Chapter 12: Getting Closer

"We need to get her back!"

Natsu, who was boiling literally with anger, shouted at the entire guild. He was ready to go search for his missing friend but then, Erza and Gray stopped him.

"We don't know where they took her. And besides, we had searched the entire night for them and we found nothing." Erza told the raging Natsu. Despite all of that, Natsu still struggle from their grasp. Happy, who were just floating in mid-air, just looked at his partner with guilty eyes.

"Sorry Natsu, if I were just awake at those times. We should have followed them." Happy who was now nearly crying bleated to Natsu. This made Natsu stop from struggling and focused on his flying friend, his eyes with rage. Happy gulped but just closed his eyes and prepared himself from his partner's wrath.

But after a few breath-taking seconds, Natsu's face soften a bit. "No, it's not your fault Happy. Don't blame yourself." He mumbled and pat the crying flying cat making it burst into tears more.

"It's that Sting Eucliffe's fault." Natsu retorted as he clutched his fist tightly, fire roaring on both of his hands.

The entire guild were flabbergasted. They don't know what to say be it words of encouragement or information. They are all in shock of what happened.

"What does Rogue and Sting wants from Lucy?" Cana who happened to be one of the nearest in the bar counter asked the question all the guild members were asking on their minds. They all turned to the strongest team of fairy tail, especially to Natsu which is the one closest to her. Her best friend.

Natsu answered the question with silence. But he knew the answer. He knew what that sly little fox really wants. And he will never let him have it.

He will never let him win.

"First is first. We need to inform master about this. Sadly, he is in the yearly council meeting and will not be back until a few more days. I had sent him a message. Luckily, Sabertooth's representative will also be there." Mira explained.

"Isn't Sting their new master? From what I heard, he defeated the Sabertooth's master during the Grand Magic Games days." Macao alleged.

"From what I heard, Sting is the acting master, but he doesn't like talking to the council and doing council works that's why Rufus is always representing Sabertooth when the council asks for them." was Erza's answer to Macao.

"That doesn't matter! All that matters is Lucy! She's in danger!" Natsu shouted but Gray countered him.

"Shut up, Natsu! You are not the only one who is worried about Lucy! I am also worried. We all are! So please stop shouting!"

"And what? Stand here while my Lucy was taken by that Sting?" Natsu demanded.

"My Lucy? Seriously? What makes you her owner?" Gray said sarcastically.

"Enough guys! This conversation is nonsense. We need to devise a plan. A plan to retrieve Lucy." Erza, who went between the two furious mages, told them. The two who still have sour faces looked at each other with angry eyes then sat on a nearby stool.

Meanwhile. The abducted lady had just woke up from her deep sleep. Everything felt hazy. She doesn't know where she is. She doesn't know why she's there. She doesn't know what's happening.

"Where am I?" she inquired to herself as she tried to look at her surroundings a bit more clearly.

It looks like she is in an island. The white beach spread from horizon to horizon as if it has no ending. The ocean seemed endless, like she is at an isolated island in the pacific. Behind her is a big forest, with big trees and lots of vines, shouting that dark creatures are living in there. And up above is the sky, clear as ever, with no signs of rain.

Suddenly, Lucy heard something. She carefully turned around and saw a moving bush nearby. She tried to feel her keys with her free hand. To her surprise, her keys were missing. She grabbed her fleuve d' etoiles or her magical whip to guard herself. Whatever it is, she is ready to fight it.

She positioned her whip.

"Any time now." She murmured to herself while watching the moving bush closely. As the mysterious being behind the bush emerged, Lucy used her whip to entangle it. To her surprise, it was Sting with tropical fruits that she had caught.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! What the…" Sting said as he struggled to untie himself from the magical whip.

"You…?!" at that moment, Lucy remembered what had happened the night before. She was abducted, by this guy!

"What do you want from me?" Lucy asked with threatening voice. Her eyes was full of hate.

"Oh hey blondie, will you untie me please?" he exclaimed while batting his eyes beautifully which annoyed the celestial mage.

"Answer me! . . !" Lucy repeated with more pressure. But instead of being intimidated, Sting just smirked.

"You JERK!" Lucy yelled.

"Hey hey. Don't stress yourself too much blondie. I know you are angry but you are making cute expressions too much. It's hard to handle." Sting told her while still wearing his annoying smirk.

Lucy blushed a little but ignored the guy's sweet talks.

"That will never work on me again. Answer my question!" Lucy shouted again.

"Ha! You're no fun. I really just wanted to take you on a date but unfortunately, we crashed on an uncharted island without any provisions. What should we do?" he said, clearly lying. His smile never left his face and didn't even looked threatened while being tied by Lucy, which annoyed the celestial mage more than ever.

Lucy, who has a clear mind now, brainstormed everything that had happened.

'So, Sting and Rogue assaulted me at the station while buying some drinks, put me into sleep and when I woke up, I am here in an unknown island with this Sting. I still don't know his motives. I still don't know where I am. It is impossible to sail out of an island I don't know. I can die at the sea. And what if there are monsters in the ocean? I don't even have my keys. And the real problem is Sting. I can never restrain him with my whip forever.' Was Lucy's deep thoughts.

"You will never tell me huh! Fine, I'll just wait for my teammates to save me." Lucy bragged proudly. She doesn't want to depend on her teammates too much but she has no other choice. She can't leave the island alone.

"THAT is if… they can find the island." Sting taunted with a grin on his face.

Lucy was about to ask him why he said that but something had happened. It was all too sudden that Lucy was a second late to respond. A giant monster had appeared on the beach and it was eyeing Lucy greedily. Lucy had no time to squeal. She backed down a step and as she laid her foot on the white sand, the monster lunged her. Everything was all too sudden that all Lucy had done was to close her eyes.

'Natsuuuu!'

But the attack never came. She waited a minute more. Still nothing. That's when she decided to open her tightly closed eyes. Then she gasped.

In front of her was a wide broad back of a guy. But instead of salmon hair, the guy is blonde. She blinked her eyes a bit more and to her surprise, Sting was the one standing in front of her with his back facing her. After a few seconds Sting faced the awed female mage.

"You alright?" he asked. His facial expression had changed. He is not smiling nor grinning. He is in fact looked… concerned.

"Ahh yes thanks." Lucy managed to say but her knees felt differently. She collapsed on the ground and her body kept shaking in fear. She had handled bigger monsters before but this is the first time that she doesn't have her keys nor her friends to accompany her. She felt defenceless.

"I don't think you are fine, come." Sting, who had offered his hands to the celestial mage for support said with a lot more concern. He looked more serious. More… dependable. Yet, Lucy still don't want to trust her abductor.

"No, no. leave me here. I'll rest here and I'll be fine." Lucy assured coldly. She doesn't want to open up on him. He's an enemy.

"No, come." Sting insisted but Lucy swayed his hands.

"No, leave me alone!" she bellowed with angered eyes but as her eyes met his, her expression soften turning to regret. Sting looked genuinely hurt.

"Ahh sorry, I didn't mean…" But Lucy didn't had the time to finish her sentence. Sting lift her bridal style and started to walk towards the forest.

"You are pretty heavy." Sting nonchalantly commented which aggravated the blonde mage again.

"You male blondie! Put me down! I said no!" Lucy struggled wagging her feet and punching Sting on the chest but Sting held her hand and pulled her face closer to his which made Lucy's heart skip a beat.

"I won't leave you there idiot! What if monsters lurked there again? I won't be able to protect you."

With that statement Lucy blushed but this time, Sting didn't teased her about it. She knew he had seen her blushing but he looked straight to his path coolly and didn't bother her about it which made Lucy blush a lot more. She just lowered her head and let the light dragonslayer took her to where he is going. Her strength had left her anyway for her to struggle and fight.

At last, after a couple of minutes or maybe hours of walking, the two had reached their destination. Lucy saw a big lake with fresh water as clear as crystals. The water sparkle like jewels as the sun strike its light on it. And on one corner is a small waterfalls with rushing fresh water coming from a nearby mountain. This island must be really huge.

"Woah!" Lucy marvelled in amazement. Her jaw dropped. Her eyes bulged. She clearly forget that she's with an enemy. The scenery was just too… astonishing.

Sting, who was still carrying Lucy, walked a bit more and lay Lucy on an improvised bed. The bed is in a small improvised hut with just one wall. It is small, barely enough for a single person and can collapse at any time.

"Let's camp here for a while until help come." Sting said as he grabbed one tropical fruit at the bed and handed it to Lucy.

"No, I'm not hungry." Lucy hesitantly said but her stomach argued. It grumbled the moment she saw the fruit which made Lucy blush again. Sting smiled and offered the fruit again which the mage gladly accepted.

"T-thanks." She said embarrassed.

Sting grabbed another and ate it with the mage. They both ate in silence which made the mage felt awkward. She desperately think of a topic but nothing important came into her mind. Frantically, she just spoke without thinking.

"So… did we really crashed in this island like you said?" She asked the munching dragonslayer. The light dragonslayer stopped for a while and looked at her. Then, after a few seconds, he laughed which made Lucy cursed herself for asking a dumb question.

"Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to laugh. I just can't believe you'll buy that." Sting said in between his laughs.

Lucy, on the other hand, just wished to just vanish instantly because of discomfiture.

"Err, anyway, I brought you here to enjoy your company. I didn't had the chance to get close to you because of your fire breathing friend." Sting said realizing Lucy's discomfort.

Lucy, despite Sting's sincere voice, still doubt his words. She doesn't know when the guy is saying the truth or everything he had said was all just lies. He did abducted her and took her keys.

Her keys!

"Hey, do you happen to have my keys?" Lucy asked trying to hide her intentions. She made it sound like she just happened to ask the question but doesn't bother about the answer.

"Your keys? Yes, they are safe with me. And you wouldn't need them here. I'll protect you." Sting proudly boasted with a wide grin.

"You don't have to." Lucy coldly answered.

"Hey! You ungrateful blonde! I just save you a while ago!" Sting ranted like a kid.

"Yeah, I guess that's just a play for you to boast." Lucy said with a smile.

"While I'm wrapped with your toy whip?" Sting jeered back.

"Ha! You just cheated!" Lucy said and grabbed again her whip.

"No I didn't! I did broke free from your whip!" Sting said mocking Lucy more while running away.

"That's because I'm frightened. That's why I lost control of my whip." Lucy tried to catch Sting with her whip but Sting always managed to evade her attacks.

"Now you admit that you are frightened." Sting said with a grin.

"No I didn't!" Lucy said with a frown. Now she is getting closer to him.

"Yes you did!" Sting said as he evade one close attack.

"No!"

"Yes!"

With that, as Lucy managed to catch and restrain sting with her whip, Lucy stumbled on one big rock and lost her balance falling on top of the light dragonslayer who can't also move because he is entangled.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" they both squeaked as they roll and roll towards the lake.

-SPLAAASSHH-

A few seconds more and Lucy found herself wet from the fell, on top of sting, entangled and sharing a kiss with the man who had kidnapped her.

Meanwhile, with master's go signal, the fire dragonslayer had departed to go find and save his abducted 'friend'.
