They all glance at each other. "I know that I went first and Fiona I think you went after I did." Cassie said trying to remember. "That is right I did because you got the bees and mine was the lightening."
Peter looks over to his sister Judy. "Did you, no I asked if you wanted to go next." Peter said. Judy I believe it is your turn."
Judy's face is vacant. They can all tell that she didn't want to roll her turn. Judy takes the dice out of Cassie's hands and walks down a few steps away from everyone. She takes a while before tossing the dice down, it fumbles a few times on the large board until it comes to a stop. It lands on five, like mine I did believe. Her piece moves to its' spot. Bigger letters form in the middle of the board. "Some memories won't be there to last, let me take back deep into the past." Judy read.
There is silence as nothing dangerous happened but Judy froze still. "What is happening?" Fiona said. It was low and Cassie and Peter didn't know to explain it but they didn't know either.
Peter walks down the steps joining his sister. "Judy?" Her face is white and eyes are wide open. Her breath comes back and so does the coloring in her face. She looks at her brother. "Peter, you're not going to believe what I just saw."
"Come on." Peter pulls Judy away from the staircase. Cassie walks down in the middle of the board game to retrieve the dice. She walks back up the stairs and tries to shuffle them in her small hands. It doesn't really work. She tosses them down and both land on 6 so the piece moves 12 spaces. Just 12 spaces more then they can finally beat this game. "Nothing good comes from leading astray, facing your fears is where you need to stay."
Suddenly the walls began to crumble up top. They ran towards the middle of the board game as it crumbled down where all of them had stood. They could've been crushed in a matter of seconds if they stayed there.
"Maybe the game thinks it'll be fair if we all stayed out here." Cassie said and passes the dice over to Fiona. Fiona rolls the dice and it lands on 8.
No one had time to read the message that formed in the middle of the board because what had happened was very gruesome. Out of the sky they fell and slithered around their feet. Snakes! Fiona ran around screaming. Most of the snakes wasn't trying to attack anyone but there were some that hissed and made their way over to Fiona.
Cassie had no idea to try and make Fiona calm down. If she tried yelling above her screams then the snakes would find her to be hostile to them. All she could do was slowly find a sharp rock shard and Peter and Judy try to follow her example.
Cassie cuts her way through the snakes and when threatened she points the shard in the snakes direction trying not to feel fearful of it and slows down her pace more. Finding the dice she tosses them carefully over to Peter.
Peter catches them both in his hands successfully. He shakes them and tosses them closer near Judy. That was smart since she would be the one to roll the dice next.
They land on 10. His piece moves and it crushes most of the snakes on the ground. A trail of blood follows along with a few hisses. The message forms and it is the same message that formed for Judy.
Peter's face goes blank, is breathless and he turned a pale color. Cassie had almost forgotten to see where Fiona went so she looked around for her and found that Fiona is sitting on top of a boulder away from the snakes. She is rubbing hard on her lower leg looking worried. It was then Cassie saw that Fiona was bitten. She was trying to squeeze the venom out.
Cassie hopes then in there that they would finish the game. If someone were to die on them now then they would never finish the game. Peter comes out it shaking his head looking at Judy and then at Cassie. There is a small grin on his face and now Judy picks up the dice before a snake came over to cover them.
Judy tries to shake them and then tosses them close to Cassie's feet. They land on 2. The message forms and then a noise follows. Sounds of raging monkeys. It startles up the snakes a bit. Then Cassie takes the dice in her hands and runs toward Peter and Judy darting the snakes trying to jab at her.
The monkeys came hovering out swinging on the vines and came crawling down on them making these roaring sounds that didn't sound normal. Quickly everyone looked for a place to hide.
"There's one over here." Fiona said already disappearing down.
Everyone ran towards where Fiona went down on the boulder. Peter helps Cassie and then his sister up first before following them. There is a crack that Fiona crawled into. It'll easy hide all of them. Cassie lets Judy go first with Peter insisting she goes next.
They all wait for the sounds to subside before going back out. Fiona looked like she was about to be sick. She was breaking into cold sweats and is shivering. "Come on, let's finish this guys." Cassie said and just before getting out a monkey screams out loud in her face and scratched the side of her face. Cassie takes her shard and chucks it at the monkey it breaks the skin in its chest, maybe not enough to kill it but the creature runs away in whimpers.
Cassie hurries out in the open as Judy helps Fiona out. All of the snakes were gone and some were torn to pieces from the monkeys doing. Fiona drops on her hands and knees as she began to throw up. Cassie quickly tosses the dice with it landing on 7. Drat, not on the 12 that she wanted.
Her message appears. It was about heights, oh no. The walls break away even more, Judy and Peter had to help get Fiona down as the rocks got pulled away in some invisible force. Cassie did not want to look, she knew that beyond what her eyes could see was only an illusion and just that. She could now feel herself fall and her name being called out from Peter.
Cassie opens her eyes to see the ground break from beneath her and she quickly grabs the edge. Peter holds his hands out to her. One taking her hand and the other placed on her elbow.
Fiona with the help of Judy takes the dice into her hands and rolls them onto the ground. She lands again on 7 like Cassie did. The message gives way that the previous roller will go back to their world and that a Van Pelt was to arrive. Cassie had now pulled back onto the ground and there is a sound of a shot gun.
Everyone looks over to Fiona as she crotched her stomach in. Slowly Fiona looks at her hands pulling them away seeing that they are covered in blood and she falls to the ground, not moving.
Cassie looks at the corner of her eye seeing a figure walking out to them. It's that man, Cassie thought. The man who tried to gun her down in the forest. All of a sudden Cassie felt a strange pull, it was coming from the middle of the game board.
Peter steps out to try and grab me. Van Pelt then aimed his gun at Peter. "No!" Cassie screamed.
This warned Peter as he stepped to the side and the bullet entered his shoulder. Getting closer Cassie grabs Van Pelt, taking him with her through the game. Cassie went through what it felt like first going into the game. Although she was glad going back to her own world she did not want to leave Peter and Judy on their own.
Now all Cassie can do is wait for her turn, if it was to come. All she needed was to roll a five.
