ErinKenobi2893 (Guest) You are so right, Palpy should be fried or worse time will tell.

Back from holidays, and looking forward to posting. I am enjoying writing this predicament I have put Obi-Wan in.

Here we go.

000

Qui-Gon rose to consciousness as the annoying beeping became clearer, his eyelids opened and he turned his head to see where the noise emanated from. A very active monitor flashed and beeped continuously next to his bed.

Clearing his throat he called out wanting someone to turn the infernal noisy contraption off, but no one came. He pushed the noise out of his thoughts and tried to remember why he was in the healers ward.

Dreadful images raced through his mind, a tattooed black clad devil and laser walls. Red, blue and green sabres arcing and sizzling as they connected. The battle on Naboo, and an image of the tattooed devil holding him as pain ripped through his body.

Where was Obi-Wan?… Oh no…images of his padawan fighting. His eyes shot open and all the images fell into place. He'd been defeated by a sith and he'd left Obi-Wan to fight alone.

Ba'han said Obi-Wan was asleep, so that meant he was alive. Yet Qui-Gon had a bad feeling that all wasn't well with Obi-Wan. He closed his eyes once more and stretched out through their bond. A multitude of emotions clung to the strands of the bond and in amongst them was real fear and confusion.

He pressed for Obi-Wan to answer him and when he delved deeper into their connection he felt lingering anger and hate in a small corner of Obi-Wan's mind. That revelation shocked him; it was impossible for Obi-Wan to be harbouring such anger and hate. It wasn't a part of his psyche and that thought reminded him of a conversation he'd had with some one just recently.

Qui-Gon's vision of Master Dinn, came rushing back and the conversation they'd had about his padawan. Obi-Wan was in terrible danger and Qui-Gon felt his own protective emotions surge as he worried for his padawan.

He threw the sheets back and sat up pulling the tubes out of his arm. He had to save his padawan. The horrible truth pounded in his head and made him sick. He was almost on his feet when Healer Ba'han rushed in.

"Qui-Gon! What do you think you are doing? There is no way you can get out of bed you'll open your wound again. Now lay down!" he said pushing Qui-Gon back into bed.

"Ba'han! I must go to Obi-Wan, he's in terrible danger and he needs my help!" He said feeling the newly repaired skin pulling around his wound as he was helpless to stop Ba'han from pushing him back to bed.

"Qui-Gon, you should be worrying about yourself. You were seriously injured and you nearly died. You can't get out of bed, no matter what you think you have to do!"

"Please Healer Ba'han," he gasped in pain as he overextended himself. "I must speak to Obi-Wan?"

"I'm sorry Qui-Gon, you can't."

"Why! Tell me why I can't? Something's wrong I can sense it. Obi-Wan is being attacked by darkness, and it's killing him. He needs my help!"

Qui-Gon was getting agitated and healer Ba'han knew it would be impossible to calm him down. So he buzzed for a nurse to bring a sedative.

"Qui-Gon I'm going to give you something to calm you down. There's nothing you can do for Obi-Wan at the moment."

Qui-Gon sensed the worried tone in Ba'han voice and knew he had to make someone listen to him.

00

"I want to speak to Master Yoda, please ask him to come here now!" Qui-Gon snapped, knowing that if the healer gave him a sedative he would be too late to help Obi-Wan.

"Qui-Gon you're being unreasonable and you'll open up your wound."

"I don't care! My Padawan is in grave danger and I demand to speak to Master Yoda immediately!"

"Oh very well!" He sighed, the stress of two uncontrollable patients getting to him. "I'll get him, but once you've spoken to him you will rest!"

Qui-Gon felt very weak, but his resolve in finding out about Obi-Wan kept him alert until Yoda arrived.

.

"Qui-Gon resting you should be. Master Healer Ba'han knows what is best for you. Listen to him you should."

"Master Yoda, I must know what is happening with Obi-Wan. Where is he and why do I sense a disturbance in the Force each time I open my bond with him?"

"Rest you should, help Obi-Wan you cannot."

"Master Yoda, I know there is something terribly wrong and I can't rest until I know the truth!"

"Very well, Qui-Gon. Tell you I will. Turned to the dark side Obi-Wan may have; killed an innocent he did."

"That's impossible Obi-Wan would never do such a thing. Who was he supposed to have killed and why can't I reach him through the bond?"

"Sedated and in isolation ward he is; Killed the Chancellor today he has."

"That can't be true; why would Obi-Wan kill Chancellor Valorum he is the Jedi's greatest supporter and a good friend."

"No, not Chancellor Valorum Qui-Gon, a new Chancellor in office is; Senator Palpatine was elected Chancellor while on Naboo you were."

Qui-Gon gasped for air, a heavy feeling of despair and panic filled him. Something about the name Palpatine danced around the edge of his recollections. "Palpatine?"

"Yes, killed Chancellor Palpatine your padawan did went there to have tea with him, but something caused your padawan to kill him. Masters' Windu, Gallia and Koon investigating they are to find out why."

.

Qui-Gon closed his eyes at this news his head was spinning. All this information was bombarding him and he needed time to organise his thoughts.

"Qui-Gon, sorry I am, but no other explanation has come to light."

"Master Yoda, I must see Obi-Wan. I feel the Force is urging me to see him. Please Master, something isn't right about this."

Yoda's ears drooped; he also sensed that Qui-Gon was right. He'd felt disturbing fluctuations in the Force too and his meditations were confusing. Something impossible had occurred and he sought answers himself.

"Very well Qui-Gon, I will speak to Healer Ba'han if agrees he does, then take you to your Padawan we will."

Against his better judgement, Ba'han granted Master Yoda's request, but cautioned Qui-Gon to stay seated in the special hover chair. Qui-Gon agreed and would do anything they said as long as they let him see Obi-Wan.

Gazing through the plexiglass Qui-Gon felt his despair rise when he saw his padawan strapped down on the bed. The Force screamed at him that this would kill Obi-Wan and that he must find a way to release him. He tried to open their bond but something was blocking it.

"I have to touch him." Qui-Gon said as he pleaded with worried eyes at Yoda.

Healer Ba'han shook his head saying "No, absolutely not!"

Qui-Gon glared him, "You can't believe Obi-Wan would kill the Chancellor in cold blood. You must be missing some vital information and the only person who can supply us with that information is Obi-Wan. If I can get through his shields, he will show me what happened; I just need to touch him. He's strapped down he can't do anything and you have him sedated!"

Yoda sensed the desperation in Qui-Gon's voice and overruled the healer. "Take you in there we will."

The guards and the healer went in with Qui-Gon and Yoda. As soon as the door opened, Qui-Gon could sense his padawan much clearer. He felt a cold shiver run up his spine seeing the restraints holding Obi-Wan down.

"Are you alright Qui-Gon?" the healer asked.

"Yes, but I feel so helpless; he looks so vulnerable and I won't accept that he has gone dark." He lifted his hand from the chair and placed it on Obi-Wan's forehead. The touch made Obi-Wan moan and his eyelids fluttered open.

"He must be purging the sedative from his system; the dose I administered should have kept him unconscious for a while longer." Ba'han stated.

Qui-Gon didn't speak, but he was relieved that Obi-Wan was fighting the sedative because it meant that he could contact him through their bond.

/Padawan can you hear me?\\ he asked sensing Obi-Wan's awareness rising to the surface slowly, and he spoke again putting as much force behind his words as he could.

/Padawan, answer me!\\

/M-master?\\

/Yes, my Padawan, what's wrong?\\

/ Master! I don't know! I don't know! I don't know how he got there, I don't know how to stop him! \\

/Calm down Padawan, I will hel-\\ Abruptly pain shot through their bond and Qui-Gon could sense Obi-Wan trying to bolster his shields.

/Master! I grow weak and I can't fight him for much longer. Please help me!\\

Qui-Gon tried to send his support through, only a massive black cloud blocked his entry it was dark and evil. It reminded him of the evil he'd felt when Maul's mind melded with his on Naboo. Suddenly it came clear and he remembered his discovery about Darth Sidious being Maul's Master.

.

/Master Jinn, you are foolish there is no helping this pathetic Jedi. The dark side is too powerful. I am too powerful and I will have this body, and because you have entered my domain, I shall show you how powerful I am!\\

.

Qui-Gon felt the bond vibrate and black shards of ice rushed through it towards him. He barely had enough time to pull out, before a Force, push sent him reeling backwards in his hover chair and he crashed against the wall knocking him unconscious.

"Quickly get Qui-Gon out of here." Ba'han ordered the guards as he glanced toward Obi-Wan who was arching up and thrashing around gritting his teeth.

"Master Yoda. it's obvious to me that he's suffering from a severe mental illness if he would attack his master like that. We can't allow him to have free access to the Force; I recommend we put a Force inhibitor on him."

"Disturbing this is, agree with you I do. Care for Qui-Gon now we must, discuss the fate of padawan Kenobi we will in the Council chambers. Arrange a meeting as soon as we hear from Master Windu I will."

ooo

Obi-Wan felt the grating laugh vibrate through his head as Sidious cackled while he thrashed in pain and gritted his teeth. "Get out of my head!" he screamed.

.

/No! I will devour your mind and take my revenge on you; you have given me the means to defy death. My plan to destroy the Jedi and form an Empire was in the grasp of my hands, but you were in my way, however, you may have done me a favour. Your body is young and once I control your mind, I will control your body completely. I'll convince them that I didn't mean to kill anyone and then I will escape and formulate a new plan for my empire. \\

"No, I won't let you!"

/ You don't have the strength to defeat me and my plans are already being implemented. I've been undermining the Jedi for years and your numbers have dropped considerably. Don't you think it's odd that there aren't as many younglings coming for training, who do you think made them vanish? The Jedi council are complacent and are like Nerf's being led to the slaughter. Their complacency will destroy them. /

"Why are you telling me this, do you think I will let you get away with this treachery?"

/You, my foolish pathetic padawan, will have no choice. I'm not sure how you've managed to block me for this long, but time will correct that problem. Each time they sedate you, I stay conscious a few moments longer than you do. Haven't you noticed my essence is reaching further into your mind? Your shields will wither under my power andthen I'll take over.\\

.

The burden of controlling Sidious was taxing on his strength when he heard the door open. He relaxed and stopped struggling as Healer Ba'han came back in.

"You're very fortunate that you didn't kill Qui-Gon!"

Obi-Wan remembered that Qui-Gon had been in the room talking to him. " Is my master going to be alright?"

"Yes, but I've requested that we inject a Force inhibitor in you, So its your choice, one more outburst like that and it goes in! I'll be back later, so behave yourself."

.

ooo

.

Fortunately, for Obi-Wan, Sidious heard what the Healer said and he wasn't sure what the inhibitor would do to his connection to the dark side. Therefore, he pulled back, erected his own shields around his consciousness, and left the despised Jedi in peace.

He sensed Kenobi searching through his memories to try and figure out what happened. It was clear that the Jedi brat did kill him and he was determined to make Kenobi's last hours of conscious thought as painful as possible.

/I sense your pitiful confusion, and your doubts about my abilities, nevertheless, I can assure you that my spirit is all that is left of me. Dying at your hands was a painful experience and you will regret causing me such pain. Nevertheless, in my quest for eternal life I have achieved my goal and in no small part to what you did and I will thank you with your dying breath once I have full control of you.\\

Sidious felt the Jedi's weariness and he laughed. "Your strength is waning; it won't be long now before you are too weak to stop me.

He heard the brat's plea go out to his master Jinn for help. "He can't help you, he's not strong enough and once I have control I will kill him too. You my young fool are on your own against the most powerful sith in creation… Me!"
