Staring at the emo teen at the passenger seat from the corner of his eye, he understood one thing loud and clear.
Fuck.
Orange For A Wife, Apple For A Husband
Chapter 11
Bak Chang was always a guy with the clearest mind among everyone he knew. No, he was not bragging when he said this, it was in fact, the only thing Fou was mad at him most of the time since she couldn't brush things aside and pretend that they did not exist in the first. All his life, he dedicated so much to his job with this mind of his, receiving praises again and again from the higher ups for never messing anything up. Ask him anything, and he'll give you the answer you needed quick and accurate.
Until now, that's it.
He lifted his head gently from the now-sleeping Fou's shoulder, looking around, taking everything in slowly before processing them once by one in his mind.
Opposite him and Fou, was the couple he envied most, with the female leaning against the soft plushie behind her while the red head rested his head on her lap. From the way they were breathing, it was safe to assume that both of them was deep in slumber.
Tap.
Bak quickly rested his head back onto Fou's shoulder and kept his eyes shut.
Times like this he was glad that he wasn't tall enough to reach the headrest in the cars. Anyone that was behind wouldn't know that he had wake up and looked around at this point.
Someone was crawling towards the front.
He took a small peek, squinting his eyes as he did so.
It was a guy with short hair, dressed up in a…… rebel kids fashion? Forgive his fashion sense, he truly did not understand how people his age dress up all the time. How was it comfortable for anyone to wear pants with holes and showing off their body parts for the world to see? Being the old-fashioned kid back in his high school, it was no surprise that he was often made fun of. But it was okay, Fou was there with him.
Fou, he chuckled softly, Fou is truly different from the other girls he saw in his life. So different that he often worries that boys will not get interested in his best female friend that way. It was almost laughable that he was worried for someone's future love life when he couldn't even get his own love life to work. He scratched his head, embarrassed.
Man, it was Fou that accompanied him during his heartbreak phase; what did he do in return?
He pondered on it a while.
In his defense, Fou never did tell him who she really likes. It was always a he'll know one day or it's not going to work anyway when he asked her. The way she answered him made him wonder if Fou had fall for some jerks that would never return her feelings and proceed to make fun of her in public. Was it someone like Kanda Yuu? Or was it a playboy like Lavi Bookman? But Lavi Bookman ended up being loyal to Lenalee, so that proves that even playboys can be serious when they want to, right……? Fou doesn't seem to be the type that cries over heartbreak, so can he really do anything to help her feel better when it happens?
The guy turned back, causing Bak to shut his eyes tight once more.
Wait!
Wasn't that the guy…… Fou showed him a day before? The guy with makeup?
"Doubt that idiotic Komui will be with her though. After all, there's a total of five boys with her just now when I saw her."
As soon as he heard the curtains pulled closed, he turned his head behind as quiet as he could.
… Walker?!
He and Fou was somehow…… On the same van as them? But how? He waited for Fou outside the toilet, and then-
What happened? Were they kidnapped?!
"That goddamn redhead dragged us with them." He heard Fou whispered to him, "I tried to stop them, I swear."
"... They want us here…?"
"God knows," Fou gritted through her teeth.
"How long were you awake for by the way…?"
"When makeup guy crawled to the front passenger seat."
Fou and her nickname ability, Bak shook his head slightly with a smile.
"Any idea where we're heading?"
"Not hell."
"... Nice." Yup, she's definitely mad.
Bak turned around once more, taking in the blonde sitting right next to Walker, who in return waved at him with a smile. Well, at least they look friendly. He smiled back politely.
"Bak Chang," he offered his hand.
"Jasdero," the blonde replied him with a large grin.
"Jasdero...?"
"Just Jasdero."
He eyed the blonde a while, before moving his sight to the sleeping whitenett. Walker's friends perhaps? The sleeping male's gesture shows nothing but trust towards him. No one would be so deep in slumber when a stranger's presence is right beside them, not to mention that Walker's head was a little tilted to the side, a clear evidence of Walker resting his head on someone else's shoulder until the makeup guy crawls in front.
"And the guy that went in front...?"
"My twin, David."
"Well, aren't you friendly?" Fou butted in, annoyed.
"Friendly is good, Fou." He placed his palm onto her head, applying slight pressure onto it, "Why are you this mad?"
Well I thought you would hate me not manage to stop them for dragging us here but NO YOU JUST LET IT GO!
"Nothing."
"... That face says everything but nothing, my friend."
Fou rolled her eyes, as it it was not obvious enough.
"Was it the fees you paid for our trip?" Did Fou planned the schedule and now that they are kidnapped (not) they could no longer go to where she had planned? "I'll pay you back when we get back. Just show me the receipts, alright?"
"..." Really?
"I can't read your mind, you need to tell me what's wrong."
Fou grunted in annoyance. Taking a few breath, she opened her mouth, only to close them again when no words came flowing out. She struggled with her inner self for a while, ending up with her sighing, turningher body to face away from Bak and suddenly find the moving environment outside their vehicle interesting.
"She's mad~"
"Doesn't take a genius to know, Jasdero." Bak deadpanned.
No matter how different Fou is from other girls he knew, there were always exceptions, take the current situation as an example. What exactly was Fou even mad about? Sure they did not manage to get to go wherever they want, but was it worth it to be this mad? What's worse was that her not wanting to say why she's upset with this situation. Yeah, they may have known each other for a long time, but why couldn't she understand that no matter how close they are, there are still problems that need to be confronted out loud in order to be solved? Staying silent while being mad at each other ain't going to help.
"Think of it this way, Fou," guess he should at least try to make her less mad, "you're in the same car as a hot guy."
That, made Fou turned around almost immediately.
…… It works?
"Are you for real, Bak Chang."
Nope. It wasn't working at all.
Jasdero facepalm at said situation.
He had thought that with how much David "improved" since Allen's good night kiss, he doesn't have to see another sight of a in-love-denial guy, but guess what's in front of him now? The night Allen kissed David goodnight, his twin smiled so vibrantly as they went to bed. He was so glad, so glad that maybe, perhaps, that Allen finally realize what his twin was feeling for him. Another part of him was happier at the fact that his twin was smiling in pure happiness after so long.
No words could describe his feelings as he witnessed David's smile after so long.
Oh, David did comment that he looked like an idiot while staring at him, but that's beside the point.
It had been so long.
It had been so long that David had smile this much.
Well, the Allen he saw on the next morning meant that their cute little British cousin still has not notice his twin's feeling but it's okay. Relationships take time, he told himself. They were both making progress, that was all that counts.
"Fou, really. You need to speak up."
"I'm speaking."
"No, I mean, tell me what's wrong."
Another hand came in contact with the previous, Jasdero covered his face with both his palm, shaking his head as he sighed to himself.
Another couple to be paired up, it seems?
Orange For A Husband, Apple For A Wife
"Well?"
"... I did say something but-"
"So it is you."
Kanda shut his mouth, there's no point in struggling at this moment. He fucked it up, this is what he's getting in return.
David sighed, leaning down onto the seat with his head tilted upwards.
"So what did you say?"
"..." Like hell I'm gonna tell you that I thought him kissing you was disgusting.
"Look, Kanda Yuu, I'm trying to be nice," he gritted at the last word, "to you, and all you have to do, is to cooperate with me. It's not that hard, jerk."
You are trying to be nice to me, why's that?
"Eyes on the road. I don't mind you dying here but Allen's in the car."
"You're not going to mention your twin?" Kanda questioned.
"He'll live if I live. He's not weak."
"Are you assuming that bean sprout is weak?"
"He is."
"Jesus fucking christ- I said to focus on the road, jackass!"
That took him by surprise, both David's answer to his answer and also the fact that he actually stepped on the break in shock. He was usually calm no matter what distraction was beside him. For as long as he knew the rabbit, he lost count of the times the rabbit tried to annoy him so badly on the road he had to strangle the rabbit with his left hand, while his right arm still on the steering wheel. Never was he so affected by anything when he drives.
"Ya okay in front there, Yuu?"
"I said to not call me that! There's kids in front just now."
Fucking liar, he saw David mouthed out from the corner of his eyes, in which he glared at the latter, wanting him to tighten his mouth.
"If you ever get too tired to drive, I can take over."
What answered Lavi was a flash of Kanda's middle finger before David pulled the curtains closed, separating the front seats from the back.
"Are you going to speak up or am I wasting my breath here?"
He was referring to the conversation they had about what made Allen mad, Kanda noted.
"Why is this so important to you?"
"And why are avoiding my question, jerk? Dodging the bullet once or twice is still considered that you didn't mean to do so, but you," David squinted his eyes, "Why exactly are you dodging the question?" More importantly, what did you did to the Brit?
He didn't like the feeling of him being cornered with question he didn't want to answer, but the male beside him was determined to get the answer out his mouth, it seems. He could have just throw David a punch or something, that'll shut him up for sure. However, he himself was in the wrong now, what else could he do other than to allowing all this to happen to himself?
Why did I say that to beansprout last night?
If he had kept his mouth shut, he would not have been trapped in the current situation. He furrowed his brows in annoyance. Who cares if the bean sprout have the habit of kissing someone to sleep? Who was he to judge? So why was he getting annoyed at the sight of the whitenett doing such intimate activity with his family- That's right, the twins are the bean sprout's cousin wasn't it? It made sense that he would be closer and more intimate with family members. Then, why in the world, was he, an outsider, getting annoyed and dare he say, angered, that the British male did so?
"It was just a good night kiss, jerk!"
He saw Tiedoll doing that a thousand times before he moved out. Heck, he was one of the victims of Tiedoll's kisses which the old man claimed that it was just his way of showing affection as Tiedoll puts it. Indeed, it was a normal gesture.
What ticked him off exactly?
"... I said some stuff."
"About what?"
"About you and your twin barging into our room in the middle of the night." He wasn't lying. He was indeed angry at the twins for barging in his personal space late at night, though it was not the real reason he yelled at Allen.
"That-" David was lost for words. He was the one that caused Allen to be sad? "T- That was my fault, not Allen's."
"But did he manage to convince you to leave until he kissed you on the forehead?"
Something cold went under his chin, landed directly on his neck.
"Apologize to him."
"Or what?"
"Oh, I don't know. Perhaps you'll bleed to death from here?"
Why does this fucker carries a knife in his pocket!
"If that's what you wanted to, go ahead."
"You-"
"But think thoroughly on how you'll inform your Brit about me bleeding while you were unharm despite seated right next to me."
He felt the knife on his neck stiffen, before the culprit moved it away from his neck.
It was silent between them both, him focusing on the road while the other simply stared out the window, deep in thoughts.
"... Why were you there?" David broke the silence not long after.
"Why was I where?" Kanda raised an eyebrow at such unclear question.
"The goddamn Paogam activity! Why were you there?"
These wouldn't had happen if Kanda never attend that activity! Allen would not had fall for this jerk, and he would never need to worry for the Brit from being dumped! It's an understatement that Allen joined this activity since, well, it was a tourist attraction. Allen must had gotten interested in such activity and was merely wanting to participate for fun- Until that idiot sees this Kanda Yuu, David clicked his tongue.
And that Brit! He fummed in anger, how many times did he had to go after those fuckers that aimed at Allen before they tried to went after the whitenett? How long will it takes until his cousin figures out how famous he was with the horny teenagers and that he should be more careful around them?!
"You need to let it go, Dav."
"Jas, he's an idiot. These fuckers will fuck him up."
"Whatever you said, Dav, whatever you said."
"... Why are you smiling like that, Jas?"
"You know, you're a dummy sometimes."
Dummy? For trying to protect their youngest family from all those horny fuckers?
All these while, Allen never did get in touch with those that tried to get into his pants, all thanks to David. In the past, Allen wasn't into those fuckers- That was what made everything easier. But now? He scoffed, that bloody idiotic Brit!
"My old man tried to match me up with a girl."
Oh, a matchmaking in progress, huh?
"Whoever that gets your orange must be running on bad luck."
"I'm the one running on bad luck when it's a guy that picked up an orange."
"... Was Allen the only one that picked it up?"
"Why do you think I'm stuck with him now?" Kanda deadpanned, sighing a little, "Foreigners need to know that this is nota country for homosexual. This will get him in trouble if he let his sexuality this open."
That caught David's attention.
"What's wrong with homosexuals?"
"Nothing wrong. But this is not the best country to live it out."
It's illegal here?
Back in where they were from, sexuality wasn't the problem, so it was easy for people to be approached by the same sex all the time. He was so used to that fact that he forgot in some countries, homosexuality was against the law.
"You're…… Straight?" Why was he so worry then? If this jerk is straight, not matter how long Allen stay with him, Allen would only be friend-zoned, isn't it?
"I'm asexual."
Even better.
Kanda pulled into a parking lot, "Wake them up."
David blinked, "Rest house break?"
"We're here."
