It's so painful," Holly whispered. "Jayson, do it. Do it quickly."
Jayson sniffed, and grasped the knife from Holly's belt, held it high above his head, and brought it swiftly down upon Holly. She smiled, and breathed, "At least I'll see Fallon again."
"Oh, Leo, Jayson," I whispered, and hugged the two. Jayson sniffed, and bowed his head.
"You know what Holly would've said," Tyler started. "Keep going without her. Stay alive."
"You're right," Leo said. He looked around, and said, "We leave at dawn tomorrow, get some sleep. We can't risk them finding us again. I'll stand guard."
"You heard the man, goodnight." Ivy yawned and balled her coat up, and started to go to sleep.
Eventually, we all did.
Except for me.
Frustrated, I sighed loudly out of my nose, and sat up, looking around.
"Can't sleep?" Leo asked from his post. I nodded. "Come here,"
I stood up and tip-toed over the sleeping lot, finally making it over to him. Swiftly he wrapped an arm around my waist and lifted me over his shoulder, and started to carry me away from the group.
"Hey!" I laughed. "What about the group?"
"I'm sure they'll be fine without us for a few hours." Leo winked at me.
"Wonderful," I grinned. He set me down. Before I could say anything he leaned forward and kissed me.
"Chloe," He started, releasing me for a moment. "I love you so much."
"I do too." I smiled. "I love you to the ends of the earth and back."
"When all of this is over," He paused to give me a swift kiss. "When we find the cure, I want to settle down. Start a family."
"I would love that," I smiled, giving him another kiss. "But why later? Why not now? We don't have to wait."
"I would try and propose to you, but I am afraid that that can't happen now. After all, we don't need any paperwork to say that."
"Honestly, aren't we basically married?" I giggled. "We don't need a ring to tell us that." I kissed him again, and smile. "I just love you."
Hold up. Sorry for interrupting, but look. Look at these nerds. Look at these awkward romantic nerds. Continuing on…
"So, may I kiss you?" Leo smiled.
"I thought you'd never ask." I grinned as Leo pressed his lips against mine. I dug my fingers through his hair as he grasped the sides of my hips, pressing his body against mine. As we embraced, I felt as if a weight was sliding off of my shoulders. The weight of the world, some might say. No, wait, that was my shirt falling to the ground.
I think I'm in heaven.
Isn't that sweet? Covering up deaths with love? So sweet.
