Ch.11 Who Can You Trust?

"Hey campers. Wakey wakey." Says Chris over the loudspeaker. Well so much for him letting us sleep in.

All of us girls in the cabin groan, and reluctantly get out of bed. We get dressed, and go to the mess hall.

I meet up with Cody. "Hey Codester." I greet.

"Hey." He replies groggily.

"You tired or something?" I ask.

"Owen farted all night." He tells me. Luckily I didn't smell it.

"Huh, well sucks to be you." I tease. He gives me a glare in return.

We get our lunch, and I sit next to Leshawna, with Cody sitting next to me.

Heather is sitting in front of Leshawna with a blanket around her, and a mug with hot tea. She sneezes.

"Need a little antecedent?" Gwen asks Heather jokingly as she sits on the other side of Leshawna. Cody, Leshawna, and I laugh.

"Ha. You're s-so funny." Heather says sarcastically. "You think you can lock me up in a freezer and get away with it?" We kinda did. "I am going to make you sorry you ever met me."

"Too late." Gwen says to Leshawna, Cody, and me. Ooh burn.

"You are such a-a-ACHOO!" Heather sneezes. "Ugh! I hate this place." Well this place hates you.

"Alright campers, enough stuffing your faces, and meet at the dock of shame for today's challenge." Says Chris over the loudspeaker. Yay. Fun…

~~~030~~~
"So, last week's challenge exposed a couple gopher issues." Chris says. Gwen, Leshawna, and I glare at Heather, who glares back. "And, I'm sensing something funky going on in the Bass pond too." Courtney for some reason pushes Duncan to the ground.
"So this week's challenge is going to be centered on building trust. Because all things should begin with a little trust." Chris tells us. Well this should be fun…
"There will be three challenges that will have to be completed by two or more members of your team. Normally, we like to have the campers choose their partners, but not this time. More fun for me!" Chris says. Which means misery for us.
~~~030~~~

Chris takes us to the bottom of a cliff. "Ok, for the first challenge, you'll be doing an extreme freehand rock climbing adventure." Chris explains. "DJ and Duncan will play for the Bass, Heather and Gwen for the Gophers."

Gwen groans.

"Here's you're baled and harnesses." Chris says throwing the items to Gwen and Duncan. Heather quickly snatches them out of Gwen's hands.

"Hey, what's your damage?" asks Gwen annoyed. She's a bitch. That's her damage.

"If you think I'm letting you hold me up, you're nuts." Replies Heather.

"Well, you won't be holding her up exactly." Says Chris. "One camper pulls the rope through the baled as their partner climbs. If the climber falls, the baled will stop them from crashing. But remember, do NOT ever let go of the rope." Yeah, Gwen is going to die. "The catch? Well, the side and base of the mountain is rigged with a few minor distractions like rusty nails, slippery oil slicks, mild explosives, and a few other surprises." Actually, they both gonna die.

"Wicked!" I hear Harold say. I swear you are a freak of nature.

"This is all about trust people. So good luck." Says Chris.

"Excuse me," says Gwen. "Can we trade partners? I don't feel like getting dropped on my head."

"Oh please. I wouldn't kill you just to win a challenge. Yet." Says Heather. Yes, because that's reassuring.

Gwen and DJ put the climbing gear on. DJ has a bunny, but gives it to Bridgette. They then start to scale the mountain.

DJ starts ahead of Gwen, but she manages to catch up. But, an explosion sets off, and blasts her down. Heather surprisingly catches her.

"It's ok, I got you!" the queen bee calls up.

"I promised surprises!" says Chris to a camera. "Habanero pepper sauce anyone?"

He then takes out a water gun with hot sauce in it. He sprays Heather.

"Ugh! What the heck Chris?!" snaps Heather. She then wipes her eyes with her hands.

Gwen then falls down.

Chris then sprays Duncan, but he opens his mouth and eats it. "Is that the best you can do?" he taunts.

"Is that the best we can do?" Chris frantically asks an intern. He shrugs in response.

Gwen easily catches up to DJ.

Heather calls up to her. "Come on Gwen, you wouldn't want to fall… behind." Heather then snaps back a second rope that was connected to Gwen, pulling off her skirt and showing her underwear.

"Woah." I hear Cody next to me. I quickly cover his eyes. I also cover Trent's who is standing on the other side of me. They no get to see Gwen's undies.

"Hey!" complains Cody. "I was watching that." I roll my eyes and kick his ass.

"OW! What was that for?" he whines.

"For being a pervert, and I couldn't smack you in the back of the head." I tell him.

Meanwhile, Gwen's skirt lands on DJ's face. He takes it off, and as soon as he sees what it was, he looks up, sees Gwen's underwear, and falls down. His force also pulled Duncan up, so they get stuck.

Gwen looks to her skirt in thought, which she caught, and ends up saying, "Ah, skip it."

She then climbs the rest of the way up. Our team cheers.

"And the Gophers get the first point." Announces Chris. We cheer, san Gwen, who ran back to the cabin.

I pull my hands from Cody and Trent's eyes. "You know you didn't need to do that." Trent tells me.

"Yes I did, you two don't need to be perving." I reply.

"But the other guys got to see it." Cody whines.

"Yeah, but they don't have a crush on her. That I know of." I tell them. Trent just shrugs and Cody pouts.

"Alright, Colleen, Trent, Bridgette, and Sadie, go to the Mess Hall for the next challenge." Says Chris. Well I can trust Trent so I'm glad I got him as a partner.

~~~030~~~
Sadie and Bridgette are at one table as Trent and I are at the other. There are some spotlights going one, and an intern does multiple flips to behind a podium. Chris then rises from that same podium. WHOA MAGIC!
"And now round 2, the extreme cooking challenge!" announces Chris. The intern that flipped into here crawls away. Awkward.
"Each team must choose who cooks, and who eats." Explains Chris.
"Ooh let me do it. I did win the cooking challenge for the team last week." I say to Trent.
"Alright, go for it." He replies. YES!
"Today you'll be preparing Fugue sashimi. The traditional Japanese blow fish." Says Chris as Chef rolls in the fish. Whoa, magical.
Chef then rings a gong.
"The fugue blowfish contains enough lethal toxin to kill thirty people." Explains Chris. Wait, I have to cook that? Oh God I hope I don't mess this up.
"Fishies, meet your makers" says Chef, throwing the blowfish onto our trays.
I start poking the fish with the knife.
"They must be sliced veeerry carefully. You must cut around the poisonous organs. The poison paralyzes the nerves, and there is no antidote. So no worries." Says Chris. Oh God.
Trent turns to me, and puts his hands on my shoulders, and asks me, "You've taken biology, right?"
I nod my head confused. What does biology have to do with cooking blowfish? Also, I was one point away from failing so, that wouldn't have helped anyways.
"Begin!" announces Chris.
I start cutting the fish.
~~~030~~~

Bridgette and I finish cooking, and both of our dishes look similar. Well, except for hers being green, and mine being purple… Obviously mines better since purple is a prettier color.

Bridgette slides her plate to Sadie, who looks very nervous. Good luck girl, I'm rooting for you!

Sadie takes a piece, and eats it. She waits a couple seconds, but nothing happens. She smiles. "That was so yummy." She says. Phew, I'm glad she's ok. She is one of my friends after all.

I slide the plate to Trent, who looks nervous, but not as nervous as before.

He timidly picks up a piece, and put it in his mouth. He chews and swallows it.

At first nothing, but then he repeatedly punches himself, then screams. Oh God no.

He then returns back to normal and chuckles. Phew. Wait never mind.

He falls to the ground, and when he comes up, his skin is blue.

"Oh my gosh! Trent!" I exclaim.

"I thought you said you passed biology." He says. His voice is all deep now.

"I-I did… by only one point… And what does biology have to do with this anyway?" I say.

He then falls back to the ground and starts twitching with puke pouring through his mouth.

"EW!" Sadie, Bridgette, and I say at the same time.

"It's good. Give him 24 hours, and he'll be up walking, talking, and breathing like before." Says Chris.

"Aren't you going to help him?!" asks Bridgette frantically.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine." Chris shrugs it off. ARE YOU KIDDING ME DUDE?!

Chef bends down to Trent and starts giving him mouth to mouth. Ok, I feel like I'm gonna hurl. I turn and walk out of the mess hall holding my stomach. Sadie and Bridgette follow soon after.

Conf: Ok, I feel really bad. How was I supposed to know what parts were poisonous. I hope Trent will be ok.

I sigh. I should've let him cook. He's smarter.

"Hey it wasn't your fault." Bridgette tells me.

"Yeah, how were you gonna know what would happen?" Sadie says.

"I know, but I just feel really bad. For all I know I could've killed him. I'm not good with guilt." I say.

"Chris said he'll be fine." Bridgette says. I nod and we head back to everyone else.

~~~030~~~
Gwen, Leshawna, and, ugh, Courtney walk up to us. "Hey guys." Greets Courtney. Shut up. I don't like you.
"Hey." Bridgette replies.
"Wait, where's Trent?" asks Gwen. I bite my lip.
"I, uh, well-"
"We had a cooking challenge, and the food was like, this poisonous fish, and Trent ate some poison." Sadie tells her. I owe her one.
"What? Is he going to be ok?" Gwen asks.
"Chris said he'll be fine by tomorrow." Bridgette reassures her.
Speaking of said host, he comes up to everyone right now.
"Alright everyone, it's time for the third part of the challenge. Luckily, it involves three more challenges. It's the three blind challenges." Says the host. Oh fabulous. "It begins with the blind William Tell, followed by the blind trapeze, and ends with a blind toboggan race." That seems pretty intense.
Chris then puts a pair of orange glasses from the paintball challenge, and an arrow on DJ's head.
"Like legendary marksman William Tell, you'll be knocking arrows off your partner's head using crabapples." Explains Chris.
"Um, wasn't it the other way around?" asks Courtney. What does it matter? Chris makes the rules anyway.
Chris shushes her. Heh.
"Also, the shooter will be blindfolded." Says Chris. There are multiple gasps. Well someone is gonna get knocked out.
"The person who knocks the arrow off their partner's head first, wins." Says Chris. He then shoots an apple, and it hits DJ in the… uh… parts.
"Ah nuts." Says Chris lifting up his blindfold. I chuckle a little. "Leshawna and Owen, you'll be one team. Sadie and Courtney, you'll be the other."
"Let's rock and roll!"
Sadie and Leshawna are the shooters, and Courtney and Owen have the arrows on their heads.
"Ready? And Go!" says Chris.
Leshawna and Sadie start shooting apples. They keep missing the arrows, but hitting Courtney and Owen. Each time Courtney gets hit, I laugh.
Leshawna then hits the arrow, winning this part. Sadie keeps shooting though.
"I've got her this time." Says Sadie.
"Leshawna won already." Chris tells her, but she doesn't hear him, and keeps shooting.
"Hey Einstein! It's ov- OOF." Courtney gets hit in the head. I laugh, hopefully it'll give her brain damage.
Chris then runs up to Sadie, and puts his hands on her shoulders. "Sadie! It's over man, let it go!" Chris exclaims.
"Oopsies, sorry." Says the BFFFL sheepishly while taking her blindfold off.
Courtney mumbles something and passes out. I fall to the ground laughing.
Conf: HAHAHAHA! Oh my gosh! That was too perfect.
"It wasn't that funny Colleen." Cody says to me.
I finally stop laughing, but I'm still giggling like crazy.
"Y-yes it hehe was. Haha" I say.
Chris takes us to this small pond with some contraption over it.
"And now, the blind trapeze." Announces Chris. He then explains this part of the challenge. Let's just say if the blind person isn't caught by their partner, they'll meet a lot of pain and jellyfish.
The people for our team are Heather, who is blindfolded, and Lindsay. For the other team, it's Duncan with the blindfold, and Harold catching him.
The Killer Bass go first, and Harold catches Duncan perfectly.
Now it's Heather and Lindsay's turn. "Ok, 1… 2… 3… j-j-jump! OH NO WAIT!" says Lindsay, but it's too late. Heather jumps, and Lindsay doesn't catch her. Heather falls into the pond of jellyfish.
"OW! OOH! OW!" she screams. I actually feel sorry for her. Hope she'll be ok. Wow… I said that about Heather.
After a couple interns fish her out, and take her to the infirmary, Chris takes the rest of us to the bottom of the 1000 ft. cliff. This will probably be painful.
"And now, for the final leg, the toboggan race." Says Chris.
"The say what?" asks Leshawna.
"Each team will have a driver and a navigator. The driver steers while the navigator will shout directions. Oh yeah, and the driver will be blindfolded" says Chris. Everyone gasps at the last part.
"Man, not many of you laughed. Man, keep losing you guys. Heh heh. Oh well. Ok, um, Colleen and Cody, and DJ and Bridgette." Chris says. Oh no I would have to do this challenge.
The four of us walk up the cliff.
"I'll drive." I tell Cody. "I trust you more than I trust myself with navigating."
"You sure?" he asks I nod.
We get onto the toboggan with me in the front with a blindfold, and Cody in the back. For the KB, DJ is driving with Bridgette navigating.
"Ready, get set, and-" Chris blows a blow horn, and him and Chef kick our toboggans to start then. And we're off.
"Right! Right! LEFT!" Cody shouts at me, and I turn the way he tells me to. We go over some ramp thing I think because we are in the air.
"Whoa! I have no idea what's going on, but this is so cool!" I say.
"OH NO!" I hear Cody yell. That can't be good.
I then hear a splash. Are we in water?
Cody then screams, and exclaims, "NO! I DON'T WANT TO DIE YET!"
I then feel like we're dropping. What the hell is going on? We are flung into the air again, and in seconds, we hit the ground.
"Phew." I hear Cody from behind me.
Cody starts spitting directions at me again, and I follow them.
All of a sudden, I hear an explosion, and Cody wraps his arms around me tightly.
"Cody! What was that? What's going on?" I yell.
I start to hear Leshawna, Gwen, Owen, and Lindsay cheer. We're getting close.
"Cody focus!" I command.
"S-sorry. LEFT!" he yells.
After a couple minutes, we finally slow down, and softly bump into something. I hear cheering.
"Did we win?" I ask taking my blindfold off. Sadly, I find the Killer Bass to be the ones cheering. Shit.
"And the Bass are the winners of the toboggan race." Announces Chris. They start cheering again.
"Unfortunately," starts Chris, and the Killer Bass stop cheering. "I said these were blind challenges, and by taking off the blindfold, you broke the #1 rule. Which makes the Gophers today's big winners!" We start cheering.
"Woo Hoo! Alright!" exclaims Cody giving me a high five.
~~~030~~~

After our win, we decided to just hang out at the cabin.

"Man I am glad we ended up winning, I was almost positive one of us would've been going home." Says Cody gesturing to me and himself. Probably me.

"I know right! We got lucky." I say.

"YO! GOPHERS!" says Chef walking up to us.

"What do you want? We've already eaten your crappy food today, can you please just let us off the hook?" says Heather. As much as I don't want to, I have to agree with her.

"No. Chris wants your sorry butts at the campfire ceremony. AND DON'T YOU TALK BAD 'BOUT MAH COOKIN!" he snaps.

"What does he want us there for?" asks Leshawna.

"How the heck should I know? Just get your butts over there NOW!" he replies. We all follow his orders. Man, I'm glad he isn't in charge. His challenges would probably be really brutal.

We head over to the campfire ceremony and see the Killer Bass minus DJ. I'm not too surprised, I mean, he did cost them the entire thing.

"Hello Gophers." Chris greets.

"What do you want with us?" asks an annoyed Heather.

"Well, with DJ now gone, the killer Bass have 5 campers compared to your 8. So, I've decided to change some things. Colleen, pack your bags, you're now an official Killer Bass." Chris says.

"What! Why me? Why not Heather? We'll gladly give her to them." I say. I don't want to switch teams!

"Oh, no, don't even think about trying to give us her!" says Courtney. I can do what I want.

"Um, hello standing right here!" says Heather. No one cares.

"I picked you to switch teams because I felt like it. Now, do it." Chris tells me. I sigh, and give everyone from my old team, san Heather and a twitching Trent with foam coming out of his mouth, hugs.

"Well, it was fun guys." I say. "Have fun losing!"

"We won't be the ones losing." Cody comes back. I laugh, and join my new team.

Sadie squeels. "I'm like so glad to have you on our team now!"

"Will you just SHUT UP ALREADY? No one likes you, and you will be the next one out. Got it!" Courtney snaps at her.

"Um, excuse me little witch, I like her, and I'd vote for you even if you're the only one who actually did good in a challenge. You shouldn't even be here." I snap back at her. No one is going to talk to my friends like that.

"I should be here, I was a CI-"

"NO ONE CARES!" shouts everyone. Courtney just crosses her arms.

Chris then ends the episode, and dismisses us. I go to the Gopher cabin to get my stuff.

On the way out, I bump into Heather.

"Oh, hey!" she says oddly cheery. "I'm so sad about you switching teams. I was hoping the two of us would become friends."

I raise an eyebrow. She's not serious, is she?

"Um yeah, I'm sad about it to. I, uh, gotta go now. Bye." I say, walking out of the cabin. That was strange.

I go into the KB cabin. Courtney is angrily putting stuff in drawers, Sadie is just sitting there awkwardly, and Bridgette is laying on her bed.

Bridgette notices my presence, and she gets up, and greets me.

"Hey, welcome to the Killer Bass!" she says.

I smile. "Thanks."

Maybe switching wasn't such a bad thing. I mean, I was pretty much friends with everyone except Heather, and on this team, I'm stuck with the girl I hate more than anyone else on this island, and I'm pretty sure I have a target on my back since I'm the new girl on the team, but… yeah I got nothing… Hopefully, it won't be too bad.

So Colleen is on the Killer Bass now. What will happen next? Also, sorry to DJ fans, but I feel he should've been the one to go home. It was his fault the challenge was lost, and it was unfair to Sadie to get the boot just because she hit Courtney with apples. This episode is what made me start to hate Courtney. I also want to develop Sadie a little, so she's staying. One more thing, in my story it was Bridgette that DJ gave bunny to, but she still lost him. So yeah, hope you like, and R&R! ~CV
