Kidd knew what it was like to have a hell inside his head. Now that she was gone. He couldn't even think of her name without his brain exploding into pain and rage and fire.
Liz and Patty were so scared. They took all the knives and sharp objects away. They always checked on him. They even covered his windows, so he couldn't break them and use them to slit his wrists.
Kidd's mental health was declining steadily. He began to mutter, his eyes whirling around, looking at everything, but looking at nothing at all.
But Kidd wasn't alone. A weapon was also left damaged.
Ragnarok had spent the last month, cocooned inside his little home. He didn't even eat. He never spoke. Maka and Soul, who had adopted him of some sorts, haven't seen him come out in the past month. Not since that day.
But today was different.
Maka entered Crona's old room, and almost fell over with surprise when Ragnarok appeared.
"R-Ragnarok!? Ragnarok, are you okay?" Maka said, kneeling down by the small bodied weapon. "It's just been so long since I have seen you!"
Ragnarok stayed still, ignoring all of Maka's attempts at conversation.
"There is someone I need to see." He said coldly, expressionless.
"Who?"
"Death the Kidd."

Kidd sat, crisscrossed on the floor, staring at the mirror. And his reflection stared back at him. But it wasn't just a reflection… It was a reflection of his soul. His mind. His darkened heart.
The reflection had pale skin, And dark eyes. They were completely black. No irises, just dark. His mouth was stitched, five black lines, connecting his lower and upper jaw. His hair was dark and jagged, and he wore a suit with a ruffled tie. It was so not him… But… it was.
This was nothing new… For some reason, whenever Kidd looked into the mirror now, that is what he would see… This… Distorted image of him….. That fit his distorted soul.
Kidd smiled, his reflection smiled. Kidd laughed, his reflection laughed. Kidd raised his hand, his reflection raised a hand.
"Hello." Kidd said.
"Why, Hello there." His reflection replied with a grin.
Kidd blinked. Wait… What? "Who are you?"
"I am you."
Kidd furrowed his brow. "But… that isn't right…." He said to himself. "I am me…"
The reflection chuckled. "You think you are… You haven't realized it yet… But tell me this… Are you the same person you were before Crona died?"
Kidd twitched. That name sent daggers into his heart, splitting his soul in half, gutted him from the inside out, and slit his throat, all at the same time. He gasped and clutched his chest. "No! Don't say her name…. please…" he cried, a single tear running down his cheek.
"What…. Crona?" His reflection grinned and laughed.
Kidd clenched his teeth and balled his hands into fists. His reflection raised his hands and sighed. "A simple tease, friend, don't be alarmed or angered… But you know I am right… Do you feel you are the same inside?"
"No." Kidd answered monotone.
"Then who do you think you are? You aren't the same person. You aren't who you are posing to be. Why, do you think you are Death the Kidd, Son of the Grim Reaper? You wear that same old tattered suit, with your silly little reaper rings. But you're wrong, aren't you? You aren't the same person." His reflection hissed, his voice like knives, cutting into Kidd's mind. The thing that shocked him most was the fact that what he said was true.
"How do you know… all of this? These truths?"
The reflection chuckled. "Because, I am you NOW. I am the person you have become. When you believe that my strength lies within you, is the soul you now poses, I can show you true power… I can make you do things that have never been done before, boundaries that have never been crossed by human or Reaper before. I will give you the strength to accomplish all your goals…. Even bringing the dead back to the world of the living."
Kidd's head snapped up. "…. Do you speak the truth?"
His reflection grinned. "Now, why would I lie to myself?"
The Reflection reached out, his hand going through the mirror and becoming real, not just a reflection. "Accept who you are…. And find your true power…" He beckoned, extending his hand out to Kidd.
"My…. True power?"
Knock Knock Knock. Someone was at the door. In a flash, the reflection was gone. It was back to just Kidd, sitting in front of a strip of glass that reflected the world around him… not the world in his heart.
"K-Kidd? Are you there?" Liz called softly, poking her head through the door.
Kidd didn't move or say anything.
"Kidd…." Liz gently knelt down next to her meister and smoothed his hair back. Her eyes pricked with tears every time she saw him like this… The white bandages around his wrists, his hair over his dull eyes… She shook her head.
"Kidd, someone is here for you."
No response.
"Kidd…. Please, just say something."
He was quiet for a while, and at was just Liz smoothing his hair back and away from his eyes again and again.
"….Who?"
Liz was shocked at first. She wanted to jump up and down and yell with joy… This was the first time he had spoken in a month! She smiled feebly.
"Ragnarok… he wants to talk wi-"
"No."
"…Kidd…"
"No."
"Why not?!"
He kept quiet, and then it clicked in Liz's head. Ragnarok… reminds him of Crona…
Liz let out a gentle sigh. "Kidd….. Please, I beg of you, just this one little thing. If anyone should talk to you, it should be him… I… I don't want to say much, but I have a feeling you two talking could really be good for you both."
"…"
"Please, Kiddo-Kun?" She said, almost a whisper.
Kidd was still for a while, and then he heard that voice, that hiss, that sounded like knives cutting through his mind…
I have summoned the Demon Sword for a reason… Have faith in yourself… he is the Key to the power you seek…
"….. Bring him here…" Kidd said slowly, deciding to trust himself.
Liz smiled even wider.
Minutes later, Ragnarok sat across from Kidd on the floor, the two of them in Kidd's room. Maka was in the living room with Liz.
"I don't know why, but I found him one day, and he asked for Kidd! It was the first thing he had asked for in a month… So I thought that maybe it was a good idea that his wish was granted..." Maka said quietly to Liz. Liz smiled. "I think you did the right thing, Maka. I mean, Kidd hasn't been doing anything… We have tried to get him to do simple things… We have even unfolded the toilet paper… I think a bit of contact with Raggy is just what he needs to start healing. For both of them to start healing." Maka nodded. "I am so happy… They should be getting better in no time!"

It was something like a staring contest. Neither of them wanted to break the silence, but both of them had things they wanted to say. They both looked at the floor, Ragnarok trying to keep himself from murdering the bastard that let Crona die, Kidd trying to keep himself from falling apart into a heap of tears and memories.
But, finally, it was Kidd who broke the silence.
"What if I told you I could… I could bring her back."
Ragnarok growled. "If you think making stupid jokes like this is funny, you won't be getting laughs. More like a punch to the gut."
Kidd shook his head weakly. "Why would I kid about something like that?"
They both fell silent.
Then Kidd heard the voice again.
The Demon Sword is the Key. His Madness Wavelength that he naturally gives off will boost your power… Will boost US to levels you can't even understand…. With the strength you two would poses together, you can accomplish the impossible…
Kidd's head snapped up. Then he began to laugh. But it wasn't a sound of joy. It was a bitter laugh, full of hate and darkness… and insanity.
"We could bring her back… If we worked hard enough… I know how, Ragnarok. I know how now. Almost a month and I have it…"
His eyes were darkening, literally. The pupil's expanded until the whole of his eyes were black. "You see… I am not the same person I was….. I was weak, held back... But now, I found the key. The key to power… enough power to do whatever I wish." Black stitches drew themselves over his mouth, five long black lines over his lips. "The key…. Is…. MaDnEsS…"
"….." Ragnarok was quiet. He never approved of the new lifestyle Crona had provided… was Kidd offering a chance to go back to the times of darkness and madness? And… a Chance for Crona to be back?
It was too tempting an offer.
"… Where do we begin?"

Liz crept carefully down the hall. She stopped outside of Kidd's bedroom door. She heard the muffled voices of the young Reaper and the Demon Sword. Then she heard laughter. It was quiet, and maybe not full of pure joy. But it was laughter. It was a good sign. "I knew this was the right choice…" She said quietly to herself, smiling, before walking back to the living room to join Maka again. They'll be better in no time….
