When Push Comes To Shove ch. 12

I cant believe it! I cant believe it! I can't freaking believe that I had asked out Jade West out. I know that I said that we're figuring out things between us but I never asked a girl out before and I don't know what expected of me. Do I bring her flowers? Open doors? What do I wear? I know that we're grabbing something to eat and watching a movie but there's so many thing that could go wrong. Do I wrap my arm around her during the movie or keep my hands to myself. Do I pay or does she? Split the bill between us? Ugh, this is so confusing and I don't know what I'm doing! What if I mess this up and Jade doesn't want to go out with me anymore. I want it to go well but I don't know what I'm doing as I've only gone out with boys and I have a clue of what I should be doing although things with Jade have always been different. I don't know how long I've been pacing in front of my place with my hands in my hair as I'm sure that I look like a lunatic but it must've been long when Aisha pull me into her house.

I vaguely hear her call for her moms as Becca and Karla come into the living room from various places in the house and the older couple could see the distress on my face before springing into action. Becca gently takes my hand, leading further into the house until we walk through a door that leads to a study as she sits me down on one side of a desk before sitting across from me in a plush leather chair with her fingers laced, patiently waiting. I don't know where to begin but it just spills out and I'm even sure if the older woman understood that I had said but continues to listen with a reassuring smile on her face and by the end of my rambling, I feel slightly better getting it out in the opening but everything's still unclear. I never had to go through something like this as I had been so sure of my sexuality but everything changed when I had met Jade, making me feel things that I never felt before as it feels like I'm on a constant emotional ship with no destination in sight.

I don't know if I like girls or that I might just have feelings for the goth girl but I do know that I like her more than I've like anyone else and being with her is amazing and terrifying at the same time. There's so much that's not clear and I still haven't told my Dad that I'm going out on a date with a girl even though he knows that I have a date tonight and I don't know how he'll react once he finds out and he will because I tell him everything. I just hope that this doesn't change anything between because I don't think that I handle losing him because other than Trina, Dad's the only family that I have left as I nearly jump out of my skin when something touches my shoulder. I look up to see Becca looking at me with a worried expression as I blush embarrassed that I once again got lost in my thoughts with the thespian but thankfully I wasn't called out on it.

"Tori, I know that you're struggling with your sexuality as you had thought that you were one thing and now you're something else but if you ever want to talk or need someone to bounce things off of, you know that I'm here for you" Becca said patting my knee.

"I know and I appreciate it. I have a date with this girl and I really like her but I don't know what I should do on this date because I've only gone out with guys in the past. I'm so confused and I don't know what to do" I said running my hand through my hair.

"You're expected to enjoy yourself and you don't have to do anything that you're not comfortable with. There's not much of a difference between dating a girl and dating a guy except for the obvious as long as you both like each other and spending time with each other and I expect a full report later tonight or tomorrow on how everything went down in case if I need to hunt anyone down" Becca chuckles.

"I'm hoping that everything goes well because I really like her. She's like no one that I've ever met as she makes feel things that I never felt before that I haven't with the others that I've date even she drives me crazy" I said smiling slightly.

"I said the same thing about Karla so I'm pretty sure that I know what you're talking about" Becca laughs.

"I heard that and are you feeling better, sweetie" Karla asks with a cup of hot chocolate in each hand.

"Yes, I'm feeling a lot better. Talking about it helped" I said taking the cup from her.

"You know that our door is always open if you just want to talk or just because. You're always welcome here with open arms" Karla said kissing the top of my head.

"Thank you, that means a lot to me" I said leaning slightly into her.

"You don't have to thank us for that. It's nice having you around and we don't have to worry so much about Aisha getting into trouble with you two being friends. That girl is a handful" Becca said ruffling my hair slightly.

"Hey! I take offence to that and I'm not that bad but you good, girl?" asks Aisha.

"I'm okay now and I think that I can do this" I said with a nod.

"No doubt but come on, we're gonna go through your closet to find the perfect outfit that make Jade's heart stop" Aisha said pumping her fist in the air.

"You know that I'm not trying to kill her, right" I said shaking my head.

"It's just an expression sheesh" Aisha said rolling her eyes.

"Thanks for the advice, Becca" I said smiling.

"No prob, kiddo and try to have fun"

"I will"

Aisha and I walk over to my place, straight to my room where the dancer instantly starts combing through my clothes even the talk that Becca and I had put me at ease but I cant help feeling a little nervous as this is my first date with Jade. I know that this could be the start of something real in the direction of us actually dating which is thrilling but scary because I never dated a girl before and I'm a little unsure of what to expect. I'm pull out of my thoughts to see the music production student holding out a complete outfit consisting of a floral off the shoulder crop top matched with a pair of denim shorts that I had brought last week. I take the outfit with me into the bathroom to take a quick shower then brushing my teeth and applying light makeup when Aisha decides to my hair, making it fall in soft waves then placing a white flower clip to the left side.

I make sure that I have the tickets for the movie that the thespian are gonna see although it isn't going that I would see of my own volition but I know that she would appreciate the selection nonetheless. The dancer looks at the title on the tickets before looking at me with an questioning gaze but I merely shrug when the doorbell rings and Trina yells from downstairs that my date's here. I take a deep breath to calm my nerves as the music production student hugs me, whispering that I got this before walking me down the stairs to see the goth girl standing at the door, talking with Dad before looking at me with awestruck expression then morphs into one of adoration. She walks towards me, holding a bouquet of white and purple gardenias which I take from her before placing a quick kiss on her cheek but my sister takes the flowers to put them in water before taking in her appearance.

Normally the screenwriter wears a black as she rarely wears anything with color in it but today she's wearing a long sleeve red/black checkered shirt with a white tank top underneath it paired with a short sleeve military style utility jacket and jeans with rips in it. A cute red beanie on top of her head and a stylish pair of black boots dawning her feet as the smoky eye shadow makes her eyes pop and I don't know how long we were staring at each other for but it must've been long enough that a cough breaks the trance. Dad kisses the top of me my head, telling me to have a great time while semi sternly reminding Jade to have me home before curfew and that he's a cop which she promises that she will. I'm sure surprised that he didn't give her more of a hard time like he does with all my dates in the past but I'm not about to question it but this could be a good sign as I make sure that I have everything I need before leaving.

The goth girl leads me to car before opening the passenger's door for me, allowing me inside then getting in herself as she pulls out onto the curb, giving her directions towards the movie theater as the ride was a bit on the quiet side. Ten minutes later, we made it to the theater where I show our tickets before being directed to theater four as we move to the concession stand to grab some snacks, popcorn and drink to share. I quickly found out that the thespian has quite the sweet tooth as her eyes light up at the candy options before going to grab our seats and we debate a little whether to sit closer or further away from the screen then settling on sitting in the middle. There was a few people other than us but were sitting closer to the screen as the screenwriter wraps her arm around my shoulder as I mold myself into her side, lacing our fingers together because I knew that I was going to need it.

The lights dim as the music instantly grows darker and more intense as the movie title written in blood pops up as my date's breaths hitches, looking up to see the excitement and I knew that I made the right decision which make the nightmares later worth it. I jump every time someone gets killed by the killer or something pops outta nowhere but thankful Jade was there, whispering that she would protect me even going as far to asking if I want to see something else. I'm touched that she was willing to do that for me but tough it out by watching the movie by burying my face in the crook of her neck until it was finally over as the playwright lead us out of the theater. The smile on her face was obvious that she enjoyed the movie and I could see the wheels in her head turning as I'm sure that she has a movie or play idea that she wants to write down which make think back to what Morgan had said.

I know that the thespian is insanely talented and passion about horror and gore but I can't fathom why she wouldn't want to submit something for that film festival in San Diego as it's right up her alley.

"I see the wheel in your head turning, Vega. What are you scheming?" Vega asked with an amused smirk.

"I'm not scheming anything"

"Yes, you get this look right before you start getting up in someone else's business so spill" Jade lightly scoffs.

"I was thinking-"

"That's dangerous territory" Jade snickers.

"How come you didn't submit something for that film festival that Morgan told you about at the pool party? I mean it's right up your alley and you would be really good at it"

Jade goes quiet, eyes focusing on the ground as I let her gather her thoughts as I know from experience that it's never a good idea to force her to talk about things that she didn't want to talk about. The goth girl can be very stubborn and could easily shut me out if she feels like she's being pressured or cornered which is the last thing that I want her feel but I can't wondering why she's hesitant doing something that'll showcase her work. We walk into a nearby park that I didn't even know that was even here as the thespian leads me to the top of a hill, sitting down on the soft grass as she looks up the starless sky before looking at me and I could see insecurity and self-doubt in her eyes. It dawn on me that she could feeling inferior compared to other film makers which she shouldn't because those guys are no Jade West as she could easily blow them out of the water, gently taking her face in my hands.

"Jade, you are an amazing playwright and those other guys have nothing on you. You don't have to enter the festival if you don't want to but if you do enter, you're going to win because you're insanely talented that it's scary sometimes and I don't want you to have regrets. I believe in you and your skills" I said placing a lingering kiss on her forehead.

"Man, you're cheesy Vega" Jade chuckles watery.

"Maybe but you love it and you'll just have to get used to it. You know that I'm in your corner but you already know how talented you are and I'll remind you every time you need a reminder" I said smiling.

"Thanks Vega but if you ever tell anyone about this, I'll deny it" Jade said glaring at me.

"I wouldn't dream of it" I said pecking her lips.
